There is also the legend of Manxmouse which appears to have a very Winnie the Pooh feel to it. (Isle of Man) now bringing the UK anime total to 33.

AurafullAlex | Jun 13, 2019 3:30 PM
Oh boy do you have so many tittles comming from the UAE, Italy, Singapore, Germany, and the UK

First the 1 set in the UAE
Pokémon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages Dubai, UAE (the United Arab Emirates)

Italy:
Pokemon Heros the either 4th or 5th movie which ever 1 again is undeniably set very accurately in Venice

Next the 5 set in Singapore (1 also in America):
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders
Coyboybeebop a very popular classic was mostly based in America but was also based in Singapore which is literally just called just that due to being a very small country.
Cardfight!! Vanguard
Zetsuen no Tempest
The Popular Plastic Memorys anime was entirely set in Singapore by Doga Kobo. (the studio behind Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, Gamers! and Himouto).
Zetsuen no Tempest

The country is germany:
Attack of titan (seriously how can you miss this 1)?
Princess Tutu
Is the order of the rabbit?
Konosuberashi Gods blessing on this wonderful world
All of these animes were most likely based in the german town of Nordlingen which you can view here as it is worth the look! https://holidaybays.com/3-real-places-that-resemble-attack-on-titan-shingeki-no-kyojin/

Now finally the UK and oh boy is there alot!

Princess Sara, 1995, Nippon animation (London)
Dective Conan Movie 6 phanton of Baker street, 1996, TMS entertainment (London)
Agatha Christie's Great Detectives Poirot and Marple, 2004, OLM (London)
A certain magical index 2008, JC staff (London)
The K on! movie, 2011, Kyoto animation (London)
Jojos Bizar adventure, 2012, David production (London and apparently Liverpool)
Kiniro Mosaic, 2013, Studio Gokumi (Cirencester)
Unbreakable machine doll, 2013 Lerche (Liverpool)
Fate unlimited Blade words, 2014, Ufotable (Galstonbury)
Code:Realize Guardian of Rebirth, 2017, MSC (London)
The ancient magnus bride, 2017, 2017 Wit studio (London)
Revue Starlight 2018, Kinema Citrus (London)
and the seven deadly sins (Britannia)

This now brings the UK's total of (different) Uk based animes to 32 beating the US's total by 3 as of this post Go UK! (hello from the UK btw so no hard feelings to all Americans lol)!

Also the reason I know this many is due to me also starting thread although this 1 being only on the UK animes, hence my nationality.
Also just to let you know that Little Witch Academia as numerous things (I think magical places if I remember correctly) diagonally line up with the areas of the south west region and the town in the anime is Glastonbury (known for holding a large over amillion strong music festival on a large farm over the years.
Location comparison here of the town animated https://www.ilivehere.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Living-in-Glastonbury-e1499070592454.jpg and the real 1 except facing the other way but still clear and comparable https://www.ilivehere.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Living-in-Glastonbury-e1499070592454.jpg as I am struggling to find the exact fame to fame comparison due to a blog site failing being cut off through the internet for some reason. Oh and the local abbey of Glastonbury can also be found here as well and in this comparison! https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/001/235/613/c50.jpg

So don't to you to add all these animes asap! =D (From the UK).

KyokoBestMeguca | Jun 10, 2019 10:21 AM
Should add JoJo Part 5 to Italy.

Unowen | Jun 8, 2019 11:43 AM
So Ra No Wo To is listed as Switzerland but most of its setting is based in the Spanish town of Cuenca.

Side by side comparisons:
Example 1: http://assets.fancueva.com/2010/02/soranowoto1.jpg
Example 2: http://assets.fancueva.com/2010/02/soranowoto3.jpg
Example 3: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-l0UEG1Mwfuo/VY9mVN6yyrI/AAAAAAAAFgQ/niYx4HQZfe4/s1600/sora_no_woto%2B5.jpg

But yeah the actual things in town are written in French, not Spanish, and the series never clearly states where they're located, so it's more like a fictional setting based on Spain.

Catalano | Jun 7, 2019 3:19 PM
I think Mutafukaz happens in USA, the city the characters live may be a fictional slum though. I saw the movie.

Idiysar_Almond | Apr 6, 2019 7:10 AM
@Aemnesias
Saint Seiya isn't mostly in Greece, it's only Gold Saints arc (which is about 1/4-1/3 of the series) and some silver saints arc that takes place there. Other arcs takes place in Japan, Nordic countries (i dunno where exactly God Warrior arcs take place, if i have to assume: Norway), and undersea. But if we're talking about Saint Seiya Hades Chapter Sanctuary OVA the that would be mostly in Greece, and also that 3DCG movie Saint Seiya Sanctuary.

BananiSandwich | Mar 23, 2019 7:04 AM
Can Banana Fish be added? It takes place in the US

Titadou | Jan 16, 2019 2:28 AM
Well I'm watching Hakushaku to Yousei and I can say with certitude than the story takes place in London for the majority of the story, and not Scotland since they left it with the boat in the episode 1....
Kelpie was trying to bring her back in Scotland when he came to London.

ScarletCelestial | Jan 3, 2019 9:00 AM
Also didn't see Higashi no Eden Movie I: The King of Eden
which takes place in the USA.

ScarletCelestial | Jan 3, 2019 8:55 AM
Also I agree with Aemnisias Saint Seiya starts in Greece.

ScarletCelestial | Dec 31, 2018 7:31 AM
Shikioriori takes place in China according to its synopsis.

rahillimitci | Nov 28, 2018 5:03 PM
Pretty sure Saint Seiya is set mostly in Greece, but I could be wrong.

SleepingBear | Nov 22, 2018 8:10 AM
Sorry for the rather long break in updates, I've added most of the suggestions commented now. I'll try to look into Fate/Apocrypha's setting more at some point, and Sora yori mo Tooi Basho's fate lies in where most of it's episodes are set. I didn't include Garo: Vanishing Line since I couldn't find information that indicated that it was set in the US. From what I've seen Nanatsu no Taizai only takes geography and some names from real life, and bears no other resemblance to our real world, so I didn't include it. It's the same reason I don't have Akatsuki no Yona under Korea. Finally, I'm not in charge of the Anime Watching Challenge in any way, and don't have official say on what is eligible or not. Thanks for the suggestions, as always!

animefun1995 | Nov 1, 2018 5:43 PM
can i use this for 61)Watch an anime that mainly takes places outside of Japan, but still on Earth https://myanimelist.net/anime/37364/Kekkai_Sensen___Beyond_OVA

Does Sora yori mo Tooi Basho count for Antarctica?

halom | May 27, 2018 11:21 PM
Nanatsu no Taizai is set in England.

ScarletCelestial | Apr 7, 2018 5:45 AM
Lupin III: Part V is set in France.

Jhiday | Mar 24, 2018 1:31 AM
After a careful watch, it turns out that at least half the episodes of Noir explicitly take place in France (and the others are peppered with flashbacks to That One Scene In Corsica, which adds to the total for quite a bit).

irmagzz | Mar 11, 2018 2:05 PM
Hi, I think Garo: Vanishing Line is set in the US

chocolateparody | Feb 25, 2018 12:05 PM
Hello I was wondering if Fate/Apocrypha would count even if it's a fantasy setting. It's set in Europe with most episodes based in (a fictitious city in) Romania.
It's not mentioned in the MAL synopsis but I think this should give the needed information.
Thank you for your list making!

Zangril | Feb 23, 2018 2:47 AM
Yugo The Negotiator

It's has two arcs in different places. One takes place in Russia and the other takes place in Pakistan.

KasietheMighty | Feb 15, 2018 10:01 PM
https://myanimelist.net/anime/326 - Pet Shop of Horrors. It's stated as Chinatown, and many factors within the anime itself implies it's a Chinatown within the United States. (i.e. Washington Convention being mentioned, the President of the USA even has an episode revolving around him)

SleepingBear | Jan 31, 2018 4:08 AM
@SheyCroix I wanted to avoid having several small categories, but I guess it'll be easier to find this way. Made a Central America category.

@Brimmy21 I've been waiting for more info on that, actually. If the majority of the show takes place on Antarctica I'll include it there. If they spend most of the show on the ship I'll place it in the sea category.

@ReisukaAi Maybe, but it seems to be too speculative for me to include as of now.

ReisukaAi | Jan 27, 2018 7:15 PM
I'm not sure if it was ever confirmed but most agree AoT is set in Germany

Brimmy21 | Jan 21, 2018 5:42 AM
Is https://myanimelist.net/anime/35839/Sora_yori_mo_Tooi_Basho eligible since they go to Antarctica? Or does it have to be a populated Country/Continent?

SheyCroix | Jan 20, 2018 4:47 PM
I think you should move Nicaragua from North America to Central America.... thanks for the hard work~

SleepingBear | Jan 15, 2018 1:22 PM
Thank you for the suggestions everyone, and sorry for the late response. There are a few I'm still unsure about and a couple that already were on the list, but I've added the rest to it.

Gekkouta | Jan 12, 2018 9:48 PM
Can https://myanimelist.net/anime/666/JoJo_no_Kimyou_na_Bouken be added?
The majority of it takes place in Egypt, just the same as Stardust Crusaders 2nd Season does, which is listed here. They're just different adaptations of the same source story, after all.
In the same vein, https://myanimelist.net/anime/14719/JoJo_no_Kimyou_na_Bouken_TV takes place in England (first half of the story), and primarily Italy in the second half.

Ankithadam | Jan 12, 2018 2:43 AM
Hi, Can this movie Tezuka Osamu no Buddha: Akai Sabaku yo! Utsukushiku come under anime which outside japan?

and also Canaan?

Rarity | Jan 6, 2018 6:36 AM
Code:Realize and Mahoutsukai no Yome are set in England.
Akatsuki no Yona seems to be set in Fantasy Korea but YMMV, same goes for Arslan Senki which is set in Fantasy Persia, not sure if that's enough to qualify those two.

Vladadamm | Jan 5, 2018 7:31 AM
