Hi everyone my name is Adam but you all probably know me better as Adimus_Prime. I am not the best at introductions so I'll keep this short and sweet. I am from the USA and I am 19 years old. I have been using MAL for close to four years (Wow it doesn't feel like it has been that long). I have also been watching anime for about six years now. As far as my education goes I am a high school graduate. How did you choose your username? Well, the story of my username goes like this: I was heavily into Transformers as a kid and my favorite was Optimus Prime as you probably guessed. So when I was about 12 years old it came time for me to make an account for YT so I could comment on videos and subscribe to channels. So I needed a username that I thought sounded cool. So I figured to combine my name with the name of my favorite Transformer. Ever since then the name has just stuck and it is what I go by on pretty much everything I have an account on. NextUniverse: I had thought that maybe your name had something to do with Transformers when I first came across you. Opinions on the live-action movies? Anything you have to say about some animated series if you've seen that as well? Well, actually I like the live-action Transformers films mainly because of nostalgia since they were what got me into TF. They aren't particularly good movies if I look at them without nostalgia glasses but I like them for the most part. Although I will say 4 and 5 kinda suck. They are definitely my least favorite movies out of the franchise with my favorite being 3 as well as the Bumblebee solo movie. As Transformers cartoons go: Transformers Prime is actually my favorite western cartoon of all time. It takes the action-packed nature of the movies and combines with a lot of characteristics of other TF media to make the perfect Transformers show in my opinion. It was also the first time both Peter Cullen and Frank Welker played Optimus and Megatron together in the same show since the original 80s cartoon and hearing those two together is always a treat. Transformers Animated is also a really good show that is very funny and has a really unique take on Optimus Prime with him being more of a rookie than a wise experience dad of the group he is normally portrayed as being. Could you give us the history of your time on MAL? I was introduced to MAL because of a video that Joey (The Anime Man) made called "Roasting My Fans MAL Accounts" or something around those lines. I created my account in late 2018 and was just using it for keeping track of the anime I was watching, completed, and planned to watch like most do when they first start using MAL. I actually didn't start interacting with forums until like 2019. I even remember the first thread I started it was called "Which do prefer Plot Armor or Plot Poison" or something like that. I would continue to post responses in threads and make threads I thought were interesting and still do to this day. (I am not gonna get into the Big Fat Voluptuous Round Anime Tiddies meme yet I have a feeling you are gonna ask me about how that started.) How did you get into anime/manga? Well unlike most people who get into anime I actually didn't watch a lot of anime as a kid. Shows like Pokemon, Yugioh, Naruto, Bleach, etc I never watched as a kid. The only anime I watched as a kid was Dragon Ball Z Kai. Even when anime was starting to get popular when shows like AOT and SAO came out I still didn't watch them for whatever reason. The show that got me into anime was actually Kill la Kill and the story of how that came to be my gateway to anime is pretty interesting actually. So as mentioned before I was really into Transformers as a kid and I watched a lot of videos on YT of people reviewing Transformer figures. So one of the reviewers I watched reviewed a figure of Ryuko from KLK back in 2015 and me being at the time a horny 13-year old I thought "I need to watch this show" XD. So I watched and I fell in love with the story and characters of this show. I then thought maybe it is about time to give more anime a chance because other than DBZ at the time I was basically ignoring anime as a whole and the rest is history. NextUniverse: How the hell did you get by watching Kill la Kill at that age? Does nobody come walking into your room randomly? Especially at that age where privacy is non-existent. Well, I wasn't watching KLK on my TV since I had a tablet. I always have my tablet facing away from my door so that whenever someone walks in no one can see what I am watching and I always wear headphones even when I am alone. Also, I was smart enough to watch it when everyone in the house was already asleep XD. Could you recommend us three of your favorite anime/manga? Well, I don't read manga so I will just give three anime. Code Geass (anime) I don't really feel I could say anything about CG that hasn't been said 1,000 times already. Lelouch is just a fun and charismatic character to watch and seeing his battle to destroy the world and create a new one is just a really compelling story. It also has what I consider to be the greatest ending in all of fiction, not just anime. Wolf Children (anime) I wanted to mention my favorite anime movie. Wolf Children is a film I love because I have always had a soft for stories about good parents. So seeing Hana do whatever she can to be the best mother to her kids just hits all the right boxes for me. Kill la Kill (anime) Of course I can't forget the show that got me into anime. KLK is a show that is just so bombastic and full of energy that I am always hyped while watching it. Also, fun fact it is the anime I have rewatched the most amount of times that being 14. Any users you like/dislike and why? Yeah, I have users that I like. @HoloisHolo is probably my closest friend on MAL. We have talked so much and had plenty of great (and really goddamn stupid XD) conversations over the past few years I have known him for. @_cjessop19_ and @Jeff_Caesar are really great guys and our infamous club wouldn't be where it is today without these two legends @TheFireNinja is probably the nicest person on MAL and I have always liked he refuses to be toxic to anyone even if they are rude to him. Bengofo (now @GoZha) exudes a copious amount of crackhead energy and I love him for it XD. I honestly wish he would make more threads because I think his would be hilarious. Of course, I gotta mention everyone's favorite edgelord @Crow_Black who is also a super nice guy to have some pretty conversations with. I don't really have users I dislike. Moreso I find users just annoying. @Vexem or whatever name he is going by now he changes like every three days is one. When he joined MAL he was just being one of those pricks on MAL who make their hot takes on anime their entire personality and saying that people who liked Edens Zero are monkeys or something like that. It just seemed like he was always trying to piss people off with his takes and that really annoyed me. I can't really think of anyone else now who annoys me but he was probably the most prominent example. Any hobbies outside of anime/manga and MAL? Yes, actually I am a big fan of superheroes. I have watched every MCU film and my favorite characters from the Marvel Universe are Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Venom. I also collect LEGO as it says on my MAL bio most of those LEGO being based on Marvel and DC. I have been collecting LEGO for about 8 years now and I am really proud of my display. I am also a sneakerhead so I buy a lot of sneakers mainly Air Maxes. I currently own 23 pairs of shoes as of now. I watch a lot of YT videos not just anime but many different types of videos. I also like to play video games my favorites being Nier Automata, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and The Danganronpa Series. How do you feel about how the site is run? Especially in regards to the moderators and admins. I don't really have that strong of an opinion on it negative or positive. I think the 30 character limit rule is stupid and I'll be blunt there needs to be more regulating of thread to make sure the same repeats don't keep getting made. However other than it is fine in my eyes. What was your experience like going to Saudi Arabia? From @TheFireNinja Going to Saudi was a great experience. I had heard so much about it from my Dad and various other people in my life. I got to places like the Kaaba which was a very beautiful site, try all types of delicious food, and met a lot of nice people. My Arabic isn't the best but I had people who went with me on that trip who could speak it fluently to play translator for if I didn't understand something someone was saying. How have you been trying to achieve your dream of becoming a voice actor? Such as training and so on. From @TheFireNinja The most I have done thus far is sign up for this website called castingcall.club which is a place you can submit voice demos and audition for roles that people are looking for in certain online projects. Have you developed a certain taste for anime with the amount you have watched over time? From @TheFireNinja If I am being honest no not really. I feel like my taste is super varied. I think my taste in genres has literally no cohesiveness to it. For me, if I like the story, characters, or just find it funny and entertaining I'll probably like it. What was the journey to you becoming and being certified as "The Anime Tiddies Expert?" From @HoloisHolo LOL @HoloisHolo out here asking the heavy-hitting questions as always I see XD. Anyway to answer that question. I had to train my mind in order to recognize a girl based on her tiddies. I did countless hours of "research" which took several hours out of my day. How I knew if I wanted to live up to that title I had to do so. Honestly with enough time, dedication, and horniness anyone can become a "Certified Anime Tiddy Expert" XD. What does Ryuko mean to you? From @HoloisHolo Ryuko is a lot of things to me that's why she's my waifu. I love her brash "talk shit get hit" way she takes on everything, her confidence, and that she has a soft and adorable side under that badass tomboy personality. I think the main reason I love Ryuko other than just her as a character is that looking at her brings me back to the time I first watch KLK which is one of the most fond memories I have of watching anime. Also, she's hot XD. have u ever tried reading or have u ever been interested in reading a manga or r u total munky brained & dont consider reading? From @GoZha I have considered reading manga but it's just that I feel that things like voice acting, animation, and music add a lot to the story that the author is trying to tell. I think I need like a manga that could be my gateway to that part of the anime community. Since I've never gone and read the manga after an anime I like finishes or started any for that matter. In SBR we have the golden ratio. What are your 3 ideal ratios for your waifu? From @_cjessop19_ Honestly, I like waifus of all shapes and sizes so I don't really have a golden ratio. I actually kinda wish anime had more diversity in body types, to be honest. Just for the sake of variety. What are your personal tips for coming up with creating interesting threads? From @Crow_Black I think that the best type I can give for thinking up an original/creative thread topic is just to think of something random that can apply to anime and try to make a question on it. Or another way to make a good one is to think of a question that is asked a lot by the anime community and flip it on its head. For example, I am made a thread about anime that you think would benefit from having more fanservice instead of the done to death anime you wish didn't have fanservice. What do you think MAL can do to promote interesting threads instead of the coomer shit? From @Crow_Black I think the only way to get rid of threads like that is just to report them. Show them that these threads break the rules and nobody wants to participate in them because they are bad and break MAL rules. Also, mods should actually be handing out bans for making threads like this instead of banning people for going past the 30 character limit. What type of threads would you like to see be created in the future? From @Crow_Black I would like more threads about things like voice acting that go beyond the tired old dub vs sub. Also, threads about animation that beyond things like what is the best-animated fight scene. I just want people to use their brains when making a thread. What trope in anime do you think is really overdone to the point it's annoying? From @Crow_Black My least favorite anime trope of all time is that one where a character's backstory gets revealed as or after they died as a last-ditch effort to make me feel sympathy for a character. It's like why I should care about this character's life story after they died. If the writer didn't care enough to develop this character while they were alive then why should I care about them after they have died? This is the main reason Akame ga Kill is my least favorite anime of all time because it abuses this trope. What are your thoughts on manga based on Marvel or DC properties? From @Crow_Black I actually haven't watched any anime based on western comic book characters despite how much I love superheroes. I should probably get around to watching that Iron Man anime since he is my favorite superhero. Outside of Marvel who is your favorite comic book character and it doesn't have to be from DC universe From @Crow_Black I haven't really explored any comic characters from outside of Marvel and DC. So my favorite DC character is Cyborg because he was my favorite Teen Titan and had some of the best moments in the old Titans cartoon. This was a given. Big, Fat, Voluptuous, Round Anime Tiddies. What is the whole lore of the concept? What do you think about where it stands from today? Alright, the moment that everyone has been waiting for where I described the origin story of the meme that became one of the biggest clubs on MAL. To clear up some confusion because some people don't know if I or @_cjessop19_ started it. The simplest way I can put it is that I started the meme but CJ was the one who created the club and asked if I wanted to be an admin alongside him. So basically how I came up with the phrase was that someone's fucking dumb bait thread and I can't remember the contents of that thread but it was so stupid that I thought "I am gonna post something ridiculous in this with no context" I was originally gonna post just "anime tiddies" but then I remembered the stupid ass character limit is a thing so I needed something to push it to 30 characters so I then I tried "Big fat round anime tiddies" which still wasn't enough characters so I then added the word to voluptuous to it make sure I had enough characters XD. I would continue to post it in threads I thought were shit but it didn't really get much attention outside a few confused quote replies. However, one day, @_Nette_ I think the user name is made a thread about AOT being racist or some shit. So then I posted it in that and I also said "Everyone who replies to this thread please copy this". I left MAL for about an hour came back and the thread is filled with people saying big fat voluptuous round anime tiddies and at that moment I was never prouder of this community in my life XD. Then after that AOT Season 4 Part 1 started and everyone who was on MAL forums during that time knows how much of a fuck-fest both the Anime Discussion Board, all the AOT Discussion Boards, and FMAB Discussion Board was during that time. So all this toxic discourse surrounding this made me think I am just gonna shitpost in every dumbass thread about these two shows that I come across. This eventually led to me getting banned because I was spamming which was against MAL rules. However even with me banned the meme still spread like wildfire because of people like CJ, @Scordolo, @Hrybami, Bengofo, @Catalano, etc also posting it in really stupid threads to the point where people who on MAL who never even met me came across the meme. Now it at the point it is where I don't even have to post it since I know in bait thread or thread a really shit take in it because I know there is gonna be at least one person who replies to it and say big fat voluptuous round anime tiddies XD. Then that is when CJ approach with an offer. To make an ecchi MAL club based on the meme. I agreed to it but I'll be honest I thought we would get like 100 members and then the club would just die but boy was I wrong XD. Hell before CJ started the club a few weeks prior that @Scordolo said that I should make a club named after the meme and I said I no because I thought it wouldn't go anywhere. Both of them had more faith in this meme to become something greater than even I did and I am the one who started it. So that is the history of how BFVRAT both the meme and club came to be. This is now apart of my legacy one MAL and I'll wear the title of "The Big Fat Voluptuous Round Anime Tiddies Guy" as a lot of people know me as such with pride XD. NextUniverse: It seems times have changed now from it being a forum meme to an actual ecchi club. Do you think the transition is something you are happy with? Or did you prefer the name to be spammed across multiple dumb threads? Which I don't see a lot of these days, unfortunately :( I would be lying if I said I didn't miss the club's shitposting roots but they aren't entirely gone. Like I said some people still post the phrase in really bad threads. Every now and then we can still get a full thread of people replying to a bait thread with BFVRAT. I would say it has completely died it is just we only do it every once in a blue moon. However, when it does come back it is always a forum event that's for sure. From your time here, what do you think about the MAL forums? Is the quality dying or improving? I think MAL threads right now are in the worst state they have been in since I joined. Tons of repeat threads, taste rankings, threads with awful takes in them more than ever in the last few months. I think the most likely problem to fix is the repeat threads since you could like banned certain words from being in the title so that you can't make another overrated thread but it probably won't happen. It is the main reason I really respect someone like @Fario-P someone just drops banger thread every now and then that I can tell she put a lot of effort into and didn't come up with in 5 seconds. @Crow_Black is also someone who is fed up with the current state up MAL threads as me he also wants to make some good thought-provoking threads and from the ones he made I think he is doing a good job. NextUniverse: What do you think of controversial threads? Popular contenders are "fiction and reality are different", "lolicon" thread, and the likes. They seem to bring in a lot of "conversation" (mostly just people getting at each other's necks), which some may imply as a thread of decent quality for it to draw such attention. I absolutely hate those threads. They are done to death at this point and it is just always a screeching contest between two sides who doesn't want to hear the other's arguments and points. My stance on Lolicon is this: That shit is gross and weird but I would rather a pedo get off to that than with a real child. I'm pretty much in the middle when it comes to the two extremes. So it makes seeing these two sides argue over a topic they see common ground on makes even more annoying. My stance on morally bad things being depicted in anime is this: As long as these themes are being handled with respect you can show them You have pointed out that you are a big fan of superheroes. Do you happen to get into the comics side of the stories that exist there? Do you also invest time in any other superhero franchises, aside from Marvel and DC? I haven't read many comics I have read some like recently I read Spider-Man: The Birth of Venom, The Vengeance of Venom, and Venom: Lethal Protector (I did mention Venom was one of my favorite characters after all XD). However for the most part I do stay movies and cartoons as my way of experiencing these characters. Also, I haven't really looked too much into superheroes outside of Marvel and DC. Like I haven't even watched Invincible even though I want to; I just haven't been in the mood to watch it yet. Which pair of shoes in your collection do you think has the most drip? Do you think your sneakerhead style would ever evolve to full hypebeast? My favorite pair of shoes I own is LEGO theme pair of Adidas Ultraboost since they look super cool and combine my two favorite collecting hobbies together. I can't see myself turning into a full-on Hypebeast because I don't like people just buying shoes and not wearing them. Wear your goddamn shoes, put them to use, flex what you worked hard to get is my mindset when it comes to sneakers. Also, I think most designer brand sneakers and clothes look fucking hideous and I wouldn't wear any of that shit XD. Best LEGO set you currently hold? My favorite LEGO set of all time is The Daily Bugle from Spider-Man. It came out last year and is a massive skyscraper that is 2 1/2 ft tall. It was over 3,700 pieces and it cost me $300. The set took me 12 hours to build and I did it all in one day. Why did you decide to become fluent in Pig Latin? Well, the reason I decided to learn Pig Latin is pretty funny actually. Basically, when I was young my mom and sister would always speak in Pig Latin whenever they were talking about what they didn't want me in their business for. So I basically self-taught myself Pig Latin so that could understand them when they spoke it. So yeah, Iway earnedlay igpay atinlay otay ebay osynay XD. (Translator's Note: I learned Pig Latin to be nosy XD) NextUniverse: Was anything they were talking about come to shock you? Like some kind of hidden secret, you must never know of. To be quite honest to you I don't even remember what they were talking about it was so long ago XD. Was Arabic something that you had to learn later in life or at the early stages? I've heard quite a bit of mixed opinions on the language, what do you think about it as a whole? Well, it's time I explain this on MAL. The reason I have been learning Arabic is that I was born and raised as a Muslim and I still am one. So it has always been a goal of mine to speak Arabic fluently. The language really hard to speak but it is easy to learn how to read. On the topic of me being Muslim, I have actually memorized over 2/3 of the Quran. Which is like over 400 something pages. This is something I never thought I would admit to on MAL since most people know me as "the funny anime tiddies guy" but I do have a religious side to me. Nextuniverse: Yeah, that is kinda a wild connection, nice dedication regardless. Do you have anything to say about r/arabfunny type memes on the topic? Thank you for the compliment. As far as Arab memes go I don't really have anything to say about them since I don't really seek them out. Also, I should probably mention I'm African American and not Arab to clear up any confusion as to what my race might be. What inspired you to pursue being a voice actor? Well, I decided to pursue voice acting because I love it as an art form and I am really good at impressions. I have made a few threads on voice acting here on MAL one where I did show off my impression skills and I got a lot of compliments on them. What do you think about the ecchi community and its place in the anime community as a whole? I think the ecchi community is ironically enough the most wholesome part of the anime community XD. They are very friendly and welcoming. You won't find people having superheated arguments in the ecchi community. Most arguments I have seen are of the waifu war variety and with a few expectations, they are all done in good fun. Do you see yourself leaving MAL in the near future? I can see myself still sticking around MAL even if it is just to talk to the friends I have made here and keep track of the anime I have watched. This place may be an absolute dumpster fire sometimes but it is one of those dumpster fires you can't look away from XD. Is there anything you wish MAL had? I wish MAL had dark mode but that's about it. Is there something unasked that you would like to talk about? No, I think we covered basically everything I wanted to mention in the interview. I can't think of anything left to add. Any feedback on the interview format? I like the interview format being text-based instead of voice chat. With it being done this way I get to think of exactly what I want to say and how want to say instead of being put on the spot. It's a lot easier for people who have trouble talking to those who they have never met before like me. Can you recommend three members who we can choose from to interview next, and briefly explain why you would like to read their interviews?
