Smile of the Arsnortoria has some absolutely gorgeous art and detailed animation which LIDENFILMS puts on fall display in sakuga morning glory right from the word go. Ashram academy city is a magical finishing school that teaches young ladies magic as well as proper societal etiquette expected from proper ladies and it is bursting with colour, charm and personality. It is impossible to look at this show and not be utter spell bound… at first…

Unfortunately, all of the production values are wasted when the script is about as interesting as a lukewarm bowl of oatmeal. It's cute girls doing cute things such ... as… drink tea… catch bugs and… solve the mystery as to why main protagonist Arsnotoria (who literally cannot do anything without putting in what seems to be an enormous amount of effort) can’t smell things good anymore… I’m not joking, those are the plots of the first three episodes. They’re just as excruciatingly slowly paced and about as narratively hooking as you can imagine.
The show does threaten an interesting narrative plot twist in the form of cutaways to what seem to be an evil wizard army brutally murdering soldiers in order to obtain… something I guess? In the beginning these scenes did keep my interest and I wanted to see where the shows plot was going. A theme of ‘good times can’t last forever’ seemed to await the group of magical moé blobs as they could be thrusted into a magical war.
However, it has been four episodes. The plot is still at the starting line, and I just do not care anymore. My interest in these characters have all but fizzled and my patience for some narrative pay off or at least a magic dual or something has dried.

In fairness I can see this shows appeal and I absolutely adore it from a production stand point. If you’re the kind of person who can sit through magical school, LITERAL slice of life bullshit then you may make it through enough episodes to find out whether or not the show delivers on what it’s setting up. I however, will not waste my time as it is clear that Smile of the Arsnortoria does not respect it.

Arsnotoria is one of the biggest teases I’ve seen in recent memory. For 12 weeks, we were bombarded with flashing red “warning” sequences hinting at some bigger, darker aspect of the story that just never came to fruition.

While I did genuinely enjoy girls doing cute things, going on adventures and just interacting with each other, I struggle to understand the point in foreshadowing a more serious story every episode for 30 seconds and then never connecting it to the main story and characters. It seemed like a massive missed opportunity.

In terms of what we did get in the story, Arsnotoria was a great way ... to cap off a really crazy Wednesday morning of seasonals. The girls were lovely and their adventures every week had me dying. It’s a very simple plot, but a rewarding one. I enjoyed getting to know all of the girls and their various personalities and quirks. It really did feel like we were right there with them.

When the show was announced and I saw designs from Ootsuka sensei, I had extremely high hopes for this series and while the story may not have lived up to that, I loved the work he did on the art. As you’d expect from his designs, the girls are colourful and have some really unique designs. Certainly a pleasure to look at weekly.

There’s really not much else to say about this show. Cute girls, cute designs, subpar plot that clearly is trying to push you to go play the gacha game to get the real story, etc. I did really enjoy watching it and I will miss this world, but the main antagonists of the universe could have been introduced properly which would have added a lot more to this story.

Sniff, sniff. What's that I smell? Mediocrity? Boringness? From a mobage adaptation that only exists to sell its IP in Japan and not the West? Hmm, smells about right of a rotten egg.

The motive of mobage adaptations is to sell its narrative to fans, but this poses a big problem. 99% of the time, the mobages are region-locked so people elsewhere will not get to enjoy what it has to offer, but often at times this is counter-intuitive that the adverse effect is stronger than all the marketing effort has to offer. And in this season, the only mobage adaptation this season that's in the ... form of Nitroplus and Good Smile Company's Warau Arsnotoria is at best, a sleeper-fest.

Right from the get-go, only one thing will strike similar to just about any anime fan, and you need not look far than the characters themselves, designed by the one and only Shinichiro Ootsuka, the original character designer and illustrator of one of the most celebrated source materials of all time: Re:Zero. The closest to this will be in the form of 1 of the main 5 girls, which are called Pentagrams in the Little Witch Academia-like premise in the magical academic city of Ashram, with Mell being pretty much a carbon copy of Petra, even down to the plus-shaped eye corneas.

In the interest of time, this is just your standard stereotypical CGDCT, Slice-of-Life fare about girls living out their school lives imbued in magic and fun, one that shows a lot of the light-hearted side of the mobage and shows only a sliver of the dark segments. However, this is exactly the modus operandi of how mobage adaptations work, and honestly, I'm glad that we aren't seeing much "The Animation" shows due to the fact that it isn't worth marketing to the rest of the world which will indefinitely not make any profit for the original creators at all. It just isn't a viable work from a business standpoint, and this is the reality pertaining to the miniscule popularity of the established IP that must be greenlit to think of more avenues to draw in audience which would bring about sales. Sorry, ain't gonna happen with this one.

I really wanted to love the Pentagram group of girls with the sniffing Arsnotoria "Tori" having the signature cowlick, the playful "Little Al"-berta, "Pica"trix and Mell, along with the mature feeling "Abra"melin. But the antics, as well as the plot dragging towards the final stretch is the straw that broke the camel's back for me, though you may feel the same or otherwise. The only thing that's worth that love is the very happy-go-lucky sounding OP (which involves the 5 girls), which is a pleasant surprise and a really good one at that. The same unfortunately isn't true for the ED, which is actually BAND-MAID's guitarist/vocalist Miku Kobato and her Cluppo solo project providing very rich sounding vocals, that try as it might to please it only serves as like fluttering feathers in the sky.

At the end of the day, it is what it is: a mobage adaptation, and it's an instant turn-off unless you're just barely acquainted with the source game to know what to expect. Just pass it up, this show ain't worth your time, only when it deserves your nap time to sleep in absolute comfort.

Arsnotoria resemblance to Sagiri is too similar that if I show Arsnotoria to some people,there's 98% possibility they will say that she is Sagiri.

All of that aside Warau Arsnotoria Sun is not just an anime that known cause the resemblance of one of it's character to another anime character.

Warau Arsnotoria is another cute girl doing cute stuff,since it's an anime adapted from an action RPG mobile game that barely even known outside Japan we can't really expect a ... deep engaging story,the best we can get is an anime adaptation that focused on the lighthearted side of the mobile game and so far it does,sure there's the brutal swordsman scene slipped here and there but it doesn't bother me nonetheless.

The other thing that obviously a major upgrade is the voice acting,the mobile game is not fully voice acted but here I can hear all the chara voice all the time,and that's is already fulfilling enough for me.

The animation is the same as Re:Zero light novel and I LOVE IT,Shinichirou Ootsuka is one of my favorite character designer and he still nailed it here.

All character is lovable and I believe everyone that haven't drop this show definitely ain't dropping cause of how cute and lovable the character is.

Overall,a very enjoyable CGDCT,can't really say it's recommended since most people can find it pretty boring but if you happen to have a cheap taste like me,go ahead

Imagine that one episode of Lucky Star where they talk about chocolate coronets, but instead stretched out to 18 minutes with a sudden swerve into hyper-violence starring completely different characters in a completely different artstyle, and you have Warau Arsnotoria Sun! Perhaps the ultimate example of Cute Girls Doing Nothing in the Reiwa era.

For me personally, I love the super comfy vibes the show brings every week. And very helpfully and hilariously, the arrival of the Knights is always preceded by a big "Warning" label so you can totally skip them if all you want to see is Kuno Misaki making strange noises. And by ... sheer luck I am also a fan of the latter, and moreso than any other show this season, there is a lot of Kuno Misaki making strange nosies. It's absolutely adorable. I know it adds absolutely nothing to the story or characters, but I am not watching this show for thoughtful character development or a great plot, I watch this show to relax and listen to Kuno Misaki.

At the end of the day, this show is still a mobage ad, but as far as ads go it's a pretty bad one since I have zero intention of even picking up the mobage if the girls are gonna be fighting the knights. The anime focusing entirely, and I mean, entirely on the Cute Girls Do Nothing aspect is certainly bold at least.

While the out-of-place hyperviolence has no place in this show, it does get one final hilarious payoff at the very end, and upon realizing what happened, I broke and just started laughing like a maniac. LIDENFILMS pulled a fast one under us and I was kicking myself for not realizing it earler.

Warau Arsnotoria Sun is tough to recommend, as even by CGDCT standards it is lacking in humor and character. But if you just wanna relax or put something in the background, or even listen to Kuno Misaki's soundbank, this anime will be a treat.

Personally, I do like slice of life anime, and I do think this anime was cute.
However, since it's clearly just promotion for a mobile game westerners can't play, I can't be sure if I can recommend it to people.

I'm pretty sure this anime is based on life before the plot of the game starts.
Since all of the anime is just the daily life of these magical girls, going to class, playing games, and eating snacks.
It's very clear, that life outside of their comfy school life is not good, but are they going to talk about that? No, no they aren't,
you have to play the ... game for that.

The art, animation, and music was all very nice in my opinion.
But plot? There isn't really one, just cute girls doing cute things.

So maybe just watch this for something to do to waste time.

This show is terrible. The plot moves at a snail's pace, the animation is cute in the beginning but over time you'll notice it is quite stiff, and there is not script, only cute girls eating scones. It was fun for the first episode, got dull by the second, and the following 10 were a hell of waiting for things to improve.
Interleaved are random action scenes by an inquisition that do not pay off at all. I am not sure there is going to be a sequel but I am not watching it.
Don't waste your time with this, go watch Lucky star instead.
Also I ... loved Puri:Kone and thought this was gonna be the same vibes, but it wasn't.

I recommend this if you enjoy "slice of life". Wish the genre is fixed for this show, it's not marketing to the right audience, and I would've never run into this, if it weren't for me trying out new stuff.
Most people dislike this because of it's a remake of a game, and maybe have some types of expectation, but from someone just watching an "unknown show" perspective, this is comparable to most "slice of life" type of story telling, it's not grand, but it's not that awful either, I watched it as a story of magical school stuff in a "slice of life" genre mindset. ... It's enjoyable, lighthearted, and nice visual. If they just left out the none related part, this show would've got better rating from me. It made it very awkward.

It should be illegal for a crappy game adaptation to have such good animation and visuals.

I guess I don't have anything else to say. This show is boring. Outside of the beautiful visuals, backgrounds, scenery, and fluid movement is basically nothing. It's generic CGDCT stuff with some small edgy stuff that doesn't seem to really impact the actual storyline. What a waste of production.

I wish I could say more, but what can I say about four generic girls in a generic magic academy doing generic girl stuff? I guess if I really had to give an impression on the characters, Little Alberta reminds ... me of Rikka from Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! if she actually had powers, and then there's like, the generic energetic girl that acts on her desires and is probably the closest thing towards being a boke and creating any semblance of anything interesting happening. Finally, we have the aristocratic blond girl archetype that obviously ends everything with -wa (わ), but apparently isn't that stuck-up or high and mighty, so she barely has a personality. Then we have the star student that might as well not exist, along with the sniff girl.

There's some sort of magic stuff happening, but it might as well not exist for the lack of detail that the show provides. As expected of a game adaptation, there's little to no engagement or attempt at creating a good story or characters.

Okay, by all metrics this should be a terrible show, a gacha game advertisement that has no direction in what exactly it was trying to tell or say. However, I have to personally admit, I am such a sucker for the genre that is slice of life "cute girls doing cute things" that I think my brain was melted by moe and I started to actually, unironically enjoy this.

The smile of arsnotoria is split into 2 different segments, the main show, which is "cute girls in a magic school having tea parties", and the occasional cut away of seemingly evil bishonen knights going around ... murdering what they deem as "heretics". I strongly suspect that there was probably some form of internal conflict of interest, in which the anime director JUST wanted to make a CGDCT show, but was obligated to include the segments with the knights to be more accurate to the mobile game; which isn't even available in English, at the time of writing this. This doesn't mean that a gacha adaptation has to be bad; Princess Connect's anime was released to international audiences before the mobile game was localized by Crunchyroll, and it was a surprise hit, with the anime still being arguably more popular than the actual game, in the west at least. Same goes for the likes of Uma Musume: Pretty Derby, in which the game was never released outside of Japan.

Overall, this show just lacks direction on what kind of story, goal, or message it was going for, but it makes up for it in doses of pure 100% refined...moe. Re: Zero character artist Shinichiro Otsuka did the designs for the main girls and aaahhhh my heart...Tori-chan and ko-aru-chan sugoku kawaii~! But on a serious note, it's got good animation and incredibly cute girls doing cute things, but it IS pretty aimless and teases you of something more, but ultimately fails to deliver. Perhaps this was meant to be a prologue for the mobile game, but we'll have to see if that will actually be good or not, should it even get a western release.

I would definitely ONLY recommend this show to fellow connoisseurs of cute girls doing cute things; otherwise you'll be incredibly bored and let down for sure.

quite astonishingly and not-all-too surprising; it is Boring.
and that could just be fine, really. but this anime does not manage to do more than that.

plot and sub-plot (or whatever that was) are at complete disconnect with each other.
It makes no sense whatsoever, does not manage to create suspense, isn't properly resolved.

I wouldn't care to know that there even was a game to begin with when I'm just watching,
but that seems to be required for inferring the meaning of the sub-plot, or could it ... possibly be bad writing? hmm.


Animation and voicing/singing are all good.

Sound/music shows are okay. Opening theme starts off fine and is sensibly upbeat, which is nice.
Subjectively, I did not find this op theme in particular appealing, almost too hectic, not pleasant. oh well.
Ending theme is good.

Obviously, this anime is borrowing stuff as might be expected. It scarcely adds something new to it that actually makes sense.
cannot recommend for that reason, but if you just want to mindlessly watch a (slice of life) teatime simulation that is not all too magical and where you can easily forget about all the earlier episodes (IMO), with just some wonky 'adventure' per episode, it could be passable. Still something like little witch academia is much much better.

This is an anime that rewards patience and a calm mind. This is not an action show; the plot is minimal. That is the case with the Monogatari franchise as well: a series in which story matters far less than presentation.

The artwork is gorgeous. The cute girls are very cute, and it matters little that what they do most is sit around, have tea and baked goods, and chat. There is just something about how it's done that makes this series work.

The impending doom of the evil, murderous men that pop up now and then adds an edge to the show that cuts through any ... possible treacley-ness. Week by week, we wait for something horrific to befall the girls.

In the end, we really do not know who or what the girls are or their purpose. Maybe there'll be a season two that explains things, but that would be boring. This is a show like Hidamari Sketch: I'll rewatch to simply enjoy a respite from the noise & clutter of daily life. It's lovely to look at, and every episode left me refreshed. Even the final one.

Those who are expecting some cool magic animations and fight scenes are not allowed in this anime please go back to your shows do not come here it because i am fully dissappointed of this anime after watching a long waiting to till the end but find nothing here ,

it is smell really boring, it breaks of our curiosity, all expectations were burst in this anime ,this story didn't have an ending and not even have a explainable version please don't expect anything from this anime ,it just anime adaptation that's all i not even sense a story of that smiling in all episodes that ... girl is simply smell the snacks and tea in all episodes ,even the pentagrams classes didn't show to our eyes but this anime is come under action genre anyone give me explanation please?
