One piece is far from perfect, its so far from it in fact that it's stupid. The constant reliance on outrageous and almost insulting coincidence and convenience is infuriating, I'd genuinely make an argument that OP is one of the, if not THE most formulaic show of all time, the similarities in the structure OF EVERY SINGLE ARC are JUST ALWAYS THE EXACT SAME, certain characters remain stagnant for the entire series, and even when they DO express some level of change to their characters, ITS ALWAYS THE EXACT SAME (Learning to ask your friends for help and learning to live for yourself). The pacing at points is tragic, and moves at a genuine snail pace. Punk Hazard exists. It takes a good hundred+ episodes for any real level of quality time skip.

But, despite it's glaring issues, what one piece does well, It does incomparably brilliant. The one word that I come back to when thinking about this show is "Charm". Everything about one piece is just so unique and incomparable to anything else I have ever seen, and it all comes back to this single, unique, one of a kind charm and feeling that one piece radiates. No series or piece of fiction quite captures the sense of adventure and exploration anywhere near to the level of one piece. The world of one piece is full to the brim of life and mystique and adventure, you feel apart of the crew as you explore each new island and civilisation as you surf along among the clouds and waves alike. There is no such thing as Outlandish or too stupid for one piece, and everything just perfectly works together and accumulates into the best world ever established in animanga.

This incredible world perfectly feeds into One Piece's greatest strength (only slightly better than it's world), It's story telling. The fantastical and unique one of a kind world that you explore with the crew is only emphasised and brought to life by the history of each island, the ideas and mysteries established that can be left untouched for 100s of episodes before bringing them back to explore and tie into multiple different story threads. There are so many mysteries in the world that you can't help but want to learn about. The history of each island is always done in great detail and always tie in heavily to what is happening in the present, and is always one of the most interesting parts of each arc. The story of how each island and civilisation is exploited and brought to ruin under the main antagonist of the arc are always tragic and always build the antagonists up into incredible villains who you can't help but root against (except fishman island lmao). The story always flows beautifully from one place to the next, arc to arc, story beat to story beat equating to the show being ridiculously digestible. The constant call backs and bringing back previous characters and stories is done magnificently, it just adds further value to everything you've previously experienced knowing they weren't forgotten and are still playing an active role in the story. There is no doubt that Luffy's journey to becoming the Pirate King is the greatest tale in fiction.

It's characters are so lovable and charming, and I wouldn't opt to having any of them removed. Although I certainly wish there was more substance behind them, they are all so lovable and add to the overall charm of the straw hats. Water 7 Franky is one of my favorite characters in the whole show, ennies lobby robin is one of my favorite in shonen (too bad she becomes THE GAG CHARACTER IN POST TIME SKIP WTF??), Sanji has always been one of my favorite ever characters since a kid and has my personal coldest moments in the show, Nami is always lovable and one of the funniest characters in the series and probably the only good part of the first 100 episodes. I love brook and his stupid fucking jokes. Luffy is pretty self explanatory. The show has some of the best antagonists ever imo, crocodile and doflamingo are just incredible villains, while the admirals are super interesting and show the heights in which luffy and the straw hats must reach.

The art style is so unique and charming, the character designs are the most unique out there yet just work, the OST is second to none and perfectly encapsulates the vibe and feel of the show and the individual character themes perfectly represent their characters. The animation Ennies lobby and beyond is good but not ground breaking, but ABSOLUTELY has its moments of being world class. WANO IS THE GREATEST LOOKING ARC OF ANYTHING EVER. The openings are certified bangers.

Overall, One piece tells the best tale in fiction and captures the essence of adventure like none else as you explore one of the greatest worlds to ever grace our screens, with a lovable and charming (yet flawed) cast. One piece is the only series ever that could be 1000+ episodes long, and leave you wanting more. A series like none else, and a show I can't wait to follow for a few more years until this grand tale finally concludes. The only thing that could stifle my love for the series if it doesn't receive the conclusion it so desperately deserves, and delivers on all the mystery and interesting ideas in which it so elegantly set up. But for now, all I can say is that there is no series more lovable than One Piece.

BUT to be fair thoooo...the anime adaptation was pretty phenomenal the music the animation the voice acting performances all really elevated the manga experience, to the point i can say i actually quite enjoyed this section a lot more than in the manga . Also, my expectations were far more riled in, while reading the manga i was sold on the dream of a cool twist by a certain black lagoon lover so was dissapointed when the story and characters were as mid as mid gets (+the issues i had with the second half) but as i knew what was coming i just accepted it for what it was and was able to just enjoy it for what it was. So yh, not bad, pretty fun and cute, really well adapted and yh, cool.

Very AOT like- but with big spider robots and best girl of 2021 (Excluding Emilia, dont get silly).
Great interpretation of the Us and Them divide, super interesting to watch.
Wow they kill off people easily.
Shin is so cool man, what a goat.

The season also vastly improves itself with it's characters and representation of characters. Shin's identity as the Shinigami is analysed to its max and shows how the path of the survivor is a lonely one. Lena is shown to be true to her convictions made in season 1 mostly of screen making progress, which is a shame as she's one of my favourite characters, but I'm happy it did so as giving the 86 and the world the centre stage to develop was evidently the correct move.

Episode 11 is a genuine masterclass of an episode. Coming off the hype of episode 10 I was sure that I couldn't see a better 86 episode yet it blew it out of the water. The symbolism of the war machine separating the 86 and Republican, Lena's speech being silent and translated through the mech were my personal favourites, but the flowers turning from a dark blue to a vibrant red and Shin speaking through the mic of the mech + Lena outgoingly introducing herself while Shin hides behind his mask as the soldier/Shinigami reflecting season one are also great moments of symbolism. This is also the ep Where shin becomes an all time classic character study as his role to remember the dead and carry their spirits is scrutinised and analysed deeply. Everything about this episode was fantastic and certainly one of my all time favourite episodes of anime period.
The OST by Sawano is, shock horror, a banger. Kyokaisen is one of the best openings of all time. Avid is one of the best endings/OSTs of all time. Alchemilla is also a banger ending. The animation is very good and the CGI is by far some of the best in anime. The character designs are great still.

In conclusion, 86 season 2 delivers on anything and everything that an anime fan could have wished for after finishing season 1. After season 1 introduces the great characters, fantastic world and main themes of the anime, season two adds the substance. We see the true danger and effects of the world/war that they live in. Death is ever present and we see characters get killed off like it's noooothing. We see some amazing action, receive one of the best episodes in anime with an amazing fight and analysis of Shin's character, which is promptly followed by one my favourite episode of anime ever (the 3 1/2 months were worth the wait) with a conclusion to the season with at least for me One of the most anticipated events in anime ( "Hello, Handler One" ). An all time classic and will forever be one of my favourites. For the first time in history, I'll put my differences aside and say "well done A-1, something you made slapped". Although I certainly enjoyed my time watching this show, and it has its moments that I think there is a potential for an interesting story and perspective on a romance to be told, It ultimately fails, yet I cant help but feel like it was the adaptation's fault.
I haven't read the light novel, but you can just feel that the direction was wrong. There are countless scenes where Adachi develops her feelings, or wants to expand on her and Shimamura's relationship etc, yet instead of focusing on the intent behind the actions, they try to make these scenes more comedic than serious with that almost idiotic and clown like OST that kicks in, while trying to represent Adachi almost like a jester or gag character. I think that the adaptation just couldn't comprehend why these things were happening- the show for the most part comes across more like a comedy than anything.
I liked how shimamura's perspective on life changed over the show, with her isolated world becoming more colourful and adachi's presence increasing, showing the effect that they have had on one another.
I actually quite like both of the leads, although I can't help but feel like they were wasted in this. They feel relatively lifeless, their romance is presented more as a comedic prop than anything, and most importantly they just don't go anywhere.
Maybe the biggest problem with this show overall is how empty it feels. It truly feels like nothing happened. The romance aspect doesn't really feel expanded upon or like it really goes anywhere. Perhaps a 24 episode season would have been more appropriate so that the love rival could have been expanded upon, the romance could further develop and something might have happened lmao.

I loved everything about it growing up, but as I grew more than 2 brain cells I came to a startling realisation:
1. An ending that comes out of nowhere does not necessarily make it a good one
2. Characters don't have to die to leave an impact
3.Peak openings don't make an anime peak (Black clover shaking in its boots)
4. The fights suck
5. Mine is not peak girl (I liked her way too much growing up lol)
6.This is not deep, it's just badly written so there is no meaning, not that a meaning is so deep I couldn't recognise it. The ending and bloodshed is not deep, it's just a poor attempt at shock value.

Overall, peak starter anime. Enjoyable, trashy, laughable at points but definition of gets the job done. Certainly not good, but my original love for the show means I can't say its bad

VOLUME 8 DROPPED WOOOO NEED TO READ ASAP

I love this series too much

Perhaps one of my favourite premise in anime. The true statement behind why I am able to rewatch this and have a completely new interpretation (while also highlighting the issues with the show) is because I was distracted. The stupid gun fights and conflict with “Angel” bogged down my first two viewings. It never let me truly like the series or enjoy it because they go back to the stupid fights etc a lot. This time, however, I told myself that I was going to strictly focus on the character and drama and it’s so much better. The emotional scenes hit, the drama of watching each character find peace is heartwarming and emotional and MOST SURPRISING OF THEM ALL, I enjoyed the characters and the show as a whole a lot more than I did originally. Yui was less annoying, yuihime felt like less of a haruhi clone and more like a genuine character etc. The ending episode is probably one of the best conclusions (very your name except you care more for the characters and it’s more heartwarming in the post credit scene) and the final conversation between Kanaede and Yuzuuru is actually very emotional and sentimental.
I can honestly say I loved watching Angel Beats which can only be credited to MY CONVICTION TO GIVING THIS SHOW SO MANY CHANCES AFTER THE BORING AF 2 EPISODES. The opening and ending are fantastic. The OST is also extremely good.

However, the jokes rarely land and very much reflect the 2010 comedy of the time. Again the fights and guns etc etc are just so uneeded. The reason I enjoyed this viewing so much more than originally is because I was strictly focusing on the characters and drama rather than the show as a whole. Honestly the show would be better without the stupid conflicts etc, it’s hood at landing emotional scenes and character interactions but doesn’t do it enough to give way for these relatively pointless conflicts. The first two episodes are insanely boring and uneventful, and both of the previous viewings put me to sleep.

That said, I loved watching it this time round and feel I finally understand the appreciation the show gets. I like the characters, I like the drama, the “obliterate” scenes are beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed the watch. I can finally say, after trying for two and a half fucking years, “I Love Angel Beats”

Character designs and the changing costume designs are great.
I like the main cast. I think it's an interesting, despite not being exceptionally original.However, i think they're enjoyable to watch and are fun enough to watch to pass an 7.
The animation is very underrated, it looks great but iv'e never heard anyone talk about it.
Menma is menma :) and the relationship with Jintan is very entertaining to watch.

The two standouts about this show was the music and the ending. Has potentially my SINGLE favorite OST in anime, I've listened to this song for nearly 2 years straight now and it's great, it's so emotional and unironically puts me in my feels every time. Fun story, i was walking home after an awful English lesson (long story) and i was extremely angry and emotional and was ready to kill someone, but this song came on and i just cried and sorted myself out. You probably don't care but yeah this song means a lot to me. It's used exactly when it should be to make it's emotional beats hit, just incredible.

The ending...;(
That is the most happy sad moment you will ever see, very reminiscent to the emotions and sentiments that get thrown around at a funeral but the show puts a happy twist on it to really send off Menma the way she'd want to, with her friends and her finishing a game they were never able to finish as children. I have to this day only ever cried one time more than i did after watching this, just an incredibly well written and produced ending. THIS STARTED THE ETHAN CRIES AT STUFF DEVELOPMENT ARC. I had never cried at any media other than Clannad a solid 6~ish years before and never cried in between. This OPENED THOSE FLOODGATES.

Great experience, very positive watch, not incredibly original or different but solid characters, good animation, entertaining watch, GREAT OST and an UNFORGETTABLE ENDING... Can easily recommend in the future.

Because characters who are introduced, created and designed to strictly bring in money by having players pull for them because they enjoy their character design or character niche have NO substance or character.

The world, setting and lore of arknights isn't utilised anywhere near enough because although it is somewhat done in depth in game (Although i found no personal interest in it, and it is hardly built upon in the show), it doesn't take enough of the limelight to flesh out due to whatever the whole "We have to help the catgirl person uwu" arc.

I was genuinely interested to see how they were going to interpret Doctor into the show, and the approach they went with was bold by having a character who is completely silent in the game/a self insert for the player implemented directly into the show, a bold an admirable approach. Too bad they failed completely. You cant give him too much dialogue or screen time because it goes against the character from the game, he cant develop or change because this is the starting point of the doctor story in the overall game story so he cant go anywhere as a character, he can't take an actions to step on the toes of Amiya. I think this might be the worst Protagonist or Male lead in anime history because I've never seen a character ever created to literally be a rubber bullet, dead from the outset, pointless. He doesn't speak, he doesn't take action, he cant change, he does NOTHING. I am genuinely speechless with how terrible this character is.

The production is genuinely not bad, the ost is pretty fine, the animation is okay. The opening just kinda sucks and the ending is just really boring but thats just imo.

Look, a certain level of this show's failure can definitely be tabled at the quality of it's competition. Coming out just over 2 months after cyberpunk was always gonna make the video game adaptation comparison a thing, and they're just so far apart that it's not even worth highlighting the differences, but I will highlight why two shows with similar run time are so far apart in quality despite both having the same strong suit (even tho its kinda peak and bullying but i really want to nail home why this show sucks lel). Edgerunners presents its world perfectly. By introducing a new cast it is not limited by the source material, while offering a new perspective to the world. It is able to expand on ideas and lore mentioned in the game in more depth (adam smasher) to further develop the world etc etc. Theres a million more ways I could explain how edgerunners perfectly builds and presents night city, but the point of the matter is everything comes back to the purpose of the anime being to expand on the games world, develop and expand it, give it more life and most importantly make you want to experience the world more by playing the game....ARKNIGHTS ADAPTATION QUITE LITERALLY JUST SHOWS THE CHARACTERS. You get two exposition dumps of world lore and info; one explaining the virus etc and the other the reunions and their "motivations" AND THAT IS IT. THE WORLD IS SO LIFELESS! THIS WORLD IS SUPPOSED TO BE DANGEROUS, FULL OF RESENTMENT AND WAR AND CONFLICT AND RACISM AND ETC ETC BUT THE ONLY FEELING YOU GET IS WOOWZERZ THOSE REUNIONS SURE ARE DASTARDLY EVIL BECAUSE INFECTED BAD OR SOMETHING LEL XD ROFL LMAO

It's so poorly written and directed, they well and truly just wanted to fit in as many of their waifu fodder as humanly possible and that is all, and if you infer they did anything else you are frankly either deluded, addicted to the game or agney asokan (he's just a contrarian, thats all). A glorified advertisement for their up-rate banners, which is well in their rights to produce and im sure some arknight fans would enjoy, but sadly, i'm not here to gawk at my 4* unit leaning on a rail for two frames in the background, but to watch and evaluate this piece of media, and i truly don't think there is a single positive to be taken away from the show, and unfortunately ends up being one of the most boring, substanceless, lifeless, and quite honestly, CRINGIEST WATCHES OF MY LIFE.

Astounding

Incredibly unique and enveloping story telling, being out of chronological order and switching between so many different character arcs and plot lines freely, so that by the end you have the conclusion of so many different characters and stories in the same final episode despite all taking place in different parts of the same story. Incredibly well written and well presented/told story.

While only a few out of the many main characters actually express any level of character development ( and simple development at that ), every character is so individually charming in their own ways and so lovable that even them taking these simple developments and steps are significantly elevated by your own personal love for the characters. They are written to be as charming as possible in each of their own unique ways that by the end you have this, While not complex, complete, diverse and strong cast. Super fun, entertaining and lovable cast. Personal favourites are Firo, Ennis, Ladd, Chane and Vino but Isaac and Miria are fucking golden. They present so much entertainment factor and enjoyment on their own its ridiculous, one of the funnest duos to grace the medium. Fantastic.

The music in this show is outrageously good and emphasises why the show is so much fun. The opening is super unique and different compared to other openings, and is super upbeat, fun and memorable. The OST is similar to the opening in style, carrying that swagger and upbeat vibe throughout the entire show. It elevates the fun factor ten fold, while also offering such intense and enthralling tracks to complement whatever is happening on the screen. Be it a shootout ontop of a train fighting a monster, to watching a mans face get grinded between the ground and a moving train, or for some of the most entertaining and light hearted comedy and dialogue in anime, the OST also complements it perfectly. Incredible music and backing track.

I also really like the art style. The backgrounds completely capture the essence of 1980 america, while the character designs are also memorable. Fantastic job for an anime that aired back in 2007. Really good.

In conclusion, understandably a classic of the medium. One of the most fun and out there experiences you can consume in anime, carries so much charm, super lovable, one of the funnest casts in animanga. Just genuinely amazing.

One of my most favourite watches of all time, i watched it in 4 1/2 days. I loved it. It's not good in most areas, but as soon as op 1 plays, the screen goes black and white, asta pulls that sword out, you are on the hype train, he screams MADAAAA MADAAAAA, SO YOU SCREAM "MAAAADAAA MADDDAAAAAA, SIONARA VIETOOOOOO" AND YOU THROW YOUR HANDS LIKE YOURE SWINGING THE SWORD BECAUSE ITS JUST SO FKN HYPE ...and by the end you've rated it an 8.8...The Shonen effect, everybody.

Blue period is a story of an art student who turns his back on the expectations set upon him, turns his back on the future he has set up in front of him and decides to find his own way in life, by exploring his emotions and his desires through art. He is constantly behind the rest of the competitive student base in art, and his journey is inspirational in the very least. As someone who many moon's ago had an extreme love of art, I enjoyed watching the processes of him making the pieces and him imprinting his own meaning on his art. It was very nostalgic, watching him go through school learning to draw through a simple desire of WANTING to draw, something a past self of mine could sympathise with very much. In this regard, I think Blue period is extremely successful as it instantly establishes a very relatable and engrossing journey about chasing your dreams, not going with what others dictate to you as your life and future.
I enjoy the character designs, I can't go out of my way to say they're unique, but certainly different compared to most. I enjoyed the OST, it elevated the tension or emotion that it was pushing during that current scene. Simple, but effective. I think the animation has some very clean moments, abut 90% of the time is fine.
However, one issue with Blue period is that some of the character interactions, conversations and dialogues are boring, uninspiring and extremely uneventful. Too average to be challenging for a higher 7 or 8 rating.
Secondly, the show is in some DIRE need of that one, Marquee, memorable scene that you remember and think "that's blue period". It's an anime that is coming into the drama genre and needs that scene or wow factor of a scene to push this up past shows that in some elements blue period is better in.
Overall, a good watch, vividly looking forward to season 2 and will remain enveloped in the character development of Yaguichi.

"an ending doesn't make or break an anime"
A line 99% of anime fans have said in their life time's, yet there is the resounding hate for erased as a result of it's ending. It's seen as an original premise that was tainted by an awful ending. Certainly, the ending is poor, yet it is not as black and white as "the ending ruined the anime" as MANY like to say.
The journey with our protagonist is both enjoyable and interesting, and I can't help but back him as a viewer. He is not out of this world, but as a protagonist does his job well and watching him try to fight fate as he sees it, we all cheer him on. Watching Kayo's abuse is unironically heart breaking. Watching her eat scraps of food, hardly getting by was an extremely emotional scene for me. The main two characters are good, and the supporting cast is unmemorable, but acceptable. Not bad, but nothing special.
In my opinion, the worst aspect of erased is by far it's mystery. Who else could the murderer be? They literally introduce no other characters for us to even have a red herring, and in fairness even if there were 99 other suspects he is so unbelievably predictably the killer it wouldn't matter.
The Ending is poorly executed. It is clearly trying to push the "time does not wait for anyone" theme, but falls flat on it's face, It's fine trying to push a darker conclusion but delivering a boring and uneventful conclusion to a murder mystery is inevitably gonna drop you points.
The opening absolutely slaps, is an all time classic and introduced me to the works of an all time Ethan classic, Asian Kung Fu Generation
Overall, the ending is poor, yet not the worst part of the show. Secondly, the mystery is weak , but average overall (that's the quality of it's competition). Thirdly, it was incredibly interesting and entertaining for the first 9 episodes, I was incredibly invested and loved it. Unfortunately, my hope for a twist never came, the execution of the ending was poor and as a mystery it is average at best. However, it does not take away from my overall enjoyment of the series.

I never thought i could see a show get carried by it's OST anywhere as hard as Guilty Crown etc... But if you take away You Say Run, what's left? It's not forgettable per say, but i wish it was. Everything is sub par fights, boring characters, baby dialogue. made me feel like i was back in nursery. Also, they took a genuinely interesting world and made it all smiles and rainbows.

Best season of my hero academia without doubt. First half, a very good tournament arc with a genuinely great fight between deku and todoroki
Second half, By far the best villain in my hero with genuine backstory and substance to them. An okay fight as well
Unironically an average show, which is good for MHA. Characters sucked a little less than usual. Not bad. Can honestly say this was better than the manga.

An open question to ANYONE who watched this season; What was the villain's name? Without googling it, what was his name? What was his backstory? Who was he? They built this ENTIRE season around the most BORING. GENERIC. AVERAGE. FORGETTABLE VILLAIN IN THE SERIES. If it wasn't for his decent character design, I would have honestly forgot about his whole existence. No great fights to talk about.
The ONLY things keeping this season up a bit was
A) Might+U is an absolute banger, only time a bit of life was breathed through this season
B) Kirishima Development is decent
C) lemillion (Cant remeber his name and cba to check) Was an okay addition to the cast i guess?
D) Deju v Overhaul was a great moment

Second half: Congratulations! You literally crippled the most anticipated arc of My hero and a fan favourite arc and have even turned you're own fans against you.
1) Fights were awfully adapted
2) Shigaraki felt like a cardboard cut out compared to in the manga, carried none of the tension and menace. Homie becomes a literal global threat and the anime makes him seem like a lost toddler with doodlebobs eraser.
3) YOU WENT FROM DOING ADAPTING 2-3 CHAPTERS PER EP IN THE TRAINING ARC TO 5-6 IN THE VILLAIN ARC IN A SPAN OF 5 EPISODES. SWAP THEM!!!!! NO ONE WANTED THE TRAINING ARC ANYWAY- NO ONE LIKES IT- ITS BORING....SO WHY LIMIT THE BEST PART OF MHA TO THIS POINT BY TRYING TO SQUEEZE IN SO MUUUUUCH NARRATIVE, PLOT, DEVELOPMENT INTO 5 EPS. GIVE YOURSELF TIME TO PROPERLY ADAPT IT.

The most dissapointing season of MHA period. The other season were bad, but not only was the first half the most uneventful, boring and worst part of MHA, it's second half had AMAZING potential. In the manga, I'd say the villain arc was an 8/10. In the anime, its an easy 4 or 5/10. Why would you rush the selling point of the season, and flesh out the fodder????? Incredibly sad. Leaves me terrified of what's to come in the BIG SEASON of MHA, its peak. I AM SCARED.

I watched this entire show to say that.
You know what Im just gonna leave the notes at that, it somes the show up pretty well all around.

Fine ill talk about it, lets do compliments; it has one of the stories of all time, but a story none the less, it has action probably (idk i was asleep) and it does in fact have characters, so it is automatically better than cheat skill for these reasons.

Alright onto the negatives; Its ass. Literally everything it does is ass, there is not a single factor that you can possibly think of in which this show is not ass in. Story, characters, world, ost, action, animation, movement, voice acting. Like even dio is in here and doesn't get out of first gear (Probably the source but none the less). Everything is garbage, like straight up terrible.

Why do issekais have this insatiable urge to have talking inanimate objects in them nowadays? Fucking talking sword could not have been made more annoying if they tried, his voice is annoying, his "character" (HES A SWORD), just everything he contributes is annoying.

What is this romance dawg... I actually think around 90% of her sentences finish in the word, the cursed hideous ugly word, FAY. FAY. FAY. FAY. Most natural romance when her entire character and screen time is showing her obsessed with the hobo she picked up as a literal child. Lowkey kind of weird (Only lowkey because I aint trying to self report).

I like how all the set pieces they establish to make drama instantly get waffed away by the plot, like why even put them in there if youre just gonna "oh the sword has a ability to stop that dont worry". Like i understand that if you're an ass writer and you need to insert something to make "drama" without having the skill to actually resolve the source in a rewarding manner then you might need to resort to just straight up plot armouring your way out, BUT EVERYTHING IT SETS UP IS LIKE THIS. The sheer amount of convenience and "Nah the sword got it" is crazy. Like how do you write yourself into so many corners with something as garbage and substanceless as this man, how is "new big monster appeared" every episode too hard of a scenario for bro to get out of, its so jokes.

2 years later I realised I never said shit about the show lel, adapts middest part of the manga with the greatest adaptation oat. Best direction oat. I permit anyone to kill anyone who publically says “the animation is bad”, it’s the most childish demon slayer ufotable fan take oat. Grow up or stop breathing my o2. Good cast but their times yet to come so mainly just a fun introduction to the world and cast. Yh it’s only gonna get better from here. I expect the movie to be better than s1 by a decent margin and I HOPE (if the adaptions as good as s1) that s2 blows everything else out of the fucking water, the _______ introduction and Denji V _______ will be some of the greatest moments in animanga INSHILLAH. Yh this seasons content is like a 5?6? Out of ten but the adaption is beyond amazing.

My most enjoyable watching experience, only rivaled by the masterclass of Mushoku Tensei and Cowboy Bebop. Such a charming, lovable slice of life that breaks and parodies so many tropes of the over saturated RomCom genre.

Rikka is undeniably and undebatably the BEST Moe character in anime. Had me creasing and a lovable character. My favourite character in animanga for a good year or so. Just lovable and forever holds a place in my heart.
Yuuta is an enjoyable Protagonist and also has his funny moments. His best character trait is without a doubt the fact that he's just a guy. How many times have I watched the "Super cool guy goes out with the super awkward and wierd girl" or somewthing along those lines? Too much. It's STUPIDLY overdone. Yuuta is just a guy who reacts to the dumb shit around him like a normal homie would, and i like that. He also has his funny moments.
DEKOMORI IS THE FUNNIEST MOTHERFUCKER YOU GONNA FIND IN ANIME PERIOD. DESUUUUUUUU~~~~~~. NYYYYYOOOOOM SLIDE TACKLE UNBELIEVABLEEEEE~~~~~

LITERALLY PERFECT FAN SERVICE! Takes rikka and Yuuta and gives them tons of moments and gives them spotlight. Literally i cant tell you about how good plot is etc because in reality its basic but OMFG the characters are wholesome af and my heart when this ended and new no more was gonna come from this no word of a lie crippled me for the next 24 hours and depression kicked in XD sad but true, was amazong watch and fun af.

Again characters amazing to watch and the romance part kicks in which. Rikka and yuuta still my favourite couple to watch. Production amazing.
HOWEVER, My personal favourite thing about season 1 is that it doesn't restrict itself with the tropes of it's competitors. There is almost a DUTY in creators of romance anime and manga today to shoehorn in some half-baked drama or conflict by introducing a third love love interest. Some may enjoy this, but once Satone is introduced into the frame, it lost a bit of the chuni charm for me, and became slightly more formulaic, a sharp contrast to season 1. Also, in my personal opinion, I don't find Satone's comedic effect and spin on situations anywhere as funny, wholesome or in the very least entertaining as Rikka and Dekomori.
Of course, we must keep in mid this is Dethan Gondol speaking, and i am #1 chuni fan so of course i still had a great time watching it. Goated

Dissapointing. Watched the trailer when it dropped 9/10 months back or so. Was excited as it looked amazing animation wise

The aniamtion was good- But everyhting else was so average. Mid romance, mid charcaters, WTF WAS THAT WHOLE LETS FIND THE OLD MANS WIFE RECORD THING? THAT WAS THE DEFINITION OF A MRS JACOBS TANGENT. BOOOOOORING

All the after story comments + I think that season 1 is genuinely enjoyable, i know that in comparison to a lot of other high school shows it can be seen as pretty average but for me at the very least the story of Fuko is interesting, I love tomoya and nagisa pre after story anyway and stuff like the cultural festival were pretty very well made. Also that damn kyoto animation charm always gonna score some extra points.

OH and the beginning of clannad with tomoya walking up to school i love the scene where you meet nagisa for the first time and the shades of colours in the background all get more vibrant and stuff (just a nice detail I've remembered since first watching as it's just stuck with me :D). By far my favourite introduction/start to an anime BY FAR

The only criticism one can have is that it doesn't live up to the standards of after story, which may be true, but that does not eradicate the genuine brilliance that the first season provides.

My "first anime" and what a choice it was. From watching this in 2013/14 into me watching 300+ anime shows how genuinely amazing this was. I could never convey my feelings towards this show by words on a notes page without me being here for hours. The 6,000 character cap wouldn't allow me to fit 1/10 of the brilliance of this show. Truly immaculate, perfect and amazing.

Right hear me oput. Yes rolo shouldn't be a thing. Yes the idea of messing with lelouch's (spoilers) by the gvt instead of killing or anything else is dumb. Yes suzaku is a yoyo and sometimes annoying and Yogi wtf are you doing?!?! BUT!!!!!!! Ost still amazing, nightmares fights still awesome. Geass still cool af. Rest of cast still great .Nunally charcter development underateed in my opinion i think the change we see once she gains status is great. A strong 7.5~/10 compared to season 1 but then the last episode...THE GREATEST ENDING YOU WILL EVER SEE IN YOUR LIFE! Absolutely class to pull it off and Lelouch's plan is just complete genius for a conclusion to a show and character.

The thematic expression and the way it carries out its messages, the characters, the story, the animation, the sound track, the actions, the charm, the vibe. No show comes close to bebop when it comes to completeness and well roundedness. It’s THE classic anime for a reason. It’s perfect in just about every way. My most beloved anime oat.

this is the series that deserves my best, up most attention to detail and care to even put together a breakdown that covers 1% of the greatness of cowboy bebop. Probably will do a full review rather than notes, the 6000 characters wouldn’t come close to suffice.

An incredible movie. Somehow adds to the perfection of cowboy bebop. After watching, it feels almost like a necessity to watch before the final 3 episodes of the show. It feels like the missing piece of cowboy bebop. It adds to the already complex and well written cast and elevates and builds upon their motivations and revelations in the finale of the series, especially spike.
Also just a good movie, the action was the best that cowboy bebop has to offer and the actual story was enjoyable and a standout in the series as a whole.
That dogfight was IMMENSE.
The final fight on the tower was great.
Incredible movie, successfully builds upon the perfection and adds to the overall story of Cowboy Bebop and has some of the highlight moments of the series as a whole.
The only "negative" is that it was a stand alone movie and not in the show as after watching it, you can't help but feel like it is necessary for the story to flow as well as it does.

-Only L is (DELETED...FUCK YOU I AINT PLAYING THIS OBJECTIVE ANALYSING SHIT FOR THIS SHOW IT HIT DIFFERENT WHOS GONNA STOP ME it was nitpicking at absolute best anyway sure there are moments that the writing isn't 10/10 but guess what ... ha ha ha ....I DONT GIVE A FUUUUUUCK)

-World is a cold 10/10. Everything about Night city is fucking amazing, the visuals, the vibe, the aesthetic are great (well done trigger they nialed the visuals as per), but it also has amazing substance. The stories and legacies of previous runners, cyberpychosis, the crime and culture that night city encourages and breeds, the corporate battle between the heavy weights, the abilities and implants and SO MUCH MORE. Night city is just as entertaining and interesting a world as you'll find in anime anywhere.

-Characters...are not anything special, but CERTAINLY enjoyable and done well enough that they don't come across as a hindrance to everything else that the show does so well. They are all super fucking enjoyable, lovable or entertaining in their own regard, especially in my eyes, David, Lucy and Rebecca. PLus Halloway, They're all used to highlight the issues bred from the culture that Night city encourages (E.g, Over implantation, manipulation, cyberpsychosis, morality of crime etc there's quite a lot lmao). All fine charcater's in their own regard, not modern masterpieces but all done well enough that they can garner the love they recieve. David's Rise and fall is enthralling and devastating (done well), Hadoway's manipulation of society and exploitation of loophole's produced by the society around him was a good antagonist plot (handled fine) ,Lucy's failed attempt to escape the imprisonment that she was in due to Night city and societies ever need for development and progress and how this affected her/her relationships was entertaining (BUT REALLY NEEDED FLESHING OUT BEFORE I CAN SAY IT WAS GOOD, REALLY SURFACE LEVEL...but still fun). Maine and Dorio's relationship and outcome being used to foreshadow what David and Lucy's relationship would end up as should he continue along the cycle of "the dreamer becoming another legacy for the next dreamer" was really nice, and highlights how David succeeded in his dream that he finally gained after searching for so long and broke this cycle (while obviously not at the same time but spoilers). David's journey along this cycle was just really fucking fun, and was a super enveloping and enthralling journey to watch progress.

-The action sequences? They're done by Trigger, silly, you know how it goes...TITS ASS DICK INTESTINES BRAINS LIMBS FLYING EVERYWHERE---ANIMATED BEAUTIFULLY---SO MANY FUN AND INTERESTING POWERS IMPLANTS AND TOOLS TO FIGHT----FULL THROTTLE PACING----GOATED AND SUPER FUCKING FUN AS PER

-The creme da le creme, perfect, the cherry on top...The Music. The OST. The sound design. The Op. The Ed. Just....Im shaking man they really snapped with this shit they went fucking off holy shit.
I think "I really wanna stay at your house" might be my most favourite song ever, it's been 3 months since i started listening to this shit on repeat and it still hits so hard.
Fffire is a banger opening as well. Whos ready for tomorrow is a banger backing track. Just amazing music all round .

-The ending is really good. Lucy being the only one left at the end ,the Corporate created and bred character, shows how the cycle of corporate and privilege trouncing the commoners continues. The final few minutes and scenes were Sharp, impactful, sad, happy, full throttle, tense, beautiful. Really well made and handled...JUst FUCKING BEAUTIFUL MAN ;(

-Directed fucking amazingly

A show i can say I had a fucking blast watching and the first time in a really long time (since NHK?) that I got that feeling fuzz in my chest after finishing a show. Great animation, Amazing world, Immense musc and production all round, a fun cast and an enveloping story. If things had just been fleshed out more then maybe this in my head would be in the "9" territory rather than "8 or 9" territory, I've not decided yet but as of right now, coming off the hype and based on the love i feel in my heart for this show, its going 9 for now, but could change, who knows. But one things for sure, this show FUCKING SLAPS and it was certainly one of Gondols rare L's to drop this show after the first episode.

I don't know how to feel. I watch date a live to make funny jokes about arguing its peak when its dog shit, not to actually say its good. Overall this season was bad, but damn did the final 3 eps carry it back up I could not believe my eyes. The plot twist is UNIRONICALLY NOT BAD, 6/10 which is high for date a live standards. Kurumi and The Origin angel backstory was fantastic as a Kurumi follower to experience.

Entertaining, and episode 7,8,9 had real promise, but just like every young talent to come out of spurs, they all dwindle to nothing.
The first half was relatively mid-relied HEAVILY on shock factor from “wow can you believe what’s going on on the screen? Like wow omg”, they really pull out all the gaps to show as extreme cases of violences or straight down grim sex scenes just to implement some sort of emotion on the viewer, usually just “wtf”
Akira is an okay 2-D protagonist, Ryo is a bad antagonist and a bad plot twist (no real build up or sentimentality built to him so when he’s twisted to the bad guy it just seems boring). Miki is mid. The only character I liked to an extent was Miku as she was the only one with any sort of substance, and even that is limited to the cliche of (I haaaaate you …… but I actually luuuuuv yooou uwu)
Liked the animation, had a charm to it and episode 7-9 looked quite good, particularly with delivering its emotional scenes predominantly coming in these episodes
I don’t like the last episode and it’s a 99% rip off of end of Eva
Actually this anime as a whole is like end of Eva but worst produced, 1000X worst characters and no character growth or development being the reason behind crazy shit happening, so basically it’s all just “weird thing happens for sake of weird thing happening”.
This anime is just there for thrill seekers who see a few decapitations, wowed sex scenes and a lot of gorey and wild death scenes (some of the death scenes and gore were fantastic in fairness) and find it enjoyable. However, there is a severe lack of substance behind its characters, there’s no real coherent narrative or well written over arching meaning behind the madness, and although certainly trying to push a GENUINELY INTERESTING THEME (how humans in the right scenarios can be literally worst, more evil and wicked than Literal Devils), it is not executed anywhere near as well as it could have been and only really gets pushed in the last episode and a half. That said I did enjoy myself watching this, I did skip certain action sequences in the last 2 episodes (some unbearably bad), and can say I had fun, but in almost every element you can think of…it was poor

Horribly under rated. Of course it was never going to match up to it's infamous sequel in pure adrenaline and entertainment value, but just like clannad afterstory it does not take away from the predecessors greatness. DB's journey is enveloping, you get so invested in Goku's journey through life and his quest to become the strongest he can possible be. His rivalries with Krillin especially is great to watch develop over time and is a genuinely all time favorite rival fight. Tien fight was entertaining and tense. Piccolo fight adds a new dynamic to the rinsed "world tournament" structure of the show.
I loooove Bulma, chichi, yamcha, Tien, Oolong and all the others he meets and befriends along the way. Although it will never match up to dragon ball z's fights, tension, villains or nostalgia...this is what started my love for these characters and for me, is peak dragon ball in terms of characters, world building and story telling, with the fights also not being as extreme as DBZ but for me at least on par on in technique and interest in some fights (less screaming and brute strength but more tactics etc = enjoyment on par with SOME dbz fights).

The fianl 20-30 minutes were a spectacle- I love seeing Shinji FINALLY acting on his desires

It's harsh to have this so low, but my main issue with it isn't the movie itself (although there were massive issues for me), but the hopes i had coming off of the second and when it falls off this hard, the disappointment is elevated and i therefore feel like this was worst than it probably is. In terms of disappointment, the worst in the series. In terms of enjoyment, the worst in the series. HONESTLY AND GENUINELY IMO THE WORST FIGHTS IN THE SERIES. Like what do i say which isn't already said. Its great and well roundly good in everything. One of the best stories, with some of the best fights and characters. Roy Mustang is one of the coolest characters in the media. It's essentially a 9/10 in everything imaginable. World building and story telling are 10/10's quite simply. AN amazing conclusion as well to match, which are certainly rare. Homunculi are amazing antagonists. However, i should say that in truth this anime didn't impact me in the slightest after finishing compared to 90% of other anime like ill finish something and be sad or at least need some time to process it being finished or something but nope i finished this and moved on with my day and never really thought about it again. However, this doesn't take away from the brilliance of one of anime's greatest ever achievements, it just didn't hit me sentimentally enough to say "thats one of my all time favorites" to become a ten. Amazing but just not quite enough attachment to the series to put it as a ten,

REWATCH; Yh so this revisionism is about to go fucking crazy. So the shows a ten out of ten outright and easily one of my favourite shows of all time. wow wow wow wow wow did i take this show for granted. "World building and story telling are 10/10s quite simply" yet "not one of my favourites" highlights how little i truly appreciated in this masterpiece, 10/10s dont even scratch the surface for how endearing and enveloping this story and its portrayal is. To take so many differing character arcs , themes and story arcs (past and present) AND wrap them up into one single harrowing, tense and climatic story and concluding in one of the most satisfying endings in media without sacrificing the pacing and action of the show...it is without doubt in my mind the best told/paced/presented story in anime at the very least. The show contains some of the best scenes to this day and has some amazing art and animation, the backdrops are detailed and give each new location an individuality and personality of their own. The fights are unique and are backed up with a fantastic production. The OST is ,with no doubt in my mind, one of the best in media as a whole, its so grandiose and full of splendor, packed to the brim with the sense of adventure or danger or despair or whatever it is trying to portray. The characters have so much personality and charm about all of them, Hohenheim/Father, Mustang, Scar, Bradley, ALL of the homunculus, All just so interesting and unique. The antagonists are as fun as they come and not a single one of their death scenes miss. Its got one of the most stacked catalogues of openings and endings I have ever seen. I love literally everything about this show, It is incredible that a single writer and production studio could possess the talent to make each and every factor (bar its extremely dated and gnawing comedy) so incredible. Truly a show of the highest calibre, certainly well rounded, but undoubtedly NOT a "jack of all trades, master of none". I can't find the words to end these notes off because I haven't even begun to express the brilliance of this show. I suppose the highest form of compliment i can give to pay homage to this shows quality is that the show that has long held the title as the highest rated show of all time is overrated in any way.

I unironically enjoyed these a lot but i know the8y sucked even way back then

8 is an inflated score, its objectively a 6/7 in essentially every regard, still a good score mind you. Its character writing is simple and typical, its world building is barely present and just in general its a very simple show- it doesn't go out it's way to reinvent the wheel or anything. But I think this is one of the shows strongest elements. I first watched sao when i was a 10/11 year old, and since I have consumed so much issekai that only probably about half of it is on my list (and thats a lot on itself), and in truth I can't tell 90% of them apart. They are all almost entirely made up of the same casts with the same edgy inherently overpowered mc who the viewer is invited to self insert onto and blah blah star burst stream blah blah, you know the formula. Yet I think Grimgar moves away from the particular tropes often portrayed in isekai in particular. I would mainly contribute this to the generally grounded and realistic take on isekai that Grimgar takes.
Firstly the characters. I mean this as a compliment, but You could take this cast and portray them in a slice of life anime and wouldnt really be able to tell the difference. When you think of anime like sao or shield hero, every character (who were just so randomly chosen) are the most eccentric and upbeat and over the top personality characters conceivable. Yet in this, they really do strike you as normal people. A key element of an isekai is that these people were randomly chosen and that they could have been leading normal lives, and i dont think any isekai i've watched has portrayed this particular idea as well as grimgar. Due to this grounded cast, the chemistry between the characters is also enjoyable and refreshing compared to the genre. The character writing is very simple and uncomplex, yet i still very much enjoyed it. The responsibility of being a leader, how to be a good leader, the effect of death and how it varies from person to person. None of this is new or handled in a unique light, but they were effective in developing the cast slightly and again, made them more relatable and grounded with them facing much more human and normal issues we as viewers would face compared to other isekai casts. Also on a lesser note, the VA's did a great job at conveying a more human reaction to the scenarios the casts were dealing with and overall had a great performance. I also thoroughly enjoyed the cast just in general, i thought they were fun and rank quite high in comparison to other isekais.
Secondly, the World. Again, it isn't done exceptionally well or in a lot of depth just like the characters, but when done it is done effectively. The settings and the monsters in the world itself aren't exactly new or unique, but handled well enough. However, again, the sense of realism that the world portrays is very refreshing compared to others in the genre. Firstly, there is no method for the cast to quickly get over powered or for short cuts in terms of progression. The power progression itself is slow and realistic and on a step by step basis which is refreshing. Every fight bares threat and risk and you never get the feeling that the cast is just so levels ahead of the competition that you already knew they were going to win which kept the fights and conflicts interesting. The focus on OUT OF FIGHTING surviving is done in very good depth and by far the best ive so far seen in isekai. The focus is on food and shelter and having good enough equipment to effectively fight mobs rather than the fighting of mobs themselves which again delivers a more grounded experience. Rather than the wonder of the outside world and exploration of the world be the focus, its the way of the casts day to day life and how they manage to get by that takes the centre stage- again a refreshing and grounded take on isekai as a genre.
The production is something else. The animation and art is beautiful, the backdrops are scenic and charming and give the show its own charm. A very unique art style (especially compared to a1's usual works) in which i whole heartedly love. The OST is also very unique compared to most isekai and has some very good tracks. One of the best produced isekai out there hands down.
In conclusion, not a well written masterpiece or narrative master class by any stretch of the imagination, but an incredibly grounded and realistic approach to isekai, and compared to how saturated the isekai genre is of the power fantasy tropes and gimmicks, Grimgar's simplicity and grounded approach to the genre is extremely refreshing to watch and makes for one of my favourite isekai experiences. I'm more than interested in reading the light novel to see how the series develops and can easily recommend Grimgar to any isekai fan or anyone looking for a break away from the general landscape that the current isekai genre finds itself in. A super enjoyable watch and an anime i can easily see myself revisiting in the future. Good :)

Okay people, lets do this one last time.
Haibane renmei is easily the most frustrating show i have ever experienced in trying to rate and evaluate next to thrice upon a time, and it is EASILY the most elitist show of all time. It completely depends on the viewers tolerance and ability to withstand boring dross, but still be able to find value in the show through its symbolism and metaphors that it throws in. Quite literally this is how the entirety of the FIRST NINE EPISODES go. Rakka goes on boring fetch quests with some of the truly most boring side characters of all time, doing some sort of uninteresting and slow task for 20 minutes with just a shit ton of random religious imagery (which the producer literally explained meant nothing and just looked cool, which just serves to make this extremely complicated and convoluted mess of a setting and world more confusing when hes just throwing pointless shit in the way for the shits and giggles) and metaphors thrown into the episodes. Most of the value in this show comes in the last two-three episodes, as its where you get the first real moment of character writing, which in all fairness is executed well, however the "strong and overworked character needs to learn to ask for help and rely on others" is not a new archetype by any means and i've seen it done better, but nonetheless it was done well. I think there was some subplot with nemu in ep 10 but she's honestly that boring and uninteresting I couldn't tell you what it was, The rest of the sides don't really get an ending since they didn't really begin, just a stagnant state of boring. Rakka has to come to accept her role as a haibane and the world she lives in and with this the story is wrapped up.
So the main purpose of it's ending and Rakka's journey is to express that just like the viewer, not even the haibane understand their own existence or the world that they live in, and they just have to make the most of their lives and do their best to find their own happiness in the world they live in eg through their jobs etc. Now this sounds like a sweet ending and very well suited for the show, and honestly I really like the ending itself, but what I fucking despise is the endings main theme and how it runs through the whole show, that you're not supposed to understand. I fucking love the setting and world of this show, it was the only aspect of the show that kept me watching the dross that is the first 75% of the show. It introduces SO MANY ideas, places, processes, organisations and events...but as the main theme of the show is accepting that you don't know anything, we don't get a single explanation for ANYTHING. The 10's or maybe even 100's moments of religious symbolising and mysteries and interesting ideas and fucking bird metaphors that they introduce, they dont get any value added to them ONCE. They don't get answered ONCE. Wow what a cool world, i hope i get to learn about it. NO YOU CAN'T. I wonder how the raibane are born, and what they really are. NUH UH. I wonder what the death of the haibane really is. GUESS WE'LL NEVER KNOW. What the fuck does any of this religous symbolism mean. MEH IDK LEL. What the fuck was the underground episode and what were the voices? GUESS WE WILL NEVER FUCKING KNOW. It's so fucking unsatisfying, you end up having learnt essentially nothing about the world after the second episode other than the introduction of shit that you're never gonna know the true meaning of. This is where the elitism comes back in, If you can TRULY watch this show and say that a lack of answers and understanding of what the fuck is happening is necessary for the ending and still find enjoyment, then good for you, but that ain't me. Unsurprisingly, I hate the mystery in the show. It means genuinely fucking nothing half the time, the mysteries they introduce never get solved, the mystery is never progressed as its just in a constant state of "whats happening? Guess you'll never know". The characters are hyper boring, like truly so uninteresting. Rakka is likable enough as a protag, rekki's development in the last two eps is handled well, but nothing else of note happens with its characters writing wise or interesting wise for the first ten episodes. The animation is really bad, the ost is a lot worst than i remembered it being. So in conclusion, if you can excuse the show as being INTENTIONALLY unsatisfying in its world building and mystery to produce an ending that in all honestly felt quite fitting and solid, can look past the boring fucking characters, the boring first TEN episodes (that end up adding essentially no value to the show in retrospect), the
essentially pointless imagery and the overall "what the fuck is happening" vibe of the show then fair enough you elitist bastard.

The ride I thought i was getting with slam dunk, but I finished with all the hype and charm yet none of the disappointment. I will never use the word "Hype" in the same way as I had been before watching this show. Pure unadulterated hype, goosebumps and chills all throughout. The comedy is certainly of a bygone era, yet the shows execution and perfect balance of unseriousness and tension makes the lighthearted sides of the show more rewarding and welcome (I also just think the comedy was pretty funny, as childish and insensitive it can be at times).The fights are obviously the main take away and highlight from the show, and thats for good reason. Not many are able to produce fights with such emotion and sentimentality flowing through the fight while also maintaining as good a pace and fluidity to its fights, combined with a charming soundtrack and timeless animation and art style and you have one of the best catalogues of fights in anime. I think this show exceeds other sports series such as slam dunk and haikyuu is because boxing as a sport can be used to really flesh out their characters more than basketball and volleyball respectively. They allow the clashing of differing ideals, mentalities and backgrounds a lot more than other sports with the 1v1 nature of the sport allowing you to establish two characters and let them battle it out while slam dunk and haikyuu for example have the one star man on the team and the other 4 are basically npcs and essentially bring the value down. In this, its a constant struggle between two individuals and it really allows the tension to build and lets the climaxes hit even harder. Relating to this point is its characters and overall charm of the series. Put simply, it is off the charts. The main cast is beyond lovable and anyone who watches it will love each and every one of them, I'm sure. The chemistry between our main squad is refreshing and enjoyable and somehow never gets old. Ichiro is an all timer of a rival despite having limited screen time, while as far as opponents go; Jason, Kobashi, Yashida, Sendo, Volg and the champ were all amazing juxtapositions to ippo's character and all extremely lovable in their own right. Each character is introduced and all have their own backgrounds and personalities and are all likeable in their own way and emphasises the battle between wills and therefore elevates the overall tension and pay off for each fight. They aren't by any means deep, genre defining characters, but they all have their own little character arcs and are all extremely lovable...well at least up until a point. I think that everything post rookie tournament arc all the way upto the volg fight was unfortunately extremely mid (Except the miyata in thailand mini arc that was a series highlight), it lacked the training arcs that I had come to enjoy, and more importantly it became too formulaic, I think they played the "I...I WON!!!" victory scene about 16 times, it did sadly become slightly gnawing. However, it certainly recovers and peaks even higher than before. The themes are also extremely simple, mainly about determination and never giving up as you'd expect from a rags to riches sports series, yet something about ippos journey is just so much endearing than any other. The mix of slice of life and attention to detail about what happens outside of the ring just makes you believe in ippo as a protagonist so much more than any other sports series, all the hard work and dedication is on screen, you see the effort and you go through his transformation with him, which makes the fights (although only a quarter of the shows run time in a fighting anime) all the more rewarding and tense, you truly feel like you're in the boots of ippo himself. You feel the heartbreak as hard as the glee. While any other series you'd see the mc get up after the 3rd potentially match ending hook and I'd say "yh right", in this i say "PLLSSS STAR BOY YOU GOT ONE MORE LEFT IN YOU". Its a special series that hits the perfect balance of training and slice of life elements with its fights, and in turn not only makes the fights more rewarding, but also elevates its simple themes of hard work and dedication that would seem tiresome and monotonous in other series to new heights in this show, you are TRULY ride or die for ippo. Another simple things I enjoyed as well, The fact ippo actually loses a fight. Sounds stupid, but in slam dunk and haikyuu they just never lose? It allows you to not just highlight more sides to the sport and mentality of an athlete, but also makes ippo's road to stardom, lets you show a new side to the hard work and determination themes that get shoved down your throat, and just shows a whole new side to the story being told and makes it even more endearing.

At long last the sports series I had been waiting for, Packed to the brim with charm and lovability, while delivering incredible action and an endearing and likable story at its core. The definition of a "Classic"

The only word I can use to sum up this show is astounding. One, in that "it’s genuinely amazing" way. Two, in the brain fuck idk what’s happening oh god help me what the fashion.

Alucard one of the best characters of all time. Some good writing, a 7 or 8/10 character. BUT HE IS SO FKN COOL + HIS DESIGN SLAPS = PERSONAL FAVORITE

Genuinely amazing apart from the 3 decade old comedy which is the cringiest comedy I promise you'll ever witness.

Even some good emotional beats and moral questioning E.g about the value of life, immortality and the sentiency of humans.

I love the whole cast, I love the whole vibe of the show. It's just so Jojo it's unbelievable.

Okay I could do my normal notes where i could go into detail, but instead, let me just reiterate an event from the show, and you can see why I love it so much:

So, a war over Britain is launched. The enemies are Super speed, super regenerative Nazis who are half zombie half human entities. The Queen flocks to Canada and sends her private organization of Vampires and trained Mercenaries to protect England. The Pope then sends his army of test tube baby, genetically engineered super Catholics to try and eradicate both the British and Nazis. As a further response, England then send Racist, EDL KKK members to balance out the numbers against the Pope's specialist forces. However, before a war is raged between the 3,000 KKK members and 1,500 Catholics mage snipers, The Queens private army consisting of 1 person and 2 vampires brings back 10,000's of soliders from 500 years ago back from the dead and becoming a God. So, understandably, The KKK EDL members, The Nazis and the Pope's forces all band together to kill Alucard. However, he kills basically everyone except one super bio engineered catholic who screams bible verses and starts chopping down 1000s of these undead soldiers with only one arm (One is barely attached, obviously) and reaches Alucard, He then stabs himself with the nails that hung Jesus in the heart and becomes the weapon of Christ and becomes a human embodiement of the literal cross Jesus dies on and fights Alucard. He, however, loses despite producing one of the funnest fights in anime and Alucard destroys him but shares his pain and for the first time shows emotion in centuries before saying good bye to his closest rival and the only man who could end his immortality...Oh and then a Zepplin Kamikaze attacks him but thats not important. Then the new blonde robo-hitler 2.0 comes down and vows to end Alucard, before sending the werewolf of London and a Buitler to end him.
THIS IS A 1/3 OF ONE SINGLE EPISODE...AND I CUT OUT HALF OF THE VARIOUS OTHER PLOT LINES AND CHARACTER ARCS WITHIN, SUCH AS THE FALL FROM GRACE OF THE #1 RANKED CATHOLIC TO A DICTATOR BEFORE BEING VIOLATED AND SO ON AND SO FORTH.

THE SHOW IS ABSURD. AND I LOVE IT. It's got that Jojo quality of just full sending everything and anything they do, no matter how stupid or wacky it sounds in retrospect because IT ALL JUST WORKS and makes such a unique watching experience. Immensely entertaining, really fun watch, lovable characters, some great action, one of the best OSTs in ANYTHING. Incredible.

First 13 eps
I just despise the idea that writers can get so lazy to the point that in their horror, suspense thriller that they fail so terribly in that the only way to achieve any shock factor that they have to go to such lengths of showing mass child abuse. Its uncomfortable and horrible to watch, seeing this 3 year old looking kid get slapped for 8 episodes in a row. We established he's an abusive guardian how many times in season 1 and again in season 2? why do you have to repeat it. No one is in doubt he's horrible, but repeatedly using the same thing over and over and over is just lazy and unenjoyable, not like it was nice to watch to begin with. You make huge developments in Rikka as the new MC and twist what the series is actually about and introduce a ghost (???) but don't develop it, don't show the curse in action, don't come up with any new gruesome cycles etc, but just loop the same child abuse. It's just horrible to watch, hinders the show's growth and development and just makes the show overall an unenjoyable experience that doesn't feel like it's going anywhere.
Also, Maebara and Rikka can "Change fate", but sometimes the SAME ACTIONS will lead to DIFFERENT OUTCOMES, So its just chance? Its just random? What's the point of watching if it's just luck? RIkka just lucks out in the end then? Anyway, the first 11 episodes are just terrible. They really highlighted how bad and annoying the cast is when you actually have to watch them be characters, unlike season 1 where theyre just fodder to be killed in some stupid way or another, but is atleast entertaining. I update this episode by episode because the entire episodes run time im just fixated on it ending, let alone interested enough to click next episode instantly. On for a 2/10 finish IM SO FCK BORED.

Genuinely a decently crafted story. A few tropes, some extremely unoriginal villain backstories etc, but honestly a very well done mystery and story by the end.Its very much like a poor mans "monster" (100000 times better than HIgurashi btw) in the way it has all these different characters and plot lines and mysteries all link back to the village of Himazawa. Its not done incredibly well, but its fine and there was clearly effort put in. The characters dont ever really change other than Rikka's appreciation of her friends, but other than that the characters are relatively unchanged throughout unfortunately. I really like Rikka and Hanyuu's relationship and chemistry, I like ooishi and akasaka and Irie but none of them are really "good character", all 5s and 6s. That said I have a strange love for Rikka now even though she didn't really do anything to garner it. I really like the way the setting of Himazawa is utilised, quite well done. Overall the writing in this segment was not incredible, but was at the very least okay and even good in some areas, ESPECIALLY the multiple different mysteries tying back to Himazawa and Hanyuu's representation of God and Sin in relation to the Villain (Spoilers). overall a 5 or 6/10 half. Quite decent. However, three things that ramp this half up for me to a 6/10 is that the Opening, Ending and personal enjoyment. I love this opening and ending alot, and this entire half i had a really good time surprisingly. It was a lot of fun, i enjoyed a select few of the characters more than i did in the rest of the franchise, i enjoyed the mysteries and lore of the series, i enjoyed Rikka SO MUCH MORE AS A PROTAGONIST THAN KEICHI. There is a lot more to like in this half of the season compared to s1 and the first half- even if theres not much outstanding or particularly good elements. But I had fun which was a big improvement to s1 and the first half.

Overall, I might have put this as a 7 if the first half didn't exist, but it does. I enjoyed the second half a decent amount and it showed elements of good writing, even if the cast overall heavily disappointing in quality (although they are more enjoyable compared to s1). I'm just so happy to finally understand the series and have the show finally given some context. Overall it's really average in almost every element, its cast is dissapointing and the writing isn't exactly great. The first half fucking blows. However, I had fun, I really liked the attention to detail given to the backstory and substance to the mysteries od HImazawa, the syndrome and the mysterious god figure, I liked Rikka and Hanyuu a lot, It was fun overall (aslong as i dont think about the first half). It's obvious comparison is Re zero and of course to doesn't match up to s2 in any way imaginable but i'd say it can match up to season 1 very well. 6/10. By the end had fun. Nothing of any note ever happens - and that's great.
Peak manga series, so the only thing that Cloverworks had to do was nail the adaptation.
And god damn did they nail it.
They took my personal favourite character models in manga, and made them better. The accuracy to the manga is mad. The colour is beautiful. The personality added to each character through attention to detail in their designs is great. Incredible job Clover, guess 2021 wasn’t a complete failure then (pffffffffft)
The narrative is a simple slice of life. High school romance. That’s it. Yep.
But god damn the characteeeeeeers man. The carrrryyyyyyyyyy. Love all of them, all made me enjoy the series that but more. Miyamura character arc so much better in the anime, because that “we’re not gonna show you his development while it’s happening, but highlight it when it’s done” method works a lot better in a 5 hour anime compared to 10 hour read (lots of words)

Only thing keeping it down is it’s competition- in anime form it now has to compete with snafu and Chuuni while it doesn’t as a manga, hence it’s not around high 8’s to 9 territory.

All arcs except greed island are great. Really amazing fights and ost great. A strong 8.5~ until THE ARC happened. Im sorry but the chimera ant arc is so unbelievably goated that i cant put into words, one of the best that shonen will ever have to offer in story telling and characters and overall everything is amazing. Also kurapika is cool af- york new was good. in the 9-10 range somewhere.

edit...3 years later, and i think i might not like this show anymore, like, at all. Literally ALL i care about from this show was the kurapika fight and the second half of the chimera ant arc and the character designs/ost, and the rest i literally couldn't care less about. Its so good and its peaks are so ridiculously high, but I honestly feel no level of emotional attachment to the series and if chimera ant arc didnt exist I wouldnt think about this show EVER. Only like Meruem and Kurapika character wise, wanted more phantom troupe and chrollo as they were the only other characters I cared about, dislike Gon and Killua overall, kinda boring for me and their personalities got old really quick (except rage gon, that was peak). Yh for 150 eps and i only really think about 3/4 moments over the whole show compared to one piece where theres countless memorable moments and I cant say I care that hxh as a whole hot me that hard.

But the true value in this show is that it is so unawarely tropey, like there is no parody or anything. It's just ass for the sake of it.

Maybe the single worst cast of characters to grace issekai and yes this is below the show where the mc's are a literal fucking sword and vending machine. Side characters of a couple of cuckoos/ shikimori, just straight up unpleasant and lifeless, some trying so hard to be funny i literally cringed physically and nearly had an aneurism. All the girls are trash issekai harem bait. just bland and cookie cutter. His siblings are undoubtedly the worst antagonists i have ever experienced. The animals constantly being involved with everything and needing a cartoonish ass reply every time gets old real fucking quick. Yuuya, i mean...His entire character is doing an insane crazy feat of strength, not realising not everyone can do it, scratching his head going oopsies and everyone screaming whaaaat in the exact same tone in the exact same way twice an episode (YES LITERALLY IT IS THAT TROPEY).

The hype moments are fucking hilariously bad man. Genuinely leaves you rolling on the floor when they try to make yuuya this fucking loser look cool. all his irl cool moments eg against the gang or the bear are so laughably terrible man, (like blud crashed a motorcycle into a step and it FUCKING BLEW THE FUCK UP LIKE HOW.)

The animation started very well for me, i really liked it and it felt really high end for an issekai in general...now i hate it. The worst part (actually joint with the chars they are also terrible) is the fucking plot. WHAT WAS THE STORY? WHAT WAS THE REASON FOR ME SEEING THIS? NOTHING FUCKING HAPPENED AT ALL. It feels episodic for a long while but then they introduce this whole vile vs divine schtick half way through and then the princesses brother and the big bad vile girl happened but...WHY? NONE OF IT ACCOMPLISHED ANYTHING. THESE PLOT POINTS SERVE NO PURPOSE BECAUSE THE RESOLUTIONS ARE ALWAYS TO GO BACK TO THE WAY THINGS WERE BEFORE SO BY THE END...NOTHING FUCKING HAPPENED. I actually really like yuta and rikka's dynamic in terms of a shonen ability, having the weaponized embodiment of a lost one is a cool concept in itself, but its ability to give yuta access to essentially any curse technique as you will see later on adds a MUCH NEEDED, REFRESHING character to throw into the relatively one dimensional state of the fights later on with most characters coming down to one or two abilities each.

The greatest action we will probably ever see, an amazing production, but overall extremely underwhelming and lobsided, the words i constantly go back to when thinking back on this season.

The hidden inventory arc was certainly the best part, it set up shibuya extremely well and gave some MUCH needed substance to gojo and geto's characters and was genuinely an interesting watch. Toji was the first good addition to the cast since Todo (And yuta if you count him although he isn't present). It was a great arc all around, short, but got to the point quick and left its mark very well and had an incredible change in vibe.

Shibuya, on the other hand, is so lobsided it’s crazy. While it has the absolute peak of the medium in animation and action sequences, which are certainly fun and entertaining, the rest is extremely lack luster. First of all, maybe the worst comedy in anime history and i am honestly not trying to exaggerate, there is literally no comedic timing to any of them. Secondly, the elephant in the room, its deaths. Nanami's was so unbelievably cliche with the whole "its up to you now" and finger point, but at least it had a purpose and could be the ignition for yuji to FINALLY get some sort of character or substance, and I did like the contrast between Mei Mei's self centered and selfish nature to Nanami's Selflessness, a good death scene and a decent enough character. So then, why do we have to follow that up with Mechamaru's and Nobara's. They literally NEVER gave us time to even know mechamaru before this season so it goes to stand that no one would care about his death either, and especially the lost romance between him and Miwa (Literally saw them interact once lmao, why would anyone care), but the real slapper is Nobara. The fact one of our main character's had to have their ENTIRE BACKSTORY AND CHARACTER crammed in as she died 40 EPISODES INTO THE SHOW should tell you enough that perhaps this was premature, but to worsen it, WHAT WAS THE POINT? What does her death really do for yuji and his character, the under developed world, the story? Literally nothing, and that's the big issue with a lot of this season. The two twins, mechamaru, haruto, toji, all the cursed spirits and nobara. Because the cast is so BLOATED, none of their deaths hold any value and come across as a quick input of shock factor, even though its clear that gege is trying to tell something better, but he cant because there are too many characters for him to handle. Anyway I could break down each death sequence and point out their poor execution but you get the point. Now onto the people who are still alive. REMOVE THE KYOTO CLASS. THEY ADD NOTHING, NO ONE CARES ABOUT THEM EXCEPT TODO. Genuinely serve NO purpose and having them arrive for the final battle to add nothing just makes them even less seriously taken, and since you clearly dont want to give them the time to develop or add anything to the series, why have them at all? Megumin is still just the edgy sidekick whos fights ALWAYS underwhelm and remains the most lack luster rival in shonen. Yuji stays as simple as ever, and while he starts to feel the repercussions and pressure of having jjks equivalent of hitler inside of him, he gets told to brush it off and so he does...that's his character arc. The whole brother thing is shoehorned in really rushed at the end and you didn't really get the chance to feel anything towards choso or their new found brotherhood. Gojo has some cool moments but is ofc sealed very quickly (which was dumb in itself, no shot he let him get sealed for that cliche of a scene). I mean, there's not much to say on the character front because nothing changes other than random deaths and limb severing. The story essentially stops at episode 9 or whenever gojo gets sealed and restarts at ep 21 when mahito is finally defeated, and its pretty clear the story is'nt going to go anywhere particularly interesting (we all know gojo is gonna get released, we all know who the bosses of the world are, we know itadori cant die etc etc).Also, I think there may be too many fights for the shows own good. Does anyone remember the yuji vs grasshopper fight, yuji/megumi vs bald guy, megumi vs toji etc? Could we not have allocated the time from these fights no one wanted or needed to help flesh out the death scenes that come across as incredibly rushed and pointless. Also, the underdeveloped world comes to bite them in the back this season, as last season it didn't particularly have any importance, but this season the jujutsu society and its link to normal civilization is so significant, yet its just an empty void that hasn't been expanded upon and is essentially what ever the writer wants it to be at the time (Special grades popping out of nowhere for the lols etc). I dare say that there is quite literally ZERO appeal to this season OTHER than its fights and animation.

Overall, The cast is too big and are all extremely under developed. The deaths are at some points laughable and carry next to no value and personally really hinder the experience (Nobara's death was the funniest moment and only time I've laughed watching the show, which is ironic considering how many garbage jokes they attempt every episode). However, the absolute inhuman performance by Mappa brings this show up by multiple ratings, fantastic job by the studio, but far less so in regards the writer.

I am a 19 year old man at the time of watching this, and I have to admit...This show was cool af. Even tho it parodies the genre and is obviously mainly a comedy, the action is for some reason really fucking good lmao. They have their own twist on the demon lord take which is actually one of the most interesting i have ever seen. The sanctuary arc was surpisingly interesting. Yh its actually just a really cool show with its own twist on the issekai formula.

The production is actually decent. Man i love how this shit has the most ISSEKAI ANIMATOIN AND ART STYLE OF ALL TIME MAN. Its kadokawa so i cant tell if this was on purpose or not but if so that shit is hilarious well done. The OST is really good at points icl but overall just fine. The fight scenes are super well produced imo and of course the atomic scenes are goated, which could be parodying how issekai fight scenes always suck but im not giving kadokawa that much credit.

One of the funnest shows ive ever watched, one of the funniest shows ive ever watched, which is its main purpose. It parodies the issekai genre stupidly well and accurately, but even past that I think its got an interesting world and story to learn about in the future, its characters are fun, it has a decent production behind it, has good action sequences, is the PERFECT AND GREATEST power fantasy and its not even close...Like maybe i just like the show too much, but is it just me who thinks this isnt jsut a good parody of issekai, but just a really good issekai in general?

Wow, I am fucking speechless. I don't think a show has EVER defied and surpassed my expectations as much as The Eminence in Shadow. Never did I once think I could enjoy a show as much as I did this one, Let alone the show I've enjoyed watching the most be this one in particular. Never did I think a show about taking the piss out of the issekai genre and its staple tropes would HOOK me this much. I think its probably the funniest show I have ever watched, the laughs were none stop. Every episode had multiple of what would be another series greatest ever joke. The comedic timing is so perfect with every joke, no joke ever over stays their welcome and they instantly move onto the next incredible hilarious bit, and most importantly they ALL HIT. I can count the amount of times i've unironically laughed at ANY OTHER ANIME PUT TOGETHER ON ONE HAND, this i genuinely couldn't tell you. God the characters are so fucking funny man. You cant possibly begin to understand how much the "everything just works out for the best" trope annoys me, but oh my fucking god is it HILARIOUS in this season, the sheer stupidity and lack of care from Cid and how everything just works out in the most complex way, when the cause of the issues at hand are him just trying to act cool. I love it so fucking much man. Then theres just the simpler bits like the IS THAT WHAT YOU REALLY THINK? scenes, and the delta scenes, and omg theres so many man, its JUST SO FUCKING FUNNY MAN.

Anyway to stop the fan boying, while their comedy is perfect and the main driving force of why i love it so much, they do so many other things well, but the one I really want to focus on this season other than the world and story is how well they present the idea how this is a real world for the characters around Cid, and how Cids tomfoolery contrasts against it. You can get a real sense that all of these disasters that the world faces are truly end of the world situations, and you see the desperation and significance of the characters, which perfectly sets up both the story/plot/character aspect (more sympathetic, you care more about the char/world etc etc), but also sets the jokes up so perfectly to show how little Cid cares/thinks bout what he's doing. I DID NOT WORD THAT WELL. Basically, because of how well the outside perspective is developed (Rose, the people etc), it not only sets up Cids jokes super well, but it also makes you feel and care for the circumstances surrounding the joke more etc. and gives more substance to the jokes than the jokes themselves? I know what I am trying to say but I'm really struggling lmao. Its very well written comedy and paradying while not leaving the world and story under developed and insignifcant as JUST a punchline (even tho it usually is). ITS GOOD SUCK MY DICK.

Anyway. Funniest show of all time, Insurmountable amount of fun, Ridiculously lovable cast and characters, a world I actually some what care about, a story I want to see carry on, I have literally no complaints. The show that truly highlights that quality can come in all shapes and forms, not just through pure character writing and super complex ideas. Sometimes a simple idea can be taken to even the "Highest" of standards (teehee). Maybe my favourite ever anime, at the very least up there, and its all about a Kid who watched naruto and wants to be like sasuke, crazy.

Amazing

First 5 episodes were, at least to me, a masterclass. Great episodic story telling with each episode serving as an epitome or mirror reflecting an issue in the current landscape of the world, while analysing aspects such as sentience and the make up of the human soul elegantly. The world building, the art style, everything in these episodes mesh so well and hit a brilliant balance. Fantastic. 6-7 are probably the "weakest" parts of the show, it hits the dead centre of being episodic while trying to establish essentially the entire basis/structure for what will be the final 3rd, so the episodic stories suffer while we basically get given a 20 minute exposition dump and a pretty inconsequential death scene (Although it was a well produced scene). The third act, oh boy is it something. OH MAN would this show have absolutely thrived with an extra 4 episodes for its runtime. They introduce so many backstories, ideas and story beats in such a small time frame, but introduce them so late on that none of them feel completely natural. I would ABSOLUTELY believe that the staff were originally quoted a 2 season long schedule because the change in pacing in between the first half and the second is mind boggling. Anyway, the pedal gets pushed to the fucking metal in the final third and it tells. They introduce multiple significant characters who ended up being KEY in the finale on episode 8!!! While the big climax is literally happening, characters are walking out and giving introductions??? Insanity. That said, there is nothing that plagues me more than a predictable and boring ending and you can call it anything but that, for better or for worst. I heavily lean, surprisingly, towards the good. The pacing is absurd, yet it somehow works? Its clunky, its not neat, its more of a nicholas jackson finish than a Messi finish, but somehow still kind of works. Literally all the characters except the scientist guy who got thrown on at the 89th minute had their character arcs and were done to a relative degree of quality (could have been better but are still more than functional). The social commentary in the final third is perhaps at the forefront too much for some, but I loved it as I did in the rest of the show (although it takes a much heavier political turn rather than focusing on the human side). The story was certainly crippled by the pacing issues as before mentioned, yet the major story beats and climaxes all hit (Could have been an all timer, so unfortunate). While scuffed and toddling and swaying at points, I think the shows story makes it to the finish line, while its social commentary and themes are the marque element to why this show was so enjoyable and masterfully done.

My anilist highlights one particular thing I enjoy above all, and thats creativity. Shows establishing their own style, world and story and keeping it removed from its competitors will always rake in points from me. The world is so incredibly different and removed from anything I've ever seen, the monopolisation of memories and its impact on societies of all races, in all corners of the universe, and using this to analyse so many themes...The sense of exploration and wonder in the first 6 episodes is truly incredible. The soundtrack isn't record shattering or anything, but I enjoy its range and ability to enduce an otherwordly feeling, some of them truly sound alien. The art style is so charming and fun, the settings are detailed and always SO colourful, I always enjoyed what i was looking at, and the use of colour (and its lack of) are used so so SO well throughout. There's something so charming about the character designs, they're so goofy at times yet so in theme and always work.

A charming production, with an alright (allbeit not flawless) cast, an interesting although certainly rushed and hindered story set in a fantastic world partnered with great thematic expression and social commentary. It has its issues, but Its creativity and bravery shines through, say what you want about that final third but trying to fit all that in and salvaging something out of it is anything but souless and careless. Potential to have been an all timer, but settles for a respectful 7 or 8 out of 10.

Yes, its mid, average harem anime where cute anime girls do cute things and then your supposed to laugh. Its a 5 or 4/10 objectively. But nah this shit hit different.

THIS IS THE WORST CAST OF ANY SOL, ROMCOM, HAREM ANIME OF ALL TIME. One of the worst protags in media. stupidly inconsistent, unfunny, loud, obnoxious, cringe, one dimensional, boring and unpleasant to watch in every scene. Erika is, similarly, the most unenjoyable main girl in any sol,romcom or harem. She has literally 0 good personality traits. The managaka really cooked up the most undesirable person they could possibly conceive. There are episodes where shes just so stupidly childish spoilt and selfish that it just makes you angry. When the other girls are on scene she then becomes the happy airhead and is extremely obnoxious and just shouts (idk why either). Shes stupidly unfunny its RIDICULOUS. Sister (dont remember her name which is a pretty good definition of her character) is beyond forgettable. Stuck up, clingy selfish sister archetype as ALWAYS. Has romantic feelings for her brother because why not. She's working for erikas dad to help get them together...when she wants to be with him...make that shit make sense. Sagawara is competitve and smart and thats it, thats her character BUT is the best written character here, 2/10 character because shes not 1/10 like the rest. IDC enough about the sides to type individual notes but theyre all shit ESPECIALLY SHION EASILY TOP 10 WORST SIDE CHARS IN MEDIA HOLY FKN SHIT DID HE MAKE ME WANT TO END MYSELF.

One of the worst comedy's ive ever seen. Not even close. It is literally shout = funny, smart boy do something goofy = funny, erika is bad at hwk =funny, boy walk in on girl changing and she shout = funny. So stupidly childish that anyone above the age of 12 should find ZERO comedic relief in this show.

The plot is downright retarded. They introduce the whole find my brother thing and do nothing, the only drama ever created is when the characters lie for ZERO REASON and are scared of getting caught out, the whole switched at birth scenario is boring and provides nothing to the show, the MC beat Saga in stuff to get closer to confession being accepted is boring. Just awful.

My biggest problem with the show is the romance. THEY JUST SIMPLY DON'T GET IT. They start the show with MC already in love with sega, erika already having feelings for MC and sister having feelings for MC. WHERES THE ROOM FOR GROWTH. If the characters already know what they want, understand their feelings and know what they desire then whats the point in watching? The reason I love watching romances is because they can't rely on flashy fight scenes like shonen, its all about the characters. Yet the show basically starts with them finished. The point of a romance is NOT to see the cute moments of a couple and them have fun straight away, but its to see them be rewarded with these after completing their character arcs and after facing themselves and figuring out their own feelings. Clannad is a masterpiece in its own right, but Afterstory is perfect because all of the happy times are elevated by the fact you have to watch clannad where tomoya has to struggle with his family problems and sense of identity and motivation and Nagisa has to learn to live for herself and be more confident and they both fall in love because they both compliment eachother and help each other. YOU CANT JUST SKIP THIS PART OF A ROMANCE. ITS SO BRAINDEAD. ITS JUST GOING TO AMUSEMENT PARKS AND BEACHES AND CUTE ANIME GIRL MOMENTS ITS HOLLOW. THERE IS NO SUBSTANCE BEHINF ANYTHING. ITS TERRIBLE. IREDEEMABLE. GARBAGE. BORING. UNEVENTFUL. TERRIBLY WRITTEN. RAGE ENDUCING. SHIT.

A genuine clusterfuck of surface level ideas in a huge amalgamation of shit BUT with a slight, lowly glittering silver lining . Imagine you bake a cake but instead of sugar you use dirt, instead of milk you use piss and instead of eggs you use human shit, BUT at least it’s got some peng as fuck sprinkles on it. That is Tower of God.

Let’s go through the massive fucking issues with this show, and oh boy is there a lot of them, and why not start with the biggest one of them all, Bam. Fucking Bam. The show attempts to portray this man as the underdog hero who went against the rough and won against fate…which is completely fucking false.
1) gets the most powerful weapon in existence so far 2 mins into the show
2) naturally gifted as one of the strongest candidates
3) receives INSANE SPECIAL TREATMENT TO THE POINT THE SHOW LOSES ANY SENSE OF PURPOSE
4) is “innocent good boy” with no development to heighten the tragedy which was unnecessary
5) offers nothing the whole show until episode 12
6) his status as an irregular (which may or may not have an impact on him but it’s never truly explained thanks) is irrelevant as they were trying to beam him up so it’s not really he tried so hard, you don’t congratulate a man for walking through a door when it’s opened for him.
7) tropey and annoying
A truly terrible MC who deserves no where near the amount of love he gets (anime wise Atleast)

The rest of the characters. Dead family, no purpose in life, broke, bitchless, wants power. Many reasons that they want to climb the tower. SO WHY THE FUCK DID THEY DROP ALL OF THEM TO HELP FUCKING BAM. Why? How ON earth in the matter of days have they grown so affectionate for this kid over having a few meals with him. All tropes, none are enjoyable over a sustained amount of time (tracksuit guy and alligator maaaan had their moments) and generally terrible. Remember how the two princesses got in a scrap, vowed to kill each other and how it was their life missions to kill each other, and two mins later they’re best friends and working together? The orange princess kills whenever she needs to gain power, feels no loyalty, but now loves her fiend group and cries for Bam and goes to two funeral…within the space of an episode and a half? Yeah, this kinda shit happens a lot. They’re all expendable, tropey and shit as characters (bar one who is half of those sprinkles)

The fights are shit, need I say more? No tension, motion is sluggish and carry no excitement as they’re all usually wrapped up in one or two actions. A shame as I severely enjoy the art style, like a lot. Very good art style, but the execution of fights was poor at best.

The story is terrible. It’s a blatant rip off of the Hunter exams, which is fine for me. But you can’t just take the path test (door test in TOG) and replace the characters with these bozos as there’s no charm to it. The tower is interesting and starts out extremely bloodily, which was promising, but BAMS SPECIAL TREATMENT RUINS EVERYTHING. The bad guys end up liking bam and turning good, he’s in trouble he gets saved, he needs to win he’ll get carried. It loses its value and just becomes a Bam cock sucking fest. Also, what is the half baked villain story of the small blonde admin? It doesn’t get built on, left in the dark and comes across as counter productive as the first 9 eps he was helping bam etc. Although promising, the setting of the show is not utilised at all, becomes a never ending Cycle of protecting or helping bam and NOTHING HAPPENS FOR 12 FUCKING EPISODES!!! ITS TERRIBLE! WHY ARE WE SPENDING 2 FUCKING EPISODES IN A FUCKING WAITING LOBBY GOD FUCKING CHRIST !!!! Uneventful, wasted potential and boring.

The emotional beats ARE COMICAL. Lemme set the scene; Rachel, the saviour of bam and his only purpose in life, is tragically and potentially mortally stabbed in front of him. He proceeds to watch her bleed out. He then talks with his teacher and learns a new technique with his magi or whatever WHILE SHES FUCKING DYING AND THERES EVEN SCENES THAT PANS TO HER PUDDLE OF BLOOD EXPANDING. Anyway, he stops the baddie and curdles her in his arms. He says, “no Rachel…”. The baddie takes his knife and kills himself in spite off Bam (fair play I would too), and BAM STARTS WHAILING “NOOOOO!!!! HOOOOOOHHHHHHH!!”, starts crying and crying his name…WHILE RACHEL IS DYING IN HIS FUCKING HANDS. Okay well Atleast Rachel survives which he’ll be happy about, you know maybe now they’ve FINALLY REUNINTED he’ll spend some time with her or somethin-….HES HOSTING A FUCKING FUNERAL! FOR THE PERSON! WHO STABBED THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON TO HIM! BROUGHT RACHEL TO THE FUNERAL OF HER ATTACKER! AND IGNORES HER FOR HER ATTACKER FOR THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP…..WHAAAAAT THE FUUUUUUCK WAS THIS EPISODE!!????!?!?!?!?!?!

Ik, sounds terrible. But lemme be fair real quick. Kevin Penkin, what have you done wrong in you’ll life for a big studio to NOT take you up (bar Kyoto but VE was an unquantifiable entity). The hard carrying this man does is mad. The talent is crazy.

And secondly, and most importantly. Rachel. It’s fucking hilarious to me that the unanimous verdict on this show is “Fuck Rachel”. It truly makes me thank my high standards of anime to the point that I won’t dislike a character because “oh no, they hurt good boy bam, that’s naughty I don’t like you”. SHES THE ONLY CHARACTER WITH DEVELOPMENT. SHES THE ONLY CHARACTER WITH A STRONG CONVICTION. She is under NO OBLIGATION to change her ways for Bam like the rest of the cast. SHE CAN LITERALLY GAIN INFINITE POWER, but she’s expected to give that up for bam, some twerp who has chased her to the ends of the earth and forced his will on her? What, because he’s the “good boy” of the show? Who cares!? Fair fucking play, actual development, her reciting of events from her perspective was impactful and the only time I enjoyed the show. A honest to god 6/10 character AND the ONLY character to make me feel I didn’t waste 6 hours of my life span.

Enjoyed more than I should have. Chizuru is a goated waifu. Opening pretty good. Looks pretty nice at times. Kazuya sucks and continues to suck indefinitely. Relatively okay show, not good at all, but not bad either. Mid but enjoyable mid :D Might peep the manga lel

I watched the first ep and vowed id see it through for my stinker of the year, and boy did it stink the first 3 eps. Like i hated this shit

The comedy...i wouldnt wish xhaka to sit thorugh this, and thats saying something. When i tell you this show contains the literal worst fucking comedy i mean it. Please i implore you to watch this and even attempt to find a scene funny in any regard.
Kamiya is a enjoyable character compared to the rest, a 5 or 6/10 characters who i would willingly accept as a horimiya side back up extra characters, i liked her adequately.
The animation was good ig

However, i have a soft spot for this series. There are few shows so bad that i have to watch them in a ps party to make it through without losing my sanity, and I had my fun absoluitely maring this show relentlessly to my boys and some memes and funny inside jokes were made.

Look, I know its objectively a 5/6 out of ten, its just super average and mid, not funny but has its points where its okay (Kamiya eps for example), but i just hate it.

The fights are spectacular
The production is amazing
The ost is cracked
However, the characters suck - they're really boring and beyond average tropey characters. Super uninteresting.
The setting and plot is so boring - A gundam show set at school is as boring as it sounds. Just really boring, nothing happens for episodes at a time. I guess I like how all the different companies fight eachother behind the scenes for more influence and market share etc, and I like the concept of showing the politics and economic sides to gundams existences etc. but it felt way too much telling and not enough showing, because...

ALL THE NEGATIVES I JUST SAID DISSAPEAR WHEN THEY DO! THE LAST EPISODE WAS EVERYTHING THAT THIS SHOW SHOULD HAVE BEEN.
The fights are incredible, and a result of an interesting ploy set up by (Spoiler), and makes the most of the "eco-politics of gundams" side of the show
Changes multiple character dynamics and develops them in ways no one expected-really came out of nowhere and sets season 2 up PERFECTLY- a massive turn around right at the death

Was gonna be a 3/4 out of ten, but the final episode gave me enough validation to say that it can be 5. Extremely interested in watching season 2 and seeing how the story is going to play out after that episode. The fights and production are fantastic in their own regard, but the final episode also brought the characters and plot up massivelyto the point I can say- Meh, its not bad anymore.
