The poor sales make me say no.
But I do really hope so, such a great setup for a Slice of Life.

Amazing anime like this don't sell... If they'd put mechs in it, panty shots and plot without sense it would sell like hot cakes...

Hell, Guilty Crown sold great even without the panty shots (skin-tight suits instead) and was absolutely terrible.

It's doubtful this will get another season but I always like having an animated version of something, if for no other reason than to make the series seem more 'alive.'

From what I've saw the manga seems to be doing really well sales wise, actually.

The manga's sales are really good (for example, more than 700 000 volums for the 11th book in 3 or 4 days after out) but anime's sales are bad...
So, I d'ont really know. Plus, I don't know when they're giving some news about that (for a positive or negative answer).

Edit : does anybody knows if this is A1-Pictures who made the Gin no Saji stickers that I saw on tumblr ? Because if they are from them, then the picture whith the blond girl who hugs Hachiken is MAYBE a proof for a season 3 (since this girl appears in winter arc).

I got a question for manga fans. What chapter did the anime/Season 2's finale end at? (approximately where rather)

Chapter 76, when Vice-Prez discovers the snow. But you should, if you want, read the chapter 74 because Hachimom met Mikage in, since the anime skipped that scene.
Or read the entire manga ^^. But you can start at the chapter 76.

Thing is Season 1 didn't sell that well to get a season 2 compared to all other anime on the same line so it might have a high chance of getting a 3rd season in my own opinion!

Of course that is given there is enough manga left to make it happen, also where they left it at or at least to me makes it very unfair as I would love to see how it will disclose for Mikage's exams and weather he will go ahead and take exams with her or how it will develop from where it left off.

It is just amazing and the characters (others than Mikage and Hachi) are bit more presents than in the anime, like Nishikawa (in an hilarious conversation with Hachi while playing at his ero game for example) or Shingo in the festival of the highscool.
Plus, the second year is about to begins and, all I can say is, this gonna be awesome.

If the manga is selling well, they may make another season. Even if the anime doesn't sell spectacularly, most anime adaptations are meant to promote the source anyway these days. If the anime makes the manga sell more, they'll probably make more seasons.

Or, I really really hope so lol.

The manga sales have always been really good and the anime didn't boost them by that much. This coupled with poor sales makes me think it won't get one, though I definitely hope it does!

@namedrisk - It was announced as a split-cour series from the very start. The second season would have come even if the first had an Aku no Hana level flop.

I would've bought (import) Silver Spoon blu rays in a heartbeat if they had English subs. Aniplex of America doesn't seem interested in giving the show a proper English release outside of streaming, sadly.

This is one of those situations that make me want to stop watchin anime altogether. I mean - you get an awesome (REALLY AWESOME) series but because it doesn't sell - it's not gonna continue and you are forced to read manga or abandon it completely. Why are sales only high on stupid mecha/ecchi/fanservice shit?
It warants at least 2 seasons - for 2nd and 3rd years. Or even 4 if they were to be played out like this one. But of course we are not gonna get it... I just pray I'm wrong about this.

Yeah, just like the United States renewal system is broken, being biased by stupid crap - so is Japan's! Anime really needs a "Netflix" that can take older, critically loved but failing shows and revive them!

And it always pisses me off when animes are no more than advertisements for their mangas.

Ah, how depressing! I for sure thought there would be a 3rd season, but now I'm uncertain. :P To be true though, it took me awhile to sit down and watch this anime because of the subject matter. Farming? Sounding a little boring, so I could see why sales might not be that great for the anime.

Though considering this is by the manga-ka who created FMA - I was sure anything she did after would be a hit no matter what. Well, the manga is doing great is sales at least.

Also, I was just reading Hiromu's bio, and had no idea she grew up on a dairy farm. So cool. I wonder how much of the story she's drawn upon from her life.

Also - looks like Aniplex is releasing the U.S. version this July of season 1.

One can only hope. Unfortunately Silver Spoon probably doesn't look as attractive as the other flashier anime currently selling, but hopefully it'll manage.

It's something...they might do a dub release later...

Anyway, thanks website. 'US, CANADA, Central and South Americas ONLY ' Gosh, importing it to the Netherlands would be expensive as hell I think... 60 bucks is a lot already. I might ask it as my b-day present I guess, I really love this series...

Hopefully a third season will come when there are enough new manga chapters out.

As someone who is relatively new to anime, this shit is frustrating as hell and this co-dependence of manga/being seen only as a means to promote manga makes no sense to me.

Oh well, here's to hoping for a season 3. I'm not satisfied at ending with that.

I feel your pain... I am starting to be irritated by the same... and wish mangas would just case to exist or that anime would be in depended of manga.

I'm probably gonna start the manga pretty soon. Annoying, but I'm tired of waiting! To play devil's advocate, this isn't really a story that absolutely warrants animation anyway, this is more about situational comedy and character development, which comes across just fine in manga form. Plus you will get the complete, unaltered artist's vision which is pretty cool!

What's really grating is when less deserving shows get sequels, but Silver Spoon (one of the best animes in recent memory for me) doesn't!

Gin no Saji doesn't have magic battles or harems or random plot twists and fan service, so of course it won't be successful! Not in the state the anime industry is in right now.

Love this series (manga and anime alike). I don’t really want to hold by hopes up for another season, but sometimes you never know. It happened to Working!! (another series I fully enjoyed, but I didn’t think was going to have another season after the second one was over, but now here it is...... dreams sometime come true, I guess).

I like action/harem/romance/drama shounens (not gonna lie, they are entertaining. Most recently Nanatsu no Taizai, Nisekoi, and Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso), but I absolutely love slice of life’s shounens like this a lot more.

Well, idk if producers care more about Japan's sales or foreign sales and TV viewing. I love this anime, its not that appealing or entertaining but its certainly enjoyable and fun to watch. Shame if A-1 pictures decide against a third season. Tired of all the recent gory, ecchi and harem crap thats been going mainstream.

You mean there just so that they can sit and write the same manga till the end of their career. Well, it is their living, what if they can't think of a better story, then after the manga finished they'd have no income- that's what a friend reasoned :P

I pray to God there will be, I want the 2nd and 3rd years to be animated and everything, maybe even a spinoff after high school or something. That's probably way too much to expect, but I just need more. I'll probably just have to read the manga, but I hope they'll continue the anime because I love their voices and everything... (´Д` )

damn, well the anime is making a bit more money, its been added to streaming services like netflix and hulu so hopefully thatll bring in a bit more cash, i really want a season 3, what bugs me is they have all of it so far on netflix but its all marked as one season instead of the two it actually is, so when i search season 2 i watched it already without knowing, binge watched that masterpiece in 2 days, i need more :(
