First let’s get something out of the way, is this series generic? Yes. Is the protagonist generic? Yes. And most importantly, is the male lead slightly toxic? Yes.
So then why do so many people view this series as wholesome and happy?

Hananoi is your typically codependent, untrusting, male lead. He starts off desperate for any sort of relationship to the point where he will commit extreme actions. This will put some people off. And yes it is extremely problematic.
But this manga pulls a fast one on ya.

I love summertime render, it has become one of my favorite anime on every rewatch! It has surprisingly stunning art direction. I am a big fan of Ushio, one of our main characters. The series animates her hair with this strand like quality. Her movement is fluid and satisfying, and damn whoever voiced her in the sub did a good job.
