Would you live with someone who sings all the time?

So, I would consider myself to be one of those people which is why I am curious if most normal people would live with someone who sings all the time. Like, not just soft humming but full out "Let It Go" style song belting. All. The. Time. And let's say this person was pretty decent but not like Mariah Carey talented..yet. If you said no, what if I added in the condition that the person was your lover or close friend?

Sure, I sing all the time myself. As long as I'm not watching the news or something, it's fine.

Define "pretty decent."

That can represent quite a large range of skill, depending on whom you ask.

yes! we could sing together, but I guess it could be annoying if they do it way too much. it kind of depends on what you mean by all the time because there is a limit for everything :P

That's like asking "Would you live with me?"

Because I sing all the time.

Simple, you just surgically remove their mouths.
Like they did to that psuedo-Deadpool in that God awful Wolverine movie.

For Christ sake. Every bloody teen wants to be a fucking singer in our days. Reality shows have brainwashed you people.
Enough with this signing love. Do something else. We have enough singers to last us for the whole century.

Excuse me? Singing is one of my favourite things to do. It's such a complex musical instrument to grow in and just doing it cheers me up.

Why are we still here? Just to suffer? Every night, I can feel my leg... and my arm... even my fingers. The body I've lost... the comrades I've lost... won't stop hurting... It's like they're all still there. You feel it, too, don't you? I'm gonna make them give back our past."

NO NO NO NO NO!
I hate people who sing all of the time.

After living near someone who loved to sing for hours everyday for a year (with thin walls mind you), I hate singers now. If I had a dollar for the amount of times you couldn't study or watch a program because you had to hear a high pitched "I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY ONEEEEE" over and over for hours, I think that I would have a few hundred dollars in my pocket.

I also find people who sing casually in public very rude.

I had a roommate last year who would continuously sing random Country songs terribly and loudly when he was walking in/ out of the suite. I found it quite funny most of the time, aside from when it was around 3 in the morning lol.

He also attempted rap every once in a while.

Ok this might just be me being bitter but I find a lot of singers really obnoxious... The ones who are really good tend to think that means they can just burst out singing whenever they want (and ughh I hate when there's a group of them and they're just all singing) and it really pisses me off. Ok tbh I'm just being jealous because I'm a quiet person in the first place so I wouldn't feel comfortable singing in public like that, plus the thing I would want to show off to the world is my flute playing but it's not like I can go around carrying my flute soooo yeah I'm just jealous >.<

I value people who are considerate towards their neighbors.
The hours of singing per day was already bad enough, but the fact that the guy even ignored complaints from his neighbors made it even worse.

That logic.
Sorry to tell you, but I have no interest in music in general.

Go be butthurt over the fact that not all of your neighbors want to listen to your "music" into all hours of the night, and they might actually be trying to do something important (like studying for an exam or working from home) while you're singing away all you want.

I don't live in an apartment, and I don't sing at all hours of the night.

The thing about your initial post that bothered me the most, was when you said "I also find people who sing casually in public very rude."

I mean, somebody humming "The Sound of Silence" while walking down the street would actually bother you?

Well the person I'm talking about did (as was hinted at in my first post when I mentioned thin walls), so perhaps you should try to understand why someone would be annoyed before you start flinging attempts at insults their way over them expressing their annoyance.

Humming isn't singing in public. Humming isn't even really singing.
Singing in public is when you burst out singing on a crowded bus or in the middle of Target.

Putting aside your condescension, I do agree that musicians living in apartments should be mindful/considerate of their neighbors. I mean I'm a pianist and I'd hate to live next to a guy who practices on his acoustic every single day. There are other options, like renting out practice rooms, studios, practicing outside (for people with portable instruments), compromising and communicating with your neighbors by creating a time schedule etc. The world doesn't revolve you (no not you Cersei, Working), so the fact that other people might not care for your music isn't surprising. To them it might just be noise. :P

So yeah, stop being a rude fuck and go practice somewhere else!

You're missing the point. Not everyone wants to hear or notice you, no matter how "good" you think you sound, especially when they're trying to focus on something else.

Unless they have some kind of special permission to from the store for an event, yes.
It tends to disturb people who are trying to shop, especially when the store is crowded.

I have seen workers have to ask people who were singing to take it outside because they were receiving noise complaints, and they were in the way of the people who were actually trying to shop.

Exactly. I can't see how people living in apartments can't understand that they might be disturbing their neighbors, or don't understand why the people who have to endure their music get angry over it.

In the building that I lived in, there was an empty lounge in the basement which people hardly used. Nobody lived on the basement floor either (it was all storage, spare rooms, laundry, vending machines and the lounge). My neighbor could have gone there to sing, but instead he liked to bother the people around him so that he could be in the comfort of his own room.
There are other options if people are willing to look for them.
