Backwards compatibility/hackability/piracy does not count.

Keep handhelds and home consoles seperate.

Nintendo:
SNES = GameCube (can't really decide, because both had great Games I'd spent Hours with)
Game Boy > Game Boy Advance

Windows:
Windows 8.1 > Windows 8 > Windows 7 > Windows 2000 > Windows XP > Windows 10 > Windows 95

Windows 8.1 has all the Features I need + you have still full Control over what you want to update. Windows 7 lacks native USB 3.0. Windows 2000 (Pro) has been much stabler than XP which in Turn is at least not as much of a Spyware/Adware as Windows 10. Windows 95 is the least stable, so I've put it in the last Place.

"If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary; In proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universe will appear less complex, and solitude will not be solitude, nor poverty poverty, nor weakness weakness." - Henry David Thoreau

Never really owned any of the Nintendo or Microsoft consoles or any handhelds. My experience with them are from emulators (except for XBox, obviously). That being said;

Nintendp:
N64 > NES > SNES
DS > GBA > GBC

Sony:
PS2 > PS1

Windows:
7 > XP > 98

Putting all of them together, would go something like:
PS2 > DS > PS1 > N64 > PSP = GBA > NES > SNES > GBC

golden age of mac gaming in the 90s, god I feel sorry for those who never got to play Marathon Infinity or Escape Velocity in the contemporary time and had to wait for ports for so many games. Back then I used my PC way less than my Mac. Shame about Microsoft buying up Bungie and turning the developed-as-Mac-exclusive Halo the Xbox killer app, destroying all our futures.

the only rating chart in this thread that matters tbh
super srs rating :

Ninty
SNES > Gamecube > NES > Wii > Wii U > shit > garbage > N64 > Virtual Boy
NDS > 3DS > GBC > GBA

Sony
PS1 > PS2 > PS3 > PS4
Vita = PSP

Microsoft
Shit > 360 > Garbage > Xbox > XBONE

and I guess I'll rate Microsoft's OSes like the memelords want me to
XP > 7 > 2000 > 8.1 > 95 > MSDOS > ME > 98 > Vista > 8 > 10 (bcuz of their aggressiveness and inconsistent graphic design. also spying. fuk u microsoft stop showin every1 my deviant art you peace of shit)

For some reason my hard drives don't like loading files on 7. Tried drivers but they didn't like it. Been on 8.1 for the last few years, but every time I boot up my XP Virtual Machine I want to live in it. RIP.

The quality of games doesn't have much to do with the console but the developers making the games. If we are talking about the greatest number of good games on a platform it is by far Microsoft Windows. No console can compete with thirty years of good exclusives.

Lol, then why are all my favorite games console exclusives? I don't care for online games, and while there were a small number of decent games back in the MS-DOS era(Scorched Earth, Zeliard), contemporary PC games are mostly of no interest to me at all.

Your taste is irrelevant, I was just pointing out the discussion of rating a console platform based on its exclusives is stupid. The reason been is people have different taste in games like if you enjoy RTS you can only get them on the pc. Likewise, if you like bullet hell shootemups you would have skipped the ps3 and bought a japanese xbox 360. But ps3 had better hardware!, well that is irrelevant when I want to play japanese shootemup games!

Even comparing consoles of the same generation there is no objectively better choice when the games you want to play are locked to that platform. The only thing you can discuss with comparing consoles is the quality of services they provide, the hardware, multi platform support(Nintendo is the worst), etc. Even taking all those factors into account it doesn't really matter.

Also, rating a console by its company is pointless because every new console generation objectively is better than the previous one in terms of performance. I think the Nintendo Switch, for example is a horrible console because its two generations behind other gaming consoles in performance. That is going to piss off the third party AAA devs because that means a ton of time wasted to optimize for crappy hardware making the investment not worth it. When players see how awful the ports are they are just going to buy a different console that is not only cheaper but two generations better than the nintendo switch. The person that wants portability will notice that the switch has 3 hours of battery life, giant thing that doesn't fit in your pocket well and just get the Vita or the 3DS instead. Someone could retort easily say but I want Zelda, but the person could reply I have a Wii U or I don't want a terrible console just for Zelda or maybe I don't like Zelda.

I don't care for RTS games or Bullet Hell. Most people today don't have just one console. There are plenty of people who have all 3 current generation consoles.

As for me, I'm more into older 8/16-bit games that I grew up with, and I only rarely play newer consoles.

The reason we are rating a company's consoles, is because some consoles have better libraries than others. For example, the Super Famicom has far more RPGs than the N64, so for RPG fans, they're more likely to rate the SFC ahead of the N64.

Most people do not own all three consoles in each generation. Consoles are quite expensive when you add up all the hidden costs and subscriptions. Why would you compare different generation consoles to each other, it really says nothing about the consoles themselves but more about the developers. The reason there were not many RPGs on the N64 is because Jrpg devs wanted the cd-rom as their storage medium for the type of games they were making. It was a inevitable thing to happen when they wanted to make their games more cinematic with cutscenes and use real instruments for their music. The n64 was just the beginning of nintendo's stupid decisions of scaring third party devs away. They continued this trend with the mini dvd on the gamecube, motion controls on the wii, and the gimmicky outdated hardware the wii u.

Like it or not, the Wii sold extremely well, better than the PS3 or Xbox 360.

From what I can tell, you hate Nintendo, and love PC games, so I'm not going to waste my time with some kid who shouldn't even be in this thread to begin with.

Criticizing a console is not hating it. The Wii is a one hit wonder where it came out at the right time allowing it to captured a lot of casual gamers to that console. The problem is the casual audience already moved on to mobile phones and other casual gaming platforms as soon as the Wii U came out. The Wii made Nintendo a lot of money but most of the consumers that bought the Wii are low attachment rate consumers and unreliable forms of revenue. I don't hate Nintendo, I have every single one of their consoles.
