Ookami to Koushinryou II

Compared to the first season i was very disappointed. I was hoping for a second season that flowed the same as the first season and it simply did not. I wont go into too much detail but literally half of the season they are in one town, just one town! And just trying to make one deal!

I was hoping for alot more on the road travel and scenery. Not a lot of romance, dragged out scenarios, over drama in my opinion. If a season 3 comes out maybe i will feel better but at the moment i am sorely disappointed.

I had very high expectations for this anime since I had heard nothing but praise for it. And while I was watching it I was waiting for something to blow me away, but even after two seasons nothing did. If I had to describe this show in one word, it would be boring. I can't just chalk the pace of this show up as a deliberate one like I would with an anime like "Monster". Instead I have to say that it was uneventful and forgettable, and that was my biggest problem with it. Problems aside for a moment, this anime ... didn't have any areas it really succeeded in in the first place. Aside from the concept which is unique and its pretty much unprecedented focus on economics, at least in anime, all aspects of this show are average or worse, except for the voice acting (I can't speak for the Dubbed version however).
The soundtrack fit well, but many of the tracks were overused, and nothing stands out. The animation and art style were standard. It didn't do anything wrong in that area, its just that even the scenes with action were not visually impressive. Most of this show is conversation and just the animation of the characters' mouths moving, nothing to write home about. The story is not all that captivating, especially the lazy, or if you are optimistic, "open" ending with a pitiful payoff. The interactions between characters are somewhat interesting, but there is not much development for the main two characters who are still not fleshed out enough for an anime where the characters are the main focus. I won't lie, it was a chore to sit through this show, no offense to the people that enjoyed it. It felt like a waste of time watching this, and I cannot help but feel that I've missed something.

this was a very good series great medieval theme well portrayed it felt very natural. i liked both of the characters i feel they were very interesting. there was a huge issue though... the ending was horrible!!! the relationship progression was very bad. i have faith that the light novels are fantastic although i would hardly recommend you watch this anime. it is simply lacking on the romance aspect. i still have anxiety from this anime... so if you like to feel sick and unresoved after watching an anime this is for you. just don't bother unless you are willing to read the light novels.

Ookami to Koushinryou (Spice and Wolf) was one of the most boring anime I have seen.It is without question the most tedious anime I've watched since I got back into anime three years ago.


The show does have its positives; first off I love the art style of the show and for a show that came out over a decade ago the animation is pretty solid. I like the premise of the show and the two main characters Holo and Lawrence, who do have a solid dynamic.

There are a few funny moments in ... the show and some of the drama worked.
Also I enjoyed the first arc of the second season.

The show was regarded as one of the best fantasy, romance adventure anime of all time and it lacked in all three areas.

The main problem I have with Spice and Wolf is the pace. Across two seasons there are only 25 episodes but the pace is so slow that it felt like I was watching 250 episodes. The slow pace of the show made it tiring to sit through and I remember feeling so board out of my mind I asked myself why I was still watching.

I understand that romantic dramas usually have a show pace however, compared to works such as Titanic or Game of Thrones before season 8 the difference is vast. This is due to the characters, while I enjoyed the dynamic of Holo and Lawrence I was never invested in anything they did on screen.

The initial premise of the show was nothing out of the ordinary but it completely falls off the rails and has no real payoff. Most of the side characters are completely forgettable and feel more like fodder to fill time.

The show predominantly focuses on political/business based dialogue, but the dialogue is generic and does not engage the audience. The dialogue is also repetitive to a ridiculous degree.

I did not have any emotional investment in most of what happened on screen.
The musical score was mostly forgettable; I do not remember a single theme or song from the show.

I know that Spice and Wolf is beloved by many anime fans but this show just feel flat. This show lacked in a lot of areas. The romance was never capitalized on, the fantasy is practically non existent and this was by no means an adventure.

Overall, Spice and Wolf is the worst anime I have seen this year and I do not recommend watching it. I finished the show about a month ago and have not rewatched a single clip of the show.

If you are a type that likes to watch romance, then I do not recommend you to not watch this anime just yet.

I consider romance anime romantic if they are focused on romance. However this anime has the exact story set up as Maoyuu Maou Yuusha.

Don't get me wrong, the story is good....its just that it's really boring an lengthy. I have watched the complete series twice, so I say that I have a pretty good knowledge about the anime as a whole.

As seen, the anime is NOT focused on romance, if you have a liking towards marketing, then this is a ... perfect anime for you! But the anime is mainly focused on the "marketing" with very few romantic moments. I would consider this anime as adventure, because they travel to a lot of places to trade.

This anime is so frustrating because it holds so much potential, because the story is good. If the creators added more romantic moments, then I would consider this as a romance anime. However...the anime is really boring, it's literally trade, marketing, gets in trouble, trade, some romance, trade, trade,trade, trade,trade, trade.....etc. The worst thing is that the trade usually has an insane amount of dialogue so there are literally 4 episodes in a row where it's just talking......But hey don't let me stop you! This anime has a high score so it must be entertaining to watch for most people!

Continuing on from a strong first season, the second season of Spice and Wolf takes a step back with some unfortunate storytelling mistakes, but still retains the core of what made the first season so excellent, the strong lead characters and their relationship.

Unfortunately, that relationship is where many of the season's plot problems lie, as both major arcs involve the prospect of Holo being sold off to be the bride of an unlikable minor character. Perhaps one of these would have been fine, but twice is unfortunate, and replicates a problem from the first season of using familiar storylines multiple times in the same ... season. The bigger problem lies with the first arc involving the precocious teenage merchant Amarty. The story is overly melodramatic, teases an outcome that anyone with a brain knows won't happen, and worst of all, completely sidelines Holo for multiple episodes. She and Lawrence are kept apart far too much in this season when their relationship is the primary attraction of the series.

Bottom line, season 2 is still a solid watch, and worth checking out if you enjoyed season 1, but it certainly isn't as good. If you like watching Lawrence and Holo together, you'll get more of that here, but it's overshadowed too often by plot missteps and other issues that hold it back from being on the level of the first season.

Oh man i had high expectation after the first season, which i rated 9/10 by the way. The journey of lawrence and holo continue and i feel like the first half of the second season, is why i didn't rate this even lower. It made sense at first, but pass the halfway of this 2nd season, it feels like our 2 main protagonist lost their way and development. Not gonna lie, it let me with a bitter taste and that ending was a big MEH. At times, i just couldn't bare the unreasonable decisions made and expected more. They went through so much but it's ... like they started over and tried to redeem it all at the very end, but poorly made. I understand the slow build up of certain anime series but i can't bare characters that don't grow from their mistakes.

Honestly if it wasn't for the first half of this season and the praise i give to the first one, i'd rate it about 3 or 4 at best. It makes me sad to see a loop of situations ending up the same, when it could have been so much more. And yea (kind of a spoiler), the cliffhanger of season 2 got me very dissapointed.

The second season definitely felt pretty convoluted and confusing. The anime already has a habit of not explaining things very well or having very unclear and hard-to-follow dialogue, but the whole economic aspect just makes everything worse. There were so many times I had to go back while watching after not initially understanding some random piece of dialogue. Sure, Holo and Lawrence speak in rather unorthodox ways compared to how people speak now, but that wasn't the issue. Many times the dialogue would feel random and unexplained. I'd go to the sub to see if it was any better at explaining and it was just ... blatantly different. On top of the dialogue, the plot was really hard to follow, despite the subpar explanations. Oftentimes characters would randomly do things for seemingly no apparent reason, only for it to be supposedly explained later, but the explanations were hard to understand. Sure, there is value in not directly telling the audience what is happening, but in that case it should be more or less easily deducible, which it was not. On top of that, the plot felt very random and it felt like even the author didn't really know what was going on, but hoped the audience would just go along with it. Despite that, it was still entertaining to watch and most of what was done well in the first season also carried on into this one.
