It always disappoints me that there arent more good video games based on comic books and manga/anime. You would think those two mediums are the very best places to cull ideas for games from given the market but rarely do we ever see good games come from either field. However, that does not mean we can't dream. So I've compiled a list of my favorite some of my favorite anime that I think would make fantastic games. Please feel free to make a short list of your own (I'd love to see what you guys think!).

1. Cowboy Bebop- I should have stated straight away that I don't think these games need to be direct continuations or outright retellings of the same stories we've already watched/read. Whereas in comics it's only fun if you're playing as Superman or Thor or Spider-Man, a manga/anime game could be just as fun if you're a new character in the same world. You see, the one thing I think anime/maga does far better than comics is world building. I'd be prefectly content to play in the Bebop universe as a bounty hunter flying through space. Using the same engines as games like Star Citizen or Elite Dangerous to traverse the solar system with our own ships and crew in search of dangerous criminals sounds like some of the best fun I can imagine insofar as gaming.

2. Ghost in The Shell - Same here, I'd love being able to build my own prosthetic body and choose how to set my cyberbrain up. I'd love playing as a Section 9 officer. Imagien features like being able to choose whether to be a heavy cyborg or to add a shotgun to one of your arms. I'd imagine something in the vein of Mass Effect where characeter customization is at the fore of gameplay.

3. Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind - This one doesn't really require a lot of description. It'd be great fun to play as Nausicaa and explore this world of overflowing creativity and wonder.

4. Space Brothers - This is on the list because I think it'd be fun to play as an astronaut with realistic (somewhat realistic) technology and physics. Imagine being a part of the first manned team to travel to a planet where life is suspected to exist. No need for deadly alien monsters or deadly alien intelligence. You just explore this untouched, alien world with rainforests, tundras and deserts and you examine life and use realistic rovers and tools to do your job. add in features like a peristent stamina/stress meter, battery life for all equipment used and mini games to happen within the space module and I think you'd have a fantastic new kind of video game that walks the fine line between sim and arcade.

5. Guts - This one is really a no-brainer considering how many fans of the series there are and how many people made Guts in Dark Souls games. This is probably the easiest game to make that's on my list. Put players in the world of Berserk and give them armies and monsters to contend with, with brutal shield and sword mechanics that requires skill and finess to master. The world of Berserk was both beautiful and terrifying and it's a world I think gamers and fans of the series would love to play in.

So that's my list and my opinions. What do you think of them? Do you have a few of your own? Please share :)

Space Dandy would make a great adventure game. Overlord would be interesting as an RPG, although there's already a game by that name. As for the reverse (games that would make incredible anime), I'd love to see Dark Souls adapted into a movie/movies. It would also work well in live-action form.

There already are a few Cowboy Bebop games, actually. Only in Japan, of course.

Ones just called "Cowboy Bebop" and it's for the Playstation. It looks pretty bad to me. It's just a star-fox clone where you fly the Swordfish II.

The other one, on the other hand, is called Cowboy Bebop: Serenade of Reminiscence for the PS2 and it looks pretty cool. It's 3D action beat-em-up game.

Not exactly what your looking for, but you might want to check em out.

Woah you're right. Somehow this doesn't satisfy me though. I was thinking of a 2D Fighter, not something like an arena. Oh well that's still an interesting twist on the concept (mine was much more boring)

I want Code Geass to become an Otome game they already have a VN. I don't know why they haven't thought it or done it yet with the female fanbase as big as it is.

A K action game would be nice. I wouldn't mind skateboarding around the city as Yata. xD

A Hunter x Hunter fighting game would make me happy.

Okay, I know they have a few portable titles already, but I'd like something on a scale similar to the Ultimate Ninja Storm games.

Berserk could be fun,

LoGH could make for a pretty decent setting for a strategy game I think.

Needless could be a fun setting, and could potentially be a good superhero/post apocapypse. game.

1. Psycho Pass - Imagine being an inspector. You get to scan and catch individuals who have high Crime Coefficients, as well as trying to discover the truth about the Sybil System. You can also get to solve crimes (that are different from the ones in the anime, of course). You can play as Akane (or a game-original character) together with Kougami and the others.

2. Overlord - You'll play as Momonga and you get to build your own Nazarick. This should be an MMORPG as well so real players can attack you though I'm not sure how developers would be able to make that work lol (just throwing off random ideas here).

3. Log Horizon - You get to choose whether you play as Shiro (male route) or Akatsuki (female route). Different stories for each route, of course. Other players can be temporarily playable depending on which part of the story you are. (Kinda like Suikoden III, I guess?)

4. Claymore (the Castlevania-esque one was horrible) - Should be an online game with several servers that only allow 47 players online at once (ranking automatically gets fixed whenever one logs out and another logs in). You can move up the ranks through battling other Claymores and Youma. You'll have your own set of unique skills based on the skill tree you'll build.

5. High School of the Dead (don't hate me lol) - Just your typical zombie game with hentai ecchi scenes.

1. Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka - Though... life itself is a game.

2. Code Geass - RTS Gameplay

3. Akatsuki no Yona - Dynasty / Samurai Warriors Gameplay is popping in my head for this.

4. Akame ga Kill - Assassin's Creedish? idk

That is all i could think of.

1. Made in Abyss - Would be like Diablo 1 going down deeper into a labyrinth with increasing danger, but more like a survival game of sorts.

2. Demon Slayer or Claymore - Be your own demon/monster slayer working for the slaying organizations in a time separated from the mainline stories.

3. Dragon Ball Z - Yes I know DBZ games already exist, but one where you play as the Saiyans or the Freeza force and you conquer planets. Use those scouters to find the highest power levels to eliminate, then go all "destroy all humans" route with the Oozaru.

4. Dororo - Fight monsters get body parts back, simple basic fun gaming.

5. Saga of Tanya the evil - Could be like battlefield.

There are already Cowboy Bebop games for the PS1 and PS2. Same with Ghost in the Shell. The GITS game for PS1 came out in the US back in the day. I rented it from Blockbuster!

Legend of the galactic heroes there's so much for there to be a game

There are plenty of them, even on Super Famicom, Saturn, and PS1 and MSX but they're Japan only

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is my list

Ganbare Genki
MF Ghost (it deserves its own series apart from the Initial D arcade games)
Kengan Ashura (or Omega)
Blue Lock (there might be a mobile game, but I don't play mobile games)
Tokyo Revengers (it could be like Kenka Bancho)

@jmoriarty84 didn't know there was a PS2 Dororo game thanks for the info. That's unfortunate Blue Lock only has a mobile game, though some mobile games may be good I find them to be the bane to video games.

I would say the following...

1) Puella Magi Madoka Magica

2) Sailor Moon

3) A Certain Scientific Railgun

4) Date a Live

5) Kantai Collection/Kancolle

I hope that answers your question.
