Hey guys, I made an intelligent post awhile back concerning teamwork. Can someone bounce it off of me? I want to have a discussion.

Now that I think about it, more and more RE games are eschewing FPS horror for teamwork. Deas Space 3 also made the jump to teamwork.

You're not being racist. You merely point out a cultural difference.

You have an interesting point. Japan also enjos the settings that allow the hero to roam free though - Pokemon, Naruto, One Piece.

Japan was closer to an actual apocalypse than the West. Japan had atom bombs thrown upon it. America (and maybe Europe, not sure how they handled it) was just very scared of the thread. That's why get all these stories about the apocalypse. We never faced something like it, but thought we were close.

Notice, also, how Mad Max (which is Australian) is just a Western. It doesn't deal much with the post-apocalyptic theme.

I'm glad Japan doesn't like Z-Apocalypse stories. I'm tired of LOOK ZOMBIES ARE WE NERDY YET???

I used to think exactly that before playing The Last of US. I also like the walking dead. But yeah zombies is one of the most boring concepts ever. I don't know why it's so popular in the US

I played the Walking Dead for a bit. Then I noticed it's a visual novel with a little more action, and that it tries hard to make me feel something using the suffering of people instead of meaningful events.

It was still cool, but not brilliant. I heard Dawn of the Dead is very good.

Zombies are extremely popular in Japan; Gakkou Gurashi was a massive hit on NicoNico while as this article shows people in Japan loves Zombie games. These guys just consider zombies or anything which shows post apocalypse Japan to be something of a taboo. The writer of High School of the Dead mentioned how he couldn't continue the series after witnessing the 2011 Earthquakes in Japan.

Coppelion isn't post-apocalyptic. The girls are just exploring a radioactive zone, but the world at large is okay. For starters, they work for a government, and can get assistance and supplies pretty much any time the government isn't screwing things up (that is, 1/2 of the time).

True that but they're still cute young girls in a radioactive area. I don't know about the government but if I was able to create artificial human beings then I would rather send adult people instead of 15 year old teens.

They had their reasons

Anyway, 15 years old is enough to explore radioactive ruins where few things survive. Demanding higher age is just ageism.

Fall of capitalism, I guess. It would remove the incentives to make generic stuff, so that the authors would be able to make the stuff they want. Mind you, a lot of it will still be generic stuff, but not quite as much.

No amount of changes will do anything about the perceived quality. 90% of anything sucks, and I believe that is not a function of creative process, but a function of evaluating process.

As I said it is foreign idea with very short tradition and now it is as ubiquitous as traditional idea such as Youkai/gods those ideas with hundreds/or thousand years traditon in Japan, that is quite impressive if you ask me.

For example,
One of the most popular zombie game ''Resident Evil(biohazard in Japanese)" is Japanese game

That reason is really silly though. It's pretty obvious it's one of those "reasons" to have the main cast being school girls for the sake of pandering to the readers.
And it's not really ageism to demand a cast that actually fits the setting.
