Fall's coming up and the bill that will ban loli and ecchi and hentai of girls up to high school will make it's return to the Diet. So if it comes to the worst possible conclusion and the bill passes, will you quit watching these genres and move on to other genres of anime or stick around.

For me I'll just give up on the genre, I'll still have anime left to watch even if this passes and I don't want to watch ecchi, harem, and rom-com anime with a college setting as the females don't appeal to me most of the time.

hmm. I haven't seen many harems, but I did enjoy all of the loli anime I've enjoyed. I guess if they can still tell a good story I'd probably like them. Thats just me though.

I don't care at all. I don't see what is wrong with a college setting; in some cases it can virtually be the same thing as a high school setting.

It's the females more than the setting. I'm very picky on personality traits.

Given girls in high school can be legal, this law won't change anything aside even more series pretending obviously younger characters are 18.

They won't change it to college, they'll just change it to seniors.

I don't know what the fuck you're trying to say, which is pretty normal but usually I can figure it out. This time I can't.

The age of consent in Japan is 18 in most of the country and places that matter (such as Tokyo). This means they are no longer a minor at that point and are legal to be sexualized all you want, or even outright penetrated. If you want to keep pretending to be Japanese learn to write English like a Japanese person - also, learn "your" fucking (pun intended) laws.

As most people here don't live in Japan and don't have a huge completed-list, I don't think the average MAL user is going to be affected much.

They would have to be second semester 3rd years in highschool to be 18 I believe, I don't know the dates of when they start and stop school ...

I for one though am not complaining, don't really care for the genre either way. It sucks for those who love these genres if it passes, but I am kind of unaffected by it all.

Also, why is romcom included in the title? This wouldn't do anything to that.

Any good romcom doesn't have harem, ecchi, or straight up hentai as it is.

This is a bill in Japan that would ban these works...? This is the first I've heard of it, but I don't really keep up that well with news. Can someone explain?

A bill meant to ban pornographic depictions of children in the media (mostly images), and "children" means under-18, in this case. It's very obscurely-worded, so people are worried it will harm the manga/anime industry to a large extent, because you'll never know if the loli you just drew will land you in prison.

to be tried as an adult here you need to be 20 fir the most part i think fir the most part this new law will run like that you an adult in the eyes of the law is when the fictonal female can be sexualized [ i think thats what this new lae is aiming for]

i know the age of consent but i know for the most part the law in your tried as adult at 20 [ exacpt in extreme cases]

Sounds like SOPA to me.

You need very clearly defined parameters for censorship to be at all accepted. I'd be against this on grounds of not actually causing bodily harm to anyone anyway. Unless there's strong scientific evidence that is leads to child abuse. Which I doubt, considering the age of the typical anime styles can be hard to determine sometimes...at least for me.

Personally, I don't think I would be affected? I don't really have an interest. I think.

Like SlayerMaster said, this seems like the Japanese SOPA which focuses on loli instead. Didn't some Diet member get found for buying loli porn or something a couple of years ago? Willing to bet there are guys in the Diet currently that does the same, but a bit more discreetly.

Honestly at first I didn't like the law because I prefer mangaka to have freedom to create whatever they want. Then I thought about it more... This really wont effect me, if anything it just means less loli hentai when I google image anime related stuff. I could care less if this passes.

Hoppy, stay classy.

I'm not very informed about this. But from what I can tell, they can just call it a college/university instead of a school.

If that's the case, then theres no problem for me.

I don't like ecchi harems really, however I would be annoyed if they were banned.

I'm not sure who came up with the expression, but it goes along the lines of "Even if I don't like it and think the individuals who do are questionable, I will defend their freedom to do their fucked up shit because that is what freedom should be".

So basically, much as I would personally be perfectly happy to see trash ecchi harems removed, I disagree with it being banned.

Maybe their logic is that under aged girls bouncing around in a sexualized fashion poisons the minds of the youth. By fixing that they will have less youth unemployed . . . Don't hate me, just connecting the dots here.
