So I came across many comments which say "without religion this world would be a better place" or "Religion is the only cause of war" and etc,so do you agree with that or disagree? is religion the main reason why we fucked up?if you had a choice to ban religion would you do it?Do you hate or love religion?

For me I think it isn't the main reason......like it could be a tool, but not a main reason like it's all about power and shit that has nothing to do with religion.

Duplicate thread.

To answer your question, that's impossible. As much as I don't like religion, we still need it.

Definitely not. If idiots never existed, that would be a different thing.

As long as religion is kept private and doesn't mess with the state, I'm fine with it.

My personal opinion is that religious people are needy and unevolved. Sorry but u guys keep human potential down.

Religion is old and outdated. Clearly faked, give it up already, dogmas are just plain stupid.

Without religion, people invent another dogma to give them an excuse for being assholes, just look at Feudalism, Zionists, Nazis, KKK, black power groups, communists, radfems and SJWs.

The world already is a "better" place than it used to be, no point trying to push our luck.

If you erased its existence ceteris paribus, perhaps.

It's not that religion itself deserves to be blamed, but it has been misused and has served as a reason and justification for people to commit harmful acts, and from a utilitarian perspective removing that reason might prevent them from being able to act on their motivations, since they often require support, which a common belief provides (but to be fair, that's the case with just about any type of belief, not just religious ones). In addition, religion creates even more social divisions than there already are.

But realistically, if religion never existed, people would have just found something else to create problems over, which would no doubt be just as bad if not worse than the ones caused by religion, and the concept of virtue would likely be less common among people in general, so most likely not.

The core "virtues" are completely separate from religion though. Being honest, trustworthy and helping your kin is a evolutionary beneficial trait, a thing that will always be valued.

I don't know.

For example, when people say that the christian religion slowed down the progress of the technology, they're right. Millions of people died because of that : Medicine wasn't properly established in Europe, doctors waited til Renaissance to study dead bodies and make significant progress.

But was it a bad thing, given the fact that technology is currently going too fast for us ? The human being can potentially make the world a better place or destroy it (thanks science c:), but is still struggling with money problems... Are we ready for our own technology ? (That is another question though~)

For each bad thing the religion brought, a good thing came up too. That's what i think about the existence of religion.

I think people should learn to respect each other's beliefs, and not make a fuss about it.

Religion helps thousands of people, no matter what you might think. SO many people who've grown desperate and found some kind of solace that helped them stand up and face life again. People shouldn't just focus on the bad shit about whichever topic is being discussed.

If religion didn't exist, I think people would be even more lost.

How is it all a huge lie ? It hasn't been proved by science that a higher being exists, that's correct. But saying it's all a huge fucking lie might not be the best way to approach it, considering how sensitive the topic is. There are theories revolving around it, some scientists believe that god exists, some don't.

It's all theory they can't even prove that god doesn't exist can they?

Nothing has been proven yet. But of course you have the right to believe that everything's a huge lie.
