| I'd never call anyone cute unless I either found them attractive, or something that they do is cute. Therefore I'd say that it's generally a compliment, but of course some might use it as an excuse not to call someone hot. |

| A man usually want to be looked upon as a man and not something 'cute'. Sure it is a compliment, but I don't like being called 'cute' because of this reason. It could also be that 'cute' in Swedish compared to English is further away from the word 'attractive'. |

| It depends on tone. If she says it in a high-pitched voice, she either thinks your personality reflects an adorable puppy, or you have self-esteem issues which she needs to cater to. If she says it without looking into your eyes, or in a casual/dismissive tone, she finds you unattractive. If she says it seemingly earnestly while touching you and smiling (particularly without teeth), then you're attractive, but words like "hot" or "handsome" don't suit her. At least, that's what I've noticed with most people, and myself. |

| Personally I think it depends on the person mainly, both the speaker and the receiver. For me, I don't or I *rarely* find guys "hawt" but cute and handsome. Might be just me being weird but it's probably because I've never saw myself with a "hawt" person. Probably because of all the expectations. Plus most "hawt" guys I've known and met were rather narcissistic and egotistical lol. In my book, if you're cute its a good thing just as much as being "hawt" or handsome or sexy or whatever.
