Decent first episode, definitely will continue watching this. I have to get used to the art style a bit since I haven't really seen many of stuff based on Tezuka's work.

, yea it's a lil wierd, but I like it, different than I've seen before. Seems like this could be good, idk, I read that it consists of short stories, so we'll have to see...Urahara Out!!

Brilliant, nothing i wouldn't expect from the Japanese god father of anime Osamu Tezuka. Animation was spectacular, great setting for the story.

They covered alot in just one episode.

Goddamn, that was a depressing first episode. They started with a bang! Music is super good.

Already used to the style and art because I've read 3 of Tezuka's manga. It's kind of weird watching it animated. xD

I like it so far and I'm looking forward to more.

Interesting that this is set so far back, in the Yayoi period specifically, most anime don't go before the Heian era for some reason.

Anyway really great opening episode, hope the rest of the series is as good as this.

So... why exactly that guy who died at the beginning was even there, if even his own wife immediately forgot about him? ;p

Other than that, pretty good episode, I'm starting to think this series will be better than I thought. And of course the opening is great.

This is one of the least "anime" looking anime I've watched. Reminds me more of western cartoons, especially Asterix. It also has an old timey feel to it with its kind of 50/60's movies style of directing and over the top "acting".

That girl didn't waste much time flirting with the new guy, and we didn't even see her react to, let alone mourn her husband's death, so it was pretty weird when she "fell in love" with the new guy and even married him (within what, days of her husband's death?). Either way, looks like an interesting and pretty unique show.

Wow that was quite tragic and dramatic, but I like it, and the animation is looking good as well

Incredible start, I'm so glad I stumbled upon this series. The art style is peculiar but I liked it

Well, the pacing from what I see is pretty fast, in one episode we saw a foreign man that was used as a bait for some other tribe to get the phoenix, as well as how we see him develop a relationship with her with marriage and all. All of this in one episode, which while it is good for telling the story in a short time it makes it harder to develop a bond with the characters so the tragedy to the fire people wasn't as emotional as they could probably have intended.

Animation for 2004 was awesome, and I liked the retro CGI opening which looks exquisite.

Wait a minute. She didn't even mourn her husband's death, and minutes later, we see her basically trying to move on already to another man? Pretending she can't swim? Dafuq? I know the man saved her life but still.

Of course the guy is bad news. Should've seen that coming. She hates him now, so hopefully that is it for them.
