| I've got some questions can somebody please help? In the episode Kirei was saying how if you kill the master the servant will vanish as well so it's quickest to kill the master. But then he goes on to say as long as you have your command seals even after your servant dies, you can take over someone else's servant when their master dies. Doesn't that completely contradict itself? How do you take someone else's servant when they will disappear with their master? Also Kirei said the Grail is incomplete unless all but one master remains alive. Doesn't that go against what Rin said that you don't need to kill Master to participate in the holy grail war? Kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it? Sounds like they are just involved for the fun of it from Rin's explanation/perspective. Please no spoilers I've only seen Fate/zero and this. If gets revealed later on just let it at that please. Thanks |

If gets revealed later on just let it at that please. Thanks As it was explained in Ep0 and this episode, the Master is essentially servant's mana source and mana is what the servant functions on. If to portray it as a candle in a room full of oxygen, the candle would be the servant and the oxygen would be mana the master provides. If there's limited amount of oxygen, it will eventually run out and candle will stop burning. So would it not be easier to make sure the supply of oxygen is cut off to the room, than to risk getting burned by the candle? You don't need to kill masters, but as both Rin and Kirei said - its the easiest way to deal with it, as servants are generally quite powerful, while master - but a human. You technically need only one servant to be alive, as said in this episode. Kirei and RIn both simply explained in different ways it can be achieved - you either outright defeat servants or you chose the easier way and kill the masters, which would eventually kill servants too. As it was said in this episode -its the endgame that matters - that there's only one servant left to grab the fully complete grail. Whether that's enough or how and when grail completes itself is left ambiguous(for now), but Kirei seems to firmly believe that the Master must prove himself worthy of it and not simply "survive through" the war. |

I only read half of the Fate route yet, maybe he changes later, but now he is way too overprotective, selfless, just mister perfect. I wish he would be more egocentrical, even a little more evil, since these type of characters tend to be most interesting from POV. But maybe he will change, what am I ranting. |

But if you hate him in the beginning you will slowly grow to like him overtime until in the end you couldn't imagine he would be any different. This goes even further in Ataraxia where there are many hillarious scenes with him (and where you can clearly see how much Nasu's writing improved). |

| Finally seen the episode. Just about what I expected from it, infodump + that Illya and Berserker tease at the end. Even so, I didn't feel bored at all (can't feel bored when you have Jouji Nakata talking through almost the whole episode, plus those Rin faces). Some observations (under spoiler because somewhat long): Very much looking forward to the next episode (Saturday looks so close yet so far). |
UBW is basically a route about three tsunderes constantly bashing their heads against one another.  |

It actually started deviating from the end of the last episode, when Shirou used Command Spell to stop Saber from attacking Archer. Their visit to the glorious Rejoice-sama is somewhat final part of the common part of all three routes. EDIT: Yuss, I sniped and got sniped at the same time! |
