Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-hen

Movie was so fucking bad. I cant help but think anyone who gave it more than an 8 was a blind simp. Dialogue was bland, humor was so cringe, Lower Rank 1 turned out to be such an underwhelming pushover with zero character depth.

One thing the anime did spectacularly was every villian was interesting, and creative in their fights. Think ball/arrow demons combo, deep sea triplets, the scholar/drum guy. They even set up The lower Rank 1 perfectly in the Muzan encounter but he/she turned out to be this zero IQ letdown that employs this dream thread things that had zero effectiveness, then keeps ... reusing the useless hynotizing skill, then fuses with the train to make sure it became completely immobile with this massive weakspot.

This movie overall felt like no effort was put into it and its just coatriding off the anime's success. It was so bad from start to end. Hope season 2 goes back to being better and this disappointment starts and ends with the movie.

Aight honest review, let say you where given a good gadget like a 1000 dollar phone with the brand that you like, you keep using it until at some time its not working and its the end of its cycle, eventually you wanna buy another phone with the brand that you like, u look up to the brand name because it gives you more user friendly experience and its really nice to have that as you phone. When you are going to buy it they said that the phone u had 2 years ago is now better with the new iteration of ur old ... phone of the same name. You check the phone and you already got bored because its the same thing over and over again, The clerk said to you "are you satisfied with the new phone sir" , "Let me think about it" after that you went home not buying the phone because you are bored with the same things over and over again and eventually you try to look up at articles saying that there is much more better than the 1k dollar phone, u look up to this another site and was shocked that the other phones are much more cheaper and also powerful . You went to the store of the phone you looked and it only costs 350 dollars which it might save you more money than buying 1k dollar phone. After buying the phone that u bought at a lower price you realize that it was lacking, It lacks a lot of things that your original phone has and you start to regret a little but you accepted the truth because for whatever reason its just the same thing. Demon Slayer Mugen Ressha-hen is really a turning point for those who didn't watch the movie and went to this one. Its one of those things that begs you more for money because it is the refined version of the original one. The intricate amount of storytelling from the first episode did much hyped me at some point but watching the beyond episodes stopped me from watching and just realized that the first thing good about Ressha-hen was the added animations and characters from the start. Afterall Season 2 should be the one you should be focusing because this one is just another way to make money. But if your interested to watch this rather than the movie then you just wasted you time because the movie just summarized it all, well that is just ur opinion and I wont let the anime fans of this show disappoint because this is just my review. Final Verdict is the show good? yes but for some reason I want you to avoid watching Mugen Ressha-hen because it just gives you more perspective than the original movie is. But if you watched the movie then you shall wait for the Season 2 .

A lot of people like to complain that having this arc as both episodes and a movie was a waste of time, but I disagree. The movie was great, don't get me wrong. But they added a lot of new content into the episodes along with great music (That opening theme makes me feel things) and even some new animations in that first episode. It was beautiful and really sweet to see some more Rengoku content (I'm not gonna spoil anything but there is a scene with a bean bun that cracks me up no matter how many times I see it).
Even if you've ... watched the movie, be sure to watch these episodes as well. You will absolutely not be disappointed at what they add

Mugen Train finally came out in the States about half a year ago and exceeded my expectations for a Demon Slayer movie, and with that said if you have already seen the movie you are missing absolutely nothing and for those who are talking about the new cutscenes and additions that Ufotable has added on to this adaptation are trying to convince themselves that this is worth a rewatch.
Legit scamlords, I didn't expect Ufotable to rerelease the same movie split into 6 different episodes (excluding Rengoku episode) but they managed to capitalise on the hype train and make even more money, this adaptation wasn't made ... out of passion but solely for profit, and for that reason I can't recommend this movie to anyone if you have standards [respect] for yourself.

Keep coping, this rerun is dog.

A bit better than S1 but still highly overrated.

Most of the train arc just felt so stretched out and boring. The enemy didn't even seem daunting, he never seemed like a formidable foe. Most of the main characters remain annoying and still scream all the time, god that's annoying. Even the main guy goes on screaming in the last episode. At least the yellow guy had one cool moment this season.

Rengoku was actually quite cool! But of course they must kill him, ugh. His death wasn't even emotional because we've barely seen him and we've barely seen him fighting. Holding off 5 ... waggons in the train, hurray. It was a wasted character.

The animation was cool of course and the music was good. But that doesn't make the anime. At least it was better than S1.

It is the anime version movie, with extra scenes. Very good animation, incredible music. It was very sad to see how it ends again, uf very complicated. I need the continuation and see how they kill more demons because I was very angry. I love the extra scenes, very good that do not change the story but help to give more depth to the world of anime.
It is difficult to see the same thing again with some extra scenes, the first two chapters we see how he gets to go to the train, and how he feels that something is not right. We also see ... a little more of the family and why it is as it is. There is more character development in this short anime that adapts the movie if you saw the movie and you don't remember very well, everything watching the series will help you.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand they get away with it. Take what is essentially the movie, split it in 5, add two absolutely pointless episodes at the very beginning and you get the second season of Kimetsu no Yaiba.

Personally, i did not care much for the movie as a standalone release. The setting, being exclusively on the train was god awful, compared to the open world that the first season offered. Character development hit an all time low. The MC is still perfect, earnest and brave, the other two are just comedic relief as per usual, Nezuko offers little to no fanservice, and all the effort that was ... put into Rengokus story felt like it was there to squeeze more juicy tears from the audience at the very end. But hey, maybe the antagonists were really cool and had depth. No again. Their motivation was cliche to borderline non-existant and they simply just served as plot devices.

Now, with the movie alone, they would have gotten away with it. There's still pretty visuals (except the 3D tentacle porn in the last few episodes), audio is very much on point, so to me at least it, the movie was passable as an intermission to the second season. I did not even read what the second season was about and just got into the first episode, to see a familiar character whoms fate i was already familiar with, Rengoku. I was like, alright, cool, maybe this is set somewhere between the first season and the movie. Then, there is the first mention about the train. I am so naive that i thought, ok, maybe this is a different train. Then, i recognized the name of the train by the second episode and though, ok, they're setting this up for an absolutely new spin on the movie.

Needless to say, having watched all of it, i feel like an idiot. But above all else, i feel betrayed and baffled. How can anyone do this? Who releases a movie and then a 7 episode season, where 5 of the episodes are literally that movie, and the first two are just pointless fillers? I at least thought i would find solace in the fact that the great majority will share this view, that the reviews here on MAL would destroy it and that the overall rating would reflect what a blasphemy it is.

Alas, that is not the case, and going back to my initial statement, it seems they've gotten away with it. Most people seem to view this season as a wonderful oportunity to be reminded of how great the movie was as percieved through the spectacles to their soul, and you know what, that's fine. I'll just go back to watching Monster or something else with actual depth if that is my preference and hope that the 3rd season will not be a 7 episode that now starts with the movie for 5 and ends with 2 fillers to spice things up.

This is the anime format of the infinity train movie. It has a first episode that isn't in the movie and a few extra scenes but has the exact same content apart from that. Unless you really like the 20 minute episode format I'd recommend watching the first episode of this anime followed by the actual movie as that will most likely provide you with the best experience.

The story of this anime is good and it follows on the first season of demon slayer. It has the same format in which a demon is assigned that needs to be defeated and Tanjiro + friends ... go to slay it. There is a point where all characters suddenly start dreaming which can be confusing at first but apart from that it's easy enough to follow.

The characters are the same as in the first season but rengoku is a main character in this anime as well. His personality is very unique and pretty hit or miss but overall a great character. The demon that they are fighting is also interesting and has enough detail to be a proper antagonist for the duration of the anime.

The animation and music were both amazing. The artsyle is like the first season and the battles look great. There's also lots of different OST's for different scenes and characters that add to the experience.

Overall the anime is great but the anime format iself is inferior to the movie since that has less interruptions that will break the flow of the story. The first episode of this anime is definitely worth watching though because it isn't in the movie but adds a lot of context.

I've watched this film upwards of a dozen+ times. I'm a bigger fanboy than anyone. I'll save you the time and all the intellectual garbage and just say this; watch episode 1 of this arc. It's fantastic. And then switch to the actual Mugen Train film. There is literally nothing of value lost watching past episode 1 here. The film has better pacing throughout everything here. There is no reason to sit through an end credits sequence after an awesome scene and then spend 2 whole minutes of the next episode recapping what you just saw. Just ..watch the film guys.

What to say? Its good but there’s just one question in my mind. Why? Why does this exist? It’s basically a recap of the movie with a few extra shots almost nobody noticed. But let’s look at is piece by piece. I will mention the story last.

It’s Demon Slayer. The animation is gorgeous the opening is animated very beautifully. But that was to be expected and there’s nothing to add in this category.

Sound: 8
The opening was really enjoyable and was fun to listen to. Out of the three openings Demon Slayer has, it’s my least favorite but nonetheless really good.

Character: 9
We got to ... see a little more of Rengoku and his personality. It was fun to watch.

Story: 2
I’m sorry but this was just unnecessary. Don’t get me wrong I adored the Movie. I gave it a 10/10 but when I would like to rewatch it, I would just watch the movie. The first episode was amazing but then it’s just a recap. Why not make a special episode? They don’t need to recap the entire movie just in form of episodes. I personally think that it’s somehow easier to watch a two-hour movie, than seven twenty-minute episodes.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, also known as Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-hen, is an excellent addition to the Demon Slayer series. The narrative of Tanjiro and the other Demon Slayers is continued as they set out on a fresh mission to apprehend a formidable demon onboard the Infinity Train.

With its magnificent settings and brilliant colours, the animation is astounding. Every battle is exciting and unforgettable because to the expertly choreographed action scenes.

The characters have a strong foundation and develop throughout the film. In particular, Tanjiro and Nezuko's connection is endearing and one of the movie's great points.
You'll be on the edge of your seat as ... a result of the story's captivating nature and fresh turns. In a heartfelt and profound fashion, the themes of tenacity, bravery, and sibling love are touched upon.

I give Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-hen a 9 out of 10 overall. Fans of the series should not miss it, and new viewers will enjoy it as a terrific introduction to the brand. This movie is sure to satisfy, whether you want drama, action, or emotional storytelling.

I never got the chance to review the movie, so consider this a review for this rebroadcast and the film itself. The Mugen Train arc was an experience to watch in both formats. While it may start the second season, I wouldn't consider it the official start as that's for the Entertainment District arc next week. However, despite the hate it may have received for being a reworked version of the movie, the quality of the anime arc itself matters the most. My feelings for this tv format are the same as the movie for Mugen Train.

The plot itself continues from where season one ... of Demon Slayer left off and retold the events of the Mugen Train movie, but with some extra scenes in it. The pacing for both the film and the tv adaptation itself was great, not too fast, nor slow. In terms of the arc itself, it's spectacular in its own right. What makes this part of the anime incredible is the emotional substance it contains throughout the entire arc itself. Eventually, it builds up to a confrontation with supposedly the main villain of this arc until it leads to an even more surprising plot twist. I was on a roller coaster of emotions throughout this arc, and that aspect was well done. If Demon Slayer continues to go down that aspect, it may be as great as other anime.

The story of Demon Slayer itself takes place after the events of the first season, where it features the central trio who continues their journey as demon slayers. Throughout the Mugen Train arc, it reintroduces a character previously seen from the first season and expands more on his backstory and personality. Later, it builds up to a villain foreshadowed towards the first season's end and causes everything to go nuts until they're able to fight him. The build-up towards that fight was exciting and somewhat bittersweet to watch as it shows more into what the characters are like in terms of personality. The action scenes themselves were as beautiful as always, but the final fight in that arc is still one of the best battles in the entire series for now. I loved how this arc reintroduced characters seen before and how it managed to capture many feelings just by watching this arc itself. The Mugen Train arc was an experience to enjoy.

What makes part of the Mugen Train arc shine are the characters themselves. Although Tanjiro and the other three are still the same as they were when we last saw them, it was still a great refresher to see their chemistry with each other. However, the character that stood out the most was the Flame Hashira Rengoku. Like all flames, Rengoku shined brightly. He showed us how even for a small amount of screentime, a character can still be great, and Rengoku is a perfect example of that aspect. So great that the first episode of the Mugen Train arc tv series was an original about him, which is better than other anime fillers. That aspect of Rengoku was the best part of the entire Mugen Train arc itself made him one of the best characters in the series. However, the villain for this arc, Enmu, was kind of lackluster compared to the other villains from the first season. He didn't get much of a backstory, which was different from them, and his motives for the arc itself weren't interesting but was a great buildup towards another villain. Another villain named Akaza is a better villain than him. Not only was his fight with Rengoku the best-animated battle in the series yet, but his character was intriguing to watch. Because Akaza was a stronger villain introduced early, it can be considered a build-up for his return in the series in a future arc.

The animation is still breathtaking to watch, supposedly even better than the first season. Ufotable has done a great job as always, so much to the point where it made me question if they're able to outdo themselves with their future work. The music in this arc was still amazing to hear. The soundtrack alone made me appreciate Yuki Kajiura's work more in this series and other anime. The songs by LiSA were still a treat to listen to throughout the opening and the endings. The opening song and ending for the television broadcast made me feel determined and go through memories of my past, which I felt listening to it. Those notes combined with her voice are still a masterpiece. The main song for the movie, Homura, is still emotionally beautiful. It gave the impression that it was specifically a tribute for Rengoku, and it's so gorgeous to listen to. In my opinion, I felt like the music in this arc stepped up its game to sound even more exciting.

Overall the Mugen Train arc in Demon Slayer is still one of the great arcs the series has produced. Although rebroadcasting the Mugen Train arc in a tv format might've not been the best move for some fans of the series, I still enjoyed it. The first episode of the tv version itself would've been better as an OVA, but I won't complain. The animation, music, and Rengoku's character were my favorite parts of the Mugen Train arc entirely. Here's hoping that the central trio will continue to get stronger and that the Entertainment District arc can surpass Mugen Train itself next week.

A fine arc for the series. While I'm not a big fan of the story (it's really simplistic even for an action shonen), it's one of the best animated animes out there, and it's artisctic style and animation quality justify watching it 100%.

Now, I see a lot of people complaining about this arc and the fact that it's an adaptation from the movie by the same name. These complaints see this movie as a cash grab. And, well, while that may be true (let's not pretend like big companies don't do things whith money on their mind), I think it's a necessity for movies ... that form part of the main plot. This is not a spinoff that you can just skip if you don't feel like watching a movie or don't have time to do so. It's a main arc. Having it adapted to a TV show format facilites watching it a lot for people that prefer shows over movies, or for people without much time to watch anime.

At the end of the day, you can just ignore it if you've watched the movie. Stop crying about it, there are people who benefit from this format.

Getting off the train for a second time, the train arc redux has completed. This tv recut of the heavily emotional arc finishing its short batch of episodes. I can definitely say this arc hits hard all the same even in this new format. There are some wonky endings to episodes since it wasn't initially made to be cut into smaller chunks from the movie format. We got a lot more of Rengoku himself with this tv recut since that first episode following his ... before the train showed Rengoku in the protagonist role. I liked that episode a lot since it just gave us more time with him. Given how the arc ends it was nice to experience more with Rengoku.

The actual movie contents itself were just as good as before. Loved seeing more focus on Tanjiro guilt for his family dying while he was away. Its not something anyone could just move on from and we saw as he left his dream that Tanjiro family is always on his mind, hes always got them in his heart. Inosuke and Zenitsu got some really funny dreams kinda just goofing off, some nice moments of levity before the pain. Rengoku waking up and demolishing the parts of Enmu that were train bits is always awesome, Rengoku with his flame breathing techniques let the animators show off.

Enmu himself wasn't the most captivating villain but he didn't need to be. Just had a simple purpose of wanting to impress Muzan and couldn't accomplish that goal. But he wasn't the real highlight for the antagonist of this arc. Akaza coming in at the end really steals the show and has a grand entrance. His fight with Rengoku is one of the most visually pleasing spectacles in all of anime. Pure eye candy dripping off the screen in every moment. Its hard to gush anymore about it when its just so good and been praised hundreds of times over.

This arc might have overstayed its welcome but I was glad to witness it again these months later. It does the manga immense justice and elevates the story to a new height. Aside from weird editing the tv recut of this arc hits just as hard as the movie version, plus the few added or extended scenes and the extra first episode were good. Cannot wait for the entertainment district arc to begin next week!

Don't let the negative reviews mislead you.
The curious case of this sequel is that it was basically a rehearsal for the massively loved and successful movie that adapted the Mugen Train arc, with this having some tiny scenes here and there, plus a completely new first episode that expands more on what led the parties gather up on the Mugen train in the first place. With this out of the way, let me expand on this more.

I, unlike many people, fell off early on the first season, the content was just that generic at best to me, the characters did not interest me in the ... slightest and the power system, while pretty, did not tingly anything inside of me, and the biggest miss was the finale of the first season, we get introduced to so many new characters that even the ones we spent an entire season with didn't even warm up to me for me to care about any new faces, HOWEVER, Mugan Train changed everything.

This arc was sort of a re-introduction to the whole series, I got to appreciate Tanjiro and the trio more for what they arc, not only that, but Rengoku went from a nobody to one of if not the best characters in the show in the span of one arc.

As this was basically a chopped-off version of the movie, the animation and how breathtakingly glorious it was persisted its quality, with some new direction changes introduced as additional camera angles and slight touches here and there, it did not fall out of the place. If the second season segmented this franchise as an eye cake, this sequel added more topping.
I must also talk about the opening and ending theme songs, never disappoint Ufotable, never disappoint.

Story/characters

Events in this arc start in a similar fashion to the movie but with one notable twist. Instead of starting at the exact same moment, this series contains a prelude of sorts as we get an opening act that focuses solely on Kyoujurou Rengoku. This prelude is likely to please newcomers and veterans alike. It is a particularly good touch when you consider the fact that Kyoujurou did not get enough character development in the movie.

Beyond that this mini-series runs in an almost identical fashion to the movie. I am sure there are differences but unless you got some pen and paper you won’t notice ... those changes. Because of this I feel that in many ways this mini-series will rank almost identically to the movie. The question then becomes which format is better a short series or movie? To me I felt the movie is probably the better of the two because it gave a more flowing and complete experience. The various opening and ending sequences, whilst enjoyable made for a more disjointed experience which will only be compounded if you viewed the anime as it was originally airing.

As such many of the strengths and weaknesses, as seen in the movie, are present here with the main highlights being the highly enjoyable battle sequences when we see our heroes duke it out with the various demons that take place in this story arc. If you have come to watch this show for all the action and slick animation then you will surely not be disappointed even if you watched the movie already.

In terms of character development this series, likes its movie counterpart is relatively light. There is not much character growth to be had and this counts doubly so if you saw the previous season. Newcomers will get more out of this seeing as we gain some insights on Tanjirou’s background but to people who saw the film or movie those flashbacks is simply covering old ground. Even the various demons are not given much depth unlike the main series which at least attempted to add some redeeming feature to the antagonists. Because of this lack of growth and depth this show becomes a straight up tussle between good and evil with little grey areas so don’t expect any deep moments here. To enjoy this series to the fullest you simply need to enjoy the ride and watch it for all the great action.

Beyond the action-packed story and character development there are some comedic moments with Inosuke and Zenitsu providing much of the comic relief although Kyoujurou certainly chips in here particularly at the start of the anime. For the Nezuko lovers she has her moments but is not featured as prominently as in the main series. *cries*

Animation/music:

Demon Infinity Train arc continues the Demon Slayer tradition of wowing us with its stunning visuals which only get better when we get to the highly charged action sequences that people are clamouring for. It is a series that can be watched just for its animation prowess alone. Things do improve on the musical front, at least when compared to the movie as both the opening and ending have some good beats. The opening track is “Akeboshi” by Lisa whilst the ending song is “Shirogane” by the same artist.

Summary:

Seeing as this series is so similar to the movie it is hard to recommend watching Train arc. It essentially delivers the same story but in a more disjointed fashion as the movie’s story is essentially broken into six episodes with breaks in the show that stifle the overall pacing of the show. Whilst this breakup does work in the opening episodes when the pacing is slower (the movie did start slowly too) this breakup of episodes becomes an increasingly bigger impediment as the action hots up and we are interrupted with more and more recaps.

The biggest saving grace this mini-series has its opening episode which does provide something unique. Even if you have watched the movie you will gain something by watching the intro so give it a go. It is because of those points my suggestion, to get the most out of Demon Slayer series, is to watch the original, episode one of this arc followed by the movie. This optimal way of watching means I would not recommend watching this arc for newcomers or veterans alike even though the series is actually not that bad. However, if you are a big Demon Slayer fan or a lover of action then then you will likely get quite a bit of fun from this.

Story 6.5 – The early prelude is definitely worth watching but the subsequent episodes are essentially a rehash of the movie so if you have watched that recently you are pretty rewatching the movie. Newcomers to the franchise will enjoy this Train arc more but the disjointed experience acts to hinder the overall enjoyment you will have here.

Characters 6 – Tanjirou and Rengoku were the stars of the show and as such got the most character development. The rest of the cast was simply there and got very little love in terms of character growth. I was particularly disappointed that Zenitsu and Inosuke were not expanded upon considering the amount of screen time they received in the main series. It is also notable how little exposition or backstory was given for the main antagonists which meant the fights didn't carry the same sense of drama as the main series.

Animation/music 9 – The main jewel of this series. The Train Arc continues to impress with its fluid animation and signature fighting sequences. It certainly adds a sense of flair to the fight scenes and is one of the major selling points of the series and franchise. This strong animation was also supported by strong musical acts in both the opening and ending sequences.

Overall 7 – One that the shounen and action fans are bound to enjoy. To get the most out of this series you got to treat it as an action flick and not focus too much on the characters or story development. The stunning visuals and unique stylised action sequences make this an easy thing to do. However, seeing as the movie delivers the same experiences but in a more seamless manner means it is hard to recommend this to viewers. If you are a big Demon Slayer fan then go for it otherwise watch episode one and follow it up with the movie.

The plot of the Arc is basic and not much events occur. Character-development of almost all of the characters (except Rengoku and Tanjiro) is almost nil. The sudden appearance of the character of Akaza is also something which is odd.
However despite all this shortcomings the Arc stands tall. The splendid animation, the background score, the awesomely directed action sequences, the powerful ‘blazing’ character of Rengoku and the emotional touch to Tanjiro's character is what makes anyone watching it entirely ignore the shortcomings. The Arc also properly highlights the emotions of people who would love to dwell on dreams of the past and their struggle ... to come back and face the reality.

We clearly feel that the Mugen Train arc is thought, written, paced and edited like a movie and not like a series.

Still, it doesn't take anything away from the quality of the anime, on the form it's still sublime, the fights are incredible!
Rengoku is really classy, Tanjirou has some touching and more subtle introspective passages than the 2nd part of season 1, Inosuke is still as funny as ever and Zenitsu is less annoying (and we see him more in action).

One of the great strength of Demon Slayer is its ability to oscillate between angry action scenes (we're served in Mugen Train), dark and gory ... scenes (Tanjiro's nightmare is very disturbing) and very shonen comic passages, enough to satisfy everyone.
It's a little too tearful at times, but it's always accompanied by beautiful music by Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina so it's okay.

I'm coming out of it a little less excited than for season 1, but it seems that the season following the infinity train arc is the best. Must see!

Where to start, this story is really interesting. I initially thought this show would be a trap anime where people like it because of the amazing animations and not for its plot. However, after watching all of season 1, I became a big fan of the show. The train to muzan movie was also amazing. This season continuing off from this point makes it a really interesting. As someone who did not read the manga, I have nothing to expect. However, the season did not disappoint. The animation continue to be great and the story is expanding as well.
Honestly, the only thing that distracts ... me from making it a 10/10 is the fact that there are small moments where they make scenes less emotionally investing by making it a comical with the art (you know if you watch the first episode of the show of this season). However, it is just a small gripe. Aside from that, there are tons of unique characters and designs. The pacing is also quite good where it does not feel too slow or too fast for me. Every episode, we learn a lot and we get beautiful animations to supplement it.
I'd definitely recommend this show to any one even if you don't watch anime often.

Mugen arc saved demon slayer for me. Kyojuro is actually funny and really endearing and he gave the story more depth than ever. Was hesitant going in, but came out pleasantly surprised. All because of the addition of another character to the main cast. Mainly takes place in one location, but the plot and the writing was on point and it's much better than the first season/arc itself. Hoping for the next arc to be similar to mugen arc but doubtful bc kyojuro saved ... the show imo.
