A marriage? I know Ruka is one of the more mature characters but is he even ready...

This is heading into the climax as the headmaster has been making important decisions in these recent episodes. Ren continues to also show love and care towards Mito. Looks like Ruka is willing to do anything to prove his love.

Ruka's hesitation to save Mito results in her drowning, leaving her safe into Ren's hands after Komori saved her. And to be honest, Mito is better off with Ren than Ruka, which he drowns in Miko's temptations, and not before Komori confirms her as his destined partner for marriage and to be his successor. The kicker, however, is the sang sucre blood necklace that Komori took from Mito, which he immediately is rung the bells about her, and even choosing to forfeit his vampire self to choose to be with her.

By the time that Ruka came to Ren's place, Mito has been assigned to be his butler, and the intention that she has lost her memories, is part of the family's plan to brainwash her into the family, leaving Ruka to learn to accept Mito all over again, but too bad it's pitch black. Even Ren could not discern his own father's plot, but yet, everything is moving thus towards Ren's profit.

Will Ren ever get a chance to foil things before it gets too far?

I hate Ren so much. He's such an ass and never thinks about her feelings. Hopefully he dies in the next episode.

In this week’s episode of wtf did I just watch, the epitome of terrible writing and ridiculously stupid characters continues to destroy the enjoyability of this show.

Mito is a whiny see you next Tuesday as always. She never once came clean to Ruka about being a female and about her being his destined partner, yet she whines and moans and expects him to automatically realize she is the real female Mito. She hasn’t even bothered to declare that Miko is fake. You seriously can’t write much worse than this.

Then, said whiny runt with a capital C declares to Ren, the man responsible for the majority of her current pain and suffering, that “Ruka has someone else” without any explanation as to what this actually means. Because Ren is apparently a telepath who can just read her mind. Then, she tells said telepath that she trusts him to make the best decision for her right now in her grief by erasing her memories of Ruka as her feelings for Ruka are as meaningless as the existence of fleas. This is the absolute most riveting anime of the year and it deserves to win a golden globe.

Ruka realizes for the umpteenth time that he made a terrible mistake and attempts to fix things once again. He’s shocked to realize that Mito is now Ren’s unpaid servant and no longer remembers who Ruka is. The two children fight over the property known as Mito. Mito’s alternate memories show just how narcissistic and full of shit Ren truly is and that he’s an incredibly bad guy who will do anything his absentee mommy and daddy tell him to with complete disregard for right and wrong. Ren will make a great father one day!

Shocked Pikachu! Ren and Mito are going to be married less than 24 hours since Ruka chose fake Mito! It’s true love! How romantic! Ren is determined to own that hot piece of Mito property regardless of how Mito feels. Nobody really cares how Mito feels except for the side characters, huh? And they’re conspicuously absent during this entire episode. I assume Takara and Juri are off fu..,er, playing where’s Waldo.

Ren is finally shown a partial truth in that his dead beat daddy has been pulling the strings behind the scenes. As we gaze at Ren’s face in the final moments, you can’t help but realize one of his eyes is noticeably larger than the other.

How things will end up is anyone’s guess as this entire house of cards is about to fold. We’ll find out next week, same bat time, same bat channel!

I know this is supposed to be a "love triangle" here but let's be real, Ren is NOT a love rival, he is a villain, straight up. Everything he does is selfish and antagonistic, without care or regard for Mito's feelings. He doesn't love her, he doesn't care about her, he views her as property and a toy that he wants to steal from Ruka at all costs.

This whole arc has been a total reversal of his character that was originally shown. He hates vampires, yet he takes Mito directly into the vampire's den and is now planning to marry her as a vampire bride. He hates his dad, yet goes along with all of his dad's bs and basically does whatever he wants. Why? It's a total contradiction of who he was established to be as a character early on, and now he's just an antagonistic, naricisstic prick who doesn't care how much suffering or pain he inflicts on Mito (all of what she's going through right now is his fault btw), but it doesn't matter as long as he can manipulate and brainwash her into becoming his servant/forced bride. This is villain shit, this isn't done out of love.

Ruka isn't perfect but at least he actually loves Mito and cares about her, and realizes he was dense as a brick. Mito is also the cause of most of her own problems too because there was no reason at this point that she couldn't have come clean to Ruka about being a girl, about everything that happened, and that she likes him. I'm sorry but you can't expect a man to just read your mind and know exactly how you're feeling, you have to actually communicate.

Also this show contradicts its own lore sometimes? So Ren is planning to marry Mito to become the new vampire ruler, but uhhh he turned Mito into a boy? This whole shitshow started because the vampire leaders were throwing a fit over Ruka falling in love with a "boy" because apparently the destined partner can only be a woman. So what is gay marriage okay now when Ren does it? Or was he gonna like, snap his fingers and give Mito her tits back after the wedding? Like what even?

No i don’t think Ren will become the vampire ruler. He said something about Dhampirs being looked down upon and his dad hated that so he wanted to take their next ruler’s bride into their hands. I think for a sense of authority but I don’t think Ren is qualified for that because he’s a half-blood and Mito isn’t even his “destined partner” so I don’t think the bride logic applies.

@_nika Hmm maybe so, even still the logic is just super weird and doesn't really make sense, it could be explained a lot better

Grabbing the hand of the first person to fall does not count as choosing them, what kind of messed-up logic is that? And then it looks like she deliberately let go after that, preventing both to be saved.

I know Mito has mental trauma from feeling unloved and now being the wrong sex and trying to suicide for the second time, but she could have prevented all this by actually communicating.

I'm sure it's all going to magically get resolved next ep, but ugh.

Well it’s about time Ruka chose her as Mito even if he doesn’t know she’s not a man. I honestly think this episode was better in this regard. I don’t think Ren was being selfish necessarily because he didn’t know the story but all he knows is that Ruka broke her heart. However by taking her as his bride under false pretense makes him worse than Ruka.

What depresses me is all the people hating on Ren in the CR comments, when it's painfully obvious what's going to happen next episode.

Well ill admit that episode was better than the last few, I'm glad this double Mito plot never dragged out. Now I'm just curious to see if Mito will get her/his memories back and become a girl again.

I smell a character redemption coming from Ren

Everyone in this story so stupid lmao 🐶 💔

I get Ren had good intentions, but altering Mito’s memories and having her live out her life as a male servant is just way overboard. He should’ve tried to get to the bottom of things or at least wait for Mito to calm down and have a proper talk.

Mito overreacting to Ruka saving the clone was doing way too much. Why not just talk to Ruka, tell him the truth etc etc. after all this time together you’d think she’d have more trust than this built up.

Ruka’s dumb for not being inquisitive enough and falling for everything. Took way too long to bail and go looking for Mito

Ren’s dad is a pos and I hope he gets his in this final episode. I still don’t see how this won the magazine 70th anniversary award.. was it the only thing submitted?

Alright, I expected the sinking-into-the-depths-while-big-sad segment but wasn't expecting Mito to be reprogrammed by Ren. Looks like it is building towards a showdown between Ren and his dad though as expected. I just wish Ruka had realised cat woman was fake and kicked her out of the carriage.

Also, to be fair, not all the characters are stupid, mainly just the main 3.

The last episode is going to be tense man, because clearly Ren is going to help Ruka recover Mito because she was deceived along with Ruka by a lackey of her father pretending to be her, man the next episode promises much more, but In this episode, it was cool to see Ruka finally admitting and going after his true love. What a great anime

Holy hell. I am at 10:00 but need to comment before continuing. Founder, Ren, Ren's Dad, Mystery imposter. They all need to receive a modified Saitama training of 100 Slaps, 100 Groin Kicks, and 5-mile horse drag by feet. Mito i'm a little annoyed with, as the totality of circumstances would lead you to talk to Ruka, since he clearly wanted to save her but was tricked to have his hands tied at wrong moment as Miko fell first. PLEASE have Ruka tell the whole country "screw y'all, I need to make amends with this man who forgot me", and then he somehow lifts Ren's 1st curse, and 2nd wish grant.

After actually finishing episode, I want to make clear
-yes I knew Komori was on "Team Mito x Ruka", but his style for it was so damn twisted and traumatic. It has to be something with him being the true successor so has to prove he truly is committed to his destined partner, but still, so trash
-yes I know Ren does not MEAN harm, but dude... like others have said he's an absolute failure.

Ren appears to FINALLY be realizing that HE'S the bad guy here. Like damn dude. He really is messed up like his parents, but less meaning to. Marriage will likely have all Vampire country attend, then Ren undo the damage he's done, and Mito marry Ruka and take control with Ren being forgiven. That is my hope/expectation, but we shall see.

4/5, I liked it even with the issues. I do enjoy romance even if ticked off from unneeded drama. Mito really has someone who can't live without her <3

quick edit after reading everyone's thing and instead of quote replying so many people I'll just say "agreed".

I feel really bad for Ruka.

I kind of get Red editing Mito's memories as she requested but how much was for her and how much for him is questionable.

I really love the idea of Ren just being a straight-up villain. I think it's pretty funny, but from the looks of it, I'm going to assume that he does a 180 at the end and becomes a "Good Guy."

This really became a total car crash in an instant. It’s not like I can look away now, but it sure hurts to watch.

Like, what in the brain-washing? Ren masquerading as the owner of the house with that minuscule ounce of pretend authority his father let him have? Not to mention these people being enrolled students, Ruka begging to slave away at that house to stay by Mito’s side? Was there really no other way to achieve that? Did his vampire powers dissipate all at once? I mean, he was supposed to be the Founder’s successor, did the effect of the proposed banishment kick in already? Make it make sense…
