Mushoku Tensei II: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu

After his relationship with Eris Boreas Greyrat reaches new heights, Rudeus Greyrat is ecstatic. Unfortunately, his joy is short-lived, as Eris suddenly abandons him to embark on her own journey. Believing that Eris has lost all interest in him, a heartbroken and depressed Rudeus sets forth to the Northern Territories. With his sole goal being to locate his mother on the vast continent, Rudeus wonders if persisting through daily life is worth the pain, falling into a robotic routine as he endlessly ruminates on his lost love.

However, the dangers of the North soon prove that one cannot survive with a dulled mind. While on a quest with the party Counter Arrow, with whom he recently became acquainted, Rudeus has a brush with death—an experience that forces him to finally snap out of his despair. With his newfound teammates, Rudeus rediscovers the pleasure of daily adventuring and moves forward with his original goal of living his second lease on life to the fullest.

I... don't know what to say.
I personally didn't liked the 2nd part of Season 1, but I am so glad, that I have continued watching.
While it contains some of the Isekai-Anime cliches, it still not not the typical Isekai.
I still like the world, it has Anime fantasy elements, but especially the winter part in the first half reminded me of Elder Scrolls like fantasy.
What me surprised most was, how the Anime was able to actually made me feel stuff.
Normally I just watch shows and enjoy them, maybe get a bit of a pumping heart or goosebumps at a action scene rarely.
But this Anime managed to ... make me actually feel some kind of pain for 70% of the time, be it on happy or on sad scenes.
And it was an emotional joyride.
Normally in a Anime you know, that things gonna turn good in the end and that battles are more or less meaningless.
And even if someone dies, it does not feel so important.
But this world and the pain of the characters is so believable, it actually hurts.
Also because you know, things only get better, so that they can get worse again.
I have been fooled once, but I will not be fooled twice and now that fear is lingering in the back of my subconscious the whole time.

It really says something about an Anime, if I manage to actually watch 25 Episodes of it in one day, without much breaks.
Without big annoying cliffhangers, I still had to continue watching the whole time.
Quality might not be at its maximum, as it was back then, but Animation, Music, Art etc. are still really good.

Mixed Feelings

The first installment of Mushoku Tensei II: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu falls short of expectations. While it maintains visual and animation standards akin to the prior season, it notably reduces the intensity and quantity of its action sequences. Instead, the focus shifts towards exploring interpersonal dynamics and emotions. Although this shift isn't inherently negative, Part 1 unfolds at a noticeably slower pace. Additionally, several of the new characters are introduced to the series through supplementary side content rather than within the primary storyline. Apart from Rudeus’s introspective journey and trauma resolution, the core storyline lacks substantial content, adding to the sluggish pacing of the installment. ... Moreover, Mushoku Tensei II: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu Part 1 fails to propel the story forward significantly, marking a low point in the overall series.

There are some really cool elements here, and even some of the problematic character interactions are interesting and funny in their own way, but there are some really terrible anime tropes in this series that make it hard to recommend to anyone I know.

Over-sexualization and excessive fan service frequently diminish the potential of shows like this, turning what could be extraordinary into just another forgettable series. What's the attraction of a panty shot during a supposedly intense, perilous scene? Or prominently displaying large breasts for no other reason than to showcase them? Or the harem genre overall, which might be interesting if it weren't for ... the absurd manner in which these women fawn over the main character.
