Synopsis

Fate Graphite lives miserably as a gatekeeper in a world where skills given at birth determine an individual's entire life. Afflicted by the seemingly harmful skill Gluttony, which makes him perpetually hungry, he is abused by the holy knights—the supposed protectors of the populace—who view him as a dreg on society due to his skill. However, Fate's destiny takes a dramatic turn after he kills an escaping injured thief. To his surprise, Gluttony activates, enhancing his stats and granting him new skills.

Following this epiphanic event, Fate receives a job offer from Roxy Hart, the only benevolent holy knight in the city, which he happily accepts. Eager to further explore Gluttony's true potential, he partners with a mysterious talking sword named Greed, who warns him that Gluttony is a taboo skill that breaks the logic of the world. Now forced to live a double life, Fate must slay monsters at night to satisfy his awakened appetite for souls, lest he go berserk and lose all chances at finding happiness.

This show is criminally underrated. Not sure where the hate is flowing from. Perhaps it transcends its trashy OP MC slop and into the realms of respectable anime like Toriko, Naruto, Bleach, and other highly sophisticated offerings.

First, to enjoy this, you have to turn your brain off. That should be a given, considering the genre. So, it should be no different than 99% of other animes. Second and despite its title, it's not an edgy villain tale. Finally, it has no harem or ecchi elements. That last one may emotional shake some viewers who are accustomed to le wacky bobs bouncing awry and red-faced ...

Mixed Feelings
It has “my first edgelord” vibes, like it has the red eye dark swordsman aesthetic and alone against the world mentality, but isn’t nearly as bleak or exploring the dark side of human nature as its peers.

Characters are kinda one-note, which also adds to the “my first edgelord” vibe, they each do their one thing and then either do it again or meander off.

The animation also drops off at times, never anything bad but none of the fight scenes are that active.

That being said, nothing’s inherently wrong with it, it’s fine, if this style is what appeals to you it’s ...

Berserk of Gluttony tries incredibly hard to be cool. This is supposed to be your edgy power fantasy that lets you see your worst enemies suffer hell ten times over. And what do you get? Hell, ten times over.

Fate, the main character, is able to communicate with his sword by exchanging thoughts with it. The author thought it would be a silly little joke to write a scene where Fate accidentally replies by speaking out loud instead of using telepathy. Wouldn't that be funny and embarrassing with other people around wondering why he is talking to a sword? No. This joke however is part of ...
