why not, let the creative juices flow, I have nothing against fanfiction, some works are really fun to read, good for them.
But I always accept the creator's ending whatever that may be, I hate Death Note's ending, I was frustrated but in the end, that's how the story ended and the defeated lost fair and square (kinda but let's say it was ok).
We all have scenarios in our minds and we would want to change some aspects but that's not what this media is, either you read the work and enjoy it, then criticize it from your POV or you either write your own cool original stories. It's important to differentiate between these two, it's never good to be obsessed about a certain aspect till you completely negate and delete it from your mind

Headcanons are retarded, no matter how hard you try and try and keep trying, the original is still there and no, a character will never have a diferent outcome or characteristics just because you said so in your brain.

Fan fiction is meh, whatever.

Assuming that you differenciate headcanon and theory, I think headcanons are fucking retarded. Fanfictions are fine, granted that the work has sufficient quality.

I usually read fanfics before falling asleep or during mornings when I have nothing important to do and just chilling in bed. Sometimes when I haven't been able to sleep I have spent 4 hours reading a single multichapter fic. So well yeah, some are really well written and creative, most often they're not but good for people to improve writing and language.

Headcanons I have of my own, but I don't really care about sharing them. Characters that I like I'm always interested to hear/see other peoples' hc and understanding of them.

I don't really care for fan fictions. It's not like it's going to change the canon relationships in the anime. But I guess it's fun to think about while the show is airing.

Fan fiction is kinda worthless, because even if reading it is entertaining, it's not recognized as ever having happened which can be disappointing.

My favorite headcanons are the ones related to religion (Such as Asuna being a Christian (Cross-shaped earings in the WN design, saying 'Thank you God' after she found and saved Kirito's life, "Her hands were clasped as if she was praying" on Fairy Dance vol. 2 and lifepast Yuuki's influence on her after the Mother's Rosario) and Edward Elric giving up on being an atheist after being brought down to normal and choosing to move past from his foolish 'we (alchemists) are gods, after this ideology gets him good during some parts of the story.

And fanfictions are cancer because most of the people who write tend to be horny fangirls who lack proper knowledge about life and grammar. Peace.

I think it is a cool way for fans to express their appreciation for a series but I don't read fan fictions often, I'd rather just watch the real thing

You completely misses the point of headcanons.
It meant to be self indulgent only and therefore stayed in the realm of fanon/fanmade only, as in, it will never become canon/original and everyone knows it. That's why it's called headcanons in the first place. That's why so much freedom when it comes to it. Because, no matter what anyone thinks, the canon/original is there and unchangeable unless you are the original author of said original work. That's why fanmade stuff were born. Not to change the original but to indulge oneself in other possible storyline or outcome.

I'm not a fan of headcanons but I read fanfictions every night. Need to have my daily fix of my ships.

Obviously I don't read all fanfics because I do have preferences when it comes to story (unless I'm super starved and the fanfic is scarce lol). And the tagging system really helped finding specific things I want in a story.

All in all, fanfics are great. For someone that gets attached to characters, I can't just "move on" to another new series when it ends. So this is where fanfics come to the rescue. Obviously just like everything else, a lot of them are badly written just from the sheer amount of fans and not everyone is good at writing right? But there are also lots of good ones. You just have to pick the one you like, and drop it if it's bad. Just like anime/manga tbh.

So people who complained fanfics are trash or badly written are laughable, as if all official anime/manga are all good and no bad ones. Not to mention the officially published one already went through some quality check or something, while fanfictions are not. So yeah. It depends on whether you can find a good one or not.

And the enjoyment of fanfic reading also heavily dependent on how much you are attached to the characters currently.
So yeah it's not like I can enjoy all kind of fanfics at all times.
When I'm currently into Aomine x Kise, then reading their fanfics is heavenly. But when I'm currently into another ship, then I won't be able to bring myself to read Aomine x Kise fanfics/won't gain much enjoyment from it.

Fanfics and fanarts are basically the same. Yet people are much more critical towards fanfics.
It's not like all fanarts are good either. And people won't consider fanart/doujins as original right? So, idk why people keep saying things fanfics are pointless/trash bcs it won't change canon/original, like????? Of course it won't????

Nothing wrong with either of them. As long as you aren't overdoing it.

I've tried reading a few fan-fics in the past but never really liked them, the characters tend to behave like completely different people. Nothing wrong with people writing or reading them as long as they don't confuse them with what's canon. Then again seeing how shitty some characters are I'm not in favor of everything that the original author makes canon.

headcanons are funny and good in my opinion. i mean you can extend your fantasy and it's really fun to think of.

problem is many fans are so obdurate with their headcanons and get on other peoples nerves, that they should accept their headcanon, because it's the only right thing.
tis can be reeeeaaaally annoying.

for fanfictions, some are good some are bad.
i have actually no negative opinion about them.

i like reading fanfics especially those that explore aspects not fully explored in canon

i think hcs are ok as long as people don't start forciing headcanons and fanfics in your face when you're not a fan

I have no problem with fan-made content, except for the group that believes Grell is trans and forces that headcanon on others. It's one thing to have a headcanon, and it's fine to have headcanons, but forcing that headcanon on others and attacking the manga artist is just sick.

there are some animes that are still relevant due to hentais and doujins of them. like evangelion, highschool dxd etc

but personally i hate fanfics and headcanons. i like sticking to and believing what the author has intended us to. anything else is blasphemous to the author and their creation. who are you to change a story that was not written by you? be grateful you're even getting to consume it. filthy ungrateful fucks.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.

@lucasgaze I don't think you understand what headcanon actually is. a headcanon is a fan interpretation of a character's actions or certain story elements that are not explicitly confirmed or denied by the author.

@krautnelson

This hate against headcanons, rule 34, fanfics, fanarts, Doujinshis is very strange. Some people simply boil over with hatred when they see fan-created content and think it will 'denigrate' the original.
