| People usually use a picture of something they like that pertains to the message board they are on. On the japanese doll boards, i use japanese doll pics. does that mean i'm a japanese doll? This logic can be used for any board or site that uses an avatar. i simply cannot understand what is offensive or misleading by using a picture of a character you like on an anime board. I haven't heard a good argument for why it is misleading for a guy to use a pic of a female character. Does a something as simple as an avatar define who you are IRL? >>having a pissy day |

| What's the problem here? I'm a male with a female avatar. I don't see anything particularly wrong with that. People take forum avatars too seriously. Really I just use whatever's lying around on my harddrive that looks kinda cool. It's not that big of a deal, really. | It's funny because I can guess someone's gender depending on the type of male or female avatar they're using. The username tends to be a giveaway too. It doesn't always work but I'd say the accuracy is higher than usual. |
