We know Oda is the biggest Dragonball fan there is. Luffy was based on a young Goku (Goku with his monkey tail, monkee D. Luffy). In Dragonball Goku promised to marry Chi-Chi despite not knowing what it was. He eventually married her. The same one sided love is shown here. |

| I kind of think Luffy & Jinbei saying goodbye in this chapter reinforces the idea that Jinbei will join the crew. He is meeting up with them at Sabaody in 2 years, guessing we'll find out in a few chapters. |

| And thus ends the first half of One Piece. The Post-War Arc is at least my third favorite arc in anime from all I've seen, and while I think the adaption surpasses the original in this case, there's no doubting the brilliance in the source material. Still probably my favorite part of this period (Amazon Lily to time-skip) of One Piece. Overall, I have yet to find a preference between the two, sure the anime has a lot more lows than the manga but it also has a lot of highs either not present in the manga (G-8 arc) or they just accentuate them perfectly that reading the manga afterwards just doesn't have the same affect (Crocodile's defeat in Alabasta is the first that springs into my mind) though I imagine ultimately I'll fall into the manga>anime camp despite my preference to anime over manga. There's a reason I decided to catch up on the manga instead of continuing to marathon the anime. Kind of excited how close I am to catching up to where I am in the anime. But as for the first half of One Piece, it didn't start off as much but once the Arlong Park arc came around so the did the series. Granted, it's not until Alabasta/after Alabasta that the arcs became consistently great for me with a only a few misses (Long Ring Long Island [thank god Foxy is restricted to this arc in the manga]) but damn if it didn't become one of my all-time favorite mangas (though I haven't really read many of them, I still love One Piece). My three favorite arcs of the first half are probably; I. Skypiea, II. Enies Lobby & III. Arlong Park (in the manga, the anime's different outside of Arlong Park). |
| Sorry there were so many post I could not read them all so if someone point these things out already I apologize. First off did anyone else note that the straw hats were also separated two years in REAL WORLD time? Oda has reached META levels of awesomeness now. On another note maybe I am alone but I cannot help but think that the so called "Supreme" haki is the most useless as it only works against low-level opponents that could be easily taken out anyways. |

| I see. So we're getting a time skip huh? Also a training arc. Makes sense. The 'New World' is definitely more dangerous than the first half of the Grand Line. Luffy and his crew have to get much more stronger. 597 chapters!!! And it's been one amazing ride!!! All the characters, the villains, the world building and so much more, were just awesome!!! 10/10 for this pre time skip arc!!! I've been reading One Piece for days together now. I guess It's about time I take a little break. Can't wait to read the next Saga!!! |

| Timeskip is here!!! 2 years of training for all the straw hats! they definitely need it as the new world is WAY too much for them right now! Rayleigh FINALLY explained all types of haki to us! so there's armament, observation and conquerors, Luffy already has access to the rarest, conquerors so will he master all 3 and become much more powerful!? Now I can truly see why this man was at the top of Rogers pirate crew, he is VERY powerful and especially because he has no devil fruit!!! Luffy will meet Jimbe in 2 years on fishman island!! I can't wait for the Strawhats to meet up again after 2 years! I'll literally cry!!! But what an amazing story though... truly thank you Oda, these first 597 chapters were absolutely perfect in all ways and I can't wait for the second half! ONE PIECE IS AMAZING!!! |
