Hyouken no Majutsushi ga Sekai wo Suberu

I effing hate this show to the core, it stinks and reels its way to the Isekai trash bin on an easy approach off the anime runway.

As Gordon Ramsay would say: "Bloody hell, here we go again." The desire for people to fill the AniManga scene with more generic Isekai/fantasy trash, I don't really understand the appeal of sadists like these to try and come up with "unique" LN-like titles for anime adaptations, simply because they are THAT popular in Japan. And people would LOVE the freak hell to pick out even the most blatant of generic works, no matter who was writing it, no ... matter who were the target audience for the shows, and absolutely no matter what was earned after the post ordeal with the anime on Blu-Ray sales. Case in point: novelist Nana Mikoshiba's Hyouken no Majutsushi ga Sekai wo Suberu a.k.a The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World.

Immediately, you can already tell of the red flags that this show unwittingly admits of the same tropes all over again: the hero (or some kind of strong entity) getting reincarnated somehow into another world or just laying low because he/she is allowed to, to then only resurface later on; the typical school academy-based magic and land of a waifu simulator where the MC appeals to all girls wanting a slice of him; the generic evil villain organizations/groups that wreak havoc for absolutely no reason at all other than to expose the hero out for who he/she is, and other weird shit that does NOT make ANY sense at all.

The TL;DR for this show (because I don't find it worthy to display the splendour of generic-sity): MC is Ray White. He's the Iceblade Sorcerer. Tired and frustrated of a life-prong war, he retreats back to school, wanting to experience life as that of a typical student: going tn class, hanging out with friends, joining absurd clubs, participating in tournament arcs that showcase his OP-ness, fight the most generic of evil with good. And the cycle repeats itself over and over again to more cringeworthy and unappealing aesthetics that the Average Joe can ever want to comprehend, much less accept the fact that not everyone can be Misfit of Demon Academy's Anos VoldiGOAT. He/She's just some generic high class-rate position who just wants a second life at experiencing ordinary things, that's no wrong at all, until the wayward evil do an expose to finally showcase that "I am this and that" and expect the audience to be shocked and wowed at the reveal. No. No, no, no, no, no. We've seen too much to experience trash, which Geoff Thew of Mother's Basement phrased this show to the T as such: a dumbfounded version of the Irregular at Magic High School, dubbed the Irregular at Glass Reflection High School.

Even equally as dumb as it can be, are the characters. Almost everything that you can note down of Isekai trash can be found here: the Protag-kun Ray White with abs to match his Onegai Muscle-loving roommate Evi Armstrong by joining a muscle club and flexing their thin, but dispropionate body formation (like, why, what is this author trying to smoke here); the dandere Amelia Rose who has a knack for Ray's attention being an awful weak disposition of her own living being, only to have a cop-out by improving herself when attached to Ray; the deredere half-elven girl Elisa Griffith that follows Ray like his loyal right-hand man and has no faults to a degree; the tsundere of Claris Cleveland being just simply jealous of his presence in tyring to appeal to her; and last but not least, the kuudere gardening club member Rebecca Bradley who seems kinda mute, but has a lot going off in her mind to require Ray's help in extracting the evil group "Eugenics" using brains as their experimental focal point in transforming into dangerous beasts. Yeah, I couldn't even make this shit up even if I tried. I have to admit that seeing the girls wound up themselves around Ray to improve their selves, it's not bad at all and displays some fun, but that's my only praise when the scenarios just click and produces eureka moments for me to say: "Darn, this is good!". It's just everyday dumpster fire that I'm willing to consume and bash it for all I care throughout its existence.

Yes, this show NEEDS one VERY NEW studio to make a mark as its first anime on the docket. But if you're well-versed in the scene of the anime industry, new studios like Cloud Hearts are just the branch-out portions for their main primary/parent studio, which in this case, gets its assistance and supervision from Yokohama Animation Laboratory, the studio behind Miru Tights and Tensai Ōuji no Akaji Kokka Saisei Jutsu a.k.a The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt. By knowing how the main parent studio's works are like, Yokohama Animation Laboratory's works are not the finest, though it seems like in Cloud Hearts's case that this show looks kinda generic, but ugly as heck with character stem lines being very inconsistent at best, sometimes thin or thick. And yes, borrowing staff from the main studio is the new standard when it comes to distinguishing how the production is like, which is totally subpar at best.

The music is the make-or-break point for any show (at least it is for me), and God forbid that I actually hear one of the worst OSTs in a very long while. I seriously don't know what it is about this musical project Sizuk, but the OP kinda sucks big time for being so obnoxiously repetitive, and the musical notes in here just want to make my ears bleed out. You want to know what's worse? Utilizing all of the fanservice moments in the ED, because that's how you know that the show cannot get too generic enough to throw all hands on deck and just simply say: "Guys, we couldn't find anything better, so enjoy watching the lead girls in sexual orientations if we can slot some, because that's our gift to you for lasting throughout each and every trashy episode of ours." Also, the ED being sung by Maaya Uchida, I'd swear to God that that's not her voice at all, until I have to accept the reality that it's a waste of a song of immense vocals.

Goddamn, this show knows its trash, that's handled by a 3rd-rate studio and a new one to boot (that I'm legitimately worried for next Winter's Sasayaku You ni Koi o Utau a.k.a Whisper Me a Love Song), what a false start down the rubbish dump that it should belong to. There is fun to be had, that's if you can handle cringe at its most intense and immense, I'll guarantee that you feel it in every inch of your soul and bones. Stay away from this show if you want to engage your sanity back, because I've lost mine in so many shows this season. And while this show isn't the worst of all, that's a track record I'll remember for the rest of my life.

Honestly. Do not get the point of this show.

We come off, with it looking like some generic dating sim, with how they did character introductions to the show, as if they did that on purpose, in order to tell you, who they are, but also with how it was handled, make you think that the MC can go in this path, or that path, depending on choices.

Story and characters: 4
It's sad to see something seem promising, but come off as a generic, and not appealing mess. It doesn't help at all, that it's trying to be random, to the point it feels try harding. ... Not too mention how it's really just a generic power fantasy, with all the girls in the cast drooling over the blank MC. Cause really, to touch more on details about him, he's honestly that. While he has caring emotions, he does come off as robotic. You'd think the story by the snopsis,would help drive it forward, but it honestly doesn't. It more or less comes off as Kirito bait,that anything, and everything will revolve around him, and that is a borefest, waiting to happen. A shame too, cause the plot does sound interesting, and the characters,or least ones you'll care about, do look alright. But you do wonder, if that'll be thrown away, as they just end up head over heels for him.

If you want an honest fun adventure, that isn't trying so hard to find itself. Then you should look elsewhere. As this isn't the show for you, and nor is it for me. The only positives as stated, are that some of the cast in terms of characters, and their personalities, are quite decent, along with some plot points that seem greater than they actually are, but it's ruined by a meh MC, and weird looking animated visuals. Along with some plot points, that just roll eyes more than anything.

Honestly, the reason it gets a good enough grade, is more down to the sound part being good. I have no issues with the sound, nothing sounds bad, or is ear piercing. What's my issue is not fully with the art, but more with how the characters are, and animated in some parts. They honestly look like they've been modeled out of the brother from EX-Arm, like when you see it, you can't unsee it. It's as if whoever went for it, wanted it be cheap looking as possible. Like I won't fully discredit the art, as some of the backgrounds, and such do look great, but by god. The characters are real off putting to some degree.

Do not let the rating fool you. It's a skip. An interesting concept, ruined by other factors sadly.

I don’t know what it was, but iceblade just hit for me. First episode was meh, but as the next few went on I really started liking the MC, the world and characters. Something about them just ticked for me.

I always say that something being generic does not necessarily mean bad. All stories have really been done before, so it comes down to execution to keep things entertaining and I think the execution of the characters in this one was good despite the generic overpowered guy at magical academy who everyone thinks is weak plot line.

Smaller cast means more focus on them and ... time to actually flesh them out. Little details like the edgy class rival who tries to make life hell for the MC actually growing and changing over the course of the show as opposed to staying a whiny brat all the time were great.

I also think the lack of much overt fan-service was a welcome way to keep the focus on the interpersonal relationships of the characters and story. The story isn’t the strongest and mainly focuses on the MC navigating daily life at the school while overcoming his personal trauma. He’s apprehensive to making friends because of previous experiences and gradually those walls are torn down.

If I had to have any complaint with the final episodes’ arc was pretty weak. I didn’t really care about Rebecca as a character because she didn’t have much screen time, but they tried to make it seem like she was an important character and force us to be emotional with her situation. Probably a result of skipping some source content I’d imagine.

Art wise the show is kind of odd. The first time I saw it I just thought the character designs looked so weird and plain. I’m still not the biggest fan of them, but they have grown on me along with the story. The animation is pretty bad though. All of the fight scenes are subpar. Especially Amelia’s little battle arc. Someone once told me that you can’t have great animation and good character development. That’s not always the case, but in this one it is.

Iceblade isn’t the most original show around, it’s definitely trope-y and it doesn’t have the best animation, but I enjoyed it a lot which is all that matters. It was actually one of my favourite shows of the season and after onimai, the second most anticipated Thursday seasonal. I’ll be checking out the LN for sure after this.

Honestly the plot is “generic” but in my opinion it’s not about the plot it’s about how interesting the main character is and how he interacts with people and deals with them. People says it’s generic it’s sucks blah blah blah but if ur here for the plot then it might not be your cup of tea, the interaction of each character is what’s get me going. It’s a harem anime (pre sure it is) but the MC don’t act like a total child that get nervous and act like a moron when some girl is next to them. The MC actually act like a ... normal person and casually talk to his “harem” that’s one of the things that is noteworthy. But overall the anime so far has been interesting it’s similar to The Irregular at Magic High School.

The MC is an all powerfull secret super weapon, sent to a magical high school to find some kind of spy, he uses unconventional magic method to make his way to his objective

--> The generic all powerfull main protagonist is a souless and expressionless husk, he can do and solve anything and everything by its own, the people around him feels just like stupid shallowed husks, that cant properly manage to do anyhting without a hand of the MC.

--> The artstyle is cheap and lazy, lacking any kind of detail or depth. The animation is poorly made, the fights lack any kindo of sense of ... motion and weight.

--> The story and progression is non existant, the backstory is told in a flashback, the motivations are shallow and unsubstantiated, he just do things because someone told him so

There's no world building, no character development, no nothing. Just the average uninspired seasonal fantasy show

So far this is a good watch. The MC isnt a weakling who's skills take 100 episodes to develop which is lovely. The storyline isnt the greatest thing ever but it is a fun, light, enjoyable watch. It also isnt incredibly slow paced and gets to the point quite quickly which i also enjoy. Some parts are predictable-ish others aren't. Many are complaining about the art and I feel like they are just nit picking. The art is fine and the scenes so far have been just fine and watchable. The MC has the typical quiet kid dialogue sometimes and is monotoned but its not ... unbearable. Some characters voices are almost like theyre in a different kind of genre and a lot of scenes are too, there is room for improvement like there always is but overall excited for new episodes to come out and to see if my thoughts change and how the story progresses.

"The Iceblade Magician Shall Rule the World" is an anime with a weird name that's fitting for how bizarre and unengaging the show turned out to be. From the start, it was clear that the story was lacking in direction and purpose, and the character of Ray White was just as uninteresting.

Typically, an anime protagonist faces challenges and grows stronger as a result, but Ray is inexplicably overpowered from the start, making it difficult to feel invested in his character arc. Instead, the show relies on tired harem anime tropes, with Ray saving a group of girls who then become infatuated with him.

I was completely ... underwhelmed by the show's lack of depth and coherence, and after the 12th episode, I was genuinely disappointed that I had invested any time in it at all. The show failed to provide any meaningful character development or world-building, leaving me feeling unfulfilled and frustrated.

Overall, "The Iceblade Magician Shall Rule the World" is a forgettable harem anime that fails to live up to its potential(genuinely doubt if it's story had any). Its weak storyline, uninspired characters, and lackluster execution make it a waste of time for anyone looking for a truly engaging anime experience. I would not recommend it to anyone."

Wow, this anime is amazing. The plot is unlike any I have seen so far. The pacing is splendid, the characters are just too well defined and well done, like Gordon Ramsay's steak. It is just fascinating to watch this anime I WANT MOREEE I WANT MOREEEEE.

The main character is so mysterious, he has such realistic and well-formed dialogues and interactions with people and other characters support him by saying only one word "Ray-Kun! You're so strong Iyaahh undress me and push me down" *Ahem* I may have gotten ... a bit too far there. Umm, anyways, the story is just so damn interesting, it has me RAPT and not a single moment have I closed my eyes in pain and had my nerves pricked with needles, definitely not.

Everyone should give this anime a try, its the most saikyou experience, I guarantee that after watching this all of you will have become war hardened veterans.

I give this anime a solid 11/10.

Violet Evergarden, except actually good.

“I have no trouble communicating with women” - the protagonist.
“Wtf, how am I supposed to self-insert?” - weebs who were expecting a generic isekai / battle harem.

First, this show isn’t a battle harem academy despite the superficial appearance of one, it’s a slice-of-life comedy.
Second, it’s self-insert fiction in a very old-school western way, like Harry Harrison’s and Robert Howard’s books. The protagonist is a gigachad with bodybuilder's muscles, mad sword & sorcery skills, a multitude of diverse talents, and an ability to unhook bras with his eyes. Basically, he’s Conan the Barbarian - a self-insert in the sense that the audience ... would like to be like him - and *could* realistically imagine themselves in his place because everything about this character's talents is actually entirely rational from the writing perspective. The bodybuilder’s muscles come from hours of on-screen exercise, the fighting skills come from getting coached by genius mentors and years of military service, etc. When he restores an abandoned garden as a hobby project, this is done with weeks of manual labor (again, shown to us on-screen) - not with a Lvl. 999 Gardening cheat skill he got from a goddess as a reincarnation perk. The audience can imagine themselves achieving the same result if they put in the same amount of effort, had the same circumstances, etc.
The issue is, this isn’t a Conan the Barbarian novel, this is an anime, and [harem] anime does self-insert fantasy in a fundamentally different way. Harem anime self-insert characters usually are pathetic losers with no redeeming qualities whatsoever who magically luck into success with zero effort on their part. That’s because such anime knows its target audience, in particular, it understands that the idea of putting in any effort or having any talents scares and confuses them. This contradiction between the approach and the medium is the reason why we get to hear these laugh/cringe-inducing cope takes from self-inserters about this protagonist being “generic” or “unrelatable.” Yeah, imagine relating to having no trouble communicating with women, the mind boggles.
Anyway, these takes are straight-up gaslighting. Not only is this protagonist a well-written, well-developed character, there is also not a single other character similar to him in all of ~1100 anime titles I’ve seen at the time of writing. What makes him particularly unique is the personality of a smooth-talking idiot savant. Here’s how this fine chap introduces two girls to each other:
“This sweet angel is Elisa. She's got an exceptionally beautiful heart, excels at being considerate in subtle ways, studies hard, and is vastly knowledgeable.”
“And then this one-of-a-kind lady who loves and is loved by these transcendentally wavy twintails is Claris. She has the highest level of elegance, with which she expertly weaves perfect sweetness into her otherwise cool demeanor.”
Now’s a good moment to mention that you can actually find a similar protagonist if you try - and that protagonist is Violet Evergarden. Both The Iceblade Sorcerer and Violet Evergarden are stories about a veteran child soldier returning to the civilian world and trying to catch up on normal late-teens life while struggling with the demons of their past. Except Violet is an absolute caricature of a naruto-running autistic robot dog (seriously, I was expecting a reveal that she is a literal combat robot like Terminator, it would’ve made so much sense), whereas Ray is a realistic, well-developed character. One aspect of which is being naive and socially oblivious as a consequence of spending formatting years on the battlefield. If someone tried those lines above on women in real life, they would come off as sleazy, but Ray gets away with it because those lines are consistent with his overall behavior both for us, the audience, and for the characters within the story. He doesn’t mean those lines as compliments, they are his genuine unfiltered thoughts, and he isn’t worldly enough to think of the implications.

Also, if those introductions made you chuckle - that is entirely intentional. The show is unapologetically goofy and tries its best to be fun. Because, as I’ve said above, it’s a slice-of-life comedy, not a battle harem - as long as you actually open your eyes and look. It features none of the battle harem academy tropes, notably, it has pretty much zero fanservice (of the teen-boy-eroticism kind you’d expect in a battle harem specifically), opting instead for imaginative animation sequences and low-key bizarre, but wholesome comedy. The Iceblade Sorcerer has more in common with Bocchi The Rock and Yuru Camp than with something like Mahouka or Rakudai Kishi. When some random muppet-looking house spider came into the frame saying “I want to have wings,” my mind immediately jumped to pinecones from Yuru Camp saying “konnichiwa.” As for the way the series handles self-insert fantasy - how many socially-anxious teens do you think were like, “Bocchi is just like me, fr fr no cap” while watching Bocchi The Rock? The Iceblade Sorcerer is self-insert fiction in the same way Bocchi The Rock is self-insert fiction.
Also, I’ve seen complaints about animation quality - those are completely daft and philistine. The show is very visually engaging with visionary and competent direction. Its sound direction is top-notch too, particularly how it uses insert songs to set up the mood.

9/10 for an entertaining cartoon.

This anime was a big surprise to me. I came here expecting a very generic plot and character, which I guess was true in some ways, but I saw much more than that. The more I watched the anime the more I got intrigued by the plot and everything. It was a show that I have to say really got me wanting more of and kept watching in hopes for the next episode to come out. If there is a 2nd season I will definitely watch it.

Lets get some rating outta the way! The plot, although kind of messy as in there wasn't much build ... up for a certain climax but there were multiple things happening at once, was very interesting and to say the least it kept me on my toes. An example of what I mean by messy would be as if you build up a plot for a certain event to happen, and that event happens halfway, concludes and then a new event that was completely unrelated to the story suddenly appears as the final climax. The characters I would say were somewhat generic yet had their own charm to them, I loved how cute and hilarious some their faces where and just couldn't help but admire their characters. The music in this show was surprisingly really nice. I got addicted to listening to their OP every time and their ED was bomb as well.

There isn't a lot to be said honestly, but I couldn't help but review this seemingly underrated anime of which I have seem so many hateful reviews on. This anime definitely sparked an interest in me with the build up and the story telling.

My first thoughts on this anime after reading some of the manga was that the studio messed up big time. Not that the manga is some miracle sent by god but it is a hell of a lot better than this generic adaption. They changed pretty much everything about the characters except for Evi who felt somewhat the same in both the manga and anime adaption. My biggest flaw with the adaption is how they changed the mc. In some ways he's the same but mostly he's just a generic overpowered mc now and in the manga he felt like he had more emotion and ... feeling to him and now I'm just not feeling anything but blandness. My second biggest thing about this is the animation. The animation alone isn't the worst thing in the anime spectrum but compared to the manga panels its pretty bad. I know that comparing moving frames to a single picture is unfair, but seeing as how the manga panels captured my eyes and made me want to read more, the animation just leaves me with a feeling of just laziness and bland effort. Not to mention the styles of the characters which are now the most basic anime characters I have ever seen, while in the manga they are somewhat unique with how they look. Seeing as how this is cloud hearts first released anime I don't want to be too hard on them so I praise them for working on this and at least trying.

Overall this is a pretty generic and decent anime adaption for their first one and should really only go on your watchlist if you're into pretty generic stuff, or if you just really have nothing else to watch (or just dont listen to me and watch whatever you want). This was my first review on this site and seeing as how I'm not a great review writer try not to be too hard on me. In general I would just recommend reading the manga and then watching the show if you really want to. I am tired of isekai like almost everyone BUT this one really surprised me.
Main character isn't boring and we see characteristics of other characters as well.
Animation isn't perfect but I think that we can overlook it and laugh together at some tropes like jealous student muttering Ordinary at MC every few seconds 😂
6 episode was for me the funniest so I hope that you won't give it up sooner.
What surprised me was 'female gaze' because we finally don't see boobs and other ecchi tropes every 5 minutes. But we can see muscles of men. That's refreshing!
So for exceeding my expectation I am giving ... 9 stars.

Great anime if you have nothing else to watch and like the op protagonist trope.
So far the MC is actually funny, love the bromance between his friend, finally a damn harem type anime that isn’t afraid of having another male character with a fun personality, all the characters are surprisingly unique and have some growth.

Don’t get me wrong this anime is definitely nothing crazy special and has a lot of flaws but I mean come on you know what kinda anime you’re getting into just by reading the title and watching the first episode.

went in with not a speck of expectations but found myself ... giggling and liking the characters, still the same ole generic personalities BUT it’s pretty FRESH generic personalities.

Definitely recommend it’s a dumb fun watch!!!

I do not have enough words that can explain my hate and annoyance with this anime i just can't. This anime is one of the worst if not the worst anime i have ever seen in my life, i get so annoyed with these characters especially the mc just because of his emotionless face and even when he does have emotions its so badly drawn its barely noticeable i hate this anime so much it pisses me off that i was recommended this anime and have wasted my time watching it and the only reason i am watching it still is because i am so ... far into i might as well finish it. To end it off this anime garbage i hate this anime with its shit writing and animation and usually i dont care for animation but this one takes the cake for it and whoever likes this you have no taste in anything good U-S-A

I don't know whether to give this series a 9 or a 2, so I have averaged it to 5; it's so bad that it's good.

Seriously, this series is hilarious, with its ugly animation and colouration, terrible dialogue, overdone cliches and tropes, plots that don't make sense, trying to be cool and horrifically failing, it keeps me laughing from episode start til episode end every time.
The music is horribly generic yet WANTS to make you feel something without getting paid enough to truly try to earn it, which just makes me laugh with the extra melodrama that it adds to nothing scenes.

Great watch, but should ... be taken seriously under no circumstances.

If you take a good look at the poster image you'll get the summary of the show - a low budget generic magical academy fantasy harem show with a protagonist that is way too strong (and maybe a bit edgy?) but hides that face from others. This alone is enough to inform that you shouldn't have any expectation other than lower than average generic fantasy, yet it is an endearing mess with quite some heart, that most will overlook. A dark donkey. Not a horse, a donkey.

This show is based on the first publication and this can is quite visible from the adaptation. While nothing ... in the story, setting or characters is innovative enough to make it its own thing, the narrative and character dynamics are quite competent. It feels as if the author tried its best to avoid technical mistakes than have any ambition with this first work, only doing a bit more than the baseline requires. Even more impressive as none of the ideas and cliches used have been poorly executed. There's even a fight where the cast has to coordinate to defeat an enemy, and for once, it isn't the main character doing the planning, instructing the party nor taking most of the work.

At the same time we don't get that much out of the supporting cast, which may be an issue exclusive to the adaptation. They do have fun interactions and exist outside the protagonist boundaries though. Bonus points for having a male support and girls that aren't all head over heels (hopefully it won't degenerate into that). More commendable than that is the fact that background characters don't treat the protagonist as the core of the show universe, in fact it takes quite some time for them to form an opinion on him. It's a decent package overall.

Regarding the adaptation itself, its weaknesses are quite evident. Art and animation are around the industry standard, it has some bad CG VFX. There were two particular occurrences, regarding the "romance", that felt like big stumbles. At the first episode we get a long sequence to introduce the supporting cast individually, and in every interaction the protagonist and the support will do a full introduction and tell each other to use their given names instead of family names. None of the characters has a japanese name and the academy is clearly western inspired, which makes this detail pointless. The second episode does things worse as we two fillers in the shape of date intermissions, breaking the whole flow of the episode. I do have to admit that a certain thing happens at the first date that makes the segment a bit interesting, yet it's no enough. In fact, it is possible that the way "romance" has been handled may ruin the little the show has going on, but only time can tell.

So, what does this show has to offer if it's a bit over average at best? It's the heart put on it.

I may be wrong but none of the variables in the production could make this show a great watch. This isn't a masterpiece from a popular author being adapted by established prestige studio, in fact it wouldn't be unfair to say that this is a debut adaptation of a debut light novel. Most people wouldn't care if this was made with as little effort as possible, yet if you look closely you'll see a lot of small details that could be cut out completely, that act as sneak peaks for what is to come in a near future. It's not like they are important building to bother with.

To be a bit more specific (yet vague), a certain concept is mentioned at the first episode, and this starts this soft thread that connects the protagonist to the introduction of a supporting character, that acts as a bond between them, then introduces us to a new character dynamic with a third and comes back as an element in a conflict, over the spam of 4 episodes. Most adaptations wouldn't think twice before cutting all of this to focus more time into making the protagonist more appealing to the audience or to promote the bachelorettes further. This opens a precedent for anything to be a potential soft thread through its runtime, and a significant part of them have been explored by now in some degree. The same can be said of side characters quirks that have no apparent role aside giving them some characterization. Kinda feels like a nice puzzle being casually assembled.

There no deny that the show isn't technically good and it certainly won't blow up anyone's expectations. However there is some charm to see a staff doing its best to make something that has everything to be unremarkable into the best show it can be, against all odds.

It can be quite enjoyable watch if appreciate approach it in that way. Again, we're talking about a donkey, not a horse.

It's one of the generic magic school shows, I feel like I've seen it a million times and it's not done well here. The main character is a block of wood, despite his half assed backstory. He goes around complimenting and being complimented by a bunch of women, who are also blocks of wood, other than constantly blushing every time he speaks to them.

He's overpowered, he has to hide his identity, all the other students are noblemen, they look down on him, bla bla bla, the same shit. They keep getting impressed by how powerful he is while considering him the under dog. This feels ... like another isekai but it's not, it's just shit.

Just to be clear, from the first few episodes we're told he's not just powerful, he's one the the seven legendary wizards, and also he's the most powerful of the seven legendary wizards. And also he's great with a sword. He's already the most powerful person in the world really, despite the title implying otherwise.

There's some half assed world building and some shit about how the magic works, not that it matters, otherwise it's pretty much this guy talking to the harem, and the harem telling him how good he is at speaking. It also has this annoying shit where everyone says ordinary in english to refer to anyone who isn't noble. Not peasant, or lowborn, anything else, ordinary. It really feels stupid.

Even what I would consider a subpar self insert fantasy like Kami-tachi ni Hirowareta Otoko did something interesting with the slimes and the magic, which kept me from giving it a lower score. This show has no real redeeming qualities, not even the art or the animation.

It's a shame that the only redeemable part of this anime is the intro song. The author commits the sin of making the backstory more entertaining than the main plot. You can literally watch the first 6 minutes of the show, intro and all, and take the maximum amount of enjoyment possible. If a prequel to this anime came out it would probably be a 6 or a 7, but I cannot recommend what is just a very badly written generic slice of life with shoe horned coding-magic. The main characters are bland and uninspired, the actual plot is so copy-paste that I constantly confused ... it with 2 other shows that came out this season, and to make it worse the most powerful move our main protagonist can pull off is random ice swords, it can't even pull off a power fantasy well.

I did not expect to actually finish this Anime, but I did. The story is pretty "average" which is kind of sad because I actually liked the protagonist. He is not like the average MC, he is a gentlemen. He isnt simping over every single female person that he meets or is too scared to even talk to a female character. He is the opposite.


Plot:
The protagonist attends a Magic academy because he wants to learn more about Humans, make friends etc. Something cruel happened in his past and because of that his only "friends" are a group of soldiers.
It is a pretty basic ... plot to be hones. The other characters get introduced pretty fast and from then on they get to know eachother more etc. But, like I said, the MC is a gentlemen, thats why half of his friends are women. You probably know where this is going...
Of course, there is also a "Bad organisation" and the other usual stuff.


Animation:
The Animation was okay. There were some episodes with really good and some with really bad animation.

Characters:
The characters were average. The MC is the only one that was a bit different, but all in all, really basic.

Im still not sure If I should give this Anime a 6 or a 5. It was pretty funny and I kinda liked it but its still pretty average.

It got my attention as the plot is one of my fav but the storyline got as fast as it could have possibly be they didn't cover the back story properly what are his powers actually and many more aspects of the story can't understand why the anime's this season was in such a hurry to end the story as fast as possible they don't recognise that they are losing potential anime's by doing this
The character design was kinda mixed some were good but some were left as it is music wasn't something we call attractive, animation was okay okay not too bad
Gonna keep ... this one short.
Conclusion is that i got mixed recommendation on this one as it is watchable anime but uh will find it boring and want to fast forward many times
