As someone who has watched all seasons of A Certain Magical Index and A Certain Magical Railgun quite recently, I was left confused by this third season, and think it is a shame to see it decline. I can't imagine recommending this to someone who wasn't already a big fan of the anime series at least, and I'm sure even fans of the manga would be frustrated and perplexed after watching this adaptation. I don't like to disparage anime, but this was a mess of a show. Foremost, there were far too many characters being introduced to keep track of on top of the already
...
extensive cast, which resulted in each character getting an insignificant amount of screen time for them to really develop. Not only that, but with the collision of both the "science" and "magic" sides, there were simply too many rules and deus ex machinas out of left field. The anime expects the viewer to accept and understand the events that are happening on screen, despite their incoherence, and because of that, much of the scenes lack impact. Especially later in the anime, during the major action scenes, there was inconsistent, questionable animation quality, although the action scenes really could look swell at times. The OST was forgettable, but at least the sound effects and voice acting were what we have come to expect from this series. I'm not sure how well the series will be able to recover from this season.

This series has a completely unique art style which is instantly recognizable. It might be a bit strange, but because of that, it stands out. It has overall great animation. The character models often move dynamically during conversions rather than staying rigid apart from mouth flaps, which I thought made the show rather engaging. The animation during action scenes is very fluid as well. Some of the character designs are not what I would define as all that cool, but the voice acting is all around great and easily makes up for that. Reigen's voice actor gave another exemplary performance, and we actually got
...
to hear some emotion in Mob's voice this season as his character developed.
The main plot doesn't really start until the second half of the show, so it was rather episodic for the first six or so episodes. That is too say, the first half was like a ESP flavored slice of life, and I do not mean that in a negative way. The action is definitely the highlight of this series for me, but the other elements are still strong. For example, it could be cleverly funny at times. The final episode was a spectacle, and reminded me of something out of One Punch Man. The ending was solid too, it tied off loose ends and gave closure. I Hope to rewatch this in the future especially if a third season comes out. I can recommend this show to nearly anyone who enjoys anime.

I rarely give things the time of day to re-watch them, and when I do, I usually don't appreciate them as much as I remembered, but Parasyte is an exception to that. This was one of the first anime I watched, so I was expecting my opinion of it to be diminished after revisiting it two years later, however, I still thought it was a great watch. Given that this was put out by MADHOUSE, one of the biggest anime studios out there, I guess that shouldn't be much of a surprise, as they rarely put out any junk. Subjectively, Parasyte does most things very
...
well. The story and concept are very original, as is the art. The action and animation are very fluid, and it is clear a lot of effort went into that area. The only shortcoming I noticed animation wise was an overuse of CG crowds, but they were always in the background and there was never anything all that offensive. Some people have complained about the soundtrack for the dubstep element, and while I agree that it is not always the most suited to some of the scenes in Parasyte, it is at the very least different from the average action soundtrack. The characters in Parasyte are about as realistic as you could ask for in a Sci-Fi anime, and seem to have believable motivations. If you haven't seen this show already, and you don't mind a bit of edge with your anime, do yourself a favor and watch this show. It's not a bad starting point for those who don't watch anime either.

As a fan of the Monogatari series, this is most likely my least favorite entry. The direction style, art, soundtrack, and characters are the same ones we have come to know over several seasons, and this is still without a doubt a studio Shaft anime, but the format of this series is different. Monogatari has always been fairly episodic, but Koyomimonogatari, with its 12 minute run time per episode, is in its own league. The timeline of the episodes is not completely chronological, and there is not enough time for events to really build up, so the plot takes a backseat. Each episode is entirely
...
standalone, apart from the last two, so the plot is not continuous enough to leave much of an impact. Most of the episodes can be summed up as a few minutes of problem solving followed by the problem's solution and some light philosophy to wrap it all up. The condensed format did not take away from the usual banter and light philosophy in my opinion though. If you enjoy that part of Monogatari, I think you will enjoy this. Just do not expect a lot of action from it.
The season operates in a way that assumes the viewer has seen the previous seasons, and given that this series can be a bit confusing in general, I do not recommend that anyone watch Koyomimonogatari without watching the others first, unless of course being confused is your goal. I'm not sure exactly what the purpose of this brief season was, but it felt like the series was being milked to me. By no means was this a bad show, it just didn't stack up to my expectations.

Essentially, SSSS.Gridman is a "monster of the week" format mecha anime, with a bit of a curve ball for the overall plot. This is something that I would only recommend to fans of mecha, trigger, or CG, and probably won't be something that I would consider re-watching. I had to give this show a 6 for a few reasons, but I would have given it a 6.5 if there was the option.
The opening theme by Oxt is a complete ear worm with a filthy bass line. The soundtrack wasn't too shabby either.
The CG was goofy in my opinion, but if CG decreases a project's production
...
costs enough for it to get made, then its not such a terrible compromise. Good animation, especially the backgrounds, apart from the CG.
This anime was a bit over the top, and was very reminiscent of Tenga Toppa Gurren Laggan for that reason. (They even referenced/copied the drill break and Kamina's sunglasses.) I wish they didn't call out attack names constantly, but it wouldn't have been the same without that.
The Kaiju/gridman's design felt a little underwhelming, especially considering the series is an original and not trying to remain faithful to the source material or anything. Gridman's style definitely borrowed a little too heavily from Gundam.
The show's concept was interesting and pretty original, as far as I know, and sacrificed being well explained for the sake of not over-explaining things to death.
Voice acting/casting and character design were well done. I can usually find at least one character that irritates me to no end in every anime, but the characters in Gridman were mostly reasonable.
The pacing was consistent, and with only 12 episodes, this is a quick watch.

I had very high expectations for this anime since I had heard nothing but praise for it. And while I was watching it I was waiting for something to blow me away, but even after two seasons nothing did. If I had to describe this show in one word, it would be boring. I can't just chalk the pace of this show up as a deliberate one like I would with an anime like "Monster". Instead I have to say that it was uneventful and forgettable, and that was my biggest problem with it. Problems aside for a moment, this anime
...
didn't have any areas it really succeeded in in the first place. Aside from the concept which is unique and its pretty much unprecedented focus on economics, at least in anime, all aspects of this show are average or worse, except for the voice acting (I can't speak for the Dubbed version however).
The soundtrack fit well, but many of the tracks were overused, and nothing stands out. The animation and art style were standard. It didn't do anything wrong in that area, its just that even the scenes with action were not visually impressive. Most of this show is conversation and just the animation of the characters' mouths moving, nothing to write home about. The story is not all that captivating, especially the lazy, or if you are optimistic, "open" ending with a pitiful payoff. The interactions between characters are somewhat interesting, but there is not much development for the main two characters who are still not fleshed out enough for an anime where the characters are the main focus. I won't lie, it was a chore to sit through this show, no offense to the people that enjoyed it. It felt like a waste of time watching this, and I cannot help but feel that I've missed something.
