I know that sometimes moe definately means an adorable-sexy combo, but is that what all moe is. There are loads of times i wish i could jump into the screne, put my arms around a cartoon character, and sweetly say "everythings going to be alright." With no funy business in mind. Is this also moe, or is it not a sexified enough of a feeling?

Yeah Moe actually has no sexual connotation to it at all, moe just means cute, usually its the case that when they use moe they are describing a cute innocent girl that you go ahhhh over but has almost no sexuality at all. A good example of a Moe anime I watched recently would be Acchi Kocchi, the characters are basically moe however I believe their is almost no sexual references in the entire anime.

No moe is actually a "cute"/"adorable" anime...
You are thinking more of "ecchi"... that's where the "sexified" things appear.

Most anime's will mix ecchi and moe, and then someone will upload it on the internet and hide the "ecchi" title to it and only lable "moe" because it wasn't "ecchi" enough for them.

Yeah, that explains why moe is usually marketed towards otaku with pedophilic tendencies.

Most things that are moe are aimed towards young girls. The late night anime and otaku are just red flags used to further political agendas.

that sums it up pretty well, also moe is marketed to otaku but as something very innocent and cute, something that could not possibly exist in the 3D world, the moe genre is more idolized than a genre for 12 year olds to fap to like ecchi anime. However having said that, both Moe and Ecchi anime will almost always fall short in terms of quality due to a lack of plot and very predictable characters with very predictable personalities.

True, but moe is designed to be more of a "cute" kind of anime.. or cute styled in the way the characters look. It really is a very broad label. Some moe haven't been predictable, and some Ecchi anime haven't been predictable.. I mean if the anime is centered around Ecchi/Moe style then yes.. but if it's ecchi on the side.. it's fine.

I thought the technical definition of moe had some complex answer. Something along the line as "something thats desirable/pleasing to the eye for no apparent reason other then being desirable." I remember reading an article or something about that, but I don't remember the details.

I don't think that moe = always sexual.

I find that at most, moe characters are people you'd want to cuddle with. Although we can't deny that there are people out there who have explicit thoughts of moes.

Aaaand that's totally wrong. Characters like Shiki in Garden Of Sinners have moe moments. And she is an adult. Many adult characters can be moe and sexy at the same time. Take everybodys favorite headless chick in anime, Celty Sturmstrong. Sexy , moe and headles.

"Moe" just means a certain unexplainable quality that makes you attracted to a particular character.

However "Moeshit" means series that are made specifically to pander otaku, pedo etc.

As a child, I was told that society is a melting pot of talents; knowledge and experience combined to form important alloys that will contribute to mankind. When I got to highschool, however, I thought that it's more like a river in which the water represents our peers while we ourselves are the stones in the river. Constant erosion by mindless majority sheeping has made us lose our unique edge. After I hit the age of 18, I realized that I've been wrong all along. Society is no melting pot. Society is no river. Society is a person, a very skilled rapist, and he has fucked us all.

Your two sentences contradict eachother. How can you produce an anime specifically around something that you can't even explain and is different for everyone?

It is unexplainable in the sense that it's different for everyone. (I should have worded that more clearly)
However we do have a good idea of what otaku and lolicons like through market analysis: cute little girls doing cute stuff.

Moe, in my opinion of the word, is one of the many forms of escapism in anime. It can be played out in a sexual way, but there are exceptions.

I think 'moe' is more about seeing something simple and pure, and having that recognition spark some warm feelings. This innocence and simplicity is an escape from hectic life.

Nah not really. I can see alot of characters that radiate moe but it never really felt like it was a sexual thing. e.g Azusa from K-ON, she is hopelessly moe but it's never in an ecchi sense really.

I'd say no. Some characters are moe and attractive, some are just moe, and some are just attractive. It depends on who's judging.

It still doesn't go against point #1 because "moe" is a blanket term. You may think it's just cute girls but it makes the target audience scream moe.

No... that's just wrong. Why do people think that once there's a sexual scene the people who watch it are perverts.

Why do people think that just because the anime has strong sexual scenes.. people assume you're a pervert.

Like grow up.. I've seen plenty of anime's that have a lot of sexual scenes and they've actually been some amazing anime's.

Moe =/= sexual. Ecchi = sexual. Moe = cute style of anime.

Ok so i will go ahead and call myself a moe fan because i am attracted to the cuteness in a nonsexual way :). Lolicons is definatly a sex thing though right? I love the cute kids in anime but because they don't turn me on i would not call myself a lolicon right?

That's right. A lolicon gets all hot and bothered if they see a little girl on screen/see a cute young girl. You can like the way they act or look but if you don't get sexually attracted to them then you're not a lolicon.

But no moe isn't sexual. If you get attached to a certain character then you find them moe. Now it mostly just means a really cute character that makes you happy when watching them.

Huh? For me moe means nice and friendly moments, or even slightly bittersweet ones. It is when you learn something new about characters that makes you care for them more in a positive light. But that's just me. For some it is enough that a character is wearing cat ears and acts all stupid for no reason.
