No not at all, all I care about is if the topic is of interest to me and something I can contribute to decently to it. Keyword being decently. ๐Ÿ˜ต

I understand the question but that seems way too petty for me. Can't be bothered to get offended or anything by random MAL users

Whether they admit it or not, I think this isn't a niche behavior.

In the past some thread makers don't really open a topic for discussion

They want to talk. A lot. lmao

so there's gonna be a lot of pinging

Well given that some threads are walls upon walls of text that convey what could be said in less than two sentences, and some are literal yes/no questions, with some "dO yOu EjAcUlAtE iN mY wAiFu'S puSsY oR aYuSsHoUlL??????" and "DramaDramaDramaDrama", plus some ragebaiting, most people are going to block out at least some of these, even without realizing it, as some thread makers EXCLUSIVELY make threads like these.

I definitely do the same with a good few of the examples I mentioned, though yes, I do have a couple names I steer clear from. Naming names is something I don't want to do, but it's not hard to infer some of them.

I'm proud to have boundaries, standards, consistency, and don't need or want replies from spammers.

Don't inflate your own importance in threads you didn't create. Don't get hit by the door on your way out either.

It's more like I avoid threads with topics that are both too philosophical and/or too depressing.

And also the NBA basketball-related thread because basketball sucks and netball rules.

It is not the thread maker that matters, it is just that certain threads are annoying/not worth replying to.

Yup. Exactly something like that. It make me uncomfortable to see people explaining what they think.

Most of the notorious gooners, I avoid because they're incredibly boring and insipid people. Only reason I respond is because the mods refuse to do anything about the worst cases, and if they don't want vigilantism posts insulting the OP, they should actually impose meaningful consequences for their misogynistic insults and disrespect to female and LGBT users. There was one time they instead punished the user constantly receiving misogynistic insults instead, which pisses me off to this day.

Refusing to comment on a specific thread maker's threads even if they ask a decent question, no. Sounds petty.
But avoiding thread makers who happen to make threads I consistently don't like or ones I'm just not smart/articulate enough to comment on, yes. Which....is prolly still really petty, not sure lol.

If i'm motivated or interested, i comment every shit with my personal opinion. No need to avoid some ppl which have a totally opposite opinion as me. As long as you're no lolicon or pedophilia guy we can discuss about everything.

All that really matters to me is if I have something to contribute to the conversation. If I have a response, I will do it, if not, I won't. Simple as that.

I would only do that to users I really don't like. But even then, that's just a few. I may disagree with plenty of users sometimes on here, but it's not enough to make me dislike them to the point where I avoid them at all.

Most of the time when I don't respond to a thread, I'm just not interested in it.

You know, there was one guy (since banned?) who I felt a little concerned about responding to, because he seemed to be actively hostile to those he disliked. In general though, I don't worry about it. The troll accounts are actually kind of fun, because if you act dumb, they'll take a liking to you.

There's about 4 users I rather not engage with due to their desire to post on almost every single thread with pointless minimal thought out responses. Like "I don't know about said topic" answers or worse they respond with a link and nothing else. Your not an internet search result converse like a person. Only feel that way out of pure annoyance, I don't hate them but come on contribute more than "I have no experience with said topic".

yes you op since you keep changing your username and make sus threads like wanting to know if there are criminals on myanimelist so im sure youre doing some social profiling here and its sad considering how worthless to do that here on a small forum

but go ahead and do a social profile of desumaiden since he is definitely a sus kind of pedo

Oh my god, yes, this has always bothered me, there are very specific users on the forums who always do this, I wont name names lol but if they have even an ounce of self-awareness they would know who they are. One in particular always leaves short sentence/single phrase replies on almost every thread, they're super active on CD and have been for years on end with no breaks (that I'm aware of). I have to wonder, how is it even fun to interact on the forums if you just leave one-liners all the time? Also, whenever I come to browse CD once in a blue moon, some threads seem interesting from the title but then you click on one and see the OP started the thread with a five-word sentence lmao, for example the title might be a question but the OP himself doesnt answer it or provide his opinion, they just repeat the question.

@Hydre_Ito That's right, though sometimes those small sentence threads aren't always a bad thing for certain topics. If they're on MAL so much you'd think they'd spend a little extra time & thought on their topic/responses. Or have the foresight to ignore the thread post's they wont contribute to in an impactful way. However I do like the fact they sometimes give attention to casual discussion threads that go unnoticed, sometimes just knowing someone responds can be a positive experience for some MAL users.

Do you avoid certain thread makers?

Yeah.
What would push you to doing this?

I found their topics boring or annoying, or it looks like they are just searching for something to get mad at.
Is there alot of ppl you do this too?

I remember 3 at the moment.
