| No dialogue worked to condense everything into one chapter so I won't complain. Besides "a solitary journey"..gildarts a man who is most of the time all on his own fits in such a chapter. So THAT was Hiro's "experimenting". Weeeell, time to get back on track though. I think that mangareader screwed up with the trans again and must mean: The graveyard of dragons and not the place where the souls of the dragons rest. So I take it we return with Gazeel in the centre of attention. |

| 2 thoughts crossed my mind. First that when you think it can't get worse after the filler fanservice chap and second how it must have been jealous of Naruto and its silent chapter. Cute chapter and all but damn filler. Totally unneeded and especially in the middle of maybe one of the best arcs in FT. It's manga! It doesn't need fillers like that and especially not 2 in a row >_> |

If it wasn't for these kind of chapters people would complain how the manga lacks character development. I see no wrong in taking a break from the continuous battles and showing a little bit of FT's "life". 1-Obviously Hiro did that to make the 300 special. 2-Considering the imminent calamity that has been forshadowed I think that some chapter intended for emotional-attachment are good to have. | Gildarts is the man so this chapter was fine to me. Definetely more legit than the pool fanservice comedy filler chapter, which was funny but could easily be postponed at the end of the tournament. I'd like too for this arc to progress a bit, expecially with all that "OMG THE END OF THE WORLD!!!" that was prophesied in the previous chapters. I think that maybe Mashima just wanted to start the big bang from chapter 300 (since it sounds cool) and left an hole of two chapters that didn't know how to use if not in this way. |

| That was great! I really like Gildarts too,so it helps. Now on to chapter 300 "The place where the souls of the dragons rest" or something like that.Looks like we're back with the main story,and we'll probably clear up something about Gajeel on that graveyard. |

| Extended no-dialogue sequences where the story is told only through the art are hardly new. Frank Miller was doing it 30 years ago in Daredevil, and he was inspired by manga before him like Lone Wolf & Cub. |

We already knew how the guild behaves (and it's the same every single time so where's the originality and development?) and how Gildarts adores Kana. Sure, I accept that he did it for the 300th special chapter but these were fillers, yes. Other manga have such anniversaries but they time it better so they won't need such irrelevant chapters. Which was my point. And yes, I expect a plot in a manga except if they are extra chapters and these weren't. They were put in the middle of something big. I just don't like that. |

| I don't think these side stories should be faced either as fillers or irrelevant story. A good story is made of action moments and some quiet ones too, this was sure made for the 300th chapter, but it's also a good breaking point so everyone can rest from all the battles that have been going on(even though they have been awesome). One of the reasons that makes Fairy Tail one of my favorite mangas is that the story is not only based on battles, there is some nice background to it. Also, there was nice character interaction in last weeks chapter, as for this one i was happy to see how Gildarts was doing and how he is together with the rest of the guild in his own way. So for me this was a chapter to be appreciated. |
| People just don't understand what filler is supposed to mean.They think battle shounen are supposed to have battles on every single chapters,or else it's called dragging or even a filler like now.Battles are important,but we just got a bunch of fights on this arc,now we need a brake to develop characters and rest a bit. Normally we only get these kind of brakes right between arcs.And we do seem to be between arcs now too,but since the new arc will probably come right away,there won't be much time for these things.Even so,Mashima gave us these nice brake stories here,so nobody will miss it.There's nothing much different from how FT always worked here,so there's no need to complain. |

No one actually complains about the side stories being bad thing, in fact I actually like them, but the timing can't be worse. This is not some "nice brake stories", it's just Mashima stalling for chapter 300 to make that "awesome revelation" or something. |
