That is it. At least it should not be. =/

Accompanying the series for 4 seasons to end with an "open-eding"..?
This is frustrating.

They did 80%. With the 5th season would be 100%, this is where (I'm guessing) Yumi would be graduating, more or less in the 5th season.

I dont read the Novel and I don't know how it ends; and, putting aside those animes with countless number of episodes (like Naruto, DBZ e etc - the classics), I know that Maria-sama anime would have an end, but this end should have been at least with Yumi graduating. 80% but not the 100%..? Why..? Why 80% but not 100%..? For those who followed all the series untill now, this is frustrating.

Anyway, I enjoyed the series, really.

(Although I didn't like some obsessive actions by some characters towards another. For example, episode 11 from Season 2, where Yumi, even with Sachiko turning her down all the times, she was almost crawling to Sachiko. Putting down Yumi as she was nothing and as if Sachiko was the golden air Yumi needs to breath to be able to live.

Cases like this / also happens in the 4th: Yumi + Touka and Noriko + Touka. And all this makes me wonder: Untill where this obsession really exists? Untill where the person can humble herself to try to stay with the person she wants? This happens so often in real life like the anime seems to show for us? If yes, I didn't realized, really. I know that it's an anime, but still... makes me wonder, and I can't help but compare with the real life.

Anyway, again, despite all this, I enjoyed following their lives and relationships.
And the cenary is unusual, where the (catholic) school they study has a system of "onee-sama" and "imouto", and it's due this system where, most of the relationships in Maria-sama starts and progresses.

The time gap between each season (1 to 2; 2 to 3 and 3 to 4) were all about 1 year. Thinking like this, I guess that the 5th season will not exist. It has been already 6 years since the 4th season, so I can't see it happening, unfortunately.

'Anime List' is saying that the Novel is still ongoing, but I don't know... the last volume was volume 39, and it was released in 2012... and we are already in 2015... It has been 3 years since the last volume, so...

Anyway, according to 'mangaupdates', the anime ended at the beginning of the volume 29 of the Novel. Wow, 4 seasons (3rd was 5 OVAs with 50 min. each) with each one 13 episodes covering 29 volumes.

Anyway... Don't know what to say more. LoL

Lol took me like 4 years to finish this show and I actually remember (not entirely) what happened before it left off.

I think season 5 will never happen.

This is going to be more of a comment on the series of a whole rather than just S4 Episode 13.

Wow. I'm honestly shocked I did not even notice this gem and have been holding it off for the longest time. I finally gave up and decided "hell, why not watch some shoujo crap cause I feel like watching some love story junk". But I was wrong, completely and utterly wrong about this show.

The first season was odd, it felt very cliche but also wasn't cliche. It didn't have much of the shoujo tropes (these didn't show up until season 2 actually). It was interesting and I watched it very slowly. Took me about 1 week and a half to finish the first season.

Season 2 felt like a step in the right direction initially. The White Rose sisters feel like the pair (triplet) that haven't been touched upon the most in the anime, and they're actually my favorite girls. Noriko is my favorite character in the series, so I was very happy to see some action with Shimako. The later half felt VERY shoujo and I basically rolled my eyes. The classic misunderstanding arc, although I will admit I didn't expect Touko to actually not be the rival of Yumi for Sachiko's feelings. It ended how I expected it to end and was pretty dissatisfied by the clicheness.

Season 3 surprised me. The art got an upgrade, though that makes sense considering the show turned into an hour long. Season 3 was VERY good, not cliche at all and had a lot of good character development between Yumi and Sachiko. Unfortunately we pretty much only saw Yumi and Sachiko and I've noticed that was kind of the huge thing of the show. We see very little of the other girls (Noriko and Shimako ESPECIALLY) and the Red Roses get all the attention. That being said I did enjoy season 3 a lot, and I would say it was the high point of the anime series.

Season 4 completely blew my mind. I was a bit miffed at the opening song changing and initially I thought it was gonna be terrible with that small change in direction. Silly me though! Season 4 did basically what all the other seasons did not do. It actually had the characters that weren't Yumi and Sachiko DO SOMETHING. Shimako and Noriko (especially Noriko) had a purpose. Yoshino's characterization felt really good to see. Rei and Sachiko didn't have much presence, but that made sense considering they were graduating and had other things to do (unfortunately Rei had less presence than Sachiko, but they gave an excuse for her lack thereof pretty good in the later episodes). Season 4 definitely had to be my favorite. I was wondering if Yumi was ever going to grow up, but they displayed her growth splendidly. Yoshino and Shimako actually were there for Yumi when she was down. Everything just felt right. Of course the biggest issue that we can all agree on was the pacing felt very awkward. Also Kanako's story felt rushed as hell, not to mention she didn't show up after like episode 5 or 6 ever again. However I will give credit to Touko. Her character surprised me and threw me off. At first I thought she would end up being Yumi's sister, but just use her as a substitute for Sachiko and Yumi would have to fight against Touko for Sachiko's affection (cliche as hell). However they didn't do that (thankfully). Then I thought she'll end up being Yoshino's sister instead of Yumi's because honestly the way she acted didn't look like she liked Yumi much, but I felt like her early character felt like it fit pretty good with Yoshino (both felt pretty direct/assertive like characters). But hot damn I was wrong again. Turns out she was secretly eyeing Yumi right under my nose this whole time! I really did think Kanako would end up being Yumi's sister then Touko as Yoshino end of story, everyone happy, yadda yadda. But the story didn't end up cliche at all and Touko's character was definitely one of the most interesting ones to see grow.

It's very rare for anime to have each season feel better and better. Either the series as a whole is just flat out good (Gintama, Mushishi, etc.) or it starts good but gets worse the continuing seasons. Maria-Sama hits the note perfectly, getting better every season and the characters actually developing, which is what makes the show really great.

I really do hope a Season 5 shows up... the ending feels so much like a cliffhanger. If the Light Novel was translated and up for sale I'd buy them, but unfortunately that isn't the case. Well anyways, looks like this is the end of the road for now. Goddamn this series is really good. It deserves to have a final ending considering the Light Novel is finished. I think it needs 2 more seasons in order to properly end it. That's enough babbling for now, it's 6AM where I am and I just couldn't stop until I finished seeing what happened.

this would be the 2 or 3rd time watching this series and each time i watch it i end up loving the series more and more

when this series first aired and even this season i didnt even know about this series it wasnt untill a few years ago that i actually found out about this series while i was searching for other yuri series i i ended up finding this series

and i have to say im glad i did this series imo was really special to me everything about it was amazing the interactions the art the music the characters everything just went so well with each other that this series is pretty much one of the best yuri/ series ever made imo

out of all the seasons i have to say season 4 is my fave out of them all as i have ever since season 2 shipped yumi x touko and then seeing all the moments that happened in season 4 with the 2 and all the moments its more know with how they feel about each other and for season 4 to build it even more was amazing

though i really did hate the fact that we only got 1 full ep of yumi x touko been wanting it all this time to only get that little bit

then to find out that the series is over the main source the novel its really sad to see that another season will never happen if anything all i really wanted more of was more yumi x touko and of course to see them all graduate and so on

but anyway ill stop here went on long enough ill end with this and say this is a series i will be rewatching for years to come and will forever love this series and the characters in it

So the final episode is Touko finally opening up to someone in Yumi and ends in her becoming Yumi's soeur.

Wish the final season had focussed on the other characters a bit more and wasn't so dramatic.

The ending made me want to watch more, but sadly there aren't any continuation.
Too bad though, I wanted to see more Touko and Yumi moments. I want the two of them to act souers because that would've been very entertaining and adorable to watch.

Damn,
I want more.

If there happens to be a continuation to this. I wouldn't mind if its in the manga or light novel. I would really love to learn what happened next.

This season was the best one so far for me... Second is the 3rd season.
We were able to see all of them grow as a person and mature. I believe that is why all of us are drawn to this series.

choosing Toko was normal, Yumi had not the choice, Sachiko to push Kanako
and all the other candidates.

There was only Toko,at school nobody likes him,
except Noriko.

No one in school the wanted for sister,
grudge for the first year, since the end of the season 2
Yumi to made the worst choice!

it is not a beautiful end to my taste just an end forced by the writer,

I'll be honest, this series didn't quite "grab" me the way I wanted it to, but I do think it got better as the show progressed.

You write this 1 year ago but if you still interest about this series you can read the Light Novel here

Not bad but while Marimite has always been deliberately slow-paced, I think this fourth series was outright dawdling. It probbaly could have told the same story in half the episodes. If it's getting this low on steam, I'm not really sorry this was the last series.

A good ending to this season but as an ending for the whole series, it feels a little unsatisfying/lackluster.

Wonder if Touko is usually kind looking like that at hospital.. Or it's because she's with Yumi now, and usually she's as strict as she is in school.. Well, who knows..
I kinda understand Touko's story, but I don't see too much chemistry between her and Yumi in particular.. Feels like anyone could become Touko's sister, have no idea, why Yumi in particular.. But, I guess, anyone could become Touko's sister.. And Yumi happened to be the one, who cared about her.. In the end - I'd just want to see more of Maria-sama, and to see, how their relationship would go more.. Maybe one year..

Touko finally wants to be Yumi's little sister. Touko has opened up about her past to Yumi, which is something that she's never done before. They will soon be little sisters.

This was a pretty good series. Part of me wishes that there were more, but at the same time, I think that it would be heartbreaking for me to see Yumi's reaction the day Sachiko would graduate, even if she's going to be going to the college next door, so perhaps it really was for the best to end it here.

That’s how the anime ends, after Touko “finds” Yumi’s card that she was sitting on (I didn’t expect that lol, I knew it would be on her but I found that funny lol) Touko uses the date to tell Yumi everything about herself, it’s nice to finally learn a lot about her since she’s remained a mystery for so long, but for us to only get it here at the end kinda hurts, but nice to finally understand.

I also enjoyed the change of scenery, that was one of the things I loved about the 3rd season, and the area was pretty where the hospital was, a perfect place for Touko to info dump on Yumi lol. And they end on the two of them sleeping together on the bus ride home to a nice sunset, as we see a glimpse into the future where Yumi officially makes Touko her sister, a great place to end on.

I’ve been slowly watching through this series since November 2021, and to finally find myself here at the end, doesn’t feel real lol. But it’s been a fun and unique ride, I’ve never watched a Yuri anime like this before, I took a shot in the dark and after a little bit of a curve to get into it, I started to really enjoy this series. To be honest, I think it could have done with a little less drama, but the characters were so good that I found myself enjoying the drama more.

Looking back on the seasons, my favorite was definitely the 3rd Season, I just really enjoyed the plots of each episode and the changes in location (they even left the country for an episode lol), but I’ve definitely enjoyed every season. My only beef with this final season, is that the ending doesn’t leave me very satisfied, I loved seeing Yumi and Touko finally get together, but I would have also liked to see their life after becoming sisters, as well as getting to see Sachiko’s class graduate. But ah well, it was a great season nonetheless, it did very well showing Yumi’s character development as well as Touko. And as for the OPs and EDs of the series as a whole, I think Season 3 had my favorites, but Season 4 also had very good ones, and of course I love the ones for Season 1 and 2, very fitting instrumentals.

And while I would love to see a 5th season, I’m afraid the chances look very slim giving how this is from 2009 lol, but I’m glad to have watched this classic series, it’s one I’ll never forget. And sorry for this massive post but I just had a lot to say lol. And lastly, my best girl was Yoshino, it’s hard to explain but she just did it for me the most lol.

So I just just rewatched the entire series for the third time and I fell inlove to the series even more! I do wish we got season 5 and/plus an OVA to finished of the light novel but we will never get that sadly. Part of me wants to see the relationship Yumi will have with Touko as her little sister but it will also be heartbreaking to watch Sachiko graduating. It will be the same feeling when Sei graduated early on the series as both Sei and Sachiko is my favourite characters through out the series. Of course I do like Yumi especially this season where her character development shines even more.

P.S.: This series along with Utena and Strawberry Panic was my introduction to the yuri/shoujo ai genre back in the mid 2000's.

And this ends this great anime. I would've liked that the handing of the rosary ceremony would be executed better, but it doesn't take away how great this episode is.

As a season finale, it's comparable to season 2's finale, but as a series finale, you can only wish for more as season 5 is unlikely at this point.

Now, the last layer of Touko is peeled away, and in a sense, Yumi and Touko has become one and became worthy of a sœur relationship. And it's a thing of beauty.

I can definitely say that my life is enriched by watching Marimite, one of the best anime I've watched.

Too bad I wasn't ready to watch it for all the years I've known of it.

I'm not sure if I'll like other Yuri / Shoujo Ai anime as much as this one, for this is not the usual genre that I often eatch. But who knows? I'm now ready to explore other titles in this genre.

my favorite shoujo ai, 10/10, but this 4th season ended almost 15 years ago and the novels ended 12 years ago, and I have no idea if they are translated into Spanish. The anime was not ultra popular either, so after so many years I already ruled out any continuation.

I guess I'll just read some spoilers
