I'm shocked this has such a low rating and number of people who have watched it. Considering its brand appeal, art style and Bebop similarities I would have thought this would be much more widely appreciated (I've seen much more average anime get widespread acclaim).

This anime does something very different, its portrayal of sexuality is something I've never seen in 12 years and over 400 anime watched (which I think is due largely to the series being directed by a woman).

You should watch it. Especially if you like the style of something like Cowboy Bebop. Its stylistically very cool.

I give it love. It's in my top 5 anime and I had an avatar/sig from it for a while.

Are you talking about Lupin the Third: Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna?

I found it kinda boring compared to other things in the same franchise, and the art style was really off-putting. I gave it a 6.

It's a throwback to the earlier Lupin III anime (pilot film and early Green Jacket series eps, Mamo, etc.) and the manga, it's way on the other end of the spectrum from the Miyazaki version of the characters. I get why people don't go for it if they are a fan of the more Miyazaki-esque Lupin.

Well my favorites from the franchise were/are:

The Castle of Cagliostro
Secret of the Twilight Gemini
The Secret of Mamo
Lupin the 3rd TV 1
The Fuma Conspiracy
Farewell to Nostradamus
Blood Seal of the Eternal Mermaid
Lupin the 3rd TV 2 (which reminds me I need to finish this at some point)

...so I don't know there's a bit of both there. I do agree that the characters in the Fuiko Mine series felt "off" though.

I really loved the art stlye in the Fujiko series, but it was trying way too hard to be cool I felt. That coolness can work sometimes, but it needs a little camp, instead it just felt forced at times and took itself too seriously.
I only saw 3 episodes though so maybe thats not a good representation of the whole series.

Been wanting to watch it, but it doesn't feel right if I haven't finished Lupin the Third first. Stuck at episode 7. Probably that's why people who new to the franchise reluctant to watch it?

I bought the domestic bluray and enjoyed it immensely. Shame so few people actually watched it.

It might be, but it's really a misconception. Lupin III is like James Bond, you can jump in anywhere and catch up quick. All you need to know is that Lupin III is a master thief and grandson of the legendary thief Arsene Lupin, Jigen is his film noir style, Chicago mobster partner and Fujiko is his femme fatale love interest. If you know that, you can start just about anywhere. The only one I don't recommend people start with is Cagliostro, because Cagliostro Lupin is actually 10 years older than the Lupin we're used to, and you miss out on what Miyazaki was doing by aging him in that movie (but people love Miyazaki, so they start with it anyway).

Yep I get the gist of it after only 7 episodes of it. But I think I'm prioritizing Lupin first (not really a fan of Fujiko tbh) at least till I am familiarized with the characters' antics. Thanks for the info anyway.

The story does take a rather Gothic turn in the later episodes that I wasn't that fond of. Overall I found it an enjoyable if rather disjointed and sometimes disorienting show. I still like Okada Mari's script for AKB0048 better than this one. Having Okada and Yamamoto Sayo as the writer and director do make me feel less wary of recommending this show to female viewers though. I can always tell them the fanservice is what those ladies thought was appropriate, so who am I to complain?

I've yet to complete it, but from what I've seen I'd say very underrated indeed. It struck me as a zany hybridization of James Bond and Bebop, and while I've yet to be affected/invested in the characters like I'd hoped, its uniquely impressive style is a jaw-dropper. I really should finish it...

Saw some screens from Lupin shows, don't really like the artstyle. Thought about watching it because of some funny fanservice, but that's not enough reason.

Well it definitely got me into the series as I'm looking forward to the new lupin series.

It's been out for some time already, but for convenience: http://tinyurl.com/ThisLinkIsNotSuspciousAtAll

And it's wiser not to make a Lupin thread lest you want them plebs like the first one.
