They're not gay, and often times they're complete perverts themselves.... but then when women actually do start throwing themselves upon him, the dude starts backing away and acting like it's a problem. It pisses me off... I just wanna kick all of thier asses. In real life, men would kill to be in their positions, but here they are... complaining about being the luckiest man alive... If I could get my hands on the dude from Rosaria Vampire I'd rip his face off and wear it as my own, so moka would fall for me. And it makes even less sense that the girls like him in the first place? Why? Why are all these hot chicks so obsessed with that little dipshit? and it's not just in harem. In DearS, a magical girlfriend, it was even worse. A dude had a girl who's willing to do whatever he says and follow his every command and is pissed off about that... He wasn't a spineless pussy like the rest, he was a legitamate dickbag. I literally wanted to beat him up every time I saw him. And in Nodame Cantabile, a josei romance, the dude has the same problem. Why is it anime characters can't see how lucky they are? Why can't we have main protagonists in these kinds of anime like Hideki from Chobits, and the dude from Heaven's Lost Property... Those are how you do it. Because even though they're annoyed by their girls constant mistakes and screw-ups... They realize still... that they'd some of the luckiest guys in the world, and they don't forget it. And I assume most magical girlfriend and harem anime exist to be self-insert fantasies for the male viewer? Well... how many guys fantasize about being surrounded by girls and being a guy who either A. Too much of a pussy to get with them... or B. Being a complete asshole and shunning them? It not only makes no sense, but it goes against the very purpose of the anime... I'm sorry, but I can't relate to any dude that's got a hot, cute, nice girl after him, and he shuns her like a dick... I just can't relate to any dude like that. |

In fact on my priority list of anime watching, harem/ecchi are at the bottom of the list. Not all these anime like that have that problem... Heaven's lost property is an ecchi, magical girlfriend with some harem aspects... but the main character is actually one that makes sense. |
