How do you generally respond to people who has the exact opposite opinion than yours in one particular subject?

For example:
You support gun control while the other person wants all guns banned
One supports abortion and one completely opposes it.

How do you deal with these situations? Do you find yourself getting angry easily, defending your opinion very aggressively, lash out at the other person, or calmly tries to persuade them? Or perhaps, do you not really care at all?

You do know that you can argue those with facts and all that shit, right?

To me it seems you're trying to mix stuff up with your title.

The title is vague for a reason so people read the OP.

You could just fix it.

You also need to fix the OP. Considering the definition of "opinion".

First person I've seen who doesn't associate Gun control with gun bans. Well done OP.

Arguments are the best, they're so much fun for all parties involved. I wish MAL had more people willing to participate in heated arguments.

I don't even bother. I very rarely find fruitful development from any debate or discourse. At the end of it all, it's not unusual for people to walk away with their heads in the clouds thinking "I'm right you're wrong" no matter what the turn out is.

As long as they can intelligently support their opinions I won't get upset, ignorance of one's own ideals will have the possibility to set me off though.

I normally just try to defend my opinion but I'll try to not getting angry and just stay calm. I usually just try to laugh and smile to make him/her not getting angry at me. It's always work though

If he/she has a different opinion than me and they don't choose their words wisely I usually getting upset lok

Generally I don't react. To many statistics and variables to even consider myself being on the higher ground.

Behold of my awesomeness~
controversial and/or sensitive topics likely devolve into the same repetitive, derogatory, abusive, and harassing comments can no longer be posted.
But my feels.

I wouldn't care unless they have the obvious intent to challenge the validity of my own opinion, then I would explain using facts. I try to stay away from hostility and ad hominem, though, they ultimately just make both sides more pissed. If not, I'd usually just chuckle, tell them they're entitled to think what they want, then walk away.

I just ignore them.

To me it is stupid to argue back against someone over the Internet because most of the time it turn to both party flinging insult back at one another and becoming a stalemate.

Sure, that can happen sometimes, but it's a rarity, and that's all about the attrition.

You're entitled to your own opinion but not your own facts, I just accept that they are wrong and will always be wrong... or something like that.

I like to hear all arguments for both sides and determine which is the most logical, try to keep emotions out of it.

99% of the time people are really stubborn and can't articulate themselves anyway. So usually tell them to go to hell because I could give a fuck if you disagree with me. I only have those conversations with people I have respect for.

Some topics are subjective and open to debate, but others have clear evidence that objectively favour one side over the other. For example when someone says that homosexuality is a choice, I can obviously react badly because there's no evidence that people choose to be gay (or straight) but there's also evidence that it's a biological feature... Therefore I am right on that one.

And if you continue to disagree with me, I'll blow your head you shitty second class vampire.

I don't really care. Even if their opinion is something that is objectively wrong (let's say they think their are more people living in Nebraska than California), obviously this isn't true, but it would take effort to prove them wrong and at a certain point I just question "why bother?". I do sometimes argue points since I do like to argue, but as for actually trying to sway someones opinion, I know that most topics that you will find yourself actually getting into an argument about aren't "simple" and will take way too much time and effort (if even possible) to change someone's mind. There are also people out there who believe that science is "witchcraft", or that the Earth was made 10,000 years ago, arguing your points to these people will seriously just waste your time. It isn't even fun at that point and I try and avoid debates of any kind with people like this to the best of my capabilities.
