Synopsis

Thirty-six students find themselves and their school building suddenly adrift in a void-like dimension. When supernatural powers awaken in some of them, a sense of detachment begins to divide the group. Despite the student council's attempts to impose order, they clash with the students possessing special abilities, who rebel against their strict control.

This conflict leads them to discover that this world has its own set of rules—and following them is necessary for survival. After one of the students decides to take a leap of faith, the school switches dimensions once again. While they deal with the unique challenges and circumstances that each world presents, the students must unravel the mysterious phenomenon and find a way back home.

Personally, I love this show, and it ranks in my top three favorites. I'm not going to pretend that I understand everything about it, but that's part of its charm for me. Every day, I find myself thinking about a scene I didn't quite grasp before, and when it suddenly clicks, I get a sense of joy from finally understanding what it meant. The plot does an excellent job of maintaining a shroud of mystery that dangles tantalizingly in front of me, keeping me captivated and always wanting more.

The characters are incredibly intriguing and well-developed, each with their unique personalities that shine through. Mizuho and ...

Mixed Feelings
Sonny Boy was a relatively hyped up anime from 2021 of which I did not care much when it came out but eventually decided to check out in my hunt of the titles that plot wise stood out the most in recent years.

The premise is mildly interesting more for the combination of elements it presents and for the time it came out, rather than being anything really innovative on its own. There were already isekai of whole classrooms before (Hyoryu Kyoshitsu, Arifureta, Kumo Desu Ga Nani ka?, for examples) and there were shows of people being transported to different worlds across different episodes (Abenobashi Mahou ...

This anime was highly praised so I eventually got around to watching it, but it was profoundly disappointing. There are only one of two conclusions that can be reached: Either the author failed to convey anything meaningful or it was completely pointless to begin with. Why is this the case? Every episode starts with a mystery that is never solved and ends with a conclusion that has no meaning, and what happens in the middle doesn't matter. At best there are random scenes one may resonate with, and in parts there are interesting ideas, but as a whole there is just nothing there.
