What was with that start of the episode with an unknown character walking casually and people just dropping like flies left and right around him with no visible cause? For a moment I thought, well here we go, Hapuna finally doing its work, but that was just some crazy introduction of Phantom.

I'm really impressed with Doug's observation skills, especially how he suspected Leland to be a spy. Even I was a little scared when it was happening, but I was relieved when things calmed down and to see that he was actually on their side all along. Well, there's a very real possibility that Lazarus's members will be disposed of after the mission is successful.

It's totally fine that the committee members question what Lazarus has been up to and their search to find Skinner, but what they were really doing was unproductive blabbering and blaming Lazarus for even saving their own, holding some kind of grudge against them instead of focusing on finding Skinner.

Good to see there are no visible marks on Christine's figure. Gotta have my goddess of the show in perfect form.

Never expected that Skinner would be the first to die and with only 10 days remaining until then. Finally... finally that mysterious medicine will be looked into. Either it will give some new clues or it's the medicine to cure Hapuna.

That unknown person has some sick moves, and his fighting style is on par with Axel's, though his method is rather brutal. Now that this man is targeting Axel, it's safe to say that we'll be learning about his part now.

No one will ever convince me that Lazarus isn’t amazing. Might be the best directed episode yet. Ton of extremely well choreographed action courtesy of Chad Stahelski’s group as well, and we got skinner updates for all you plot development merchants lol. No complaints from me.

That opening was absolutely insane. Such a well directed scene. Wow. Holding the shot of bro walking down the street as the world seems to go to hell around him.. paying off the waiter’s line about him continuing to dine out in these troubling times, lovely direction. I knew bro was crazy when we got steak eating ASMR and he ordered only steak, no sides, drinks, etc. Set up phantom killer’s character very well for what we saw at the end of the ep! The OST during that scene was incredible too. Watanabe shows always have music that just take you to another dimension.

Babe wake up, new skinner video dropped! Yet again, he’s right. 10 days from millions dying and the DoD is arguing about stupid shit like the Russians getting a leg up on them?? Like holy shit who cares about military supremacy if there’s no countries left to govern and protect? I know EVERYONE didn’t take Hapna, but enough did that the world population would become drastically smaller. It’s like people have learned nothing, I’d be pissed if I were skinner too.

His statement about no one coming to see him yet reinforces my belief that he just wants people to see all the bad shit that humanity has done, retrace his steps and then have a genuine conversation with him. I think he WANTS someone to find him and prove him wrong.

I was about to be so mad when Leland testified, thought he’d be an opp. But turns out he’s just defending the group and doing a favor for his dad’s friend. We still need his backstory.. but with 3 eps left I don’t think it happens. This show really needed to be like 16-18 episodes and it’d have been perfect.

I’d love to see more casual moments of the team hanging out, the banter like when Axel was teasing Chris about her clothes being so messy and that’s why she couldn’t find the pill was so good. The dialogue just feels really natural and the seiyuu talk in such realistic tones. Could gush forever about it.

BUT let’s be real, phantom killer’s “test” was the big highlight of the episode and holy shit that was amazing. Some of the best choreographed action you’ll see. Felt just like a John wick action scene, creative kills, awesome camera angles, clean and professional. Idk how axel’s gonna beat him but I can’t wait. Axel has to know some really important shit if they want him gone like this.

We finally got to see some real actions. This one is pretty John Wick tho. I can't wait to see the showdown between Axel and this Soryu guy. Not to mention Axel's real identity. Why is he getting targeted by the military? Is he really that dangerous? or maybe there's something special about him? This also could be related to the fact that Hapna didn't give any effects to Axel. Man, I'm so hyped for it's ending!!!

Damn haven't seen a killer in black with wires this good since Darker Than Black. Wonder why they're trying to kill Axel but I guess we'll find out eventually.

Also can't believe the pill Chris picked up that long enough suddenly relevant. The Chekhov's pill.

That's 9 episodes of Lazarus down. Are they any closer to Skinner after this episode? No, of course not. Remember, you're watching Lazarus. Where the plot never progresses.

The opening was massively cringe. I only eat one serving of steak for peak performance. So here's a 2 minute scene of me walking 0.3 mph down a sidewalk. Whatever. I know the ending scene counters that, but by that point I could not possibly care.

Shinichiro Watanabe said that the story would develop rapidly from episode 9 onwards, but of course that didn't actually happen.
A lame, outdated assassin who has nothing to do with Skinner appears and the series wastes time as usual.

It seems Watanabe's intention is get Skinner in the last second of the show, get the antidote, and the world is saved!
That's why they keep stalling the mission, and getting derailed that we would like to.

What bothered me, why is the military trying to kill Axel if they don't know what exactly he did??

I guess the "end of the world" madness has started to take hold with all that mayhem in the streets at the beginning of this episode. Just casually walking through it is a valid reaction in my eyes. You've got to cling to normalcy where you can!

Listening to the government debate the effectiveness of team Lazarus made for a pretty amusing moment. The writers knew what some people in the audience would be thinking. I'm of the opinion that the groups misadventures have been quite enjoyable.

I thought Leland went traitor for a second there! Nice twist that Hirsch's boss Abel was his dad's friend. Lazarus is quite the solid team!

That assassin that was hired to take down Axel has got some moves decapitating all of those armed operatives like that. Our hero is going to be in trouble!

Probably the worst episode.

This opening scene is just beyond "laughably bad".

Also, the writers finally make it clear that they are self-aware of Lazarus not achieving anything, which is "wtf?". I mean, if you know that, why did you make it happen then? I think they believe it's a smart move to admit they have no plot...

I am again questioning: WHY were these people assembled in Lazarus? A bunch of random people not wanting to do the job in the first place. A bunch of random people without any field experience. Oh no, they are not a bunch of random people. Some of them have connections to Skinner... And it leads to nothing and doesn't play any role. The only dark horse now is Axel. It's bold to assume we get a satisfying revelation though.

Then Skinner appears and states another piece of stupidity of the plot: nobody is searching for him. Why? Nobody cares.

But hey! They finally remembered the pill. Just when they completely have no leads. When did they find it? In the second episode? It will be infinitely worse if this pill has a great influence on the plot. And will, considering it's "Lazarus".

Axel and Dough discuss possibility of government to get rid of them, because they know too much... Excuse me? They've got ZERO information.

Then there is an assassin. It feels like they just blatantly copied Hei from Darker Than Black. Lmao.

Even the usually good action scene can't overcome the bad aftertaste the episode left.

HOLY PEAK EPISODE

Honestly this may be my favorite episode so far in terms of screenwriting, there are so many minute details that enhanced the vibe and intrigue when it came to the pentagon, the Lazarus' operation and livelihood put into question, Skinner's new message, Leland being Abel's son??, the slow walk introduction of this seemingly 'invisible' contractor and the sinister 'ghost' assassin sent after Axel.

It was simply great! Gave me massive Deus Ex and secretive societies/orgs/conspiracies vibes. Mmm, man I hope it only gets even more intricate and complex from here on out. I'd be lying to say that I'm not hyped for Axel's encounter with this ghost assassin guy.

And even more interestingly, they seem to tease us quite a bit with Axel's past so I am also quite curious how will that unfold. Maybe he has some ties to Skinner somehow? Idk.

Also, if Leland's dad was a good friend of Abel, does that disprove Axel and Doug's worries about Lazarus not only being disbanded afterwards but also its members being hunted down and killed? Although, Leland himself seems to act quite oddly, so what more could he be hiding from them?

9 episodes and the government as well as the audience is starting to get tired of having no Skinner updates. It seems like the way to move the plot forward is to have him post another video himself and now a killing machine on the loose. Also, we had a sequence of a minute and a half with a guy walking towards the camera that to me only served as a way to keep praising the camera but question the decision itself.

In any case, 4 episodes to go.

Skinner didn’t take the antidote, so he’ll be the first to die in ten days. Amid all this genocidal madness he’s trying to pull off, he does have a point—governments are more focused on international conflicts and blaming Lazarus than on actually stopping him.

More mysteries surround the protagonists. Leland seems far more connected to the higher-ups than expected—even though he was called to testify, he still seems deeply involved with Lazarus. But Axel remains the most enigmatic character. The fact that someone is willing to burn through thirty million dollars and sacrifice multiple soldiers just to test the Phantom’s ability to kill Axel is not normal. And if it all just boils down to him escaping prison, that’s suspicious. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Phantom is somehow linked to Axel.

That said, the action sequence in this episode was spectacular.

Stuff just happening. What is going on in the opening shot, just a normal day in America? Axle and Doug predicting the government will neutralize them as soon as their job is done becuase they know secrets. What government secrets? Nothing like that was ever shared to them. Speaking of government, finally they question the teams operations and their catastrophies, however Skinner conveniently releases a new doomposting vid and everyone change their mind back. Except like one guy that hires an assasin. But then dude thought 30mil is too expensive so he spent more than that and lead to huge casualties just to be sure

After previous bloodbath episode, this episode open with a mass shooting (probably due to world's end apocalypse stress) and end with massacred "test". I may have to embrace the fact that this anime will never go back to being just a peaceful adventurous journey again. But at least it's highly stylish, even in its darkest moment.

I thought about hiring HQ to find Skinner but when I watch it again HQ requires the accurate detail of the target. Skinner lacks location data so he doesn't fit HQ's criteria to accept the job.

And yes Axel, I agree with you that I find it disappoint that Doug won't ask you for dating!

I was so confused by that extended walking sequence because you can clearly tell that no one was moving, mfs were just walking in the same spot ๐Ÿ˜ญ

I wouldn't be surprised if the pill from earlier in the series that Chris found in the laundry pile has something to do with a potential Hapna antidote.

The Chinese dude at the end was cool with how he was killing the SWAT team, but I can't help but find it funny that all those lives were sacrificed for a "test" because the Army dude was initially hesitant to agree to a $30 million fee ๐Ÿ’€

BAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAH

I TAKE IT BACK, I TAKE BACK EVERYTHING I SAID THIS IS THE BEST ANIME OF ALL TIME 5/5 GOD BLESS WATANABE!

First of all, WHAT IS THIS FUCKING 2 MINUTES SHOT OF A GUY WALKING DURING A SHOOTOUT WHILE EMO MUSIC IS PLAYING LMAO?! This might be the most corniest, cringiest and funniest scene I've seen in any anime, it is so ridiculously bad it would be outdated by THE 2000S STANDARD, this show has escaped from the Linkin Park era. It genuinely feels like an anime shitpost you'd find on youtube, I applaud such boldness.

Now onto the real cinema.
They are ACTUALLY HAVING A MEETING TO DISCUSS HOW INCOMPETENT THE ENTIRE SQUAD HAS BEEN SO FAR, LIKE YOU CANNOT MAKE THAT SHIT UP?!
"The biggest problem is this series of actions has no direct connection to their mission of finding Skinner"
BAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHHHHHHHHHHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH
THE SHOW LITERALLY TELLS YOU THAT ALL THE CHARACTERS HAVE DONE FOR THE PAST 8 EPISODES WAS COMPLETELY POINTLESS AND A WASTE OF TIME.
LIKE THE BIGGEST CRITIQUE TOWARDS THIS SHOW IS SIMPLY CONFIRMED BY THE SHOW ITSELF, THAT EVERYTHING THAT HAS BEEN DONE SO FAR WAS FILLER.

At this point I wonder how can you even defend this show, you have to be mentally insane to not see the glaring issue with this, the worse is that everything that is told is true. Every single side plot that were introduced are meaningless in finding Skinner. Why the cult? Why the dance party? Why the swimming episode? It has absolutely not a single correlation whatsoever towards finding Skinner. The entire Lazarus squad is actively procrastinating their own mission by doing whatever the hell they want and justify it by going "it might be infos" but since episode2, they didn't made a single progressed towards finding Skinner at all.

Imagine if Rainbolt was in this anime he would have found that bum Skinner in less than 20 minutes, probably 10. Analysing every background elements of his vlogs, track all the plane travels he did, trace the videos he upload (not like they have a super hacker), ACTUALLY DO SOME WORK TOWARDS FINDING SKINNER. What anyone in the squad has done so far but causing collateral damage, kill a bunch of guards and russian soldiers, crash a cult and swim in the Maldives?

The question now is, will they finally advance on their mission or do nothing for 3 episodes again and find Skinner at the very last episode? They are so incompetent I gasped when Christine just say "I forgot about it" concerning a major clue to their mission, this anime is almost going meta in how much it fails its own premise.

I kinda love how skinner doesn't take the antidote because he wants to make a dumb point about humanity being the real villains and wants to give the heroes a chance to save humanity or something pretentious. It's another episode with a single very good fight sequence at the absolute last minute which doesn't make up for the episode of more boring plot that goes nowhere. It's funny that the govt is now investigating lazarus and leland is totally a snitch but works for hersh and the investigation also goes no where. 4 more episodes to go. we're almost there.

Also the initial scene where the guy is just walking in-place, and it's hard to know if he's behind or in front of the corpses.

All that government talk was also useless because it says nothing, it has no message: They act like that not because of something fundamental about government, people or society; they do so because the writers made them act that way, there's no argument was to why they would act that way and not any other way.
The writing is the definition of a strawman: Make a distorted, retarded version of an argument, debunk it, and tell yourself and others how smart you are.

Fucking Schwarzesmarken does a better job at the "even at the face of apocalypse, humanity will still prioritize it's own conflicts" thing, and I have never watched it.

Wow, finally...!!! I was starting to get bored with this new story from the great Shinichiro Watanabe. It's not like it's gotten too far, but at least the visuals this time were spectacular... From the first episode, I'd been wondering what Chad Stahelski (John Wick's father, for those who don't know) was doing there, and today that doubt was cleared up. Finally, a magnificent sequence with all his hallmarks, the one I'd been waiting for from the beginning and which is appearing nine weeks later...

Honestly, I don't think the story will improve; it doesn't have much to offer, but today's footage is appreciated...

@Kai200X :: In fact, he's not a "John Wick-type" character; that fight was surely designed and directed by John Wick's father himself: Chad Stahelski. He's the Action Supervisor; check out the opening 00:35, his name is there... I hope the fight against Axel is as epic as a Spike vs. John Wick showdown... But that's dreaming too much after eight average episodes...
