I live in West Virginia near Ohio and its not predicted to really harm us except maybe for the panhandle so I'm safe.

I just got one and I'm in central Jersey. I'm not too worried though, as long as you know what to do if it happens. I'm more worried about the giant tree right outside my room that's shaking back and forth. :b

I've had one 30 second power outage so far. Pretty mild and definitely not as bad as I had thought. Still ongoing though so...

All of Long Island, supposedly. Along with NYC and southern Connecticut.

Media sensationalism.

For all I can remember, I've never recalled a weak Cat 1 storm getting this much attention before.

Oooookay. Where I live, it just rained a bit, and that was it. After all the terror and hype, I was almost let down.

Also, no power outage at all.

joking aside, I didn't even get a power outage, which is strange since I get power outages from regular rain lol

Irene is finishing it's rounds up here.

All we got was rain and wind. Leaves are on the ground with an occasional tree branch. There were thunderstorms that were worse than this. However, I hope the people down in the Mid Atlantic states recover soon. They got it the worst.

As I recall, Irene got so much hype because it's apparently the only storm that has ever threatened so many people in the US.

So much for a hurricane in my area. At this point, it's just the occasional powerful gusts of wind, though I did see some trees fall over, but not on any houses. The power didn't go out, but some water did get into my basement. That's something that the pump outside is fixing right now. Basically, I'm o.k.

Yeah, but the media likes to make it seem like millions of people are going to be in danger. All the hype got on my nerves. I'm sure people who went crazy shopping for "disaster kits" must feel really foolish now.
