Sekaiichi Hatsukoi

After having to deal with jealousy from his co-workers for working under his father's name, prideful literary editor Ritsu Onodera is determined to establish himself in the industry. To accomplish this, he quits his job at his father's publishing company and transfers to Marukawa Publishing. But instead of being placed in their literary division, Ritsu finds himself working as the rookie manga editor for the Emerald editing department, a team that operates under extremely tight schedules in order to meet deadlines. There, Ritsu is introduced to the infamous editor-in-chief Masamune Takano, a persistent man who strives for results.

As it turns out, Takano is actually Ritsu's high school love, and it is the aftermath of that heartbreak has caused Ritsu's reluctance to fall in love again. Now with the two reunited after several years of separation, the reestablishment of their relationship is marked by Takano's vow to make Ritsu say that he loves him again.

Sekaiichi Hatsukoi follows three couples that are interconnected within the manga industry, with each being subject to the budding of first love.

Cute story, messy episode build and decent drawing. The 3 first episode contain "naughty" content, but rest of the serie they always fades it away.

They add past story, then jumps to different characters, then the present time, then jumps to a different characters which makes it very messy. I would personally prefer the other to be Saquels instead of being part of the Main anime..i only feels like "here is the Office Staff and their backstory, and they are all secretly gay for each other.. "

I do recommand this anime tho if youre into bl, but do look up the recommanded episode ... order.

The drawing started out weird the first 3 episodes but then it gets better.. or i got used to it haha..


Music is fine, I love how the created the intro and outtro but not so much fan of the music..

Mixed Feelings

Overall not bad but so many times the characters made me absolutely livid by being completely wish washy. I understand they have to act like they dont have feeling for one another but how can you drag it on for so long. Onodera start making me so mad everytime he was on screen. I started watching cause the premise seemed really good but the characters are really lacking. If they had little more depth or just a tiny more common sense i wouldve really felt like this couldve been big. There has to be a limit on how long you can drag on the ... situation.

This is my first review so please don't end me ;-;

I am purely basing this on watching the FIRST season of the anime alone, NOT the manga. I haven't read the manga, so I was pretty much "going into it blindly". Also this is my opinion, so don't think you shouldn't watch the show purely on this. You should watch the show to form your own opinion on it, maybe you will even enjoy it.

I will try to not spoil the story TOO much, but just in case, read at your own risk!

Im just gonna cut it to the chase and say that the ... series completely frustrated me. The beginning and the set-up of the story was completely fine, it was even fun. Though the more I watched the show, the less it began entertaining to watch, and it became like a chore to reach the end. When I did reach the end, I got completely frustrated with it. I get that they may want to keep the ending a bit open, because there is a second season. But the problem was that none of the characters showed a bit of development nor did their relationships between eachother.

I think the fact that the Takano tries to make Onodera fall in love with him again is a cute concept, but can he like not harass him while doing so. I get it they want to give fanservice, but I think you still need to make it a "oh that was a surprising kiss" and not "office harassment 101”. It just doesn’t seem like Takano loves Onodera, I have only seen the man give him ONE compliment throughout the entire show and it was a mediocre one. Adding to the last point, he never really smiled genuinely towards his love interest. I also hoped, while watching, that they may get some redemption, wishing they could finally have a normal conversation like adults (I mean they’re around 25, not teenagers). But nah, it’s just “I love you” and then harassment (to put it “lightly”). It annoys me, because their relationship starts to become toxic and obsessive.

The sidepairs came in, like the iceberg in front of the Titantic, out of nowhere and it sank the whole main story. They almost had no relation to the main story, only the fact that they had something to do with manga. Sidepairs are supposedly fun to watch, but these parts became the “biggest” chores throughout the show. They just weren’t interesting and they stayed bland. The triangle of doom between Yoshino, Hatori and Yanase was OK to watch. Hatori being Yoshino’s childhood friend and Yoshino thinking it’s weird to think of him romantically, is pretty realistic (Since he never saw him that way). At least he gives consent (for the 2nd kiss by the way, because the first kiss he was asleep, wow harassment). Yanase was confusing and quite irrational. Instead of telling his feelings like a normal person, Yanase decides to just pretty much harass Yoshino. Kisa and Yukina’s relationship just was not that well thought out. They knew eachother for like a week and then “I Love you”, like what-, that’s “pretty” quick. Randomly kissing the other while they just met was just, again what a surprise, harassment.

The whole pacing of the story was a mess, where I sometimes completely lost interest. Their relationships are very rushed and not thought out. I get it that it’s a Yaoi anime and it’s (mostly) about fanservice, but they can atleast get the story right. Instead of "rewarding” the viewer at a good point in the story, they use “I love you’s”s as an opportunity to show the one harassing the other. The problems in the relationship between the main characters, as well of the other two pairs, boils down to Poor Communication and not listening to eachother (pretty much no consent). I think a series is allowed to use this "method" to create tension in relationships, but using it every single time makes it boring and annoying to watch.

When I began watching the show, I was expecting a cute romantic-comedy, but it was just using harassment as the fanservice. It was just frustrating and their relationships seemed very rushed and not romantic at all. Maybe the manga has better pacing than the anime which would explain the rushing, since that’s sometimes the case with manga adaptations (I don’t know since I didn’t read it). I will watch the second season, because 1. I want to and 2. I read some reviews that there will be some development. So I hope it will get better.

I hope I haven't scared some people to not watch the show. I think everyone should watch a show before they judge, so you can give it a try if you want to. I tried to make the review light hearted, so I hope it’s not too heavy. I just really wanted to give an explanation to my low score. I might also edit my review and maybe add something after watching the second season.
