THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
I just finished the livestream and I must say...wow, just wow.
The pacing is as fast as expected, but David Production did a really great job here. The voices, the music, the poses, everything felt just so Jojo.

Also:
DIIIIIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Man, this line...fucking perfect.
And now excuse me, I need to prepare for a rewatch while listening to glorious Yes!

That was great, and I love the sound effects showing.
They should slow down for the next episode, at least I hope so.

Well, although it is 2-cour they still have to cover Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency. I expect them to cut some of the minor stuff, but as long as they deliver the important scenes in such a high quality I am ok with it. They will probably slow down a bit for Battle Tendency, though.

Ok, I just watched a raw. Very nice episode, if they're gonna adapt like this we'll see Battle Tendency for sure. I really like how they show the inner thoughts of the characters, and Takehito Koyasu as Dio(s) is DA MAN.

I'm gonna watch it again with subs, and wait quietly (or not) for episode two!

It was fantastic. The manga is also fast paced so it was perfectly matched I think. Koyasu Takehito as Dio is fabulous and that ending is just freaking epic. It worthed the wait :D

Finally watched the raw! This was probably by far the most beautiful anime I have ever laid eyes upon. I think David Production did a really good job adapting the material! Though the best part of the ep was most definitely all the "DIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" parts, haha.

At the rate things are going, I'm gonna start striking Jojo poses everywhere due to how much excitement this show induces in me. >_>;

Hmm. A good directing and storytelling, versus dreadful production. Certainly not what Jojo deserves, but we'll see if the studio whats-their-name-again could make anything decent out of this.

PS: Who spilled a can of purple all over the cells? It makes Jojo appear twice as gay as it actually is!

The sub time delay is by like 1.2 or so seconds or whatever.

Some of it feels pretty retro and the setting but I kind of like the visual and style the anime has going on. The way stuff pops out with random symbols when characters are introduced or something, or how water droplets will sort of sparkle, or how other stuff happens when characters receive powerful stunning blows and impacts or just how the backgrounds will change and then characters are bathed] in different colors to fit the mood.

Anyway Dio is really amazing and blows JoJo out of the water. I hope he gets significant screentime. Probably my leading reason to just keep watching. I kind of feel bad though considering he just treats JoJo so bad, out to steal his inheritance or whatever, ruining his image in front of everyone, being better at just about everything than JoJo, and then even stealing the kiss from the girl, hitting her, and then getting into a fight with him and burning trapping his dog in the trash pile. Poor JoJo. Though I didnt think it made sense for Dio to lose, he was still more powerful so theres no excuse for JoJo to have one, then again I guess if he just felt empowered because of all his losses and the girl, then acceptable. Will keep watching and glad I gave it a shot.

Just getting on the JoJo train and loved the first episode, and specially the ending theme they used. It's nice to see classic shonen series get remakes like this and hunterXhunter, looking forward to more.

Damn, Dio makes such a great antagonist. Loved the entire episode. This is probably the first show in a long time where I'm actually disappointed that there aren't more episodes to watch. Has the potential to be one of the best this year if it keeps up.

it has alot of humor to it if you look really deep into the really bizarred things about it like the poses and youll see many more things if they keep animating it but other than that its a pure battle anime with alot of blood as you can see too bad they will censure alot of gore scenes but theres enough satisfaction as it is
just saw the episode it was amazing and follow the manga 99% accurate and gave all of the important details next episode speedwagon introduced!

That was a really good start.

Fast paced so we can watch the awesome scenes soon, Araki's sound effects and Koyasu Takehito as Dio doing a great work. Nice job, David Production!

The only bad thing about this episode was Danny's death. It wasn't shocking like it was in the manga, but that's okay since Dio's just starting~

Anyway, I can't wait for the next episode. It's gonna be amazing.

Well, whatever. Generally you don't see what everyone is hyped about just by watching one episode. And if the art style or the over the top style doesn't appeal to you then it never will.

If I were to describe why I'm hyped for it, it's because the manga knows how to have fun and experiment. It oozes creativity and always tries to one-up itself in craziness and energy.

It's violent, the battles witty and fun to follow, and has crazy and memorable characters. The series is just so kinetic.

Well, I literally know nothing about the series. I do own the video game for Sega Dreamcast, but its just a fighting game. I did like it, but it seemed to me that the pacing was crazy fast. Maybe that is how its suppose to be, I dunno. It was like a normal show just finished three or four lines of "candy." In fact, the characters in general seemed fired up and blazed through their scenes.

So, is the plan for this to become a long running series? I hope so. It would be nice to keep up with a long running anime from the beginning. I've never had the pleasure.

And this deserves more than a 7. I'm not yet used to the manga-like pacing, but the story was really solid. I can't believe I missed this gem during my childhood.

Shame that they'll be rushing through the first arc. After all, this is THE origin of Jojo series. It deserves more attention than just "let's get it over with"

Solid 1st episode nonetheless, 7.5/10

I'm ok with them speeding up the childhood part, as long as they pace it nicely for after the timeskip.

Also, next episode: Speedwagon time!

Wow......just wow.......my manly levels rise up just by watching this. The DIOOOOOOOO!!!!! part was so awesome (notice that jonathan's rage allowed him to jump the water fountain like nothing? that's pretty impressive and he handled the rest like a boss). This series looks great, the effects look great and even when this voice actors with some of the manliest voices cry they still sound manly. Sure, it went a little fast but it was necessary for the sake to keep things smoothly going and i was shocked hearing Roundabout by Yes as the ending song. I hope this shows there won't be need for any name changes for all the western music references this series has. I really can't wait for more.

Wow, all I have to say is...Dio's a dick. which for me its good I dislike a villan so intensly and want Jojo to win, even if before his dick streak I was begining to like Dio more than Jojo, but now, I just want Jojo to man up some.

No bullshit, straight to the point, man up and fight now or forever be Dio's bitch, love it. I'll be reading the corresponding manga chapters as I go along here so I can't wait to see what'll come next, considering the free game I got off of PSN some crazy ass shit. Which I heard about but still.

If they already cut out Danny burning I kinda don't want to know what they'll do later when things get brutal...even Speedwagon would be afraid of them messing this up.

Apart from that it was decent. Strange coloring definitely fits the JoJo style imo. Characters could be a bit bulkier.

Kinda rushed though, this episode covered two third of the first volume. At this rate they'll be done with part one by episode ten or so xD But I think they'll take in a bit slower in the future, probably just wanted to get over with the childhood part.

Hard to say. I mean, when it comes to animal cruelty, everyone tends to get iffy, but the later parts should be fine.

At least I hope it'll be fine.
