Damn, I feel sorry for Matsutarou now for real. I've never seen the guy that down before since that 'rejection' by Reiko. Then again, I didn't find his reaction to that to be anything surprising.

It also looks like someone has their eye on Matsutarou but sadly is not Reiko. Tanaka was also awesome this episode :D

I haven't watched this series much but there's only 2 episodes left. I was wondering about how much of the manga did this anime adapt so far?

Very good episode in terms of character growth. Especially for Tanaka actually.

Matsutarou was at his weakest this episode. In a way, this episode was sort of build up since the one where he was defeated by Ino-Kawa where he realized that all he had going for himself was his strength and without that he felt like less of a man and cried.

The one thing about this show that I don't understand why so many people didn't get, is that they aren't praising him for being a jerk, the series and characters know he is a jerk, they know he is a terrible person and a dumb person.

Matsutarou is slowly coming to terms with how horrible he is and in doing so is slowly learning more about responsibility. The final step of course, is his feelings for Reiko. They are right, Reiko is the only thing he was serious about, the entire reason he got into Sumo to begin with was to be with her, to please her, to get her to see him as more than a pathetic jerk. In order to truly become a better person, he has to do things for reasons other than pleasing Reiko. Taking Reiko away will actually make his decisions have more weight to them, because he will be doing them for himself and for the dojo. It won't be to please Reiko anymore, it will be to please himself with himself.

Tanaka of course had great growth this episode. All of the abuse he's taken from Matsutarou throughout this whole show, unleashed in the one speech he shouted out. Once he had the courage to call him out on his bullshit, he became a much more confident and serious person. As I said on an earlier episode, they oddly enough bring out the best in each other, Matsutarou pushes Tanaka to be more outgoing and courageous while Tanaka pushes Matsutarou to get over himself and try to be a better person.

That was a very good episode. Loved Tanaka's shoutout towards Matsutarou.

I wonder how they're going to end the series now that there's (apparently?) only 2 episodes left.

Boooo, huuu, huuu Matsutarou's wailing is music to my ears.

Looks like Reiko does have some degree of feelings for Matsutarou after all, stupid girl.

If Matsutarou and Reiko end up together I'll need to punch something repeatedly...
