What was the last game you dropped/stopped playing completely, and what about it made you decide to call it quits?

I can't remember exactly what my last dropped game was. I technically dropped the remastered version of Gears of War on the Xbox One, story-wise anyway, but I'd already completed it in the original version.

I remember dropping Devil May Cry 3 back in March or April as well, after playing through the first two games. I just simply didn't find it very fun, more along the lines of irritating, and not to mention they changed Dante's character into a capital-A asshole in that game.

The last game I dropped was Valkyrie Chronicles 1 on PS3. The load times, no save feature mid battle, etc made it an extremely painful experience. I remember spending an hour on a course. Nearly completing it. Fucking up just once in the smallest way and getting completely blown up for it. The steam version is much better, but I have yet to purchase it.

I usually don't drop games because I want to get my monies worth.

I've only dropped two games ever.

Zelda 2, because it's fucking boring
Punch Out, because I couldn't beat Mike Tyson.

Ditto for the most part, but there are just some games that simply aren't enjoyable enough to continue playing, or sometimes I'll rage quit if I can't get past a certain area or I was an idiot and saved the game at a point that screwed me over or something. I may or may not go back to those latter games eventually.

I guess you could say Titanfall for me. I'm not big into multiplayer games unless I'm playing with some friends, and since I live in Europe and most of my friends still live in the US, its very hard to get any time in.

I like the game though.

One game I straight up dropped was Noctourne for PS2. Lord that was hard, and the music put me to sleep (literally, I fell asleep multiple times playing that game, haha)

The Witcher 2. Great graphics, great story, great voice actors but I couldn't stand the combat. All I ever did was roll around. I also dropped the first game too because I had to read some book to cut some plants.

The gameplay in the first two felt incredibly simple compared to 3, I'll give it that. It still didn't feel like a major improvement though, and there were just too many things that pissed me off, even though I'm usually pretty tolerant, everything in that game just tested my patience to the maximum capacity.

DMC3>DMC4>DMC1>DMC2

Wait DMC4 might be better than 3 since they've released a special edition version which allows you to play as Trish, Lady and Virgil.

But of course, Bayonetta reigns over all of them.

@OP What gripes did you have with DMC3? I thought Dante was awesome and the best one out of any DMC game (I didn't like him in DMC 4, his lines were extremely cringeworthy in DMC1 and he was alright in DmC). Most of the bosses weren't that great and some of them are repetitive which is my main and only gripe with the game but Vergil redeemed them all. I remember being on the brink of tears in the ending cutscene with Dante and Lady when I was younger.

Dexthepleb said:

But it is. The gameplay is soooooooo much better and the story is a masterpiece for DMC standards.

Basically it's DMC 3>DMC1>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>DmC>DMC4>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>DMC2

Edit: Oh shit, I misinterpreted your comment. Sorry m8 :(

The restrictions for F2P players are disgusting. What's even more disgusting is what they did to the characters of the KOTOR games.

I just put things indefinitely on-hold, I'll never complete drop something unless I actually sell the game.

So last game I quit was Kingdom Hearts, I just don't like the gameplay at all, didn't help I really couldn't care less about any of the characters.

Firstly, you can save mid-game. Secondly, that's the whole point. You need to be smart at where you place your troops and tanks. You can't just go guns blazing. Same shit happens to me when I fuck up. I get pissed off but in a good way.

Dante just came across as a major dick in that game with all the cringe-worthy one-liners and his bare chestedness.
The gameplay was indeed very repetitive, which was my main gripe, and some of the bosses seemed to have health bars that were set a tad too high. The storyline was a bit more interesting than the predecessors, but it was backed up by some rather annoying antagonists, such as that jester character.

Uh, what? You can save whenever you want.

... I see it now. I haven't touched the game in over a year because I never used the triangle button. Fml. I should really pay more attention. Thanks.

Well, I certainly didn't go guns blazing. I was very careful. If I had saved back then it wouldn't have cause me such headache. I'm glad I know now. Now I can actually finish it without worry.

I'm also someone that puts games on-hold indefinitely until I decide to pick them up again. Though, I haven't been in much of a gaming mood lately, so I end up losing interest in just about anything I try to play. Not having access to a console doesn't help.

The most recent game I stopped playing was Persona Q, but I'd like to finish that sometime.

I finished that game like a month ago. Yea its stupid hard in some sections. I ended the game with 99 deaths so I can see why you would you drop it. Where did you get stuck btw?

Anyway, last game I dropped was some time ago: Remember me. What a bore fest. Full of bugs and glitches too. I actually stop playing when after a stupid locked room sequence ( where they throw at you a bunch of frustrating and reused enemies) the game didnt open the door. And this is after I died in the same sequence before. So you can imagine my frustration. Mediocre game.

Ditto, I dropped that just less than half way through I think.
Just felt like a very poor Souls rip-off. Not to mention all the glitches, and the bosses that took 30 minutes to die, but didn't really have much variety during the fights, so you just attacked and dodged/blocked over and over again in the exact same pattern until it was dead.

I accidentaly dropped ゼルダの伝説 夢をみる島DX on the floor a moment ago, does that count?

On topic ; I dropped trying to platinum Disgaea 4 when a druid ( A GOD DAMN DRUID) bonus changed my legendary Yoshitsuna I wanted. I proceeded to ANIHILATE the hell out of him with Desco and just rage quit (my first actual rage quit on a game) the game, after over 500 hours on it ._.

Other than that, never actualy dropped a game before at least finishing it once (I left some a while to continue them later but that's it).

Edit ; yeah, I know I could have gotten a Yoshi from what-his-face in post-game much easier, but I don't know, didn't felt like redoing the game a 9th time just to get it.

I just dropped Valkyria Chronicles 2 and Star Wars Battlefront Rogue Squadron because I had to make room on my PS Vita for Borderlands 2, it was only $10!! $10 for all the DLCs and everything!!

Anyways I really liked both but on VC2 I stopped like a year ago and forgot to come back so I forgot everything about the story and Battlefront I bought out of impulse because of the hype for the PS4 version.

I don't give a shit. Pseudo-difficulty of any form is unacceptable. It almost screams laziness: "we couldn't find a way to make this game difficult so we'll put button lag on everything you do." I don't intend to find out why people hold this game in high regard, since I already tried that with Monster Hunter and couldn't see the reason.

The button lag didn't make the game artificially difficult or whatever. Like all control schemes or game/technical mechanics, it's something the player gets used to eventually. Not that it was ever a problem imo. You just got to time hits well.

Not that I'm trying to belittle your ability or anything like that, I just don't see it as a flaw or anything that I felt screwed me out of winning.

Well the game wasn't super high speed or anything, so the lag wasn't extremely in the way, but it was still enough to make me frustrated. I already spent about 700 hours on Monster Hunter 3 and 4, where most of those hours were frustrating, so I didn't feel like dealing with a game that made it that much more annoying to play. For what reason would you ever put lag on a control? It makes no sense.
