| So like a thumbs up/down system? I've seen other sites that made use of such a system that was called a "morale" system. There it was abused to create massive flame wars all the time. I don't exactly have good experiences with such systems also because I was the one who had to clean the mess afterwards ^^ |

| Well only thing it would be good for is reducing empty quoting. However it will also create the dilemma of users making multiple accounts just to give themselves thumbs up and some other people down as that is what happens on many places with such a system. |

| I say this every time a reputation system or a semi-reputation system idea arises on any community forums: I am not against it as long as there would be no negative/minus options. Batoto is an example of an upvote-only system and I cannot say I have anything against it. Therefore, I'm up for either the current ways, or with positive feedback system only. I'm heavily against negative reputation. |

| One thing I really liked on a different forum I used to frequent was a kudos system in which every user only got a certain number of "kudos" they could give per month (and it was a very small number; four, perhaps) to other users as a means of thanking them or taking note of a particularly stupendous post. I never saw the system in any way abused. Perhaps because it was only positive and because you were limited to only a few kudos per month, people took it seriously. (It also felt really good when you received kudos, since you knew people only had a few to give...verses, say, "likes" on Facebook, which have become so ubiquitous as to be next-to-worthless.) |
