I feel so sorry for Nanami...having to witness that ust when she's in a very difficult position with her own brother.

I thought that since Nanami is bro-con, finding out she's not related to Touga would make her happy since she can marry him now. I guess I don't understand how this fetish works...

I'd be just as traumatized as Nanami after seeing siibling together, basically naked.

It was interesting that Nanami was shocked, but also disappointed, not happy, when she found out Touga wasn't her real brother!

Why am I calling every single episode of the show the best and start all over after the next one?

Damn, Nanami is about to snap now that she knows Anthy has with her brother what she wish she could have with Touga.

By the way, lmao at Akio screwing Tsuwabuki's chances of having Nanami sleeping at his room.

Honestly, every episode with Nanami as the focus is a pain but at least this one ended up being plot-relevant. Utena continues to be painfully ignorant about everything that's happening under her nose and the deal between Akio and Anthy was finally confirmed in its entirety. Hard to tell based on quick frames but it seems the relationship between them has stopped being consensual since quite a while.

I particularly loved the cinematography used in this episode, every time they paused with Nanami i was just grinning. You could feel the incest slowly creeping up the whole time.

I was fighting the urge to skip this one when I saw nanami as the focus, glad I didn't lmao

Even if they aren't blood siblings it's still weird if Nanami's in love with Touga seeing as they were raised as siblings and she even said she sees him as one still, but also she semeed like she might be realising she doesn't like Touga that way?

Not rlly sure, alls I know is no matter what they do I won't be able to bring myself to like Nanami lmao

Propably to late to comment about it for you, but I noticed this was also said by other people here, and I wanted to add my point of view for this.

Nanami has a brother complex and that is why she loved Touga the way she did. I don't think she would love him the same way if she knew that he never was her real brother from when she was young.
So when she discovers that Touga is not her real brother, it actually shutters her world because now she have to answer the following question - can she love someone who isn't her brother?

We can see her struggle in her words:

"Suddenly not having a brother... What am I suppose to do?!"
- Her world got shuttered.
"I still consider you my brother!", "I can't ignore everything I've felt till now!"
- The only way she can stay sane.
"Because I love you, Big Brother"
- She can't let go of her perception of Touga being her brother, because again, can she truly love someone who isn't her brother?

Now she is completely lost, can't even be near Touga and doesn't know what to do next. And to rub salt into her wound, she witnessed Anthy's and Akio's incest, which represents the peak of relationship of a siblings (the thing that Nanami desired the most for herself), and it put her in a total despair, which is also symbolized by the dramatic music, her face expression and the elevator descending, exactly as her mental state after her discoveries.

Before, the hanky-panky with Akio and Anthy was implied... then, Ikuhara decides to backhand the audience with it fully shown. I want to know what the meaning of Anthy rising up was at the very end... Poor Nanami...

I loved the music where Nanami was staring at the ceiling... wish that track was longer. Sounded like great ambient.

Incest: the episode. I'll admit, I'm so over Nanami in general and particularly her obsession with her "big brother" Touga that I could barely muster the energy to care about much of this episode. Even more so because it seems weird to me that this is even an issue, as not being blood-related changes nothing about their past relationship.

Also, no shit that Akio and Anthy have been having sex. I thought that was very clearly implied by the brief scenes we saw of their weekend meetings previously, and I don't think it especially matters that Nanami of all people found out about it. Now, if Utena found out about it (remember when she was the main character, cos the show seems to have forgotten), that would be much more interesting and provide a really good set-up for the final run of episodes.

Can't but think Anthy intentionally lost in rock-paper-scissors to protect Utena and Nanami. She just waited till the two showed their hands before she showed hers.

I was surprised that Touga is adopted. I mean I noticed that he and Nanami don't look alike, but I thought it was just for the sake of their colorful designs or something. Weird.
I wonder what Nanami will do now that she knows about Anthy and Akio. Will she tell people or keep it to herself?

okay but why is she upset he's not her actual brother wouldn't that make things easier to date him??? like obviously that must be a shock but i thought she'd be happy!!! maybe she's just into the idea of incest... anyways, i still like her despite everything she's my child lmao.
also that harem joke.... ew.... anyways, i fear anthy was raped by her brother this time idk something felt off but i might be wrong hm... great episode!!!

edit: realizing  now that maybe she never wanted to date him, she's a young girl seeking love and validation, she doesn't want this incest shit, she wants wants to feel protected by a male figure (i guess a lot of girls feel that way)

I originally thought this was gonna be another nonsense episode where they took their foot of the gas when it came to advance the story. I've never been more happy to be incorrect.

The wheels are going to start falling off soon and we are in for one hell of a MVA.

Blood or not, sis and bro are still sis and bro. It still ends up being a weird brocon fetish Nanami has all the same. I don't feel sorry for her one bit, but I am interested in the person she could be if she wasn't defined by her brother and all that school nonsense.

Plus I love the fact that some point Nanami is going to be the one to tell Utena about how Akio treats family affairs, THAT episode is gonna be great.

I am curious tho. What exactly does Akio get out of fucking Anthy? What power does Akio covet?
