| Was reading TvTropes on this, so I figured why not find out how many are what here? As for me, I was originally one of those cynical angsty teens who "found out about the world," suddenly thought everyone was heartless and didn't know what being human was. After exploring the world for a bit, it turns out most humans aren't exactly one dimensional like that, so I became a bit optimistic/idealistic. After a few years of college, it turns out there actually are one dimensional people (dicks, shallow, ignorant, blah blah), so I regressed a bit back into being cynicism. I still have a lingering hope that people are inherently good, but experience hasn't been quite nice like that. So, what state of mind do you think you lean to? Do your actions reflect that? How did you become that way? Oh, and I added Apathy as a choice since I've met my share of people who couldn't give a shit for ANYTHING. |

Well I'm not up to date with the stuff going down in America(I don't live there so there's no reason for me to actually care) I am aware of some of the good stuff going around in the world, I'm not up to date with news or anything of the kind, I don't care myself, but I highly admire people who are able to foresee a better future for humanity, I'm just not able to hope anymore. |
| I am apathetic for the most part, more leaning towards being cynic though... I have had my fill of shallow people, and like others have said, the world itself also turns out to be not so kind. Friends and enemies come and go, and being idealically taoist, i learned not to care either way. No one will hurt my feelings if they decide not to like me, i wont care if they dont want to be my friend either. I dont have very much expectations for people, although i am still open minded and try to do what they dont. |

| Hmm hard choice between being cynical and apathy. I guess I will go cynical, because I do care about the world around me and to a lesser extent my part in it. But im definetly cynical only have to look at the number of shit wrong in the world, and frankly I dont think the good balances it out either, as the good stuff doesnt seem to be shared with the majority. Where definetly living in at least a dark shade of gray world. While theres still millions of people dieing from lack of basic needs I will always be cynical about the world we live in. And thats only one part of it, i could go on. |

| I voted for apathy, but that isn't really true. It's more that I just don't see the good vs evil dichotomy anymore. I can't find any reason why I should necessarily attribute selfish to being evil, or altruistic to being good. It's more likely that most people have a whole range of motivations that show themselves depending on how you turn the kaleidoscope. |

But at the same time, there are quite a lot of things in this world that is absolutely hard to stay positive about. Still, I wouldn't exactly call myself either a full-blown cynic or idealist. I have a little bit of both, I'd say. But I voted cynic anyway. :P |
