I really liked it, it seems pretty interesting.

The only thing that bothered me was that they mixed up Galileo's theories (at least in the English subs since I don't know Japanese)... The mother said Galileo was a promoter of Copernicus' geocentric theory, and she even said that the geocentric theory upended the theory of heliocentrism, while it's actually the whole opposite.

And then the father came and corrected her, or are we watching an entirely different show? Heh.

What I meant is that Galileo rejected the geocentric theory, and was actually a supporter of the heliocentric theory, but maybe it's my fault, I wasn't clear enough.

Panda made a mistake, but you are making another mistake. What the father corrected the mother on was that she claimed Galileo invented the new way of looking at the universe, where as the father said no it wasn't Galileo but rather Copernicus who proved it. So Panda was wrong in claiming that Galileo promoted Copernicus work, in that she didn't mention Copernicus and that Galileo discovered it. You are wrong in thinking that the father's intervention was about the confusion between geo and helio centric models.

So either the translation was wrong and in this universe the earth IS the center of the universe, or there was just a mistake in the translation. I think it is the latter. When the mother is going on her little rampage the sisters are talking over her, so it is very possible that someone misheard something. In Japanese it is very easy to get the opposite meaning of something if you are not paying attention.

In reality they are both wrong because Copernicus did not "prove" the heliocentric order of the universe, his system was just marginally better than Ptolemy's. The hindrance to both Copernicus and Galileo (and for that matter Ptolemy) was the belief that orbits had to be circular. It was Kepler and his elliptical orbits that proved the heliocentric model.

Yeah, that's true it was Kepler who proved the heliocentrical model, but I was referring to the fact they confused heliocentric and geocentric models... which is, as you say, probably a mistake of the translator.

This does seem very good. The atmosphere reminds me not only of Ghibli, but also of Fractale (which, incidentally, reminded me of Ghibli a lot.)

Is it just me, or is this season unusually good? I mean, in terms of the number of good anime. There's always two or three I stick with, but it looks like a good deal of them are really worth watching this season.

That's some fine art there, and Hozuki is BOSS piloting the lolgoldfish ship ^^

I already have my shipping now, after only 1 episode. Looking forward for further development in the romance department, if there is any.

Edit: And dat scooter, man I want that.

Edit2: One of the best of the season, so far among that I have watched.

Edit3: I totally like this Cicinho dude's voice, and it's easily recognizable, somehow I've heard it from somewhere, so he's Kamiya Hiroshi, huh? Just went through his list, so he voiced Michael from Makai Ouji huh, no wonder it sounds familiar, but the one closest to this role is his Trafalgar Law role from One Piece, that's some awesometastic voice! <3

Well shit, did I just saw Vincent Law as one of the characters and possible antagonist here in the OP? XD

Speaking of w/c, OP was the 2nd catchiest of all OPs this season so far for me, with Aoki Hagane reigning the top.

Did anyone else notice that the girl at the end who was watching them who said "There you are... three Galileo sisters." was the same girl who cried for help when Hazuki was attacked in the bathroom at the bar? Honestly this makes me think the real antagonist won't actually be the red-haired sky pirate.

Yeah, forget it. Dropped.
I agree that loli's are becoming a bit overdone in anime, but I'm fine with it. But I only see one hentai that he directed... and only one ecchi besides that that he's connected to... though I haven't seen any animes on his list of work, so I guess I can't really say much about his works.

Hahaha. I like this. It has so much potential for this season. The OP is also pretty catchy and I could listen to it the whole day. The anime itself also kinda reminded me of Mouretsu Pirates with all that pirate thing and stuff plus the mech ships although this is more interesting. Hozuki is also interesting as the brain of the sisters. Nerd loli everyone? lol
The goldfish is also cute. I wonder if it will have its own female avatar.

It's quite unfortunate that you are making a mistake too. I only wrote that the father came and corrected her, without any mention about what he was correcting. So you are wrong in assuming what I was thinking.

Ah, so in short your reply was nonsensical. My apologizing for giving you the credit in thinking you were responding to the issue the person you quoted in your response raised.

Gun_Blazinsky said:
Also, there's a difference between "prove" and "propose".

Yes, but there in lies another problem. Copernicus was not the first person to propose an heliocentric model. Aristarchus, the ancient Greek astronomer, proposed the theory back in the 3rd century B.C. and there were other astronomers at that time who supported it.

The problem was at the time the Geocentric model was the more logical of the two theories, heliocentrism couldn't account for several observable sets of data that seemed to confirm geocentrism. So far from people accepting Geocentrism because of human arrogance, it was actually the rational decision to make based on the information at hand.

Copernicus claim to fame isn't that he proposed or proved heliocentrism, but rather that for the first time in history he could, through detailed measurements taken with better instruments, show that heliocentrism was marginally better at predicting orbits than geocentrism, which given the wide spread obsession with Astrology at that time, was big news. But this is a far way from proving anything. Of course Copernicus' book sparked renewed interest in this debate, and this interest eventually proved that we live in a heliocentric universe, so he does deserve a great deal of credit, however this process is far more complex and interesting than the "white hat" (Copernicus and Galileo), Black Hat (RCC) story that we have been told.

Animation quality's amazing for A-1, like vividred level. The techy bike also reminded me of Akane's newspaper bike.

Synopsis seemed like historical mystery. But it started with awesome MECHAAAAAAAAAAA! (just fanboying ignore)
Mecha/pirates in genre would've attracted more interest than the overdone 3 girl mc formula.

Hozuki said sorry to shooting the stalker drone. She loves machines? I like how each sister is competent in their own way. Mystery begins with 2 organizations attacking the family. Are the suited men after the same thing as Araragi/Izaya?

5/5

Episode loony, all too much bulk and certain things are really fun! LOL
Plot in this first episode is so thrown in case you do not get satisfaction from just reading the synopsis I perceive a certain interest. Narrative that sets the stage in a not too intriguing and a little misleading on the Italians! ASD
The characters stand out for their characterization and character, but much more obvious to the costume design!
For now, the only thing that affects more than the PCs is very good work done by A1 Pictures!
I hope, improved in terms of plots of the narrative.

Lol I seriously don't see why people thought that it was bad. I can't see why people think that it's boring either, because if you're interested in the synopsis, I don't see how the first episode could bore anyone, especially when this stood out among the other anime aired in this season.

I know I know I try to be too realistic again... but it just bothers me:

Galileo Galilei had 3 children, 2 daughters and 1 son.

His daughters became nuns and never had offspring.

Couldn't find out if his son had children, but even if, his last name was Gamba.
Vincenzo Gamba.

Even if he had children, his children would not be Galileis...

Also this clearly plays in the future, so at least 500 years after Gallileo.

Simple math: If one generation has about 2-3 children and a generation is about 25-30 years old this makes 17-20 generations.

So we can deduct 2^17 or 2^20 or 3^17 or 3^20

Which would be around
2^17 =131.072 children
2^20 = 1.048.576 children

Needless to say if each of those children would have had 3 children instead, the number would be even higher.

Based on this we can simply say, that everyone alive in europe at that point would be somewhat related to Gallileo Galilei, not just our 3 cute moe girls.

And also the DNA would be so diluted that there would be no real similarities between them and their ancestor.

Lastely, skill is mostly not inherent by DNA but learned. There is merely a small potential which gives a better chance in being great in one thing.

/rant

Oh but overall:

this show is really fucking stupid. Dropped.

really liked this episode, the ending was quite intense and did go a little more relaxed towards the end so can see why some people are a little confused, the scooter was awesome, i actually didn't care that much for the AI goldfish just seemed a little weird for me, the sisters designs were really nice, liking their different personalities! also the antagonist had a very unique and funky style as well xD an indian vibe almost......

out of all the fall anime this anime had the most unique and interesting premise so i just hope it can build from here and tie it all together and set the tone more!

Downloaded this series on a whim and I couldn't care much about the girls but love the tech on this one. That small briefcase sized folding scooter which has a launcher got me hook, line and sinker. The goldfish-everything, from the armed airship to the hologram AI were cool too!

Galileo and Copernicus before him proposed the geocentric model in their world and not the heliocentric model? Oh my! @_@

The apparent villain who seem to like the law student flunkie sister on this episode doesn't look much like a villain to me, strikes me a rogue type kinda guy but I could be wrong.
