personally I prefer the shameless Ryoko. Not really sure why they needed to combine the two (other than cutting down the size of his harem). I'm pretty sure that Washu could have repaired Zero or shifted her mind into a new body without too much trouble.

Yea, I kind of agree, I hope she isn't permanently like that. But, it is nice to see her so open about her feelings, I'm looking forward to seeing how it progresses things...

Great episode! Only one ep left. I can't decide if I want to stick to release order or skip right to the 3rd Ryo-Ohki series.

First Sasami, then Ryo-Ohki, and now Ryouko has merged with something. It was interesting to see how Zero was willing to go so far for Tenchi.

And that's a wrap. EP 5.

Pros:

Battle: Once more Kajishima decided to do things differently. The battle this time fits with the overall villain since Clay is not that huge of threat on his own. It's also a bit of an intellectual battle and thus more suited with Washu. She also proves her troll chops here and it was hilarious.

Resolution: The Ryoko/Zero merger was a bit odd but I can kinda see it and accept it. Ryoko being in more tune with her emotions and feelings sounds like good chara. development and when you consider Ryoko's backstory it makes sense that she would have some hang-ups somewhere.

5/5. It made me laugh and ends on a sweet note.

Btw: pay close attention to the clay vs washu part. special little egg there.

I go where I wanna go, even if its into Oppai.

oh Ryoko, you went from the galaxy's most fierce space pirate to the butt monkey of the universe in less than 13 episodes.

I'm glad to see I'm not alone in disliking the Zero Ryoko arc. I like Ryoko because she's a spitfire, not in spite of it. It feels too much pandering to the otaku sensibility, softening Ryoko to be more docile and doki-doki. I can appreciate somewhat better than when I was a novice anime watcher the Japanese theme of "honesty" with your feelings, but to me, that the normal Ryoko was controlling such a passion that made a robot fall in love is a more impressive aspect of character.

Lady Tokimi must be quite powerful if she made a robot feel fear lol

So basically Ryoko got copied and the robot had such bare emotions for Tenchi that they recombined this new Ryoko copy with the original Ryoko. Odd.

So now Ryoko is less rough around the edges and more open with Tenchi. I mean what really changed?

1. She always loved Tenchi
2. Now she's not scared of her crush in the same breath
3. Now she's touchy feely.

And to boot she's nicer now. It honestly seems like the years of pirating left her a little unbalanced. True, no one wants to see a person's original character morphed into something else, it's a bit rapey tbh. But Ryoko is now even more Ryoko than before, a little more psychologically balanced.

What doesn't Ryoko have now compared to before? She has better stakes to getting Tenchi, she doesn't get as blamed as before, she's more docile and less prone to explosive violence. The original Ryoko is always there for battles, but the home life suits her as well.

Who could kill such a copy that had such nice, raw emotions? Ryoko being honest to herself about what she really wants can't be all bad.

I can't say that I approve. They basically forcibly changed Ryoko's personality, which is incredibly screwed up if you think about it. How would you like if someone did that to you? This anime just played off some fucked up shit as a comedic gag!
