THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
This episode was cute. It basically shows Henrietta and Rico on vacation.

Henrietta and Rico both looked cute in this episode, especially with Henrietta's new clothes
(well not new new, since they were worn by his sister but still).

The part with the ghost talking to him was weird, but then i understood it.

This episode shows, even loli assassin's need the day off.
(No action or gunshots in this episode at all.)

Great episode with nice developments, and an incredibly melancholic and poetic atmosphere as usual in this second season of GG. Oh, and Jean is such a fantastic character... 9/10

He did? .....hmm. I didn't notice.

Ah well, it's not like it's something MAJORLY wrong, since by know you should know who's what character anyway.

Yea, didn't bother me, just a small giggle deep down every time I saw it. Better than "giouse" (or however they spelled it) from S1 by KickAssAnime but even that wasn't enough for me to lose a nut over.

...On the subject of fansubs, gotta love these.

It may not have been totally his fault.
Since he translated it from Russian Subs, the Russian Subbers might have mixed the names up, and he never caught it, which translating a 40 min OVA by yourself, you would think be tiring and might expect an error or 2.

I never saw the KAA subs for Season 1 i don't think.
Then again i forgot what subbers were with the episodes i watched.

It's on my External HD and it's not hooked up atm.

Though, kind of boring, still a good episode. Just Henrietta being in the ep so much was enough for me. It's good to see that side of Jean, it makes you understand his actions in the first series. He always came off as very unsensitive, and harsh to the girls. But, it makes more sense now, he was doing the opposite of what Josei does, he wouldn't show them any compasion, so not to offend his little sister. I hope they eventually make a third series. I'll be sad with no more new GG!!! Urahara Out!!

Honestly it would have been better without the OVAs, I really don't think these 2 eps really added anything significant to the story. Disappointing. It was better than the first OVA though...

Yep, I agree.

From what I've heard/read, they easily would have enough material for a 3rd Season.

So it is end of manga, or maybe that was only part of her? I hope that may be still more after this OVA. It would be good reason to start read manga yet today :D

Pretty meh episode in general, the pacing also got a lot worse and well I don't see why they added this but it wasn't really that interesting. Oh well I'm glad I finally finished this franchise!

An average OVA. Personally I felt like the show missed a chance to further explore the ironically physical frailty of cyborg bodies. The taxing effect of conditioning on the body and the short life span of being cyborg. Mind and Body. They spent a healthy amount on the mind, how about the body? So far, we only know the effect of healing injuries incurred during work steeply worsen for cyborgs in comparison to human bodies and more drugs are then required which in effect decrease their operational effectiveness...

No cyborg dies in action or due to the stress of robotisation (a character we are introduced to and then the process of death), not that I am bloodlusting over it, it would've been a nice touch if they could cover that maturely. Seems like the purple elephant in the room. Season 1 would've been a great place to insert that over the time spent over toys...

I also think the ghost scene was not necessary... and a complete out of left field for an otherwise grounded 'hard sci fi' series. We know Jean, especially from season 2 is a damaged individual. It is also interesting learning how he got to that stage, and his original personality is, to be quite frank, sticks out as quite sociopathic in comparison to his brother. That makes him quite an interesting character in the gunslinger franchise, even more so, when compared to how much deviation and his method of coping being quite different to his brother. But he is what I would consider a high functioning one, or exhibits borderline traits. That's not always a bad thing, especially in his line of work, it is favourable and he is hence rewarded with his position in the agency... He makes the hard decisions that no-one wants to make, they get to go home, and keep whats left of their morality and pretensions intact. Jean is the enforcer that no-one wants but needs. Another thing that makes Jean so different.

Again, I think, Jean's characterisation should not have been placed in the backburner aka the OVA, just like the case with Herscher, they should've inserted it into either season 1 or season 2. OVA should've been a self-contained arc that wrapped things up for the franchise.

The death of Enrica really left a long-lasting impact of her brothers huh. At least Jose got a 'replacement' that is Henrietta, while Jean can't seem to be able to alleviate his feeling of guilt and emptiness.

This episode briefly shows some connection with S2 which is good, but then... How about all the thing that happened in the previous ep of this OVA? So everything just goes?

Honestly, if this 2 eps OVA fully delves into what Jean and Jose go through when dealing with a memory of their sister and how they would handle it, the OVA would've been much better. Introducing Jean's dead fiancee in the last ep without further explanation just make it seem like she's nobody. More scenes of Enria spending her time with her brothers (when she does) would've also been more impactful so that the audience like me would care more about her and think that the ghost that Jean saw is a legit illusion and not just some illusion of when a person gets high.

I wonder what happened with their little sister

That's kinda sad, but I like DIO Jean's statement
He's right, it might seems they're forgetting about her, but that's not it
If you can't move on it's just not right, it'll ruin everything in your life

Kinda sad this anime don't have any continuation left
Oh well that's just how anime industry works, only popular anime like Harem and Isekai are getting continuations

These 2 OVA episodes were alright, in fact I was probably more interested in them than most of the entire franchise before this. I think this is maybe because the Jean and Rico dynamic is the best in the show, with Hilshire and Triela a close second.

Actually I believe I may have cracked something in trying to figure out why I struggled through this series. Perhaps it's because Guise and Henrietta are by far the most boring aspect of the show and yet they get more screen time and development than anyone else. I mean they are kinda plain, not alot really happens between them. All the interesting stuff happens between everyone else, in all the other fratello's.

Have to say the Gunslinger Girl franchise disappointed me. I ultimately found it's premise of Cyborg Girls abit silly and the Italian Politics plain boring. I hoped for more given the popularity of the series. Though maybe after all the years it's just not as special as it once was.

I'm very happy I get to move onto something else and I think I can safely say I won't be returning to Gunslinger Girl. Not awful by any means but just never clicked with me, never really engaged me and in my experience it was a slog to get through at times.

Last one. It feels like it's been forever. This series has definitely hindered my would be steady ascent to 900 watched.

Overall, I'd say these OVAs are better than the second season, but they were still just sorta like one-shots. So I feel like I still wasn't as interested in these as I was with season one.

And, I guess some of it was interesting, but, also, at this point, I'm just kind of glad it's over. It was a little hard to be completely invested the whole episode.

While nothing significant happened, still peaceful episode with Henrietta and Rico enjoying a nice vacation. Although I would like to have known what happened to the little sister Enrica.

A pretty laid back episode, full of reminisces of the Sister.
