Mmm, bread. I'd go with croissants despite their ambiguous bread status. Best bread I've made was a cinnamon-apple bread with a fine glaze and that crumbly sugar stuff on the top that comes from cooking powdered sugar as the water from the dough steams up on through, the glaze was from that same sugar liquifying and running down the sides. Somehow it didn't stick and was glorious. Daily-basis-wise I've gotta say flat bread is the way to go. Once upon a time I'd wake up every morning, mix some flour and water, kneed it out into blobby disks, toss it on the pan, and have freshly baked bread every day without undue hassle. Mayhaps one day the flat breads will return to my daily routine, but for now I can only roll about in nostalgia, not flour. |

I usually go with butter and cheese, sometimes I substitute butter for blue cheese and/or add cucumber slices. When it comes to toast, I sometimes eat it with jam on top. Since you asked, Warburton's Toastie bread is obviously the best kind. As the name suggests, it works wonderfully as toast: the soft, white and delicate texture is able to turn even the humble slice of buttered toast into a treat which is to be savoured. It may not be as prestigious as the French baguette or the Italian ciabatta, but there is much to be said for beauty in simplicity. Another much underrated form of baked wheat product is Polish bread. Like most Central European breads it has a thick crust and a heavy base, but it is unmolested by cumin and other additives, and is usually white rather than brown. It's often served with meat and lard, and while that may cause the uninitiated to gag slightly, those who dare to taste it will become as staunch a believer as any Polish Catholic. |

Mostly plain, my flatbread I eat plane and then do it with meats, cheeses, sometimes tomato sauce (each individually) to spice it up, my loafs I usually just munch on them since they're crispy and buttery and mushy already, and my tortillas I put tortilla stuff in for... like... enchiladas and tacos and stuff. |
