| Hahha. Hilarious episode. I've never played MMO's myself... not a fan since they take up way to much time/social life... my lil bro played Warcraft all the time and he used to get excited about "swords" and such. I'm slowly starting to dig this. |

| Starting to warm up to this anime a bit. Liked the MMO jokes, the additions of the teacher/cousin, the pokemon and fsn references, and most importantly as a True DBZ Fan the Cha La Op being sung by Aya at the end. Pretty impressive. Best episode yet 5/5, may boost total score solely due to DBZ Homage. |
| This is probably a fierce necro, but what can I do. I caught the most insanely obscure reference in this episode. When Konata is chatting with her teacher on the MMO they're playing, the in game music is referencing a really niche Japanese MMORPG called Corum Online. I was maybe 1 of 1000 people in the west who played that game xD I actually jumped out of my chair and screamed NO WAY BRO! I loved that game :( Why did it have to go... |

| Wait, Konata and her homeroom teacher play MMOs together? That's really cool and horrifying at the same time. That explains the previous episode lol. And the horrifying part came into play later on when her teacher questioned her about homework lol. Man, Tsukasa is the total opposite of Kagami. I doubt anyone would be able to tell they're sisters if they weren't twins. Konata seems to disapprove of degeneracy at the festival. That's a first. And it's Konata out of all people, the girl who plays dating sims and is (probably) familiar with eroges... That's shocking. Tsukasa's "fact" about Blue Hawaii is actually misleading at best, according to the wikia. Poor girl can't catch a W. Konata's relative is an interesting individual. But who even is she? What's her relationship with her? They seem pretty close. So maybe they're cousins. Depleted uranium? Wtf was Tsukasa talking about. It makes sense that it was a phone call with Konata. She was probably playing Fallout or something. Fate/stay night spotted at 14:33. This show is so full of references to other media that it's crazy. And Mamoru Oshii got reprimanded for putting too many references in Urusei Yatsura back in the 80s by upper management who said his work became meaningless because of them. Poor guy was just ahead of his time. It's a shame cause I don't think he'd make something like Urusei Yatsura or a SOL CGDCT type of show these days. Even if he did, it'd probably feel too outdated compared to other stuff that is newer. Bruh I thought Akira was talking about the former director Yutaka. But apparently it's another character who shows up later. Speaking of directors, this was Yasuhiro Takemoto's first episode. It was pretty good. I think the biggest difference is that the episode doesn't feel disconnected. In the last 4 episodes, there were many scenes that just changed randomly and happened way too fast. But this episode felt more focused. It had two main long segments. The festival part and then the second part with Konata trying to do homework at Kagami's house and then by herself. There were some random scenes sprinkled in. But they didn't feel disruptive. In short, it felt like this episode had a story. In the end, I prefer that over the randomness of previous episodes. It's how I felt about the first 2 episodes of Ichigo Mashimaro OVA too. Konata finally sang a song that I actually recognized. That's the power of Dragon Ball. |
