I don't know if I wanted to praise the anime for the fact that I could hardly stop watching it. Or to express my sadness about how this show got worse and worse with each episode. This is of course often the case that series lose quality over time, but here it was impressively fast. Especially from episode 19 on, you couldn't talk about quality anymore, it felt like the writer was changed and some amateur grabbed his chair.

And the golden rule... if in an interesting anime, a white-haired evil loli with different colored eyes appears, then you already know that the ... anime is going to be bad. It's the same thing over and over again.

The main topic of Summertime Render has everything a heart desires. It has a mystic atmosphere, unexplainable murders, good pacing, creepy monsters, and many mysteries that simply captivate the viewer.
Unfortunately, much of the suspense is already sacrificed in episodes 5-6, when the "killer" is given a face and the big baddies are already revealed. From then on, a lot of the atmosphere practically disappears and it veers more towards an action shounen.

From that point on I just thought to myself that it was disappointing but maybe it will still be good. But my hope evaporated, it resembled more and more from episode to episode an unwanted child between Re: Zero and Mirai Nikki and it got worse and worse. Why throw out everything that created actual interest at the beginning of the series? This is beyond my understanding.

To make matters worse, the story became weaker and weaker towards the end, with less and less content and more and more clichés. The opponents turned into clowns and no longer had any charisma. And I don't even want to start writing about episodes 22-24. The villains got caught in a time loop so often that their IQs suffered massively. Despite being radical and manipulative, to begin with, they evolved into the dumbest antagonists I've seen in a long time.

Episode 25 would have been less bad in that regard if not for the impressively brainless finale. Also interesting to see how little impact it had to change 300 years of the history of an island and still come to almost the same result. Heh, Stein Gates put the whole thing in a much more interesting light.

I don't hate any of the characters, some of them are relatively understandable or even rational. Unfortunately, they are massive stereotypes and grossly unrealistic. The protagonist is the worse Tanjirou, who goes from a rational character to an irrational one.

The female protagonist is the LIVING PLOT, without her the entire story would be meaningless as she does practically everything and is the answer to every question. She is strong, has all sorts of abilities, is invincible, and doesn't even want to die. When she shows up, you know the scene is going to be boring. The first episodes were so impressive precisely because this invincible monster wasn't present and it was just human versus shadow.

Double G Cup is the typical female bookworm with big boobs, except that this one can fight shadows for story reasons and does everything without a problem, except when it comes to the supreme boss.

The rest of the side characters are simple stereotypes with no achievements to speak of.

The 2 antagonists are an absolute disappointment. Although the shadow was interesting at the beginning, he developed into a generic pseudo-Isekai antagonist that knew no logic or sense.
And the Loli... yes, every cliché that was on the list was chopped off with her. It's impressive how the author managed to create a good atmosphere and on the other hand, had no idea what he wanted to do with the plot.

The animations were fascinating at the beginning and lifted the atmosphere, it was a gorgeous image and the scenes practically flowed into you. From the halfway point, they were rather shaky and limited to only a few moments of brilliance. By the end, it was just average carnage with no sense of detail.

Music-wise, the anime was average, both intro and outro. What I did like, however, was the spoiler-free first intro and some osts.

And so you see again what happens when a good idea ends up in the wrong hands. Under other circumstances, this series could have become an unparalleled top title. The subject matter around the island and the shadows was a goldmine and so little was made of it, and in the very end, it was just slapped on the table. What a disappointment. When we saw the ending, we could hardly believe that this was the same series as when we started.

Summertime Rendering has one of the single greatest premises to a mystery anime I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately it completely abandons the whole “murder mystery” part of its plot.

Effectively the idea is that our main character gets the ability to return back in time to a specific point, the catch being that the point gets later and later as time progresses. For example if he dies once than he’ll be sent back to the beginning of the show, but the next death may send him a couple hours into the future.

This is absolutely brilliant because it allows the character to make mistakes, but still gives a ... sense of urgency knowing he can’t make too many mistakes.

The show starts out great, MC hears his friend drowned, MC goes to funeral, and MC learns that she may not have drowned but actually been murdered. He does some investigating and then is killed by the doppelgänger of his friends little sister. He then gets sent back in time to the beginning of the show.

What an incredible start, your mind has so many questions and you already know you’re in for a journey.

Unfortunately this show has to deal with an issue, it gave the protagonist a super power, so the writers now have to justify why he has the superpower. In doing so this story now has to add a supernatural element to the island, which takes the story from what would be a regular murder mystery to a supernatural mystery.

The supernatural element they added to the island was the “shadow sickness”, effectively the idea is that sometimes people on the island see their doppelgängers and then the doppelgängers kill them and their families, so now the MC has to also solve the mystery of the island not just the mystery of the murder.

This now becomes the shows main focus, the traditional murder mystery is cast to the side in favor of shadows and it keeps expanding the lore and powers of shadows. In doing so it creates more and more powers and characters that the show has to explain away later which takes time. For every new power that a character has the show will take around an episode of time explaining it and telling the backstory of it.

By the end the show becomes a battle show with characters just using their special powers. Instead of a mystery show.

Who killed this character->how are there doppelgängers->why do I have supernatural powers->why do these other characters have supernatural powers->let’s explain the backstory of the supernatural powers->let’s fight each other with our supernatural powers

Supernatural characters naturally get more character development because the show spends so much time explaining their backstory that the non super powered cast feels bland and underutilized, and having a bland cast is a death knell to most mystery thrillers.

It’s still a good show don’t get me wrong, but it definitely strays away from the initial premise. Don’t go into it expecting a murder mystery, go into it expecting a supernatural mystery with fight scenes and you’ll have a better time.

Summertime Render is almost a tale of two different anime. For the first third or so of the show, maybe even the first half, I was largely glued to my seat. It had the right blend of mystery, action, genuine creepiness and plot twists that were still within the realm of normal human comprehension. The latter half, however, goes completely off the rails and continuously tries to one-up itself over and over again until the plot is so bloated, convoluted, over the top and hard to follow that it just feels like a mess. It absolutely tries to do way too much rather than simply ... sticking with what was already working.

The anime is modern, having only come out in 2022, and therefore looks nice. It's not THE prettiest anime I've ever seen, but it's far from ugly, and the action scenes in particular are very fluid and have a lot of moving pieces. The sound however, and perhaps this is just a Hulu problem, seemed very poorly mixed during my viewing with music and effects being much, much louder than the spoken voices of characters, requiring me to repeatedly turn the program significantly up or down with each viewing.

In this anime I disliked the randomly sprinkled in fan service. To be clear, I have no issues with fan service as a general concept whatsoever, but if you're going to do it, really do it. Go all in, be unapologetic, make sure there are half a dozen fan service moments in every episode. Here, however, it happens so infrequently and seemingly randomly that it simply feels forced and out of place. It's as if someone at the studio was afraid to do it too much, or perhaps didn't want to do it at all, but someone above them told them they WILL include these moments, so find a way to make it happen.

Throughout the entire show, the abilities and powers of the characters in this show are increasingly over the top and increasingly convenient. I also found the ending of this anime extremely unsatisfying. It's neat and clean and it removes any and all stakes from the show and makes all deaths and sacrifices that came before it more or less irrelevant. It felt lame and forced and clearly designed to appease that audience who can't handle anything other than a happy ending.

At the end of the day I don't regret seeing Summertime Render through to the end, but I'm confident my final score would have been considerably higher had I simply put it down around the halfway mark. It was doing things the right way up until that point but then it fails to adhere to "If it ain't broke don't fix it" and opts instead to go more and more and more over the top until it's just a giant mess with way too much going on and much less believability. Nevertheless, it's probably still good enough to recommend watching for fans of the genre.

It was very difficult to design a review for this anime. It was never perfect from the start, but it was quite entertaining when it was starting to unfold its stories but unfortunately I think the story unfolded too much.

Undeniably its first part is very good. There are some crass flaws in her but still the balance of her first cour came out very positive. The flagship being the mystery and suspense helped a lot to hold me in the story, since they are themes that are sustained without needing much of the technical aspects of an anime and here these aspects are not a ... big deal. Animation is regular but its soundtrack fails to elevate the climax of the scenes, many times there was not even a soundtrack. Clearly a choice of directors wanting to make everything more "raw" but in my opinion it didn't work out very well.

And speaking of "raw", this anime is exactly that. Scenes without much filter and straight to the point that I got a sincere wide eye. But the fact that the anime is visceral and direct worked very well in its first cour, which as I said, was very good. Until its 12th episode a true mystery anime.

The problem with this anime was from its middle to the end. I believe that the author had enough blocks to imagine an ending... That alone would explain a decadence of writing.

Deus Ex-Machina, an irrelevant and Manichaean villain with an odd motivation in addition to a lot of predictability made this anime end with a bitter taste in the mouth. And the most important part of a story is its ending. And for Summertime Render, which got off to such a good start, having such a bad ending to the story is really, really sad.

There were episodes that, because they were so boring, predictable and boring, took ages to finish. This fact was unthinkable in its first half.

There are specific scenes that, watched without a macro context of the story, sound very cool, but the more I thought about this macro context, the more ridiculous each act became.

Note 6 goes a lot for the average of its cours, and a little "ironing" on my part, after all, the characters made me a little happy.

If you have time, watch it. For better or for worse, this anime is pure entertainment.

Man, I feel a little betrayed with this anime.
Certainly more than the plot itself, the problem I have was due to the overhype around it. Because of the circumstances of its emmission, many classified it as "the true anime of the year", a hidden gem that went unnoticed because of a certain evil organization with big mouse ears.

But the truth is it's good yeah... but it's not that special.

The animation is pretty good and the music slaps sometimes, yeah, but the plot that should be the most important thing on a mistery story and that has been compared (not without reason) with ReZero or Steins;Gate ... is far below the quality of those. With an argumet that asks you to suspend your disbelief from the beginning and whose protagonists alternate between smart and dumb depending on what the story requires; not to mention several deus-ex machina, "justified" during subsequent flashbacks for the shock value.

(As an example and to minimize spoilers I will only say that the protagonist returns to his old house for the funeral of a friend -who died just a couple of days ago- however there are very few people who really show mourning and those who do, seem to forget it completely as the story progresses, giving more importance to their love relationships... and mind you, on a mistery story, those personality changes should not go unnoticed.)

In the end, it's a good series, and as I said, really my problem is that I was expecting to see a masterpiece worthy of being in the best anime of all time, but in the end it's just.... good; and that's kind of disappointing.

I love summertime render, it has become one of my favorite anime on every rewatch! It has surprisingly stunning art direction. I am a big fan of Ushio, one of our main characters. The series animates her hair with this strand like quality. Her movement is fluid and satisfying, and damn whoever voiced her in the sub did a good job.

But major warning for anyone getting into it, the series has a very large tone shift midway.

Originally, I pegged the show as some kind of indie mystery horror anime, which it excelled in. But as the story progressed the show became more of an ... action thriller. I like both of these genres, but the tone will put some people off.

But I do have to thank this anime for showing me the glory of macaroni empitsu! 10/10 band!

Summertime Render is a very exciting anime full of thrillers, something you can easily shut your brains off to and enjoy the mind games of two parties clashing. But this needs to be told; Summertime Render is not a mystery - it gives up on that idea.

Story: 7
The first few episodes were a perfect hook. There were so many mysteries introduced with just one episode, you don't understand a thing, yet you know it'll be interesting. It was terrifying and exciting; you don't know who's the enemy, nor do you really know anything about their objective and purpose. As the story progressed, that began to ... waver, and there were barely any mysteries left unsolved. Everything was explained in a boring way. I don't want to spoil too much, but they basically explain the enemy's weakness very early on, making the enemies have much less mystery shrouded around them.
This gets worse as the story progresses, to the point where they don't just explain the weaknesses, but also felt like the anime makes up the weaknesses and power-ups to give our main characters a fighting chance. They're no longer puzzle pieces for you to follow along, but they have a step-by-step explanation and a voice that shows you the answer. The voices are the characters that keep having what felt like forced dialogues, explaining the answer to you, which honestly made both the story and character interactions feel much less deserving, dumbed down, and obvious.

The story felt rushed a few times. That may be because they started to focus on cool fighting scenes later on, more than character-driven, but that's not all. The powers became so inconsistent; not power-scaling of something similar like shounen stuff (although there is a tiny bit of that), but how dumbed down they were, basically just adding more to it like a child. It's not creative to add more things to the powers later on out of nowhere; it's lazy, especially when it is so obvious because it was demanded by the plot.
The last interactions/episodes does not leave a big impact on me either, as they felt a bit predictable and not earned. Towards the middle and end, it felt like I was reading a script, which was my biggest gripe. It was actually a bit frustrating how cliché the last few episodes were.


Characters: 6
It started off perfectly, the story had despair from the get-go along with the fear of the unknowing. The explorations our protagonist did were calculating and logical, but he still felt human throughout. He continues being like this, and it's enjoyable to watch him try to be as logical as possible, whilst holding back his emotions from getting in the way.
Our other “friendly” characters are pretty simple, and that's fine. Not all of them are though, and it feels like a healthy balance.

Later on, both the enemies and main characters became much less creative, especially in how they can be utilized, along with how much it felt like the plot dragged the characters along. It actually made me so disappointed how the enemies early on went from being extremely powerful, unknown beings that picked the perfect spots to just messing with our main character's plans. Sadly, the answers are handed how to defeat them with"deducing", in an extremely boring way of just one character answering it to another, instead of trying to follow along a character's exploration to find the answer - which would've been infinitely much more exciting, and something they did in the very early episodes.
Now, let's not say that it happens all the time. It's inconsistent, where sometimes the characters actually have to explore or experience something, and is so satisfying when it happens.
But there are often times when you wonder what is the mystery around a certain part, or how the character(s) will find the answer, only to have it in the same episode. It ruins the plot and mystery aspect, but also makes the dialogues boring and actually feel like they're not speaking - the script needed the characters to know the answer.

The enemies' ambitions fell short as the story progressed. The twist from a villain actually just ruined it with the typical world-ending crap that is incredibly boring, and just one-noted with how evil they are. It also felt rushed, because the villain just continued to make poor decisions.
They barely thought outside the box, despite one of them being extremely intelligent/wise and the other being extremely powerful, meshed together. That may be of their ego, but it felt less earned as the story progressed, especially towards the end. It does not help either that our main characters make dumb decisions as well. Some are intentional, sure, but it does not feel earned, either.
It's not that the characters are outsmarting each other, it's that the story demanded them to be dumbed down. That's not thrilling or mystery-driven. That's just plot-driven in a boring way.


Art/Animation: 7.5
It is at times inconsistent going from highly animated and detailed, then to the typical anime look, but overall it's pretty good. The art and animation don't negatively impact the story, and the animation at times enhances the characters, especially their facial expressions.
I especially like the first opening towards the end of it, it's so cool. I swear I'm not biased.

Overall: 6.5
Summertime Render is not a bad anime by any means. I think it's an enjoyable thriller with enjoyable characters that have varied personalities, decent animation with very interesting choices of perspectives, an amazing hook for the early episodes, overall enjoyable music choices, and much more when it comes to technical and a few writing qualities.

But you'll need to turn off your brain at some parts or stop making theories in your head for a minute. Because either it's the correct answer or will be answered to you very early on. But if you remove yourself from the mystery, along with the thrilling parts feeling cheaper, it's a fun anime that still does very interesting things.

This anime sets up so nicely, and will likely have you on the edge of your seat and guessing every episode. Has a bit of everything, but I think that's the downfall of this anime. What presents itself and sets up as a very intriguing mystery with some elements of horror, just doesn't follow through with that and it causes the foundation set up in the first half of the anime to go off the rails. Yes it's still intriguing, and I enjoyed it. (8/10) It's just you'll no doubt be sighing to yourself at some ... points, or thinking how differently this could have played out.

There's a few inconsistencies here and there, but overall I enjoyed it.

I'll try to spoil as little as I can and go straight to the point.

I really wanted to love this series, as a Higurashi and Steins;Gate fan who's played the vns, this show seemed to pick some aspects from both of those, and make it interesting enough to keep me watching (kinda).

I think the show has a really great start, very impactful and it glued me to the screen for the next 5 or so episodes. Then they start complicating the plot and the show starts to drag for a bit. Then they /really/ start complicating the plot, and that's when I started having some ... problems with it. Each episode, they introduce a new concept, dragging the plot furthermore and it becomes this weird shonen-like thing, where "battles" are way longer than they should be, and both the good and the bad guys feel the need to over-explain everything that's happening WHILE they're fighting. Which is an anime trope I don't like that much.
Although, I do feel like in this show they really did need to explain every detail, because even after they did I still felt somewhat lost in the sheer amount of new concepts introduced. I don't want to really get into the parts that upsetted me, because that would be a major spoil, but the fights between our MC and the "bad guy" are all very uninteresting and full of plot armor moments and just overall bulshitness.

Being that said, I still think it's a decent, if not good show. I really like the visuals, music and the voice actors, I think they did an amazing job (once you get used to the accent thing and the way they chose to subtitle this show). And without spoiling anything, the last two episodes did a good job of tying the whole show together and I did like the ending we got.

So overall, I do have mixed feelings about this show, while I loved some parts and concepts, I think some other concepts that were introduced later kinda work against it.

I'd give this show a decent 6/10.

Summertime Render starts out as a mystery, you gulp and get the feeling “Oh man this could be it!” Its tugging on your heart strings, could it be? And midway through you are confused, but do not worry, Summertime Render is even more confused to what it wants to be, a mystery? Horror? BATTLE SHOUNEN? Hold on a moment, what? Truth to be told, this anime has a shockingly good first half that really draws your attention for it to only swap genres completely into nonsensical battle shounen with its animations even morphing into Nanatsu no Taizai at times which made me arguably even more ... confused. I truly have to say, this is one of those moments the creator had no idea how to end it and just ran with the first idea he had.

While the art direction and animation were consistently good throughout the series. The tonal shift from mystery/suspense of the beginning was unfortunate. The characters were very well designed and likeable, but their personalities do nothing to break their stereotypes. In other words the characters at the beginning are the same characters at the end. This was a good series to watch (especially if you are a fan of mystery) but ultimately does not do anything special to differentiate from its peers.

Note: Reading the manga is a viable alternative as it follows the anime so closely. The manga is uncensored, unlike the ... anime.

Summertime render by the premise of it kinda lure you per say wiht hopes of an really good ( or at least good) anime of mistery and though has some things that are to some degree interesting doesnt really end up being even what i could define as somehting that could be enjoyable all the way through.

This is gonna be an really brief review to give you an idea of you are you getting into assuming that you are planning to watch it, no spoiler or anything include it.

The series start off decently and i must say that obviating a couple of things that resulted ... to me an turn off at the beggining with what i consider an really mild fanservice didnt really happen after two or three episodes anymore, the build up of the plot and the settings were really nice and that accompained with an good animation (which in that aspect i really cant complain because was above average in everything).
Although all the story start as an mistery progressively it goes turning a little more to the action side and battles taking more screen-time around the second half of the series but still holding the mistery in a much more less portion, about this it might depend of each person some might disleke it while others could find it good in my personal experience wasnt too much of an problem but i have to confess that i felt that it should have remained as an suspense/mistery series because not only me but i think almost everyone who got into this series was expecting that kind of genere.

The story propose some nice ideas and theories that just ended up throw away to an side for the sake of moving forward with the story, leaving what would be one of the only things that really make this series worthy of watch unnexplored and just an mere wasted potential together with plot (that far from being amazing) were the only elements that i found the strong points of the series.

The characters in design and persona wise were really generic and flat, many cliches in many areas that really didnt help to the overall experience, this was the aspect in which it felt the less risk (and effort) was tooked and for those as me with some milage having watched many series is just another bunch of copy-paste characters that really doesnt differentiate in anything with the cclasic archetype that is used in most series, making them really predictable and hollow.

The music didnt really outstanded in anything and the ending song was the most decent thing which actually to beign honest was an really nice one that in my opinion in the few moments that we could hear it wasnt properly use.

The ending of this series i must say also that really felt pretty bad handle, leave me kinda indiferent and though the series in general might not be an masterpiece really didnt recieve an good treatment in how was closed and the last couple of minutes really felt rushed.

With all that being said summertime render at his core is not an bad neither amaizing series its just an meh experiencie pretty forgetable that might work for some people who are not so demanding.

RESUME

Summertime render is an average series that proposed some nice and interesting ideas which at last just ended like that mere ideas that contributed to the series for certain moments in order to keep advancing with the plot and were disposal after it, with characters that are really weak in essense and dont carry the series from beign something decent to really enjyoable (much more less an memorable one).
I would reccomend it to newcomers who havent watched many series until now, but to the rest of people wouldnt is just an interesting premise that play safe using all the cclasic elements we have seen so far making the series as an whole something repetitive and at the end boring.

Imagine you and your friends built a raft and float around in a river, then mid-departure suddenly decide you're travelling across the ocean on said raft.
Summertime Rendering is the perfect example of something trying to be more than it set out to be.
From the starting line you'll immediately get the vibe that this show wants to replicate its (vastly superior) predecessors, Steins;gate and Re:Zero, the problem is everything that follows. This show doesn't know if it wants to be mysterious, creepy, or an action thriller and it's very apparent that aside from "die to reset" nothing in this show was planned out.
Without spoiling, ... almost everything that happens in this show is just pure coincidence to push the plot forward, while creating unwinnable scenarios that seems to have been made to give the protagonists some semblance of a struggle, just for immediate plot armors to kick in with no work required whatsoever. There's never a single struggle in this show and the only way the protagonist gets anywhere is because the writer said so. Why didn't the bad guy stop the protagonist? Well... Because then the show would end!

Continuing the theme of zero planning, there are constantly new abilities and powers that pop up out of no where, sometimes for literally no reason with zero impact on the story or present scene, just for these abilities to never be explored again. The whole time you're watching this show random things will just happen like "oh yeah haha I have this OTHER power too!" and the rules of the abilities and world are very inconsistent throughout.

I put that I have mixed feelings for this show because I wanted to like it, as I love the other two shows mentioned prior, but this one doesn't hit the mark and actually put me to sleep on multiple occasions. If you want a show to binge to waste time, this can serve that purpose, as it's not insulting to the viewer or disrespectful of your time, but beyond that it's just an average viewing experience at best.
And if you haven't seen Re:Zero, I'd recommend watching that instead, as it takes this show's main gimmick but actually fleshes it out.

Time travel and thriller.
This series is very similar. But does not make me feel the same.
It was just too predictable. Full of cliche, not even executed well.
We did not care for the characters. They are too simple and forgettable.
There is no psychological element to this show, and I think that is the biggest miss for a "time travel thriller" series that the 3 series above executed well.

The fights and deaths are flashy and have good animation. But the writing lacked substance and everything was just convenient and short sighted. It kind of felt like a brainless shounen, and everyone had ... sub room temperature IQ with the actions they took. There were too many plot holes and oversight in storytelling for this to be called a good story

Nothing really felt "at stake" or "at risk" and put you on the edge of your seat. It just felt like some cheap mixed copy of one of the classic series.

If you never saw any of the 3 above, you might think this series is great.
But if you have, I think you'd be a bit disappointed in this show.

The ending reminds me of basic romance shows. It's very boring and cliche. The whole show is a cliche.

this is a gamey anime - basically a walkthrough for a visual novel
it is not working as anime and your average player - being a slowpoke - would be much swifter to connect the dot(s) than slow-paced anime
the "twist" of a premise is so 50s sci-fi i would not bother myself to watch if i'd known, but the nature of this anime is so spoilery, so you should think twice before watching

if you are very young or overall illiterate in anime and visual novels - proceed
if not, wait 10 years for the ... english release of the visual novel

Please excuse my errors, it is 2 am in the morning here.

I got into this because the animation seemed amazing, I loved the soundtracks and I found the lore to be quite interesting. The animation and soundtracks were quite memorable, as they are quite atmospheric. Unfortunately, any love or respect I would've had for this anime and this lore rapidly vanished.

I quit it around halfway because the writing was messy and seemed to linger on the lines of amateurish.
The main female cast is quite literally just fanservice, and the author somehow tried to make the fanservice excusable as it was apparently, SOMEHOW, important ... to the plot.

It feels as if the MC is a total idiot dragging the viewer around in his pocket. I tried my best to drag on, but it became unbearably awful. The villains make it a worse waste of time. If this anime did not have fanservice and let the plot explore itself further instead of bursting the mysterious and haunting aspects in the mere fifth(?) episode, I would have continued this.

It was an extremely uncomfortable experience watching this.

Summertime Render an anime that manages to go from a pretty good anime to a real shit one real quick, this review will contain no spoilers.

To summarize summertime render is about this guy called Shinpei who visits his hometown to attend the funeral of his adoptive sister Ushio although soon after arriving he discovers that foul play may have been involved with these creatures' called shadows as the suspect.

Story 4/10

The story of this show starts of strong hooking you in with an intriguing mystery of these ominous creatures called shadows. This continues for a couple more episodes with each episode getting better than ... last although this trend soon ends first with the fact that they just reveal the 2 main villains right of the bat. From then on it pretty much just goes from mystery anime to generic action Shonen which maybe a problem for some but I am sucker for action and must admit that some of these fights were pretty satisfying, so I wasn’t really complaining. However, this is until things just started getting silly with one of the main villains repeatedly dying and coming back to the point where it was just ridiculous and it only gets worse with the last 5 episodes with the main characters being on the verge of killing the main antagonist and then deciding for absolutely no reason not to and then they join their side and they fight the other bad guy and it is at this point the show descends to absolute boredom and is not really worth watching.

The characters in the show aren’t really anything special, they are pretty generic and do not seem to show any change throughout the show.

Animation 8/10

The animation in this show is pretty good, all characters are pretty detailed, and fights are fluid not really any downsides on this one.

Enjoyment 6/10

Overall, this anime is alright with the early episodes being the only reason I gave this a 6 but due to the later episodes my disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined. Would not recommend to a friend.

TL;DR good mystery anime at start but quickly becomes generic action anime

This is my first review, and I was never good at English so please forgive my lack of punctuation.

No way thats a 8+ anime, unfortunaly, people review and vote after watching just a couple of episodes. As i can see the positives reviews are almost from people who watched just the beggining.
The begginig (until 8-10 ep) is awesome, than quickly became a shitshow. At first you are watiching a well-made psicological horror, than, suddenly, its a C-tier shonen-battle. There are lot of episodes in the middle ,that, basically, nothing happens(i skipped some episodes and I dont thnik I lost anything important). Its really confusing with a lot of dense information that just dont make sense. The ending its kinda okay not bad ... as the middle. Watching the beggining it really looks like gonna be something but it became at the best "watchable".
You can watch the beggining but you goona see a remarkable lost of quality, than just drop it.

To Your Eternity, Hellsing, Parasyte, nearly all Monogatari, Erased, Dr Stone, Fate/Zero, Re Zero, Mushoku Tensei, and Naruto Shippuuden. These are all rated lower than this show... Have you guys been smoking too much?

This show should hardly breach 7, and yet somehow you've rated it higher than some of the best anime to release in the past 20 years... The animation is average at best, you can find the characters in any other seasonal mystery, and the soundtrack barely exists. Perhaps it's been botted? I can't see any other reason how it could be rated so high. It doesn't make sense. Have you all ... lost it, or is there an influx of people who've never seen the concept of going back in time.

There are too many amazing anime rated below this to count... It's a real shame.

Summertime Render could have been a great gem, but the story ended up getting the thrown into the mud in the second half of the show. Many viewers will be very disappointed towards the end of the show for the uncreative and anti-climatic storyline.

Score for the first half the story: 9/10

-3 points for the storyline in the second half that cut too many corners just to finish the show.
-1 points for the sexualization of females. Panties and swimsuit-everywhere are unnecessary for a great story. Not to mention that it is disrespectful to females.

Hence the overall score: 5/10
