Gokigenyou―

I think most of us already knew what's going to happen in the end, but nevertheless wanted to see how it turns out. Yumi giving Touko the rosario in the presence of Sachiko at the end was the perfect ending <3

Although for me there's nothing really amazing about this series, i like the way they make this shoujo-ai stuff work out so well. Honestly, I wouldn't mind if there's going to be a 5th, but i doubt that'll happen.

I loved the way Touko explained her past on the date. It was nice to see Yumi giving her Rosari to Touko, but I thought it could have been a dream of Yumi's since they went back the the train scene. I really loved this episode.

Usually I talk too much but I can just summarize it to <3 today

That relatively abrupt albeit lovely ending leaves it totally open for 5th, though, OVA series (probably) or otherwise. I'll buy stacks of pizza for everyone I know if that's what it takes

I think it was pretty clear, that Yumi giving Touku her Rosari in front of the statue with Sachiko watching was how Yumi planned it would go. Not word for word but, on train;
Yumi;Just wait a bit longer, and tomorrow...
Scene at Lilian "Yumi gives Touku her Rosari in front of the statue with Sachiko watching"
Scene back on the train, both asleep holding hands still and heads resting on each other.

I also believe there is plenty of room for a 5th series, even if it is OVA, but as LightYagamiKira said, something bad is likely to happen, almost certain. Chances are Rei would have left or be about to leave, Sachiko moving on as well, but stil part of Lilian. Just these would shake up the show so much, it might be hard to create a 5th even though we are aware these events are planned, not having Yumi and Sachiko together as they have been will make it seem like a different show altogether, even more so if she was faded out like Sei was(sadly i came to accept that, but loved it whenever she showed up) though i doubt they could do that with Sachiko.

Since i see the scene of Yumi giving Touko the Rosari as her dream,or a scene showing how she planned to do it, without any conformation it happened, i gave it a 4/5. One of the things i have loved about this show throughout the seasons, is it always turned out the way you wanted it to, might not be completely how you expected but the results are the same. Not giving me the conformation of the Rosari, is the first time its let me down in a ending, though for most people its pretty certain it will turn out the way it shown in that last scene.

I think it should have happened sooner, the events of this episode, so we could of gotten a episode with Yumi and Touko as seours, and showing them with a deeper relationship due to the events of this episode, and with Touko accepting Yumi and sharing a loving relationship mirroring Yumi and Sachiko. If we had gotten something like that, i think there would of been no real need for a 5th season, whereas now, we havent seen anything of their true seour relationship.

Well i could go on all day, but i will leave it there for now, and see if any bothers to read it and maybe i will reply accordingly.

It's even better the second time. The second time I watched it in Subs, made it easier for me to understand the show, I only understand a small amount of Japanese.

There is room for a 5th season or an OVA. With Sachko in about half of the season as she graduates and Yumi Becoming a Rose.

I would also like to see more of Touko's and Yumi's relationship. Damn! I do not understand why I like this show. :)

and then they went home and got it on, all night long.....haha j/k

this was a really good ending. i know they are going to make more. there is no way the story wold just end there. probably an ova break and then another 13'er a year after probably.

this is probably one of the very few drama types that is really enjoyable to watch. a lot of work has clearly been put into this, and the little stuff are not really anything to worry about.

Ah, another great episode. However, if this indeed is the last season, then I wish they would've tied up the loose ends around the current roses as well...

I need to rewatch this season some other time. Given my schedule, I really didn't have much time for it... Aside from the amusement park date, nothing else jumps out when I reflect on the season. Sigh. >_>

They could definitely milk the series for another ova!

But anyway, although I do the HDTV, I never actually watch it. Get SDTV > work on it > delete > archive HDTV, lol.

That was a beautiful ending, and it looks pretty certain for a season 5 ^_^

I can't get over how Sachiko looked so grown-up and elegant from the very start, but Yumi is still such a little girl. We need to see her grow into a confident soeur.

I really hope there is a new season, but as long as they show some growth in Touko's character next week then I'll be able to breath a sigh of relief and finally stop worrying about her.

It was such a relief when Touko finally explained her past. We've been teased about it several times, but finally it's all clear.

I thought it was funny that her step-mum looked so much more like her than her birth-mum in the picture. I guess drill-hair is more nurture than nature :D

Although it's not directly shown, since the scene on the train with Yumi giving Touko the rosary was just a representation of the next day, it is kind of obvious that on the next day Yumi would give Touko the rosary and that Touko would accept.

even if the scene were yumi is giving her rosary to touko, is just a dream of her. iam pretty sure its going to be like this on the next day... well unless someone murders one of them or both, but i wouldnt count on that! Well i hope its going to be just like in yumis dream but the way this season ended i somewhat have a bad feeling or hunch about something may terrible happening if a 5th is going to come...

anyway, i dont know why but i love this series... i cant tell what exactly, its just a pleasure to watch it.
i wouldnt mind watching an 8th season of it, because i knew it wouldnt be boring to watch even if its somewhat the same thing as before!

PS: i love nearly every character of that show :3

The legendary introduction is back with the last episode ! :)

So touko has quite a sad past, i was moved by her story.I was also very happy when Yuli and Touko held hands in the car ^^
But they cleraly omitted the official ceremony of the rosary, so i suppose we'll see that in the next season. (and it would make sense, we would have Yumi x Touko, and Sachiko's graduation. Perfect way on completing the marimite saga^^)

In my opinion next season will be few OVAs about Sachiko's graduation - it'll probably be sad and melancholic with lots of teary scenes. Then the marimite story should continue till Yumi's graduation - she's the main character afterall... ^^'

I hate Touko so much, ever since she appeared in Haru. I really wish that Kanako would have been represented a little more; I preferred her becoming the petite soeur, besides, I despise Touko's haircut.

More than anything, I miss Sachiko so much, being this as her last year, but then again if they came up with a 5th season, it wouldn't be too hard for to do it in such a little time frame.

It would be interesting to follow how Yumi isn't able to see Sachiko so often and how she acts with Touko. OAV would be maybe better than serie with 13 episodes.

And we wanna kniw who will be Yoshino's petite souer, she didn't have one yet right ? *fish's memory*

It's hard to see an anime with such a perfect end.

This season, and 3rd, weren't as relaxing as the previous ones, but well... I won't watch them to sleep.

I really wanted to see an inner Touko-chan, surely like most of you. The inner side of a tsundere actress. I feel a little pity for Kanako, but it's her fault for building up a character over Yumi.

Although I'm a follower of comedy and great plots, I feel glad of watching Marimite. Almost proud. I will always keep a Gokigenyou in my heart.

But no, I'm not interested in a 5th season. If I really need more yuri stories from Lillian, I'll read fanfics. Surely there are a lot out there. Period.

Well... if there could be a season centered on Sei-sama... *¬*

I wanted more SachikoxYumi! It seems like Sachiko needs Yumi more than I originally thought.

I loved this anime *^*, what a wonderfull story, I wish I had watched it before.

It has a lot of lovely characters (Sei-sama <3~) with their respective great developments ,I was surprised by how much yumi's personality changed from being a sachiko-centered girl to be a more mature girl, onee-sama and future Rosa Chinesis.

I can't help but wish for a 5th season... Knowing that it's impossible, I'll go and read the novels now.

This episode was a good ending to the fourth season. I also hope for more, but given that many years have now passed since the fourth was made, it is looking less and less likely. In the meantime, the only way to continue the story will be through the medium of the fan-translated light novel.

Since the second season, the series has gradually explored Touko's character. She is a tsundere, certainly a common character type in anime, but she is also unique, because the series gets to the root of her tsundere personality. Finally, in this episode, her life story is revealed, although there were hints in earlier episodes, and her personality and behavior now make perfect sense. Yumi also learned how to deal with her, just as she earlier learned how to deal with Sachiko, and she brought Touko out of her prickly shell - and was probably the only person who could have done it. I would love to see how their relationship develops beyond this point. The entire story line involving Touko is an excellent exploration of the tsundere personality, and this episode is a suitable culmination.
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

MariMite will always have a special place in my heart. I've re-watched S1 to S4 so many times but there's always this empty feeling every time I finish watching. I love all the characters, the setting is like a dream and the relationships between the soeurs and the Yamayurikai members were just so well-developed, you can't help but love them. I will forever have a soft spot for Sei.

It's just too bad though...it's been five years but no season 5 in sight :(

I really loved this anime and I loved this ending too.

We don't need to see Yumi giving Touko the rosary because the answer is obvious after all.I think that what matters is that Touko finally understood what Yumi meant to her and she could finally face herself and yumi with no fear and accept herself and her past without having to hide herself from people .

I'm glad that this season decided to focus on Touko's character and her relationship with Yumi .She was definitely one of the most complex and most interesting character in this show a long with Sei from season 1 .The fact that you have to guess what she's thinking most of the time because she's always hiding under a mask is why she's so fascinating as a character.I'm not a huge fan of Kugimiya Rie but she did a marvelous job here as Touko .

All the characters were wonderful and had good development too.I grew to love these characters over the seasons (each and everyone of the them)I really liked the Yamayurikai /sœur thing and I also like how they don't make this an obvious yuri series like other series .

Very elegant and beautiful series .

Wow what an experience Maria-sama ga Miteru has been. Can't believe it's over.

I have to admit this was a great episode, but I couldn't really enjoy it as much as I wanted to, or rather I was disappointed thinking about how this would ultimately be the final episode for the series. Touko's story was heartbreaking and that scene of her telling Yumi was very touching. I'm happy that Touko and Yumi will finally be soeurs, and even happier that Sachiko is present in Yumi's vision of the ceremony.

I can't help but wonder about everything else though, like Nana chan, the graduation and fate of the seniors, somebody f i n a l l y explaining Kashiwagi and his feelings, but I guess I have no choice but to put all that aside, and just appreciate the 4 seasons that we were all able to get.

Well we can imply she did. I'm note sure if the scene where Yumi gives Toko the rosary in front of Sachiko and Mother Maria is a dream or was done prior to their trip. Regardless, I enjoyed the series overall.

I'm still getting used to Toko's relationship with Yumi. Hopefully if another season comes then they get focused, along with some Noriko and Shimako. Then there's Yoshino who still didn't get a little sister.

Watching this episode was sad in multiple ways...Touko's story and the fact this is likely to be the last episode of Marimite forever.

Watching all four seasons, accompanying the characters as they develop and grow has been amazing. I always felt a great sense of tranquility and tenderness seeing the depth of friendship and love.

I wish they would continue the story...there is so much left untold.

At the beginning of Maria-sama ga Miteru, I could already tell it was something special, but I wasn't sure how to treat it. My mistake came when I saw this show pegged as a dramatic shoujo-ai. Seeing as my experience with the genre revolves around Strawberry Panic, I was obviously off to a bad start.

I think only really started getting into Maria-sama ga Miteru towards the end of the second season. By then, I could tell that beyond its serene atmosphere, it was trying something underneath. I was told early on to not expect romance nor serious drama, and instead treat the show as one which follows the lives and relationships of the characters as they develop. In this however, I made two mistakes: there's no romance, but there is love. Also, there's no serious drama, but there is drama that is treated as something serious.

First, there is love, but it's not a kind of love that can be really defined. Suguru actually spoke on this before, where "love" doesn't strictly mean romance, nor is it something that can be quantified. That's not a large revelation, but for this context, it's a driving force for the show. So much that I've actually had concerns for how clingy the characters in this show get. The over reliance the characters have on the older characters sometimes turn into obsession and possessiveness, which make the younger characters seem helpless, inept, and in the worst cases, selfish. Still, when the characters are simply going about their daily lives, that when I'm enjoying Maria-sama ga Miteru the most. For when the show is probably praised the most, I suppose that would be the dramatic parts.

Yes, the show has no serious drama, but I once compared Lillian Girls' Academy to a small garden straight out of a holy text. I still stand by that, as it's a pure place full light and fluffy feelings, all easily shattered by the smallest strain in the characters' relations. There weren't any big moments like bureaucratic interference, moving away, life-threatening hospitalization, or deaths. However, because the show so heavily revolves around the characters' relationships, it's those very relationships that the show weighs down on. As such, anything, even the slightest bump, would knock the whole show off balance. I've always had problems with those moments, as I dislike watching the characters cry and cling to each other. Few things in the show warrants such a reaction, so when it comes up, it feels like the show's attempt to keep things eventful.

Still, with all that aside, I didn't enjoy Maria-sama ga Miteru for its attempts to develop its characters in the context of the plot. Rather, I enjoyed this show for its pleasantries, found in watching everyone grow as people, not characters. It's a subtle difference, the former implies that this show is trying something smart. I don't see that. Rather, I see it as a show where young people are stumbling about, trying to find their way through life. Clumsy, awkward, full of scrapes and bruises - Maria-sama ga Miteru is full of encounters and departures, and really, they don't mean anything more than what the characters, and the viewers, make of them.

At least, that's what I, over a month of pacing this show out, managed to decipher. I admit I saw depth in many of the character, particularly in Sei, Yumi, Sachiko, and Touko, but they never seemed important. Instead, I saw character depth being used to develop the characters' interactions and relationships first and foremost. Higher priority was always placed on how the characters saw and treated each other, rather than what they were as characters in the show. If Maria-sama ga Miteru was indeed meant to be one with strong underlying themes or character depth, then it's worth a rewatch. But, for now, I'll treat it as a little transient piece of paradise and leave it at that.

As an ending note, I could have sworn I recognized Touko's voice, and my guess was right. Character that can't speak her feelings straightforwardly? Get Kugimiya Rie on board.
