Music and visuals were nice, but I don't have high hopes for the actual content. Also, was it only I who found the blonde captain to be a blatant copy of Aria's Alicia in both looks and personality? It bugged me a bit.

God, I love how easily troll bait is taken on these boards (Even when it's not intentional/isn't even a troll in the first place). Keep it up!

I haven't watched the series myself, but I think I'll pass until the show ends its run to see whether I'll go ahead and watch it. If this mess pulls a NaruTaru or something I'll pick it up immediately.

So I tried to watch it again after dropping it at the 10 min mark.

I got to 11 minutes and dropped :D

I half-lol'd (Is that even possible?), but you're trying too hard to make these folks upset, Lemon Limey.

Sometimes people just disagree with something they find to be wrong on record for posterity.

I think the concept of "A Will To Power" applies here. Even if people feel it might be just something said to offend them, they want records to have shown they played their part promoting something they liked. Or maybe a will to power just applies to someone like me and I am far too interested in the idea of leaving marks on the interwebs.

I never have related to people who disagree with this sort of idea in relation to the internet because it "doesn't matter" and isn't "serious business", I especially can't take that sort of opinion seriously when said people find it creepy and refuse to post their personal information on the internet.

Of course people can't do something like grab all the power because there are mods and there are posters with varying views. But it's natural for a person to want to exercise a certain degree of influence. And gain as much spread of their views as they can. Just one of many thousands of millions of things that this causes is people voting in popularity contests for their favorite character.

And sometimes it manifests itself in the form of responding to an internet troll. As much as "internet serious business", it is a record that is google searchable which is a platform that is slowly replacing cable and satellite television.

When you put it like that, I guess I can't do anything but agree for the most part (That, and I'm too tired).

However, at the same time, the situation that this thread and many others on this website have experienced is pretty much pointless. It's understandable when a few people disagree with one or two people in the first place, since it's nearly impossible to cooperatively decide who gets to express their disapproval in the first place, but is there really a need to leave a mark on something that has already been addressed far more than enough? It practically is telling the poster who is under fire, troll or not, "Hey, why don't you respond to our protests of anger?" I just don't think it's necessary to pour water where a fire once burned (Bad analogy? Meh, I'm too tired to give it a re-evaluation or two).

Soranowoto doesn't look like the type of anime I myself would enjoy, but there is no denying that the show is well done visually and musically. I thought Avatar had a sub-par plot, but I can at least give props for what the budget yielded.

lol, yeah, su~re, it's nothing like K-ON...
How can you people deny it, I can't even =_=
It's something like Naruto and Nabari no Ou, geez. Of course it's not the same but the concept /or w/e / is the same. 5 girls, instruments, art, the main klutz who can't play...

And who said I mind it =_= I'm a K-ON fan and that's why I started it, if it turns out to be K-ON a-like but with a serious plot, I think this will be my heaven, then.

I think it's because you're loving Soranowoto so far but you hated K-ON, and you can't accept that something K-ON a-like will grab you so much xD

I liked K-On!. I don't think K-On! and Sora no Woto are similar enough yet. Why? Because the similarities are so damn superifical. Five girls, music, and art style - while more interesting things, like mood and plot, have little similarity to K-On!. As of yet. It could fall either way.

i thought the first episode was fantastic honestly. fairly light hearted, with some dark undertones. and the mix of cultures (i speak french, so that was fun) was very nice. sure, cute girls and musical instruments have been done, but K-ON was a straight-up comedy. this is not.

this thread is one of many reasons why i stay out of most internet discussions of things. i look forward to watching this series, but all of you arguing back and forth about moeblob characters and crap like that isn't much of a discussion.

and don't go thinking i'm trolling or anything, because i'm not. that kind o "discussion" just annoys me

Uh-huh. Right...
Whatever. It is similar even if the story goes in a dramatic direction. Surely a 100% clone would not have been as successfull as the producers would want it to be, so they changed the mood and the environment.

^ Because from the looks of it - yeah, it's an original story.

But if you really think so then... fine. I and lot of other people will think my way and you guys and other people will think your way.

While it doesn't yet really have more plot than K-On.
I must agree that the mood is quite despite the fact this is so far no less Slice of Life seeming than K-On.

Moody War theme with a few slice of life elements, even if this stays slice of life, is quite different from a bunch of happy school girls who want to make a successful band.

I thought the first episode was exceedingly cute.
I was sort of hoping the series might follow the legend more closely.
But something tells me it's just going to be gags, learning to play an instument - ect.
Sort of K-On w/ alternating circumstances.

Not that I don't like K-On. It's the reason I started watching the anime.
I like the sort of moe-blob artwork it has.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the insert music. Especially the one playing during the explanation of the festival - I think it was Italian - maybe French. Either way - I'm willing to give this anime a shot.

& I'll just silently hope that it's more than just a hilarious misadventures bit.

I am really positively surprised by how this anime turned out to be. I postponed giving this a try until yesterday because I expected it to be some run-out-of-the-miill moe anime, but it actually has an interesting setting wrapped in intriguing mystery, and each of the girls appears to have some kind of psychological burden despite their cutesy appearance, which leads to powerful contrasts and greater level of suspense. Everything, from the cute characters and beautiful scenery to the dreamlike world full of mystery reminds me of Haibane Renmei.

And there are so many plotlines created, it is really intriguing. With the appearance of that giant corpse at the bottom of the lake, it seems the myth about Maidens of Fire seems to be literal to some extent. I was expecting some kind of nuclear warfare-allegory when I first heard it. And if humanity was nearly wiped out by some winged demon, then what are they at war against now? Each other for scarce resources? Monster from outer space? I hope it won't go too far-fetched. It would even be a great idea to keep the enemy hidden for good.

And Kilmt allusions are just, well, pretentious. I don't see any connections to anything.

Beautiful. Now I really hope for this to turn into a tragic story, I mean it's about a war, there should be a tragedy in there, I want to shed tears while I'm watching this. Cute girls, a war, friendship, loss, death, this is how this anime should be. I hope that I won't be disappointed.

This one surprised me!! Really good anime! Great background/character design, and the spanish atmosphere is just terrific!

And I can´t understand why so many people are trying to reduce So.Ra.No.Wo.To to a copy of K-ON!.... The only similarity is this girls playing musical instruments. In overall, it´s a pretty different show, maybe a better one!

Considering the age of the characters and the location, makes sense. In today's military bands (and corps), you need at least a bachelor in music performance or education.

anyway the story line is completly different so cant compare now/

Why is it always like this, now? I'd really hoped that this would feel fresh, different, subtle (comparisons to Haibane Renmei got my hopes up), but it feels like predictable ultra moeblob shit I've seen a hundred times — just not interesting. Don't people ever tire of watching the same thing (dressed up slightly differently) over and over?

It's weirdly multicultural, which... is kind of nice, I suppose. Unfortunately marred by the typical boring moe (and typical boring tsundere), totally unsubtle in its eager pandering to ronery otaku expectations. Yawn...

I guess this is probably subtle compared to some things, but that's not saying much.

In summary: pretty, but empty. Shallow. Just going by one episode, that is. I dunno how this is gonna turn out just yet, obviously, but that was a rather inauspicious beginning. I couldn't be more bored with obvious moeblob clichés.

Also, why does everything pointlessly steal from Klimt now?

The only thing I want is a plot. And a plot that stays. Not like K'-ON which was about girls wanting to perform on Japans biggest stage, but in the end, it was about teenage girls doing moe and tsundere things. Then suddenly they could play and had a song.

I just hope there is one, I dont even expect a good one, but at least one they follow.

I wasn’t expecting a lot from the first episode, but I admit I’m quite impressed.

The animation and art is good, the character design, although too similar to K-ON!’s for my personal like, it’s still fitting and the backdrop art is simply amazing. The sound in general is nice, the ED is the most generic of all the songs right now, repetitive and sugar-coated but it’s not horrible, at least.

The atmosphere is different, and while the characters seem like merely stereotypes, depth can be added as the series progresses. Moe and fan service don’t appear to be such important factor like in other anime. It established a background story for the town and its legend.

I see potential, if it doesn’t fall into the moeblob category, it can become a very good series. So far, I like it.
I think, then procrastinate.
Therefore, I am.

5/5. Good start. Love the soundtrack!

People should understand that main girl doesn't play a trumpet, it's a bugle. Bugles don't have valves. The girl treats her bugle badly. LOL She drops it in the water and lays it on the ground all the time.
The first note she identified wasn't Gb, it was B or Bb. The other ones were correct though.

I like the premise so far. It feels like it can be a really terrific and epic series. Unless it goes into moe. T_T Hopefully, it won't.

Kinda feels like FMA/Gosick. Like, the international feel.

So I picked this series because I wanted something light and it had trumpets (and bugles).

OH MY GOD I loved it so much! I am completely unable to be objective, because I played trumpet for a long time, so when the trumpet solo came on I knew that I would love this more than it maybe deserved. Who even cares that the fingers didn't move right! So pretty...

Also, the bugle playing made me flashback to when I first started playing. It really does sound like that!
